Owl House Season 1 Episode 21 – Young Blood, Old Souls Part 1

It's been a couple hours since Luke's emotional breakdown in the living room…a couple hours since Eda had been captured by Lilith. Luke explained everything that happened to King and Hooty and as expected they were horrified to hear what happened. After healing up, recovering and changing into his regular clothes, Luke has been in his room wallowing in despair over the loss of his mentor, friend and second mother-figure. Luke didn't know what to do.
King is reading from a book focused on the history of Belos and the Boiling Isles. The book's name: The Unauthorized History of the Boiling Isles.
King: The Boiling Isles, born from the flesh and bones of a fallen Titan. This original magic was so potent, all life on the Isles evolved to wield magic too. For years, we explored those power freely. Until a mysterious witch appeared who declared that he, and he alone, could speak to the island. He said that we were using magic all wrong. His teachings took hold, his strength grew, and he became... Emperor Belos. Belos said that mixing magic was wrong, that only he had that right. So, he created the coven system. And there, our knowledge was restricted, and our potential sealed away. Those who resist are called wild witches, and they face harsh punishment. Emperor Belos has since retreated into his castle. There are whispers that say he's planning something big.
King stops reading from the book while Luke is sat by the window ceiling, looking out his window in despair, holding his new dark blue battle coat that Eda made for him.
King: I wonder if catching Eda was part of his big plan. What do you think, Luke? Luke doesn't respond. Luke?
Luke says nothing as he stares at a note Eda left for him:
"To a young witch warrior from his proud mentor, EDA".
He clutches his cloak as he wallows in pity. King could only look at Luke in sorrow, he can tell he feels guilty about what happened to Eda. He walks up clutching the book.
King: Luke, I know you're upset, but…you can't blame yourself for what happened. This isn't your fault?
Luke: Yes, it is. I blew it. Because of me Eda's been caught and there's nothing I can do to save her.
King: But maybe there is something we can do! We gotta save Eda!
Luke: Luke looks to King, angry. Us and what army? I've lost Rebellion and my Glyph Guns, King! I'm useless without them! And we don't have any allies that can help us!
Luke hears a knock on his room door. Hooty must've let someone in but Luke's in no mood to speak with anyone.
Luke: Go away!
Seconds later, knocking is heard again, and an annoyed Luke puts down his coat to walk over.
Luke: I'm trying to wallow in self-guilt! He opens it. Get the hell out of-!
Amity: LUKE!
Luke is surprised when a girl tackles him for a huge hug. And that girl was Amity, close to crying on his shoulder. She's also been healed, changed into her casual clothes and her hair is back to normal. Luke blushes a little from her hug before she pulls back, holding Luke's shoulders with a smile of joyful relief.
Amity: You're okay! Thank Titan!
Luke: A-Amity!? W-what are you doing!?
Amity: When I heard what happened at the Emperor's Castle, I just had to come see if you were alright!
Luke: Well…as you can see, I'm fine. Luke's face fell. But…the same can't be said for Eda…
Amity: Amity's face fell with his. I…know what happened to her, everyone in Bonesborough do. I'm sorry, Luke.
Luke turns to walk back to his window regretfully.
Luke: Why? You weren't the one who got Eda captured.
Amity follows her crush and King joins him, both have pleading and worried looks.
Amity: Luke…you can't blame yourself for this! What happened to Eda wasn't your fault! None of this was your fault!
Luke: It was because of my stupid stunt to steal the Healing Hat that got Eda captured, Amity!
Amity: Me, Willow and Gus went along with it instead of trying to talk you out! It was our fault too!
Luke turns, his eyes threatening to tear up as he thumbs at himself in anger.
Luke: But it was MY idea to steal the hat! MY mission! MY mistake! MY fault!
King: You were just trying help cure Eda of her curse!
Luke sits on the window ceiling again as he rants in regret and holds his new coat again.
Luke: And how did that turn out!? Her curse is even worse than ever! If I hadn't tried to steal that dumb hat, Lilith wouldn't have captured me, and Eda wouldn't have come to save me! Now she's been captured, and she's stuck in her Owl Beast Form! This time for good! Luke punches the window, cracking a slightly. Dammit! If I had just stayed in my world waiting for my bus none of this would've happened!
Amity and King could only stare at Luke in sorrow.
Amity: Oh, Luke…
King: He's been like this for the past couple of hours. I don't know what to do.
Amity continues looking at Luke. It breaks her heart to see the carefree and courageous boy who she's come to admire and love so heartbroken. She can't stand seeing Luke like this, she has to get his fighting spirit back. Amity walks up to her with a firm and fiery look.
Amity: Well?
Luke: He turns his head. Well, what?
Amity: Aren't you going to do something about it!?
Luke: There's nothing I can do, Blight! I don't have magic like, Eda! Rebellion and my Glyph Guns have been taken from me! Without them I'm just plain old Luke! What do you expect me to do? Challenge the Emperor?! I couldn't even beat Lilith or the Golden Guard when I had my weapons! Plus, with Eda in her Owl Beast form I don't think she'll even recognise me! Don't you get it! We've lost! It's over!
Amity: Now Amity is getting angry. Are you seriously this stupid and pathetic!?
King: Wyeh!
King is shocked with what Amity just said and Luke angrily got up from his ceiling, furiously glaring at her.
Luke: What did you say!?
Amity: So, that's it!? You're just giving up just like that!? The Luke I know is full of energy. He's a leader who always does his best. He's always smiling, and he never gives up. He keeps fighting to the very end. That's the Luke I've come to l-I mean, admire! She blushes but resumes getting angry. YOU'RE NOT ACTING LIKE THE LUKE I KNOW!
Luke: Luke had just about reached his limit and snaps, pointing at Amity. You don't get it… He angrily tosses his coat aside. NOBODY GETS IT! Amity is taken aback by Luke's outburst. I didn't know who I was in my world. No matter how hard I tried I could never fit in. I was an outcast in my own school, a nobody. I could never make a single friend and my mom tried to send me to summer camp because of it. Now that I find a world where I fit in, where I could learn magic, become friends with people who like what I like and an awesome teacher, it's all taken away from me. I'm all alone again.
Amity: Amity's expression softens. Luke, I know how you feel. But you're not alone in this.
Luke: How can you possibly understand how I feel Amity? You don't know what it's like to be a nobody like me.
Amity: I understand more than you think.
Luke's angered face becomes that of surprise. King watches as Amity walks up to him with a sad look.
Amity: I know when we first met, I didn't look like an outcast. But deep down…I felt like one. I've always felt like one. My mom abused me, I barely saw my dad and most of the time I didn't get along that well with my older siblings. When I became friends with Willow, I felt like somebody. She made me feel happy. Of course…that got taken away from me when my mom forced us apart. Luke looks at Amity in sorrow, remember what happened in Willow's mind. Ever since then I've been alone…forced to be friends with people I wanted nothing to do with. I pretended to be a bully to cover up the fact that I didn't know my place…She gives Luke a warm smile as she took his hand and gazes into his eyes. Until I met you, Luke. You became the first true friend I ever made in a long time. Because of you…I'm happy again and I can't thank you enough for that. If you had stayed in your world, we wouldn't have met. I'd still be a miserable bully and Willow and Gus would still be getting picked on. You do a lot of stupid things sure, but…you do them because you care so much about others. And it's one of the things I've come to admire so much about you.
Luke is touched by the words coming from Amity's mouth. Words he thought he'd never hear from her since they first met.
Amity: I understand loneliness. I understand being an outcast. But you're not alone Luke. You've got us. We're your friends. And we're in this together.
Luke: Amity…
Luke processes everything she said and immediately feels guilty for yelling at her. He may not have his teacher, but he still has friends, friends he can count on that haven't been taken away from him. As a result, he smiles at Amity.
Luke: Yeah…you're right. Amity smiles back. I'm sorry, Ams. I shouldn't have snapped at you like that. I know you were just trying to help me. You're right, I'm not alone. I still have you guys.
Amity smiles to see she was able to make Luke smile too.
Amity: It's okay. There's no need to apologise, Luke. A lot has happened. It's okay to let it all out. I know what that's like. And that's right, you do have us…and we're with you Luke.
Luke: But still…how am I going to save Eda without my weapons?
King: King approached Luke, coat in hand. You don't need Rebellion or your Glyph Guns, Luke. You've been kicking butt way before you even had them. You certainly didn't need them against Warden Wrath on the day we first met. And you defeated Adegast with a plastic toy sword for Titan's sake!
(Flashback)
Luke's mind flashes back to his first two days with Eda and King.
Luke and Eda fighting off the Coven the Scouts together in the market, the human boy sending Coven Scouts flying with his unnatural strength and fighting skills, throwing punches and kicks.
The trio breaking into the Conformatorium together where Luke delivered that epic axe kick to Warden Wrath and the riot he started with the other prisoners.
And then there's also the battle with Adegast when Luke tosses his plastic sword right into his forehead like a javelin.
(End of Flashback)
King: Again and again, you've shown, magic or not, you'll always keep fighting for others. Seeing you learning and fighting has inspired me and Eda. It's why she wanted to gift you with this.
King hands over the cloak and Luke takes it, giving Eda's gift a gaze. Both Amity and King smile at Luke.
Amity: King's right Luke. You don't need your weapons to fight. You're amazing with or without magic. Sure, your weapons gave you magic, but in the end it's all you!
King: You've never had the common sense to give up before so why start now?
Amity: Amity clutches his hands tighter. We believe in you, Luke. I believe in you. We can do this. Repeat after me: "We can do this together".
Luke is taken aback and blushes to hear his words coming out of Amity mouth. He used a similar phrase in Willow's mind that made Amity blush and now it's being used against him. Amity smiles mischievously with a sly look in her eye as she bends slightly, looking up at Luke.
Amity: Come on, Luke. You know you wanna say it.
Luke: Luke blushes but smiles. We can do this together.
It's after saying that Luke realizes how right Amity and King are. He's been a fighter long before he even had his weapons. Rebellion may have provided him magical powers but most of it came from his skills as a martial artist and self-taught swordfighter. And he still has glyphs. He can still fight. Feeling his fighting spirt return he gives Amity and King a bigger smile filled with confidence and determination.
Luke: You know what! You're right! I'm being stupid! I can't let this get me down! I won't let it get me down! He thumbs himself confidently as Amity steps back to King. I'm Luke Noceda! Luke the Human! I've been fighting long before I had magic or fancy weapons! And I still can! I don't care if I don't have real magic or not! Lilith may have taken my weapons, but she hasn't taken my indominable fighting spirit! This isn't over, not by a long shot! Eda's in this mess because of my stupid mistake so I'm going to make up for it! She needs me! And I'm gonna bust her out!
Amity and King become overjoyed to see the Luke they know and love come back. Amity holds up her fists in happiness.
Amity: Yes, that's the spirt! That's the Luke I know!
Luke: Thanks, Amity. I really needed that. You too King.
King: Don't mention it.
Amity: I'm just glad I could help bring back your smile, Luke.
King: So, what's the plan Luke the Human?
Luke: The plan is simple King of Demons! I'm going to find out where Eda is being held, break in, bust her out and kill anyone who gets in my way!
King: Yes! The Witch Warrior is back!
Amity: You're not going alone. I'm coming with you Luke.
King: Me too.
Luke's confident face fell in concern.
Luke: Guys, I-
Amity places a finger over his lips, shutting him up.
Amity: Hush, gogglehead. I'm coming with you whether you like it or not.
King: Me and Eda don't always see eye-to-eye, but I do consider her family. I want her back as much as you do.
Amity: Eda is my friend too. We all care about her as much as you Luke. Besides, Belos is the most powerful witch who's ever lived and if you end up facing him, you'll need all the help you can get. I'm not letting you go alone Luke. Like I said, we're all in this together. And together, there's no challenge that can hold us back.
Luke smiles, touched by Amity and King's loyalty. He becomes confident again.
Luke: Alright, then. Let's do this together! For Eda!
Eda: For Eda!
King: For Eda!
Luke looks at his coat and with a hopeful smile.
Scenes shift to Eda's room of stolen weapons. He walks over to a dagger and moves it slightly, causing part of a wall to turn around, revealing Luke's battle outfit hung up on display. He walks over to it, preparing to put it on.
Amity is in Eda's room where she spots a photo of Luke, Eda and King taking a group picture together during Grom Night, the Owl Lady blushing. Amity takes it, giving it a stare of sympathy, which turns into firm resolve as he is determined to help Luke get Eda out of her situation. She puts the photo back and turns to cast a spell circle, sending it at Eda's nest and forming on it was a set of new clothes for Amity. Her own battle outfit. She picks up a long white tailcoat, giving it a stare before smiling.
Luke moves his arms through his blue t-shirt sleeves.
Amity wraps a black crop top around her.
Luke wraps on his black armbands.
Amity moves her arms through her coat sleeves.
Luke stomps the floor, having put on his black boots.
Amity lifts a leg up, stretching into a black thigh-high boot.
Luke places his signature goggles on.
Amity attaches her jar to her belt.
Finally, Luke zips up his vest.
King is pacing outside, waiting for Luke and Amity to come out of the house. He then stops when he sees the door get kicked open by Luke his battle outfit fully donned and holding his coat over his shoulder. He walks out of the Owl House with a grin of determination.
Luke: Alright! Let's get this party started!
Luke stops and stylishly spun his coat around, then himself before slipping both his arms through the sleeves. He grabs his coattails and spreads them, striking a pose and sending out a huge gust of wind, the coattails flapping in the air. He grits his teeth, smiling.
Luke: Nailed it!
King claps for his surrogate brother, loving the epic display of showmanship.
King: Ooh! Looking good! Cool showmanship too!
Luke: Luke walks over. Thanks, little buddy. So…where's Amity?
Amity: Right here.
Luke turns around and gasps, his eyes widening in shock like he's in a dream.
Amity steps out of the door wearing a long white tailcoat with violet inner linings and a sleeveless black crop top with rectangular and diamond-shaped cutouts around her neckline, as well as a belt attached from behind. She wears a white belt over black fitted pants, thigh-high black heeled boots with gold-coloured edging around the top and her jar of abominations goo is attached to the side of her belt.
As she stood out the door, she adjusts her coat, elegantly showing off her naval and shoulders before fully putting her coat on, smiling at Luke.
Amity: How do I look?
Amity's face becomes the same as Luke's when she sees him in his battle outfit for the first time, plus his coat. The two of them walk up to each other, blushing at the site of one another's outfits.
Luke: Wow…Amity, you look…you look great. I'm loving the outfit.
Amity: Oh… Amity turns redder. Thank you. Emira made it for me. She made the coat from witches' wool, said it'll come in handy.
Luke: You look beautiful in that outfit, Ams. I mean it. Amity blushes more from that compliment. And hey, look! He lifts up one of his coattails. We both have cool jackets with coattails made from witches wool. How cool is that?
Amity: Amity chuckles. Yeah, we do. I didn't realize that.
Luke: So? Luke blushes a little. How do I look?
Amity becomes flustered, trying to come up with the right words.
Amity: Oh…wow. You look…um… King nudges her leg and she clears her throat smiling. That outfit looks good on you. And…you look really handsome in that coat.
Luke: Luke turns redder from that. Thanks.
The both of them briefly looking away from each other, turning redder. King looks between them, wondering who'll speak first. Luke clears his throat, wanting to change the subject.
Luke: Hooty!
Hooty: Hooty stretches over. Reporting for duty!
Luke: King, Amity and I are going on a rescue mission! Guard the Owl House! Put it on Lockdown! If any emperor coven tools come near here, kill them! Take no prisoners!
Hooty: Can I drop them in the Boiling Seas!
Luke: Dump them in the Boiling Seas, eat 'em, knock them out, traumatise them with a tea party, I don't care. Have a party! Just make sure no one gets in here! Sacrifice your life if you have to! Just do whatever it takes to protect this place.
Hooty: SIR! YES, SIR!
Luke then looks to Amity and King, all of them brimming with fierce confidence and determination to save Eda.
Luke: Now come on team! We've got a cranky old lady to save! You ready!?
King: King throws up his fists. The King of Demons is ready for anything!
Amity: I'm more than ready.
Luke: Then there's no time to lose!
And with that, Luke, Amity and King run forth, determined to save Eda with Hooty cheering for them.
Hooty: Good luck my brave children! I'm rooting for you!
In Emperor Belos' throne room, Owl Beast Eda runs around from Lilith, destroying everything in sight. Lilith chases after her.
Lilith: Eda, stop that this instant!
Eda tears down a tapestry of Belos and begins chewing on it. Lilith casts a spell and traps Eda in a large blue bubble. Eda gives a deadly glare at her sister who approaches her.
Lilith: Don't look at me like that. This is for your own good. Emperor Belos will heal you, and we'll be in his coven together. Isn't that wonderful?
Eda blows a raspberry at Lilith, proving once again despite being in her beast form there's still some sassy Owl Lady personality in there. Lilith turns with her arms crossed.
Lilith: I will not fall prey to your childish games.
She falls prey to Eda's childish games and sticks her tongue at her while making faces. She stops when the door opens. In came six coven guards and Kikimora.
Kikimora: All kneel before Emperor Belos!
Kikimora bows and moves away from the door. Lilith kneels and a pair of glowing blue eyes approach from the darkness, eventually revealing Emperor Belos. Eda shrieks in rage and bursts out of the bubble, pouncing at Belos.
Lilith: Eda, no!
Belos vanishes before Eda can attack him, appearing behind her and telepathically throwing her against the wall, simply by lifting his finger. Eda roars in pain, falling to the floor and getting wrapped in red energy ropes by Belos. Lilith ran between Eda and Belos with a pleading look.
Lilith: My Lord, I apologize for my sister's rash behaviour. She is still in her cursed form. Once you've healed her, as promised, I am sure she will become a useful asset to the coven!
Emperor Belos summons and holds up a mechanical staff. He raises it and the orb glows red. Belos zaps Eda with red energy and when it ends Eda's eyes returned to normal, having regained enough of her senses to speak.
Eda: Where am I? What is this? Aw…farts, I got caught.
Belos walks up and bends to Eda, meeting her at last. Eda gives Belos a hateful glare.
Belos: Edalyn Clawthorne, the infamous Owl Lady, the wild witch of Bonesborough. Mentor of Luke the Human.
Eda: You stay away from him, or so help me, Titan...
Belos: Belos chuckles. You've got it all wrong. The human is safe, for now. I just want the portal he came through.
Eda: Tough, 'cause I ain't telling you nothing!
Belos: Ugh, pity. Although I suppose I could ask the human himself.
Belos snaps his fingers, and the guards run in to drag Eda away.
Eda: Wait! Don't touch him! Lilith don't let him hurt him! Lilith!
Lilith turns to his Emperor as Eda gets dragged out the door.
Lilith: Ah, taking her to the healing chamber?
Belos: I will not be healing her.
Lilith is almost speechless and shocked. Did her Emperor just refuse to cure her sister? This was his promise. The only reason Lilith went this far to force her sister into the Emperor's Coven was so her younger sister would finally be healed as promised by her Emperor. And now he's going back on is word…after all the betrayal she committed and lines she's crossed to capture Eda for him.
Lilith: But…you, promised me.
Belos: Don't be so naïve, Lilith. This is the Titan's will. He gestures up to a mural of grey witches. All wild witches must be dealt with before the Day of Unity. He bends behind Lililth, scaring her. You understand, don't you?
Lilith: Of course...
Belos: Good. He begins walking away. Oh, one more thing.
Belos stops and snaps his fingers. Owlbert and the bottom half of Eda's staff appear in Lilith's hands.
Belos: Destroy the Owl Lady's staff. She won't be needing it anymore.
Belos leaves the throne room, leaving Lilith staring after him, processing his betrayal and how badly she just let herself be used as the door closes on her.
Secretly perched on a pipe was the black corvid, having witnessed the entire scene of betrayal. It's expression is unreadable, but one can guess it knew Belos was lying to Lilith. And she just realized that the hard way.
Luke and Amity are walking through the streets of Bonesborough in hopes of finding any information as to where Eda is being held. Luke is wearing a navy-blue cloak and Amity is wearing the same cloak she wore in Belos' Castle to blend in with the crowd. Both are hooded and hide their bodies in their cloaks and King is hidden in Luke's hood.
Luke: We need to find out where Eda's going to be held? Someone here's gotta know, maybe a Coven Scout.
Amity: Willow and Gus are in another part of town searching for clues too. They'll let us know the moment they've found something.
Luke: Willow and Gus are helping out?
Amity: Amity smiles. I'm not the only one who's more than willing to help you despite the consequences. I guess hanging out with you and Eda has brought out a rebellious side in us…which is unfortunate most of the time, but it feels pretty nice.
Luke: You'll get used to it. Trust me. Anyway, you know some place where we can find information about Eda, princess.
Amity: The whole town must know that Eda the Owl Lady has been caught. So, maybe we might learn something by watching a crystal ball in the market.
Luke: Let's go look for one then.
King: King points ahead. Uh oh! Scouts dead ahead!
The three of them spot a couple of Coven Scouts. Not wanting to get caught they quickly disappear into an alleyway.
News broadcast on a bunch crystal ball. Reporting in front of Belos' castle is Perry Porter.
Perry: Perry Porter coming to you live from outside the Emperor's Castle. Luke, Amity and King sneak along an arch before walking over to the crowd gathered around the crystal ball. Edalyn Clawthorne, known commonly as "Eda the Owl Lady", has been captured and has been brought before the emperor.
Kikimora is stood on a podium in front of microphones to make an announcement.
Kikimora: For the crime of attacking a coven leader and refusing to join a coven, Edalyn Clawthorne's body shall be petrified in stone!
Edric and Emira watch this from the crystal ball at their home. This news causes them to gasp in shock. They exchange frightened looks.
Kikimora: Today, sundown, at the Conformatorium.
Gus and Willow wearing their casual clothes and hooded cowls hiding their face are in another part of town watching the news. They both gasp in shock.
Gus: Willow! Did you hear that!?
Willow: Yes. We have to do something.
The screen switches back to Perry.
Perry: Today is a grave day for Bonesborough.
The crowd dispersed, murmuring in shock and concern for Eda, leaving the trio of Luke, Amity and King to process what they heard.
Luke: Petrification?
Amity: No…this is horrible…
Luke: Please tell me that's not as bad as it sounds.
King: Petrification is only done to the worst criminals
Amity: And once the spell is complete, it can't be reversed. If we don't do something Eda will be stone forever.
The newscast shows several petrified witches in what looks like a graveyard, screaming out in agony before the screen fading to a picture of Lilith, causing Luke to get furious. He grabs the crystal ball in rage.
Luke: Lilith…that backstabbing hag! She cursed Eda! She cursed and captured her own sister! She ruined Eda's life! When I find her…I'M GOING TO DO THIS TO HER!
In a fit of rage Luke squeezes the crystal ball as he growls and shatters it into pieces much to King and Amity's shock.
King: Whoa…humans have monster strength when they're angry.
Amity: Amity holds Luke's shoulder. Luke, calm down! I know you're angry with Lilith. I'm angry too. But we have to focus on saving Eda.
Luke: Right, right. There's gotta be a way we can get to Conformatorium in time.
The trio spot a coven guard walking by, whistling. Luke grins.
Luke: Bingo.
King: What's bingo?
Amity: Is that another human catchphrase.
Luke: I'll explain later.
The guard had continued his stroll for a few more moments before it came to a halt.
Luke: Hey!
Luke, Amity and King are standing on grass, directly in front of a DO NOT STEP ON GRASS sign. Luke and Amity grin mischievously.
Luke: I know the law says not to step on the grass.
Amity: But is there a law the says anything about burning it.
Luk holds and taps a Fire Glyph with his thumb. He drops it on the grass and sets it on fire much to the guard's horror. Amity slyly casts a fire spell and sends a fireball at the sign, setting it on fire with the grass. The coven guard gasps, seeing the sign burning, the grass burning, and the law violated in such a way.
Minutes later, Luke, Amity and King are sat and relaxed in a paddy wagon, all grinning.
Luke: Yep. The door closes and the wagon heads for the Conformatorium. Perfect plan.
The horned worm pulls the wagon on a road to Conformatorium.
Unbeknownst to Luke and Amity, Qrow was stood on a building having watched them get "apprehended". His hands are in his pockets as he smiles.
Qrow: Looks like the juniors are attempting a break-in. He slightly chuckles. Well, guess I might as well join in on the fun.
He jumps down, disappearing from sight. The black corvid appears once again in his place, secretly following the wagon.
Meanwhile, inside the Conformatorium, Eda is sat in her room, dark, damp and on a flat platform of some kind, her ankles wrapped in chains. Her expression is glum and sullen filled with hurt, heartbreak and betrayal, being separated from Luke, fear of petrification and her sister's betrayal. All this time she wanted nothing more than to find out who cursed her and ruined her life only to find out it was her own sister all along, her own flesh and blood.
Eda looks up when she hears the door open. She frowns upon seeing it was Lilith who closes the door and walks up to cursed sister who narrows her eyes in hatred as Lilith approaches in guilt and remorse.
Eda: Lilith.
Lilith: Edalyn, I…
Eda: What are you doing here!? Did you come to gloat over your victory!? Did you come to mock me!?
Lilith recoils a little from the hostility in her younger sister's voice. Eda was full of scorn and hatred, usually when they speak, she's snarky and playful but today she's downright furious and spiteful and Lilith couldn't blame her after what's happened.
Lilith: Edalyn…this wasn't what I wanted.
Eda: Oh, really? Eda just looks away. I find that hard to believe.
Lilith: Sister, you have to believe me! This was absolutely the last thing I was trying to do to you! I was trying to help you!
Eda: Help me? HELP ME!? YOU DIDN'T HELP ME! YOU JUST KILLED ME!
Lilith is taken aback by Eda's shouting, hoping no one hears as she tries to reason with her sister. She gives her a look of guilt and sorrow as she slowly reaches her.
Lilith: Edalyn, I'm sorry! I didn't know he was going to send you here.
Eda: Yeah, well you knew he'd send me somewhere, Lilith.
Lilith: Yes, but not here in the Conformatorium of all places! You were supposed to be sent to the Healing Chamber! Emperor Belos promised me he'd heal your curse!
Eda: Eda gives a spiteful glare. But, let me guess, he went back on his word, didn't he? Lilith stops, only giving a hurt look. You spent all that time trying to capture in the hopes that our beloved "emperor" would heal me only to find out at the last second, he lied to you. If only someone had warned you not to listen to everything that bonehead tells you. Oh, wait! I DID! Eda's leans closer as she shouts, forcing Lilith to step back in fear. And now I'm gonna get turned to stone! You must be feeling proud of yourself right now!
Lilith: NO! Edalyn, please! This wasn't supposed to happen! Please, believe me! I'd never want this for you! You've done nothing to deserve a Petrification! I mean, that's for maniacs! For monsters! The worst of the worst! For…for…
Eda: For wild witches. Lilith stops talking. For criminals, Lily. I think those are the words you're looking for, right?
Lilith: Well…you have broken a thousand laws, especially refusing to join a coven but…I don't think that can be hardly justified as a reason to…
Eda: But I am a monster right now, aren't I? I'm a monster because of YOU!
Tales of Vesperia – Tragic Decision
This part really stung Lilith who could only look down in shame when she saw tears welling up in Eda's eyes. Lilith could hear her sister's voice breaking as she spoke. Eda looked down in tears.
Eda: Ever since the day I was cursed…I kept asking myself who did this to me? And why? But… despite our differences, I never would've imagined it was you, Lily. Lilith looks away but Eda doesn't let up. How could you do this to me!? Eda gestures her monstrous form. Because of you I'm this…THING! Why did you do it to me Lily!? Eda begins to cry and so does Lilith who clutches her dress, unable to respond. Was it because you thought I was a better witch than you!? Were you that jealous of me!? Did you hate me that much!?
Lilith: No, NO! Sister, I could never hate you!
Eda: Then why did you do THIS to me!? It's because of YOU, I…I…I…ended up scarring our father for LIFE! I lost the love of my LIFE because of my curse! Lilith looks down again in shame and guilt. I had to go on the run because of it and I couldn't get help from anyone! And it's all YOUR FAULT!
Lilith: Lilith feels tears beginning to well up. I know…
Eda: As if betraying Sparda wasn't bad enough.
Lilith feels her blood run cold upon hearing that. She looks up, trying to hide her disbelief but Eda wasn't fooled.
Lilith: What?
Eda: What? You don't think I know that you betrayed Sparda to the emperor?
Lilith: Edalyn, I-I don't know what you're talking about! I would never betray Sparda!
Eda: I'm not an idiot Lilith! If there's anything you're bad at Lilith, it's lying! I've been sneaking around long enough to end up overhearing Coven Scouts talking about how you ratted out Sparda and told that tyrant about his plan to take him out!
Lilith is horrified by this revelation. Her sister already knows she actually betrayed Sparda to the emperor. She didn't know what to say. Eda wasn't about to let her off that easily, her eyes welling up with more tears as her voice breaks again.
Eda: I want to know the truth, Lily! I want you to look me and the eye! Is it true? Did you really betray Sparda to Belos!? Lilith remained ashamed and silent, looking away. TELL MEEEEE!
Lilith: Unable to lie anymore, Lilith breaks. Yes…it's true. I was ordered to keep an eye on Sparda. And…I reported his plan to Emperor Belos.
This admittance struck Eda hard, her already broken heart shattering as fresh tears leak out of her eyes.
Eda: How could you…? Sparda trusted you…and you got him killed. He was our friend…and you betrayed him. HE WAS OUR BROTHER!
Lilith: Lilith feels tears welling up again, her voice breaking too. Edalyn, please understand! I didn't want to do it! I never meant to betray Sparda! I loved the both of you!
Eda: THEN WHY DID YOU RAT HIM OUT!? Did becoming Head of the Emperor's Coven mean so much to you that you'd betray your friends and family just to HAVE IT!
Lilith: Lilith reaches out again, her tears threatening to leak. Sister, please, hear me out! I had no choice! Everything I did was-
Eda twists her head with a furious look, forcing Lilith to step back.
Eda: Don't…call me sister again! We're not family anymore! Lilith felt a dagger plunge her heart. More tears leak out of Eda's eyes. I thought we were, despite our differences. I thought we could still be sisters. But I guess I was wrong. Even after I found out what you did to Sparda, I gave you the benefit of the doubt. A part of me wanted to believe it was all a lie or hoped that you had a good reason for it.
Lilith: But, Edalyn, there was a good reason for it. We ARE still sisters.
Eda: No, we're not. Not anymore. Lilith becomes even more hurt witch each word Eda spoke that made her feel worse. I could live with things if it were just, you betraying Sparda. But then you tried to kill Luke just to get to me, you forced me to become this because you were too weak and worst of all…I find out it was YOU who cursed me in the first place. I used to be happy for you becoming a coven head, Lilith. I gave you so many chances because you were my sister. But because of you…I lost everything, my parents, my love-life, Sparda, my dreams, Luke, King…EVERYTHING! Tears pour down Eda's face like a waterfall. So today…I…we're done…for good!
That was it for Lilith. She could only be mortified in silence as she feels her heart shatter into pieces, tears pouring down from her face, hurt by Eda's rejection and the fact that she deserves it. Lilith's voice breaks more as she tries to approach her sister.
Lilith: Edalyn, please, you don't mean that.
Eda: Eda lays down, looking away. Yes, I do. Now get out of here, before I lose what little reason I have left.
Lilith: Sister, please, let me explain.
Eda: Lilith, just go.
Lilith: But EDA!
Eda: I SAID GO!
Her rage reaching boiling point, Eda's voice becomes distorted, and her eyes become black as she lunges forward to take a swipe at Lilith who fell back with a yelp. She could only watch as her younger sister tries to escape her restraints, violently attempting to rip her apart, the beast having taken over, a beast she had unleashed within her. Lilith stood up, stepping back and she stared at her violent sister in sorrow and remorse. Seeing there was no reasoning with Eda in this state, Lilith takes her leave.
She closes the door behind her, leaning against it with tears welling up in her eyes. She could only look down in heartbreak over her sister's hurtful words and rejection. But she knows she deserved it all after everything she had done to Eda. Lilith summons and stares at Owlbert, her sisters palismen. The tears pour down her face and drip onto the immobile owl palismen.
Lilith: What have I done…? Edalyn…
It all sinks in for Lilith and she drops down, hugging her knees and burying her face, sobbing profusely over the realization of what she's done. Everything she did…it was all because she wanted to help her sister. She worked tirelessly to become head of the Emperor's Coven and please Belos so he'd uphold his promise to heal Eda only to find out too late it was all a lie. Everything she's done has been for nothing. She betrayed those who were closest to her, including Sparda and Eda to please a lying emperor who just wanted to use her against her own sister and close friend. In the end all her efforts have done is sentenced her own sister to a fate worse than death…just as she did to Sparda a long time ago.

Tales of Arise – A Peaceful Moment
Meanwhile, Luke, Amity and King are still being wheeled away to the Conformatorium. They continue sitting back and relaxing in their mobile cell. Luke looks to King.
Luke: Hey, King. Could you go by the window and let us know when we arrive at the Conformatorium.
King: Sure thing.
King runs to the window and jumps, looking through the bars to stay on look out. Luke and Amity were alone to speak together.
Amity: It won't be long now before we arrive at Conformatorium Luke.
Luke: Right. We're going to save Eda. And Amity…before we get to the Conformatorium I just wanna say…thanks.
Amity: Amity is surprised. Huh? For what, Luke?
Luke: For what you said to me back in the Owl House. I really needed to hear that. Usually, I'm the one who's having to cheer you up, but it looks like the roles were reversed today.
Amity: Amity smiles sweetly. Don't mention it, Luke. After everything you've done for me ever since we met, making you smile again was the least I can do.
Luke: I wouldn't say I've done THAT much for you.
Amity: Luke, don't be so modest. You've only been in this world for a month and in that time… you've changed my life for the better. Until I met you, I was just a miserable bully who picked on you and Willow. I shut myself from others and all I cared about was being the best. Now look at me. I'm…happy. Willow and I are talking again. And I have friends. Real friends who accept me for who I am. For the first time in my life, I have a place somewhere.
Luke: Luke smiles back. Yeah…I know how you feel there, Ams. Before I came to this world, I was pretty much nobody. Some kids didn't take me seriously because of my love for fantasy and some feared me because of my violent tendencies to pick fights with jerks. I couldn't make any friends at all. And now…
Amity: Now you have us. Luke and Amity gaze into each other's eyes. And I have you guys. Me, Willow and Gus…we're your friends. And we've got your back.
Luke: Man, you've really changed, Blight. It's hard to believe not that long ago we were hating each other with you almost getting me dissected by Principal Bump and you mocking about humans not being able to do magic.
Amity: Amity blushes a little from that. I guess people change. And you have a way of sneaking into people's hearts, human. And somehow…that's changed me. I just want to thank you for that. Amity takes hold of Luke's hand without knowing. I also want you know no matter what, we're with you…and I'll be by your side when you need me.
Luke: Thanks Amity.
The two of them gaze into each other's eyes smiling. When they look down, they widen their eyes in shock to find they're holding hands. They blush wildly but they don't let go. They continue gazing, red and nervous as they begin to feel certain feelings towards each other. Feelings that were slowly pulling them towards each other.
Amity has been aware of her feelings for Luke but never knew how to act on them. Luke knows he feels a special connection with Amity, but he can never quite figure out what it is.
Luke and Amity were this close to making lip contact until they were called.
…
King: Um…guys. The two turns to King. We're here.
Luke and Amity look to each other and turn away blushing, with Amity brushing the side of her hair over what almost happened. They walk over to the window and see they've arrived at the Conformatorium as the police wagon passed through the garden of petrified witches, the skies grimly dark. It made King gasp and Luke and Amity sick to their stomach.
Luke: All those statues…they're…?
Amity: Yeah…petrified prisoners. They're put in front of the Conformatorium to set an example. I never used to care about it but up close…it's horrible.
Luke: Man…this is messed up. No one deserves this.
That becomes shock when two guards were set down a podium with Eda's name on a bronze plaque.
EDALYN
CLAWTHRONE
King: There's not gonna be a new statue going up today. Right, Luke? Luke?
Luke was glaring at a poster of Lilith, Eda's captor. He gives off a hateful growl while Amity stares at poster of her former mentor in sadness. Even after everything she's done Amity still holds her respect for Lilith and wants to know why she's doing this.
The paddy wagon continues on, entering the Conformatorium proper. A gate closes behind it and a banner read: "PETRIFICATION TODAY AT SUNDOWN".
The paddy wagon backs into a docking station where Warden Wrath and a group of scouts are stood waiting.
Guard: Sir, the Owl Lady's human student has been apprehended.
Warden Wrath: Very good. Ah, Luke the Human. How I've waited to see you again. Now I'll have my revenge and you'll have front row seats to Eda's demise.
The moment Wrath opens the wagon's door he is bombarded by a mixture of huge tree roots, branches and Abomination goo. He screams, getting blasted and pinned down.
Tales of Arise – Flame of Hope 1
Luke gives a battle cry as he leapt out of the wagon to knock out a scout with a kick to the face. The other scouts brought out spears, swords and nets. One of them tosses a net at Luke but Amity jumped down next to him to send a fireball that burns through the net and slams into a scout, sending him flying. The guards attack the trio.
One of them swings his spear at Luke. He ducks and jumps before sending the scout flying with an uppercut. Another scout launches a blue fire beam at Luke, but he leapt above, slamming the ground with an ice glyph. A spear of ice pins the Emperor's Guard to the ceiling. Another scout was about to attack Luke from behind, but King leapt at him and shoved the scout's face into his hood, smacking him around while squealing.
Some scouts attack Amity, sending energy blasts at her but she casts spell circles, summoning Abomination goo to deflect the blasts and smash the scouts, engulfing and pinning them to the wall in goo. She brings out Abomination goo from a potion vile to form her chakrams and when two scouts attack her with swords, she deflects their swings, acrobatically flips back and threw her chakrams. They smash into the scouts and send them flying. The guard driving the paddy wagon proceeds to join but Amity jumps in front of him, forming her spiked glove to deliver a strong punch that knocks him out.
Luke deals with more scouts on his end. He sends another flying with an uppercut and when a second scout charges him with a sword swing, the human jumps and knocks him out with a kick. Another scout tries to impale Luke with his spear but the young boy duck and slams an Electric Glyph in his stomach shocking the scout, allowing Luke to send him flying with a kick while taking his spear. He attaches a Water Glyph to the blade and streams of water that knocks out a couple of scouts. Luke parries a couple of swings from two scouts wielding swords and spears. He sticks his to the ground and spun around it, kicking them and other incoming scouts in the face.
When he gets on his feet again two scouts come from behind but King tackles one of them to the ground and an Abomination fist erupts from beneath the other one, sending him flying and screaming. Luke turns to see the caster was Amity and King is stood on the other one who's knocked. The trio share a smile before looking to Wrath who's trying to escape from his plant restraint.
Amity runs next to Luke, and they exchange smiles as the human boy brought up an Ice Glyph. Wrath shoves away the branches with his tentacle arms but is suddenly engulfed by a combination of ice and abomination goo, restraining most of his body more than the branch.

Luke walks up to him with King on his shoulder, giving a glare of rage. Amity forms an abomination spike. Luke and Amity place the tip of their weapons against Wrath's throat, and he yelps in fear.
Luke: You have 10 seconds before we slit your throat! TALK! Where is Edalyn Clawthorne!?
Scared for his life at the sight of Luke in boiling rage, Wrath breaks down and confesses.
Warden Wrath: She's in the holding cell in the dungeon.
Luke: Luke brings out a map and notepad. Draw me a map!
A crowd is gathered outside in front of a huge stage where Eda will be petrified. They continue murmuring amongst themselves in concern.
Member 1: Do you really think Eda deserves a petrification?
Member 2: I don't know. This is all happening so fast.
Willow and Gus have arrived, hooded up in their cowls.
Willow: Willow removes her hood. If we know anything about Luke, he and Amity are going to be here trying to save Eda.
Gus: Gus removes his. And we'll be here to save them when they need us!
Willow: Let's split up and find them!
Willow and Gus split up to search for Luke and Amity.
They're spotted by Lilith watching from a window after her emotional meltdown, but she remains silent. She turns to see Kikimora yelling at Wrath who told her about his encounter with Luke and Amity.
Kikimora: Fools! You let the human escape! And you drew him a map?
Lilith: Worry not, Kikimora. I shall capture the human.
Devil May Cry 4 – Blackened Angel
Meanwhile, Luke, Amity and (to some extent) King were rampaging throughout the hallways of the Conformatorium, mercilessly beating down every scout or guard that gets in their way as well as glyphing them into next week.
Flashes occur from one corner and magic spills. Luke and Amity exit a doorway and make a left.
Luke: This way!
In the hallway they just left two guards are hanging in vines from the ceiling, another can only be seen by his legs, a fourth is holding his hands in front of a fire, a fifth is encased in ice and two more were stuck to the wall by Abomination goo.
Luke and Amity run along the hallway, determined to find Eda. When they get through another doorway, they find a bunch of scouts charging towards them with weapons while screaming a battle cry. The kids share a grin.
Amity: Shall we?
Luke: Ladies first. King you may wanna hide.
King: Weh!
King hides in Luke's coat as the duo of Luke and Amity threw off their cloaks and they land together, now showing off their full battle outfits. The pair run into battle. Amity forms a spiked glove and throws a punch sending a scout flying into two others.
Luke knocks out a scout with an uppercut. Another one attempts to restrain Luke with his spear by the neck. Others proceeds to join but Luke presses his legs against the wall and uses a Fire Glyph to blast of like a jet, smashing the scouts against the wall.
Amity leapt down with show to cast a large spell circle on the floor, forming a groaning Abomination tidal wave the scouts try to run from but end up getting engulfed in anyway.
Luke is surrounded by 6 scouts prompting him to fan out 6 glyphs, one of each element. He flings them at one scout each, shocking them with electricity, encasing them in ice, blasting them with fire, water and ice and pinning them down with plants.
Luke and Amity now stood back-to-back, finding themselves surrounded by more Coven Scouts, prompting Luke to clutch Amity's hand, causing her to blush while he grins.
Luke: May I have this dance my Queen?
Amity: Amity smiles back. It would be my pleasure, my King.
The scouts attack, one of them taking a swing at Luke with his sword only for the human boy to dodge and pull Amity in to deliver a kick that sends him flying. She ducks a scout swinging a sword and sweeps him off his legs as Luke jumps to dodge a scout thrusting his spear before delivering an uppercut to him. Amity then swung Luke around to knock out more scouts on her side and Luke then swung Amity up to dodge an incoming scout on her side which he knocks out with a kick to the stomach and sends him crashing into the others scouts and Amity lands behind Luke on one of his scouts, pinning him down, delivering a kick to the another and sending out fireballs to blow away more of them. Luke pulls Amity in, and she twirls towards until they're wrapping an arm around each other like they're about to dance, sharing flirtatious looks.
More scouts with weapons attack the duo. Luke quickly holds Amity and threw her high up. He punches a scout in the face, grabs the spear of one trying to thrust him and tosses him over his shoulder and then sweeps one off his knee before executing a kick to the stomach, sending him crashing into a cell. As more scouts charge him on all sides Luke catches Amity and spun her around, helping her kick a bunch of scouts away and soon she's pulled out for them to hold hands and share smiles as he spun her around and she knocks more scouts out with her legs. And soon Luke pulls Amity in, holding her bridal style as she kicks the last scout, knocking him out.
The pair share a look and blush, Amity becoming a little sheepish.
Luke: Just like Grom, huh, Princess!?
Amity: Amity chuckles. Yeah.
More scouts charge them on both sides as Luke and Amity stood back-to-back again, sharing a grin as they hook an arm together. When the scouts get close enough the duo swung around each other and knock them all out with one strong kick, sending them flying.
Luke: Nice form, Blight!
Amity: Thanks. I learned from watching you.
The two continue to run along the hallway with Luke holding a Scout's stolen sword. A coven guard proceeds to slice Luke with his sword, but he blocks with his and Amity sends the guard flying with a fireball.

Luke and Amity eventually arrive in front of a padlocked set of double doors. Luke looks at the map drawn by Warden Wrath.
Luke: This is it. This is the room Eda's being held. You two watch the door. I'll bust Eda out and we can ditch this hellhole. Kill anyone who tries to get in.
King: Weh.
Amity: Got it.
Luke: Or if you feel like it.
Luke steps forward and places an ice glyph on the lock, freezing and breaking it.
He enters the room and pulls out a Light glyph, activating it and using a light orb as a torch. Eda can be heard growling.
Luke: Eda?
Luke spots Eda with her back turned, shackled and chained by the neck.
Luke: Eda!
Luke runs to his transformed teacher but bounces off when her wing twitches and smacks him. Eda turns to reveal she's lost her senses again, her eyes black. She growls and goes in for the attack, proceeding to tear Luke apart, prompting him to hold out his light orb in her face.
Luke: Eda, wait! Stop! Calm down! It's me! It's me.
The light orb causes Eda to regain her senses. Her eyes become gold again and she's horrified to see her student here.
Eda: Luke? Oh no! Oh no, no, no, no, no, wh-what are you doing here?
Luke: It's gonna be okay, Eda! I'm here to bust you out!
He activates a Fire Glyph on the chain keeping Eda in place, but the flames do nothing. The chains easily cancel them out.
Eda: Your magic isn't strong enough for this. You need to leave! Now!
Luke keeps using fire and electric glyphs in hopes of breaking the chains, but nothing is working.
Luke: No! I'm not leaving you here Eda! It's my fault you got captured! It was my stupid stunt to steal the healing hat that led to all this! Belos was able to do this because of me! It's my fault you're about to get petrified! I'm not letting you suffer two fates worse than death because of me!
Eda just grabs Luke's shoulders and calmly but firmly looks at him in the eye as she helps him stand.
Eda: No! Listen to me. I'm here because of my own actions. I went against Belos's law, and for a while I was able to get away with it. But…well, without magic, I can't do much. Eda smiles despite her predicament. I don't regret anything. I lived freely and…I got to meet you.
Luke: Luke is touched and saddened. Eda...
Eda: Eda softly touches his face. But if you stay here, I won't be able to protect you. You need to leave. Now!
Luke: No! He grabs one of Eda's front leg, tears welling up. I'm not leaving you! We're a family! You've been like a second mom to me! Don't you remember what you taught me? Us weirdos have to stick together, remember?
Eda pulls the portal key from her hair. She activates it, making the door rise from the floor. It opens as she speaks, revealing the same path that Luke chased Owlbert down at the beginning of the summer, where his whole adventure began.
Eda: You have a family already. Go back to them. Luke stares at the door, the path leading to home. And when you're home, use your fire magic to destroy the portal door. She places the key around Luke's neck. I don't know why Belos wants it, but we can't take any chances.
Luke looks at Eda, near tears before tucking the key under his cloak and hugging his teacher one last time much to Eda's surprise.
Luke: I love you, Eda.
Touched by this display of emotion, for the first time Eda returns her student's hug.
Eda: I love you too, kiddo. You were the son I never got to have.
Devil May Cry 4 – Just out of Reach
A siren blares as a door in the ceiling opens. It's time for Eda's petrification.
Eda: Luke, get away!
Eda pushes Luke away as the chain around her neck glows blue and transforms into a cage. The ground beneath Eda begins to rise much to Luke's horror as he ran.
Luke: No! NOT YET! I'M NOT LETTING YOU GO!
(Slow-motion) Luke leapt up, reaching for Eda.
Luke: EDDAAAAAAA!
Eda could only look down in heartbreak as Luke gets closer to her. She closes her eyes in heartbreak over what she must do next to protect her surrogate son.
Eda: I'm sorry.
(Slow-motion) Luke reaches Eda and grabs her gem, but the moment he did the Owl Lady shoves Luke off and he fell along with Eda's gem until he landed on his back. He lifts himself up, looking up as the platform rises with his saddened teacher. Luke could only reach out in trauma and heartbreak as his teacher slowly disappears from view.
Eda: Goodbye, Luke.
The platform completely rises into the ceiling with an air of finality. Eda has disappeared from view.
Luke got up and limps between the door to the human realm and where Eda had been just moments before, tears welling up in his eyes. He looks at Eda's gem, the only thing he has left of his surrogate mother. Soon, everything comes crashing down on him, his defeat at the hands of the Golden Guard, his failed attempt to get a cure, Eda losing her powers, her permanent transformation into the Owl Beast, the guilt he feels from it and now this. Luke could only drop down, clenching his fists as tears drip down, streaming down his face. For the first time since we've known him, Luke Noceda cries.
Crushed from losing his surrogate mother possibly for good, Luke screams and cries, punching the ground with his fist so hard, cracks form and get bigger and bigger. The young witch-warrior could only keep crying and screaming hysterically in anguish and agony, letting out the emotions of rage and misery he has been trying to bottle in his whole life.
And unbeknownst to him, the mystery crow watches from a corner in the room. It watches Luke let his emotions explode with silent pity.
