Ok. So, I finally got Pilot, Part 8 out to you, which took two days to write. Now, I am ready to get Chapter 9 out to you, which is going to be the end of this day. A bit of romance and then just ending the day. Thanks again for reading and I hope you guys continue to enjoy my version of Chicago Fire. This is already a lot of work, but I'm loving it. Now, let's get back to the story.

Pilot, Part 9

A distraction: a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.

That's precisely what Gabby needs tonight, a good distraction to stop her from thinking about the trouble she could be walking into tomorrow when she and Matt go in for shift. While she does know that she may have done the wrong thing in doing a medical procedure, she always believes that it's still the right thing to do since it can save a patient's life. But, the CFD might not see it that way due to the fact that she isn't a doctor. She's nothing more than a paramedic, which means that she's not trained to do procedures like the one she did. And that's precisely why she needs this distraction right now, so that she can calm down and just take it nice and easy with her husband tonight. Take it easy with him both here in the bath, as well as in bed with him. However, Matt already knew that she wasn't taking it easy at the moment; not when he could see that her mind was spinning over what she may have to deal with. So, he decided to try and change her mind by kissing her shoulder as he rubbed her back and showed her some love. Some intimate love.

After all, that's precisely what Gabby needs at the moment: her husband's unconditional love and support during this hard time.

Not that Matt wouldn't ever love and support his wife through anything and everything she has to deal with, as that's something she can already expect from him whenever she gets in trouble. He's going to be by her side, helping her through whatever problem she's dealing with. And right now, he's helping her do that by helping her relax and just take it easy in the comfort of their bath. Not that he would ever do anything other than that. Matt loves his wife more than anything and he wants to do anything and everything to help her relax right now. And that's precisely what he decided to remind his wife about. "I hope you remember that I will always do this for you." Looking up at the man of her dreams, Gabby smiled as she already knew precisely what he was talking about: he was talking about him spending quality time with her so that they can take it easy with each other and just relax. And right now, that's precisely what the two of them are doing as they enjoyed their bath. "I know, and I think I might take you up on it more often." Matt smiled.

I mean, what husband wouldn't like the idea of them taking a bath with each other on a regular basis? It's perfect: the way he gets to run his hands all over his wife's naked, wet body as you sit with each other in the bath; it's perfect and exactly what he wants to do whenever she needs it. And if it helps Gabby relax and just take it easy, then that's precisely what he's going to do for her whenever she needs him to; just like he's also going to do whatever he can to help her get through this hard time. "Whatever you need Gabby. I hope you know that I mean that. You're my wife, I love you, and that's all that matters at the end of the day. I vowed to love and support you first and foremost, so that's precisely what I'm going to do." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she laid her head down on his chest and wrapped her arms around his muscular body. Meanwhile, Matt placed his hand on her arm and smiled as he soon moved his hand to the back of her head. Turning his head, Matt smiled as he pressed his lips and just held the woman he loves close.

After which, he looked down into her eyes and smiled at his beautiful wife, while also placing his hand on her back and stroking it with his thumb. "You seem much more relaxed already." Nodding, Gabby agreed with her husband as she most certainly is much more relaxed compared to how she was before they got in the bath. "I can't help but wonder if that's how you feel too, much more relaxed. I know that you're still stressed out a bit too." Matt agreed with his wife, well aware that was the case. "I know you're worried about me. Hell, we're both worried about each other." Gabby smirked. "That's precisely what we do as husband and wife. We worry about one another and how we are. And I just know that this is exactly what we need right now." Matt smirked, as he agreed with his wife. "I just wish we would've done something else before we got in the bath." Gabby laughed, as she already knew what her husband was talking about: he was talking about them taking it nice and easy with each other in the comfort of their bed while making sweet love.

Sweet, passionate love which only a husband and wife can share with each other when they're naked in bed together.

And man, does Gabby love being naked in her husband's arms; she just doesn't know where she prefers being naked in his arms: here in their bath, or in their bed. They're both so comfortable, and they're both places which they can show each other some love. But right now, as they held each other close and just took it easy with each other, it felt perfect and like it was exactly where they were supposed to be right now. This is the only place that they need to be right now, as they need to relax and just take it easy in the comfort of their bath; and later, their bed. "Why do I feel like this is where we need to be right now?" Gabby laughed, as she felt the same way. "I was just thinking the same way, how this is where we need to be. How I need to be held in your arms, as we take it easy with each other and just hold each other close." Matt agreed with his wife, as he knew how she felt. "Yeah, this is exactly what we need. Yet, the more you talk about it, the less relaxed you're going to be." Gabby agreed with her husband, loving how he knows her.

How he knows her so well, so that he can help her and just make sure that she relaxes when she needs to. And right now, that's precisely what she needs to do ahead of another shift tomorrow. Though, she also knows that she's not the only one that needs to relax. "And you. I hope you know that I feel the same way about you, you need to relax too baby ahead of work." Matt agreed with his wife, glad that she was thinking about him. "I love that you're taking care of me, just like I'm taking care of you." Gabby laughed, well aware that he feels the way. "I mean, how can I not take care of you? We're married." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled as he turned his head and pressed his lips to her forehead. After which, he ran his hand down her back as a way to tease her. And let's just say that Gabby loved that feeling. And she especially loved the feeling of his wedding band on her spine, which is precisely what she has right now. "God, I love the feeling of that nice wedding band on my back." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled at her.

He then pressed his lips to her forehead once more, smiling as he looked down; after which, he bent down and kissed the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world. Just taking things nice and slow with Gabby, Matt wrapped his arm around her lower back and just smirked due to the fact that they're both very happy over the fact that they're holding each other in the bath like this. "Now, that's perfect. The way we're holding each other is exactly how I need to be held." Matt agreed with his wife, prior to continuing to take things nice and slow with Gabby as he wrapped his legs around hers so that he can ensure that they both stay close to each other; not that she plans on going anywhere when she's so comfortable in her husband's arms. "You know that I'm not going anywhere, right?" Matt smirked. "I just like teasing you like this." Gabby agreed with her husband, well aware that was the case. "I know what you mean." Moving his hand to her back, Matt smiled as he rubbed it and just held the woman he loves close to him.

Meanwhile, Gabby nuzzled her head in the crook of his neck as she always does when they're holding each other close, which is something that Matt loves the feeling of since it makes him feel so loved; hell, it makes Gabby feel so loved simply due to the fact that her husband is holding her close in the comfort of their bath. "So, what are we going to do after the bath? Do you need to rest or fall asleep?" Matt sighed, as he didn't know what they were going to do. "Honestly, I think that we just need to take it easy and relax. Maybe we can even just get in bed and hold each other until we fall asleep in each other's arms." Gabby smiled, as she knew that's precisely what they need to do. "We going to take a shower with each other in the morning?" Matt smirked as he grabbed the back of her head, prior to bending down and kissing the woman he loves. "We'll see. Depends what time we wake up. You know how you always like to sleep in a bit." Gabby agreed with Matt, smirking at him. "It's because I'm so comfortable in your arms!"

Matt agreed with his wife as he ran his hand down her back once more, only to kiss her once more; taking things slow with her at the same time, he just smiled due to the fact that this is exactly what they both want right now. They want to hold each other close for the rest of the night, so that they can have this time with each other. "I love spending time with each other." Gabby agreed with Matt, as she felt the same way. She loves spending time with her husband, especially when they're both extremely comfortable in each other's arms. "Listen, let's just take it easy and relax. That's why we got in the bath in the first place. I want to get my mind to shut off for when we get in bed to go to sleep." Matt agreed with his wife as he pressed his lips to her forehead, as that's precisely what he wants to do. He wants to just hold her in silence so that they can both fall asleep as soon as they get in bed. So, that's precisely what they both did: they sat down in silence as they took it easy with each other, just relaxing and concentrating on each other this evening.

He made sure to get his uniform out of the closet so that it was ready for when he needs to get dressed in the morning, prior to setting it down on his dresser. At the same time, he decided to put on some deodorant so that he smelt good for his wife; something which Gabby appreciated as she walked out of their closet in some shorts and a tank top. "I see we had the same idea." Turning his head, Matt snickered when he saw Gabby holding her uniform. "We both know that it's just easier for us to have our things out in the morning." Gabby agreed with her husband as she walked over to her dresser, only to set her clothes down. "Yeah, it's just easier so that I know what I'm going to wear." Gabby snickered when Matt said that. "Yeah, because you need to really figure that out. You already know what you're going to wear because it's routine." Matt nodded. "Well, I could wear short sleeves or long sleeves." Gabby agreed with her husband, only to walk over to their bed so that she can sit down and just take it easy tonight.

But on her way to bed, she yawned as a way to show her husband that she was tired…unintentionally. After all, the last thing she wanted to show her husband was that she was tired, as she wanted to have a bit of time with the man she loves. However, she just hopes that he didn't pull anything. "Promise me that you don't pull anything?" Setting his deodorant down, Matt sighed as he turned around and make his way over to Gabby. Walking up to her, Matt wrapped his arms around his wife and then kissed the top of her head. "Hey, look up at me." Gabby agreed with her husband, while doing just that for the man she loves. "I promise. I know that you're tired, and I know that you need to take it easy ahead of work. I promise." Placing her hand on Matt's toned chest, Gabby agreed with her loving husband and just smiled as she leaned up to kiss him softly. Meanwhile, Matt placed his hands on her neck and smirked as he took things nice and slow with the woman of his dreams. "I love you, and I want to just hold you in my arms."

Gabby agreed with Matt. "Just like we did in the bath. Speaking of which, that's precisely what I wanted to do tonight. It was the best way for me to relax and just take it easy. It's everything I needed, and I appreciate it more than anything in the entire world." Stepping close to Gabby, Matt wrapped his arms around his wife and just smiled as he leaned in and kissed the woman of his dreams; while she wrapped her arms around his back so that they can take things nice and slow with each other. "I love you Matt." Matt agreed with his wife. "I love you too Matt, and I am more than ready to just take it easy with you." Gabby smirked, well aware that was the case as she grabbed his hand to lead him back to bed. After which, she intertwined their fingers and smiled. "Let me guess, you're ready to just take it easy?" Gabby nodded. "I need to shut off my brain and just take it easy, if that's ok?" Matt agreed with his wife, as it most certainly is okay. "Hey, of course it's ok. You need to take it easy and just relax, I get that." Gabby smiled, as that sounds perfect.

After which, she walked right up to the side of their bed and turned around to face the man of her dreams. Meanwhile, Matt walked up to Gabby and smirked as he wrapped his arms around her once more; while she wrapped her arms around his back and smiled at the man she loves. Looking up into his eyes, Gabby smirked; while Matt bent down and placed his hand on her neck while kissing her. "God, I love you and I am so glad that we're both in this together. You're my rock, and I hope you know that Gabby." Gabby agreed with her husband, as she most certainly does know that she's his rock. "We always have each other's backs and that's just a fact." Matt smirked, agreeing with the woman he loves prior to kissing her softly once more. "Listen, I think we both know that we need to get to sleep." Gabby agreed. "At least we don't need to take a shower in the morning." Matt nodded. "Agreed. But, how about you get in bed so that we can relax and just take it easy?" Gabby agreed with her husband, prior to walking over to the bed.

Climbing into it, Gabby just smiled due to the fact that this is exactly what she needs to do right now. She needs to get in bed so that they can hold each other close and just take it easy, which is precisely what they're going to do the moment they get in bed with each other. However, Matt just had to do something else first: take a minute to admire the woman he loves in her lingerie. "God, you look so sexy in that." Gabby agreed with Matt, smirking as she moved over in bed so that she could get Matt to join her. "I think you look sexy in your boxers. However, I would really like it if you just got in bed with me so that we can hold each other close." Matt smiled as he went to get in bed with the woman of his dreams, only to get nice and close to her, while closing the covers on top of the both of them. After which, Gabby wrapped her arms around his muscular torso right away, something she always does when they get in bed. Meanwhile, Matt placed his hand on her back and smirked as he looked at the woman he loves, while she put her hand on his chest.

The toned chest that she loves cuddling up to whenever she gets a chance to do so, especially when they're in bed with each other; while Matt wrapped his arm around her back some more as he placed his hand on her back and leaned his forehead against hers. Smiling at the woman of his dreams, Matt leaned in and just started to take things nice and slow with the most beautiful woman in the entire world. "I love you, and I promise that we're in this together. I know you have a lot of worries right now, but we both know that we can take it easy just as long as we're in it together." Gabby agreed with Matt, well aware that was the case. "I love the sound of that. However, I know that tomorrow is going to be a bit harder due to the fact that we have the dedication." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, which led her to wonder whether he was worried about that. "Are you worried about that? Whether it may cause drama or something?" Matt sighed as he rolled over onto his back, bringing Gabby with him to hold her on his chest.

Meanwhile, Gabby cuddled up to the man of her dreams and wrapped her arms around his torso right away; while Matt tugged the covers up on top of the both of them and wrapped his arm around her back. "I mean, we had drama on the first shift back. So, what are the odds that there's not going to be drama on the second day back?" Gabby nodded, well aware that was the case. So, she just cuddled up to her man as she bent down and kissed his chest. At the same time, Matt brought the covers up on top of the both of them and just smiled as he ran his hand up and down her back; while Gabby ran her hand up and down her loving husband's chest, who soon turned his head and pressed his lips to the top of her head. "I mean, who knows what's going to happen. Sure, I spoke to Severide today at Andy's place, but I'm not sure what's going to happen. I just hope that he listened to me when we were at Andy's place, as I do not want to deal with that type of drama again. It's hard to deal with as Captain." Gabby agreed with her husband.

After all, that was something that always concerned her: whether her husband was going to get too deep or become too overworked. Whether he would start to crash and go crazy with all this work he had to do. So, Gabby decided to make sure that Matt knew that he can always put his health first. "Matt, I want you to make sure that you put your health first. If you need a minute to take it easy, then I want you to go to Chief Boden and tell him that you need to take a break." Matt agreed with his wife as he pressed his lips to her forehead, while he ran his fingers up and down Gabby's back. "I like the sound of that." Gabby agreed with Matt as she ran her hand up and down his chest. "Matt, we're in this together, I promise." Matt smirked as he agreed with his wife, well aware that was the case as he turned his head and kissed the top of her head. "I love you babe." Gabby agreed with Matt. "I love you too, Matt." Bending down, Matt kissed the woman he loves nice and slowly until they fell asleep in each other's arms.

Firehouse 51 – October 12, 2012
So far, the morning has been uneventful and standard. Nothing was different. They got up, took a shower (together), had a bit of sex in the shower, got dressed, had breakfast, and then left. All the while, they were both quite quiet. The reason? Gabby asked Matt for it. She wanted to just have a quiet morning, as she didn't know what was going to happen today: what types of crazy calls that she may get today on Ambo, or what she may have to deal with when it came to the repercussions of the events of their last shift. And boy, was Gabby glad to have such a loving, caring, and understanding husband. And he not only did everything Gabby asked him to do, but he went above and beyond: he took care of her, made her breakfast; while she just got sit down and take it easy, even though he did have a bit of work to do as well as Captain. And he did it all with pleasure for one simple reason: due to the fact that he loves his wife more than anything. But now that they were at work, there was just something about Gabby that made Matt worry.

He was worried due to the fact that she just seemed so tense, even though she wasn't on a call. So, he decided to walk out of the firehouse and towards the ambulance to talk to his wife for a moment, even though she was talking to Shay. "Hey Shay?" Turning her head when she heard her captain speak to her, Shay smiled. "Yeah, Casey?" Matt smiled. "Do you mind if I talk to Gabby for a moment?" Nodding, Shay agreed as she knew that Matt wouldn't ask to talk to his wife alone if he wasn't worried about her, which is precisely what Matt was, especially when he knew that today was going to be a long day for the both of them. "I see that look in your eyes that you're worried about something." Gabby sighed as she watched Matt walk up to her and grab her hand, only to intertwine their fingers as they stood with each other at the back of the ambo. "You don't have to worry about me. I got it." Matt shook his head. "No, I do. You're my wife, and that means that I get to worry about you." Gabby agreed with her husband and smiled.

After which, she felt him let go of her hand and place his hand on the side of her head; prior to pressing his lips to her forehead, while she wrapped her arms around his back and just held him close to her. After which, Matt smiled as he looked down at the woman he loves while stroking her cheek. Kissing her, Matt smirked as he knew that this is precisely what she needs from him right now. "Remember what I told you yesterday, we're in this together and will always be in this together." Gabby agreed with her husband as he said that, only to hear Boden come out of the firehouse and speak with his trademark deep voice. "Dawson. Shay. Which one of you put a needle in a girls' heart?" Turning their heads to look at Boden when he asked them that question, both of the paramedics were nervous; none more so that the paramedic who actually did it: Gabriela Casey. She was just glad that she had her husband by her side when she had to answer the question, as it was what she needed: her husband to stand by her as they dealt with this together.

The two paramedics and Chief Boden all walked into the tower with each other so that they could speak about the situation, and that was the original plan; until Casey insisted that he came with them. After all, he made a vow to his wife to love and support her during the hard times; and this is one of the hard times, due to the fact that she's so worried about it. So, there was no way in hell that he wasn't going to come join her inside. He was going to be there with her, as he wanted to make sure that she knew that he was with her all the way. And not just because they were married, though that was a given since he vowed to love and support her; but because he honestly believes in her skills as an individual. He believes in the woman he knows is a great paramedic, which is why he was standing next to her rather than Chief Boden. "Casey, if you want to step away, you can." Casey shook his head. "I'm Gabby's husband, and I told her that I would stand by her during this time she's been worried about. Whatever you have to say, I'm here for it."

Chief Boden agreed, as that made sense. "Ok. Well, then how about you tell me what happened?" Gabby sighed, as she went ahead and did just that. "Well, her heart was stopping, and we pulled over; then, I did what we had to do." Shay then added on. "It was the right thing to do." However, Chief Boden wasn't so sure. "Do you know who your union rep is?" Both Mr. and Ms. Casey were shocked. "Chief…" Chief shook his head. "You two, stick together." He then proceeded to walk away, unimpressed; while Matt just looked at his wife, prior to wrapping his arm around her and pressing his lips to her forehead…something which she truly appreciated since she needed it right now. She needed to be held by her husband, as she dealt with the aftermath. "Gabby, you did the right thing. You know that, right?" Gabby agreed with Shay. "I know, because I saved her life for a while." Matt then proceeded to rub his wife's back and just sighed as he could tell she was worried. "Listen, let's go sit down somewhere and we can talk, okay?" Gabby agreed with her husband.

After which, she led him away to his office where they could sit with each other. After all, that's where they always sit and talk. "How did I not guess that this was going to happen in my office?" Gabby shrugged, as he really should've known. "Beats me, that's where we always go when I need you." Walking by Matt when he heard him say that, Andy smirked and went to speak out. "Watch out 51, the Caseys are going to try for a baby today!" Turning his head when he heard Andy say that, Matt shook his head as he wasn't impressed. So, he turned to look at Gabby and sighed. "How about you go to my office? We can talk in a minute." Gabby agreed as she walked away to go sit in Matt's office, just like she needs to do right now. Meanwhile, Matt turned his head and looked at his best friend. "Seriously, Andy?" Andy just smirked. "What? I'm kidding." Matt sighed. "Andy, Gabby just got told by Chief that she needs to talk to her Union Rep after that situation that we talked about over supper." Andy got nervous when he heard Matt say that.

After which, he just knew that it wasn't a time to joke. "Yeah, bad time for a joke." Matt agreed with Andy. "Listen, I love you and I love your kids. But, you need to take it easy and just relax right now. Right now, I need to talk to my wife and be there for her." Andy agreed, as he knew that was precisely what he needed to do for Gabby. "Then what are you still doing out here? Go be with Gabby so that you can help her out with this." Matt agreed, smiling as he knew that was precisely what he needed to do right now. So, rather than waste another minute, he just walked away to go talk to his wife in his office so that they can figure this out together. Figure out what they're going to do about the situation at hand: one that could lead to his wife loosing her job.

Casey's Quarters – She was sitting in his bunk, taking a moment to breathe and try and relax after speaking to Chief. About what this could mean for her job. How she could lose her job, causing blowback on her husband's reputation. And that's the last thing she wants. She doesn't want her actions to cause problems for Matt. However, it will because they're linked in official documents. While she may go by Dawson at the firehouse, that's not her name legally. Ever since they got married, her name has been Gabriela Marie Casey in all legal documents at the CFD; which means that there's a direct correlation between her and Matt. And that worries her, as her actions may lead to her getting fired, so what does that mean for him. And, as expected, Matt already knew that she was thinking about just that: how her actions may cause problems for him and his job. "I'm standing by you, regardless of what happens." Turning her head to look at Matt, Gabby sighed as she looked at her husband. "Matt, I can't expect you to do that. Not when the stakes…."

Making his way into his quarters, Matt sighed as he closed the door behind him. After which, he walked right up to Gabby prior to bending down in front of her. "Hey, look at me." Gabby agreed with her husband as he told her to look at her, which she did right away when she felt his hands on her legs; a type of intimacy that he rarely does at work, as this isn't a place the two of them like to show affection with each other. Here, they like being professional and an example to others. But right now, they couldn't. "Gabby, just take a breath and look at me. Right now, ignore the white shirt; okay?" Gabby agreed with Matt, before slipping over on his bed so that he can join her; after which, Matt just nodded as he got up so that he could do just that. So that he could get on his bed with her, which would lead to him holding her close just like she wants him to right now. And as he sat down, he made sure to wrap his arm around her and just smile as they both held each other close. "Now, this is nice." Gabby agreed with her husband and smiled as it was nice.

The feeling of his arms around her is always something she enjoys, especially when she needs comfort; just like she needs right now. She needs her husband's comfort, which is who Matt is right now. "So, I want you to listen for a minute. Can you do that?" Gabby agreed, as she can most certainly do that. And she did so as she turned her head and looked up at him. "Gabby, you know that me being a Captain here means so much less than being your husband. You're my wife, and the love of my life. You're the only woman I want. I mean that." Gabby agreed with Matt and smiled as she placed her hand on his face, kissing him softly in the process. "I love you." Matt agreed, as he loves her too. "I love you too. Now, like I said. Right now, I'm not Captain Casey at the moment. Right now, your husband, I'm the Mr. to your Ms. Casey." Gabby agreed with Matt. "And that's why you can talk to me about this, without having to worry that I'm going to turn on you just because of my rank. Gabby, I know you. I know you do what's best for your patient."

Gabby agreed, as that's all she ever does: she does what's best for her patient. "At least, that's what I thought I did." Matt nodded, as she did to what was best for her patient. "Hey, you did. You most certainly did do what's best for your patient. You probably saved their life, even if just for a little while." Gabby agreed with her husband, as she knew that could be true. "And that means that you did the right thing in my book. Our jobs are to save lives, and do whatever we can in our power to do so; which is precisely what you did. You saved a life Gabby, and I don't know how you can be punished for that." He said, as he pressed his lips to her forehead. "And that's why I'm standing by you. You're my wife and partner in crime." And let's just say that made Gabby laugh a bit, since it was quite funny. It was exactly what she needed to hear, especially since she loves her husband more than anything. "I hope you know just how much it means to me that you're going to stand by me." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled. "There was no other choice." Gabby smiled.

After which, she went to lean up and kiss him…but they were interrupted by a call. "Truck 81, Engine 51, Squad 3, Ambo 61." Hearing all of the companies get called out, Gabby went to get up first and smiled as she went to run away, which led to Matt getting up and doing the same, while also being a bit playful with his wife. "Race you!" He said, prior to running away so that they can both make their way out to the apparatus floor and get out to the call.

Note to Readers: I have no intention of covering calls during this re-write process. It's too long to do it all. So, I hope you guys enjoy the parts that I do cover. Thanks again for reading, and I'll see you with the next part of the show I cover.
