Hi Readers: And welcome to another chapter based on the Pilot. What could be my last one unless I come up with something new. I want to thank you guys for reading the story, and I hope that you guys continue to enjoy it. Now, back to the Pilot.

Pilot, Part 10
Union

October 13, 2012 – They were in the same place as they were a month ago: with a member of his team in the hospital. However, at least he wasn't dying, if that was even a good thing. All Casey knew was that he had a lot on his mind, even more than he had before. Add in the fact that his wife is now having problems the Union, and that just makes things worse. However, he can only hope that he can help her now that he was here and done in the shower this morning; at least, if he can do anything. But, based on the face he was seeing on his wife's face as he came into the locker room, he wasn't so sure that was the case; especially not when he heard the last part of her call. "Do you think there's going to be a hearing?" Stopping in his tracks, Matt decided to wait to walk past his wife in his towel as he didn't want to distract her or make her feel like she can't talk to her lawyer. "Ok. Thank you." She said as she ended the call with whoever she was talking to about her union problems, which led to Matt walking up behind her and taking a breath.

After which, he placed his hand on her shoulder to show her that he was here. "Hey." Turning her head to look up at Matt, Gabby took a breath. "Hey." Matt sighed as he looked at the woman he loves. "I can only assume that the call with the union didn't go good?" He said, as he bent down and kissed the top of his beautiful wife's head; wanting to show her the love and support that she needs from him right now. "And don't you dare lie to me, or else you aren't getting a ride to the hospital to see Herrmann." Gabby smiled as she heard Matt tell her that, only to look up at the man of her dreams this Saturday morning. Meanwhile, Matt bent down and kissed her softly. "I love you." Gabby smiled as he told her that he loves her, as she loves him too. "I love you too." Matt agreed as he made his way over to his locker so that he could go get dressed, rather than stay in his towel; though, he's sure Gabby wishes he would.

After all, he can see her eyeing him all the way to his locker. "I see you looking at me as I walk over to my locker, which means that you like what you see: me just wearing a towel as I walk around." Gabby agreed with her husband, as she most certainly does like it when he's just wearing a towel. "Oh, you know I do." She said, flirting with her husband as he opened his locker so that he can get dressed, which is precisely what he needs to do anyways. "I didn't see you grab any boxers on the way to the shower. You forget them?" Matt sighed. "I wore my old ones, which had to go in the trash since they were ruined by that last fire." Gabby agreed with her husband. "Speaking of which, are you okay? I know that was a hard one." Matt snickered. "I think I should be the one asking you that considering you have to deal with the union now." Bending down, Matt went to go put his boxers on underneath his towel prior to taking it off and setting it down on the bench. "Now, back to the union problems." Gabby sighed. "Matt, I got it." Matt sighed.

After all, that's the last thing he wants to hear. "Gabby, You're my wife. You're the woman I love, and you're not going to be dealing with this alone." He said, as he opened his locker and went to grab his jeans. After which, he pulled them out and went to put them on. "That means that you're going to have me by your side if you need to go testify in a meeting. I already told Boden that I need to take that whatever day you're going to the board off so that I can go with you." Smiling as she looked at her husband while he finished doing up his pants and sitting down to put his socks on, Gabby smiled as he truly is the man she loves. "I swear, how did I get so lucky when it came to husbands?" Matt smiled as he grabbed his socks and bent down to put them on, only to grab his pants and put them on. "Well, you didn't get lucky. All I'm doing is my job to be loving and supportive of my wife." He said, while standing up and doing his pants. After which, he went to grab his shirt from his locker and went to put it on. "And that's not me flirting with you."

Gabby laughed as she heard Matt say that, prior to getting up and making her way over to her husband. "Here, you want some help with your shirt?" Matt agreed with Gabby as she walked up to him, letting her grab his shirt so that she can do it up; meanwhile, he placed his hands on her hips and smiled as he stepped close to her and just held the woman he loves close to his chest. At the same time, he kissed her forehead and just smiled because of how happy he is when they're together, which is precisely why they're married. "I love you, and I promise that we're going to get through this together. More specifically, the union stuff. So, how about you talk to me about it while you're doing up my shirt?" Gabby agreed with Matt, doing just that. "Yeah, they're starting a file on me." Matt agreed with his wife. "Hey, at least it's not worse than that. Sure, they can start a file…but it's not a suspension or anything." Gabby agreed with her husband as she stepped close to him and wrapped her arms around him. "Always looking on the bright side."

She said as she smiled and kissed her husband softly. "I love you." Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife, as he loves her too. "I love you too, and I want you to know that you really have me by your side in this." Matt said, as he backed up and then went to do up his shirt once more; only to have Gabby grab it instead and do it for him. "I know, and I'm happy; this is going to be a hard thing to get through and I have no idea how I'm going to deal with it." Placing his hands on Gabby's arms, Matt smiled as he agreed with his wife. "You're going to deal with it just like you always do. With grace and dignity." Gabby agreed with Matt as he told her that, well aware that was the case. "That doesn't mean that it's going to be easy." Matt shook his head, as he doubts that it'll be easy. "I never said that it'd be easy. However, what I do know is that you have someone by your side forever." Gabby smiled as she agreed with Matt. "Listen, how about we talk about something else. I don't want this stress on me right now." Matt agreed with his wife. "Herrmann?" Gabby agreed.

After which, she sighed. "How is he?" Matt shrugged. "All I know is that we can't lose another one this soon. We haven't even memorialized Otis yet, and I am not ready to lose another guy on my truck." Gabby agreed with her husband. "Matt, forget the problems I have right now and look into my eyes. Tell me the truth when I ask you this: how hard are you taking the fact that Herrmann's hurt right now?" Matt sighed as he looked into Gabby's eyes. "Gabby, that's easier said than done. You're my wife, I love you and I'm always going to be worried for your problems." Gabby agreed with her husband. "But, when it comes to the fact that Herrmann's hurt, I'm not going to lie and say that it doesn't concern me that he's hurt. I don't want him to be hurt, because I want him to be okay. And right now, I can't lose another guy on truck." Gabby agreed with her husband again, prior to getting up and making her way over to Matt. After which, she hugged him and just smiled as she held him close. "It'll be ok. I promise Matt."

Matt agreed with his wife as he wrapped his arms around her and just smiled as they both held each other close, as this is precisely what they both need to do right now: just take it easy as they hold each other close. "Listen, I don't want to take too long. We need to head to the hospital." And just then, like clockwork, it was as if Andy knew that they were having a moment as husband and wife. "Speaking of which, can I get a ride? I was going to walk home since the weather's nice, but we're going to the hospital." Turning their heads, Matt, and Gabby both smiled as they looked at their friend. "Of course, you can get a ride. Let's just pack up and get out of here to go to the hospital so that we can check on Herrmann." Gabby agreed with Matt as she went to grab her bag. Meanwhile, Matt grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers so that he can give her the reassurance that everything's going to be okay that she needs. After which, he brought her hand up to his lips and took a breath as he knew Gabby was worried right now.

Meanwhile, Gabby laid her head down on his arm as they got ready to check on Herrmann at the hospital.

Lakeshore Memorial Hospital – He was always weary coming here to Lakeshore, due to the fact that his ex-fiancé works here; and because he knows that she still has a thing for him, regardless of the fact that he's married to Gabby. And it just so has it that she was the one working in the reception. "Matt." Looking up, Matt bit his lip as he hadn't expected to see Hallie there. "Hi Hallie." Hallie smirked as she decided to flirt with him. "How've you been. So sorry about the…" Rolling her eyes, Gabby just looked at her husband to try and tell him to get her to shut up, which he promptly did. "Hallie, just stop it. I'm married to Gabby, and you know why I ended things with you. It's over, in the past. I'm married now; so, stop acting like there's a chance for me and you to get back together." Hallie sighed, agreeing with him. "Fine." Matt then decided to ask her. "How's Herrmann? Did you see him." Hallie nodded. "I saw him, but I'm in the PICU today." Matt snickered, as it was comical. After all, she never wanted kids. "Oh, baby. Madeleine."

Matt smiled and nodded. "Speaking of which, there's a little girl here. We responded to a crash with her. Her name is Madeleine. Pinned in from the Columbus Draw Bridge." Walking over the charts that they had near the patient desk, Hallie smiled. "Madeleine Pokerish. Vitals are stable, released by the end of the week." Gabby just felt relieved when she heard Hallie say that, prior to hugging her husband and just letting out a huge sigh of relief based on how relieved she is. "God, that's such a relief." Matt agreed as he held Gabby close to him, well aware that she was quite worried over the fact that the little girl may not make it. "Hey, it's ok. She'll be ok." Gabby smiled as she agreed with her husband, quite happy over the fact that she'll be okay. "Uhm, do you know anything on Herrmann, Christopher?" The doctor shook his head. "I'm in the PICU." Matt and Gabby both agreed when they heard the doctor say that, which led to Matt turning his head and looking at the woman he loves. "Want to go sit down and just take it easy?"

Gabby agreed, as that's precisely what she wants to do. She wants to go sit down with the rest of their friends, so that they can stay here and see if they get any news on Herrmann. "I'd like that. I want to wait and see if we get news on Herrmann." Matt agreed with his wife, while walking away with her to go sit down on some of the chairs. At the same time, he glanced at Hallie as he wasn't happy that she flirted with him in front of his own wife. And now that she's seen them together again, he can only hope that it means that she already knows that they're done and that they can take it easy. He and Gabby want to live a nice life with each other, which is what they already have. Now, just to hope that Herrmann is okay.

Quick Note: While I did spend a while on this episode, I've decided that I'm going to just start picking and choosing which parts of an episode I cover. And the truth is, I may just cover important parts of shifts and parts where Matt was with Hallie to make it Dawsey. I hope that you guys understand and continue to enjoy the story. Thanks again for reading.
