Hi Readers: I just wanted to let you guys know that I updated Chapter 7 with a bit more (okay, maybe a lot more) due to the fact that I wanted those two chapters to be one chapter rather than two. But now, I am going to just continue with what I planned on doing in the first place. And that's bringing our main couple home due to the drama that happened last chapter. Thanks again for reading.
Pilot, Part 8
Casey Home – While they were home with each other, that didn't mean that the couple were anywhere near ready to get in bed with each other for the night; not when they can do other things here at home. And that's precisely why Matt and Gabby were currently sitting in the living room with each other, rather than being in bed; but, that didn't mean that they weren't cuddling up to each other. In fact, that's precisely what the married couple were in the midst of doing: cuddling up to each other on their couch, as Matt held Gabby in his lap (while she held the bowl of popcorn); the bowl they both reached in to grab some popcorn, leading to their hands catching each other. And let's just say that felt perfect and very romantic, especially when Matt intertwined their fingers. "I love that feeling." Matt smirked as Gabby said that. "You mean, me intertwining our fingers as we hold each other close on the couch?" Gabby agreed with Matt, as that's precisely what she's talking about. "Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about." Matt smiled.
After all, he likes it too and is very happy that they have their fingers intertwined as they held each other close here on the couch. Oh, and add in the fact that Gabby just laid her head down on his muscular chest; well, that just made everything so much better. It meant that things were perfect, and it meant that Matt was happy, which is how he always feels when he's with Gabby. "You know, I still can't believe how fast the past two days went by. I swore we had more time than how long we had to spend time with each other in the comfort of our bed." Gabby agreed with her husband and just took a breath, as she was hoping to have that time as well. "Honestly, it just always flies by, in my opinion. There's so much we want to do, but we end up not having the time to do it." Matt agreed with his beautiful wife, well aware that was the case. "I know, and I hate that. I hope you do know that I hate that." Gabby agreed with her husband, as she most certainly does know that he hates how little time they have with each other. "Hell, maybe we made a mistake."
Gabby was confused as she heard Matt tell her that. "A mistake about what?" Going to grab her hand, Matt intertwined their fingers as he stared down into his gorgeous wife's eyes. "I'm talking about how maybe we should've just spent the day here at home, rather than go have all that drama at Andy's place." Gabby shook her head, as that was the last way she wanted Matt to think. "Hey, look down into my eyes." Matt agreed as he proceeded to do just that for Gabby, only to lean in and kiss her softly; while she let his hand go and placed hers on his chest whilst they held each other close on the couch. And let's just say that this is Matt's definition of perfection: the two of them holding each other close, as they took it nice and easy with each other; regardless of where it happens, he always feels very happy when he's kissing Gabby in their home. And that's precisely why he's taking things nice and slow with her at the moment. However, it was truly only for a moment as Gabby still wanted to talk to her husband about something else.
How he's going to feel tomorrow when they're back at the firehouse for their second shift after Otis died, and whether he feels like he needs to take it easy and relax. After all, the last thing she wants is for Matt to get overwhelmed, or for him to be miserable at work. And since there was clearly still tension between him and Andy, she wasn't sure whether them working together is a good idea. "Matt, are you sure that you're ready to be on truck with the rest of the crew again?" Matt was surprised to hear Gabby ask him that question, as he felt like it came out of nowhere. "That came out of nowhere. What's going on, babe?" Gabby sighed as she stared up into her amazing husband's eyes. "Matt, there are tensions in the firehouse; and I know that you and Andy tried to clear the air, there's still a lot that has to happen for things to go back to normal. So, that makes me worry." Matt agreed with Gabby as he placed his hand on the back of her head, only to press his lips to her forehead. "That I'm going to be safe." Gabby agreed with her husband.
After all, that's precisely what she was worried about: whether he was going to be safe, while he works with a crew who's clearly still having problems. "I need to be there though, Gabby; you know that I have a big job at the house, and I need to be there in case Chief Boden needs to step away. And it's not my problem that people aren't in a good place with me right now. I need to stay above the fray so that I can do my job and keep them safe, which is all I want to do. The last thing I want is for another person to die like Otis did." Gabby agreed with her husband, as she already knew that was the truth. She knew that the last thing he wanted was for someone else to die like Otis. "I know that Matt, you don't have to say it because it goes without saying. Nobody, and I mean nobody wants to have someone else die like Otis did." Running his hand up and down Gabby's back, Matt agreed with the woman he loves as he felt the same way. So, he just turned his head and pressed his lips to her forehead as a way to let her know how much he truly loves her.
She's the woman of his dreams, and the only woman he could ever see himself being with. There's just something about her that made him want to marry her much sooner than you normally would if he had gone ahead with the courtship that he normally would've done with her, which would've lead to a slower marriage; however, when you know that you've found the right person, you know that you need to marry them. And that's even more so when you're a firefighter and have a chance to lose your life. And while he doesn't like to say that's the reason why they got married faster than your average couple, it is the truth. But, they did it the right way by having a real wedding; the whole white wedding where Gabby got her dad to walk her down the aisle. It was beautiful and the best day of his life due to the fact that he got his new start full of love, one which included him marrying the woman of his dreams. And that's precisely why they were holding each other close, while they just concentrated on each other rather than the past.
The past about what happened earlier today, which Matt was hoping to forget; though, Gabby wanted to talk about it. "Matt, can we talk about what happened at Andy's place while we're just laying here on the couch?" Running his hand up and down Gabby's back, Matt nodded as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "What do you want to know baby?" Gabby sighed, as she hated that she was going to ask him this question, but she just wanted to know something. "How are you feeling after the fight with Andy? Do you feel like it's changed your relationship with him? Do you feel like you can still work with him?" Matt agreed with Gabby, as he most certainly does still believe that he can work with Andy. "Of course, I can still work with Andy babe. Why wouldn't I be able to work with Andy? Yes, we do have a few tensions between us, but that's normal when you work with each other all the time." Gabby agreed with her husband. "But, we don't have those tensions." Matt smiled, prior to turning his head and pressing his lips to her forehead.
After all, he was glad that they didn't have those tensions. "And I think that's a great thing due to the fact that I love you more than anything, and the last thing I want is to be in a fight with you." Gabby agreed with her hunk of a husband, as she felt the same way. The last thing she wants is to be in a fight with Matt, as that may mean that they don't work together as well as they normally do. "By the way, I want to say that I love the way we work together. Both in making things work in our marriage, and when we're working at the firehouse side-by-side." Matt smiled as he wrapped his arm around her back, as he felt the same way as Gabby. "Yeah, we do a good job with that. I truly believe that us having been friends before started a relationship helped. We got into a work ethic, while also battling our sexual attraction towards each other." Gabby laughed, as they've always been sexually attracted to each other. "The truth is, I told myself that I was going to marry you from the first day that I laid my eyes on you." Matt smiled as Gabby told him that.
After all, he was happy that she thought they were going to get married from the first day she laid eyes on him. "Yet, you didn't even know my name, or whether I was engaged at the time." Gabby laughed. "Oh, I didn't care. I was determined to break that engagement to make you mine." Matt laughed as he heard Gabby tell him that, as he had no doubt that was the truth. "And I'm glad you did, as my life is 1000% better with you in it, than it is without you in it." Gabby agreed with her husband, well aware that was the case based on how happy he is when they're together. "I can hear it in your voice, actually. You sound so much happier than you ever did when you were with Hallie." Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife and smiled. "And why do you think that's the case? Because I'm married to the love of my life, rather than the woman I felt obligated to marry." Gabby looked up at Matt when he told her that. "You felt obligated to marry Hallie?" Matt agreed. "Yeah, I did. We were together for so long, that I felt like I had to propose to her." Gabby smiled.
Especially since that meant something. "Ok, why are you smiling?" Gabby smirked as she slipped up his chest and stared into her husband's gorgeous eyes. "Because it means something to me." Matt was confused, so he just listened to Gabby. "If you felt obligated to propose to her, then that means that I'm the only woman you've ever wanted to propose to." Matt nodded as Gabby said that, as that most certainly is the truth: she's the only woman who he's actually WANTED to propose to. "Now, if that isn't the truth." Gabby agreed with Matt as she leaned in and kissed him once more, only to take a breath and sigh as she needed to talk to him about something else. "You know, we need to talk about something else." Matt was confused as he heard Gabby say that. "And what might that be?" Gabby smiled. "You not feeling like you can let your mom live here when she's on parole. Matt, why would you feel like that's even a question. I know Christie won't do it. So, of course, we're going to give your mom a place to stay on parole."
Matt smiled as he ran his hand up and down her back. "My mom's already thrilled, as she can't wait to get to know you better. You know, she always told me that you were the one I should've proposed to. The only one I should've proposed to, rather than be with Hallie." Gabby smirked, as she loves the sound of that. "But remind me why we're still talking about your ex, when we're married?" Matt smirked as he leaned in and kissed the woman of his dreams, only to move his lips to her neck to suck on it as a way to tease the woman of his dreams. "That's a very good question my dear." He said, as he rolled over on the couch and hovered over his gorgeous wife. After which, he placed his hand on her neck and just smiled as he laid down on her body as he kissed her softly. Meanwhile, Gabby placed her hands on his toned chest and just smiled as she took things nice and slow with the man she loves more than anything in the entire world. "So sexy." Wrapping her arms around his neck, Gabby smiled as she held Matt close to her.
After all, he's a very handsome, hunky man; her firefighter husband, who she loves more than anything in the entire world. "God, I love you so much." Matt agreed with Gabby as he moved his hands to her back and held her close to him. "You sure you want to stay down here on the couch?" Gabby smirked, as she knew precisely what Matt really just asked her: whether she wants to go enjoy some alone time with each other in bed. However, before she could answer, there was a knock at the door. "You invite anybody over?" Gabby shook her head, as she most certainly didn't invite anybody over. "No, I thought we were going to be alone." Nodding, Matt proceeded to get up so that he could adjust himself ahead of him going to check the door. "Stay laying down. When I'm back, I'm going to pick you up and take you to bed." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt say that, while watching as he made his way over to the door to their home. After which, he went to check who it was and sighed. "Or not. We're staying down here for a bit." Gabby was confused.
After all, why would they be staying down here for a bit. "Why?" Turning his head, Matt sighed. "Your brother." Gabby just rolled her eyes. "How does he always do this to us? Right when we want to go upstairs and try and make a baby, he comes here." Matt laughed as Gabby said that, prior to opening the door to let her brother Detective Antonio Dawson into their home. "Impeccable timing once again Detective." Seeing that both his sister's hair, as well as that of his brother-in-law is a bit disheveled, he just knew that he was interrupting a bit of sexy time. "Sorry, I just needed to come somewhere neutral." Sitting up, Gabby sighed as she looked at her brother. "Laura?" Antonio sighed as Gabby asked him whether he and Laura were in a fight. "I just got off shift, and I am not ready to go home yet. Do you guys mind if I come here for at least an hour, then I can go home when the kids are in their rooms?" Turning her head, Gabby decided to let her husband chose whether to let her brother stay; and to her surprise, he did. "Yeah, come in."
Looking at Matt, Gabby was shocked. "What?" Matt nodded. "Gabby, you know my background. Do you really think I want that to happen to your brother?" Gabby agreed with her husband, as it made sense now why he was so open to the idea of her letting her brother sit here for a bit. "Right, I guess that makes sense." Antonio laughed. "Dude, you do realize that Laura has no chance against me when I can beat your ass in a boxing ring." Gabby just looked at Antonio when he said that. "Maybe not the best thing to say when talking about THE MOTHER OF YOUR CHILDREN." Antonio gulped, clearly able to see that Gabby isn't in the best mood. "Maybe I should just go if Gabby isn't in the best of moods." Gabby just looked at her brother. "Sit your ass down, now. You came to interrupt my pre-shift sexy time with my husband, you're staying." Antonio gulped, as he knew that he didn't need to mess with Gabby right now; especially not when she's hormonal, which may mean… "Holy shit! Are you pregnant?"
Before they answered Antonio's question, Matt and Gabby invited him to sit down in the living room with them. After all, they were still tired from shift a few days earlier as it was their first one in a while. Add in the fact that they were just at Andy's earlier today spending time with his kids, Matt was even more tired than he was previously. And let's just say that it felt nice for them both to be sitting down. "Oh, now that feels nice." Wrapping her arms around Matt's bicep, Gabby smiled as she got all comfortable with her husband; while he placed his hand on her leg and held her close to him. "You guys are cute together." Gabby agreed with her brother and smiled. "Now, back to the question which you asked us." Antonio agreed with Gabby, as that's the question he hopes to get tan answer to whether his sister is pregnant with her (and her husband's) first child or not. "Yeah, are you guys pregnant?" Gabby sighed as she shook her head. "No, me and Matt are not pregnant." Antonio agreed with Gabby, seeing that he may have hit a nerve.
After all, he knows just how much they both want to be parents. "Oh. Well, there's always the next test." Matt sighed as he looked at his brother-in-law, as he was clearly not understanding what his sister was trying to say. "Antonio, we haven't had time to TRY and get pregnant over the past month." Antonio was surprised to hear Matt say that, as he would expect them to use the time off to try and have a baby. "How in the world is that even possible? You guys have had some time off after…god, what's that guy's name again?" Gabby sighed. "Otis." Antonio agreed. "Right, Otis. After his death, you guys have had time off." Matt sighed. "Not me." Turning her head, Gabby grabbed her husband's hand as she knew that this is hard for him. "I've been at HQ for a couple weeks. Having to go through the situation with my supervisors, then the safety board, lawyers, the disciplinary board, the city and so many people that I can't even keep track anymore. Then, I've had to deal with counselling and picking out a new candidate…" Matt sighed.
After which, he turned to look at Gabby. "There were some days where I felt like I was even neglecting my own marriage, just because of how much I had to work after Otis' death." Moving her hand to the back of Matt's head, Gabby shook her head as that's the last thing Matt has ever done; neglect their marriage and made her feel like she came last. "Hey, look at me." Turning his head, Matt agreed with Gabby as he turned his head and looked at the woman he loves. "You have never and will never neglect our marriage. You are too good of a man and husband to do that to me. You know that Matthew." Matt smiled as he agreed with Gabby, well aware that was the case; even more so after she used his full name to refer to him, something she only does when she needs to emphasize a point. Though, he could definitely go for hearing it more often…like when they're in bed with each other. "You know, I would love it if I could get some more of that when we're in bed with each other. You calling me Matthew." Gabby laughed as she smiled at Matt.
After which, she placed her hand on his face and just smiled as she took things nice and slow with her husband. "I love you. Now, just take a breather and relax. You want some water Antonio?" Antonio agreed with Gabby, as he'd love some water. "I'd love some, may mean that you guys calm down and take it easy around me." Matt just rolled his eyes when he heard Antonio say that, as he's heard what he and Laura did when they were newlyweds. "May I remind you what your sister had to go through when you were a newlywed?" Turning his head to look at his sister as she walked away to the kitchen, Antonio was surprised. "Did you really tell him…" Gabby laughed. "Antonio, he wanted to know more about our family; of course, I'm going to tell him the dirty secrets and all the stuff that I already know. That way, he doesn't need to ask awkward questions when we're together as a family. Just like how I already told him what you did to my second boyfriend when he cheated on me." Matt gulped, as that really scared him; the details were bad.
He literally pummeled him to the ground with his boxing skills. "If me being madly in love with my wife wasn't enough for me not to cheat on her, that story she told me certainly made me want to cheat on her even less." Antonio laughed as he heard Matt tell him that. "Oh, you bet it did." Matt then took a breath. "Add in the fact that my father cheated on my mother, and I saw just how miserable it made her during a time where it wasn't really common for divorce in my neighborhood…and well, I am not going to make Gabby suffer through what my mom went through. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if I had a half-brother or half-sister out there in the world." Turning her head to look at her husband when he said that, Gabby was surprised as he never said that to her before. "Really?" Matt agreed with Gabby, as that's how he feels. "I mean, is it really that far of a stretch Gabby? My father was abusive to me and my mother. Is it really that far of a stretch to say that an abuser, is also a cheater?" Gabby thought about it and shook her head.
After all, that makes complete sense. "Unfortunately, I can't say that it would surprise me if you would have a half-brother or sister out there in the world." Matt agreed with his wife as he watched her fill up some water for him and her brother. "But, that doesn't mean that there is one. Just take it easy and breathe babe. The last thing you need right now is to think about that, when you already have enough on your mind. Hell, you may even need to do something to relax again tonight before shift tomorrow." Matt smirked as he turned his head and looked at the woman he loves, as he most certainly knows precisely what he wants to do: he wants to take a nice bath with the woman he loves. "I already know what I want to do with you." Gabby smiled as Matt said that, as she most certainly wants to do that as well: she wants to take a nice bath with her husband. However, that wasn't what her brother thought they were talking about. "Ok. Can you guys please keep it PG while I'm here?" Turning her head, Gabby looked at her brother.
After which, she told Antonio what they were talking about. "We're talking about taking a bath Antonio, not anything sexual. Believe me, that's the last thing you'd ever catch Matt talking about. He HATES talking about our sex life, except with two people: Kelly and Andy." Matt smirked. "What? I need to brag to them that I have a sexy wife who gives me action, unlike Heather and whatever woman Kelly's hooking up with right now." Walking over to the boys, Gabby gave them each some water. "Here we go." Antonio smiled as his sister gave him water. "You still got those waitress skills from when you were in college, I see sis." Gabby agreed with Antonio. "Toni, we have a big family and I work with men. Some of whom…until we got together…didn't clean up the table after we finished eating." Antonio smirked as he heard Gabby say that, well aware that she was talking about her husband. "Hey, I've learned." Gabby agreed with her husband as she walked up to him and moved his hand to the back of his head, prior to bending down and kissing her.
After which, she started to take things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. "I love you, and I am so glad that you like to joke like that; even with my brother." Matt agreed with his wife, as that's something he'll always do: joke with her and her brother over fun things. "I mean it though Gabby, we need to have fun while we're married and that isn't going to change." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled as she kissed him once more. "I love you so much, and I just love this life we have with each other." Matt agreed with his wife, well aware that was the case. After which, he grabbed her hand and smiled as he intertwined them as a way of showing her love. Showing her the most love he can show his wife, without taking her to bed. Though, they both knew that was next for them. Taking each other to bed, or just having a nice bath with each other; probably the later though due to the fact that it's so relaxing and he can't wait to hold his wife in his arms like that later. But first, they need to spend time with her brother for a bit.
Though, that doesn't mean that the two of them aren't going to waste any time when he's gone. But, for now, they're just going to relax and take it easy. "So, have you seen mom and dad of late? We've been so busy with work, that we've barely had time to meet up with them." Antonio shook his head, as he's been busy too. "The kids are back in their after-school stuff…" The kids being his children Eva and Diego, who are also Gabby's godchildren. "…and that means that me and Laura are taking them to the other sides of the city every couple nights. I try and be there as much as I can, but work gets in the way sometimes." Matt agreed with Antonio, as he could see how much it hurt him that he couldn't be there for his wife. "Hey, at least you guys are figuring it out." Antonio agreed, as that's precisely what they're doing. "And that's precisely what you guys are doing as well." Matt and Gabby both smiled at each other when Antonio said that, as that's precisely what they're doing. They're working it out as they take it nice and easy with each other tonight.
Their plan was to get in the bath with each other the moment Antonio left, until they both started to feel a little hungry. So, they decided to change it up. First, they decided to have a quick snack of the meal they had at Andy's place. And damn, was it delicious. It was the best meal they've had in a while due to the fact that it was precisely what the couple needed. They needed something easy, which Matt made for them. Sure, they already had a bit earlier when they first got home, but it was even better the second time around due to the fact that there was less drama surrounding the meal this time. Rather, there was some sexy time that Gabby was getting from the man she loves as he stood behind her in his towel since she asked him to do something for her while she did the dishes; but, he instead wanted to tease her instead. "You know, you doing this isn't changing my plans. I am finishing the dishes." Standing behind Gabby in his boxers, Matt smirked as he tugged her back against his chest and then kissed her neck. "I know."
Gabby agreed with her husband and just smiled as she continued the dishes. "Thanks for letting me have some time with my brother today, I really appreciated that." Matt agreed with his wife, well aware that was the case. "Hey, and I know that. I really do Gabby." Gabby agreed with Matt as he said that, well aware that was the case as he placed his hands on her hips and just held her in his arms. After which, he decided to address something he heard today at Darden's place. "So, listen. I was going to wait until we were in the bath to talk about this, but I want to know how you're feeling in the aftermath of what happened on shift. You know, the stuff that can get you in trouble." Gabby sighed, as she was hoping not to talk about it. "I'm not going to lie and say that I'm not worried." Matt agreed with his wife, well aware that was the case. "I just hope that they see the real thing I was trying to do and that was saving a life." Matt agreed, as there's no other way for him to see it. "I have no doubt in my mind that they will Gabby, as I get it too."
Gabby sighed as she turned around and looked at her husband. "But you're biased, and you know that." Matt agreed with Gabby, well aware that he was biased. "I know, and you love it" Gabby smiled, as she most certainly does love it. "Don't you know it." She said, as she got close to the man she loves and just smiled due to the fact that he's the best man in the entire world. "I love you Matt." Matt agreed with his beautiful wife, as he loves her too. "Listen, how about I go run that bath for you so that we can relax and take it easy?" Gabby smiled, as she loves that idea: the idea of her husband going to run them a nice bath so that it's hot and ready for her when she's done. "I would absolutely love that. Can you please do that for me?" Placing his hands on Gabby's arms, Matt nodded as he most certainly can (and will) do that for his gorgeous wife. "You know I can and will." He said, while leading in and kissing Gabby softly. "I love you Matt, forever." Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife, as he loves her too. "I love you too, forever." Gabby agreed.
After which, she stepped close to him and wrapped her arms around his waist prior to kissing him softly; the man she loves more than anything in the entire world, her loving husband Matthew Casey. "God, I can't wait to get in the bath with you. But no sex, we need to take it easy and just relax tonight ahead of shift." Matt agreed with his wife, as that's precisely what he plans on doing with her. "Agreed. See you in the bath." Gabby agreed with Matt as she watched him walk away in his tight boxers, while she turned around and proceeded to finish the dishes that she needed to do ahead of them taking a really nice bath with each other; which, honestly, was going to be the perfect way for them to end their day since it was going to be very relaxing. Just her and the man she loves in the bath.
