So... Remember when I said that I wouldn't make you folks wait as long for the next chapter... Welp, shit happens. But hey, better late than never right? Anyways, we're finally back! But there's some things that I wanna discuss before we get back into it: For those of you who have played it, I'm sure that most of you will agree with me when I say that the campaign for Modern Warfare III 2023 was HORRIBLE. The amount of injustice that took place in what is in my opinion both the laziest and shortest Call Of Duty campaign of all time is fucking staggering. So because of that, I've decided that not only will I continue to update this story in order to complete it, but I will also be writing another story that follows up right after this one to replace the shitty campaign that we got. To clarify, this story takes place in between the events of MWII 2022, and MWIII 2023. So once I finish up this story, I'll be moving onto that one, where I will pretty much be COMPLETELY rewriting the MWIII 2023 campaign so that it doesn't suck total cock and pussy. I will also be changing up some key events that take place in the MWII 2022 campaign as well in order to improve upon some parts of the writing that I felt were rather lackluster. Those changes that are specific to MWII 2022 will be mentioned in this story most likely via flashbacks. But I'm not entirely sure yet. But trust me, it will be better than what we originally got. Or at least I hope it will. And as to whether or not Sabre and Mara will be in the next story? Well, I guess you'll have to wait and see how the rest of their tale here plays out... Oh, and one more thing: I've gone back and updated the previous chapters to improve them a bit. I didn't make any major changes, but I'd appreciate it if you'd all go back and read them again. Anyway, enough rambling. Let's get back into it.
Introducing Yourselves
February 1st, 2023 - 10:07:24
Sgt. Carter "Sabre" Diaz
Task Force 141
Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
The area that Miguel had brought Mara and Sabre to was HEAVILY infested with militia gunmen. Well, more so than the rest of the favela at least. Their presence was definitely known on the outer regions for sure. But in this area, it was just ridiculous. And they were doing a lot more here than just standing around looking tough and waiting for something to happen.
The part of the favela that they were currently at seemed to act as the central hub for the militias operations. While Mara and Sabre didn't know what their operations consisted of to the fullest extent, they knew that involvement in arms smuggling was most definitely on the list. Otherwise they wouldn't be here right now.
Mara and Sabre had been following Miguel through the area. He had been leading them through to meet up with his 'boss'. The militia gunmen that happened to see them did not let their presence go unnoticed. While they paid no mind to Miguel as he was well known there for obvious reasons, Mara and Sabre were getting eyed down hard. However, Mara was getting eyed down for VERY different reasons compared to Sabre.
When looking at him, they looked like they wanted to kill him.
When looking at her, they looked like they wanted to fuck her.
This was to be expected of course. At least to Sabre, as the outfit that Mara was wearing today was not at all very different to the one that she wore when they first arrived in Rio. Which of course frustrated him.
The glaring eyes from the militia gunmen did little to nothing to intimidate Sabre however. He had stared down death more than enough times in life. And during his time in service, he had men give him similar looks. Only for them to meet their end by his hand. At least when the situation called for it.
Sabre had good self restraint. He didn't allow emotion to cloud his judgement, especially anger. But despite that, if he got an opportunity to end a few of these assholes without jeopardizing the mission at hand, he wouldn't hesitate to do so.
He was also prepared to kill anyone who threatened Mara's safety. While he was sure that she could take care of herself, Sabre was not one to leave the safety of a fellow soldier to chance.
He could only hope that things went along smoothly once they met with this so called 'leader'.
After what felt like an eternity, the three arrived outside of a large compound of some sort before being stopped by Miguel.
"Alright, this is the place. The boss man is just inside. Don't worry about saying anything. I'll do all the talking. But if this motherfucker tries asking you any questions or something, just bullshit your way out of it." Said Miguel.
"You think he's gonna be suspicious of us?" Asked Mara.
"He's suspicious of ALL smugglers. Rojas was just the only one that gained his friendship." Replied Miguel.
"Should we be worried?" Asked Sabre.
"Nah, his suspicions won't go too far. Once he can conclude that you two won't cause any problems, he'll fall back. He ain't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Just let me do all the talking, and we'll be good. Alright?"
Both Mara and Sabre give Miguel a nod in response. Miguel then motions for the two of them to follow him inside the compound.
Once inside, they are greeted by the sight of even more militia. All of which are enjoying much more leisure activities. A group of them were spotted playing poker, while another group was spotted taking shots at a bar counter. Plenty of others there could be seen partaking in other various activities of similar nature.
Sabre assumed that these particular members were a bit higher up in the ranks. Otherwise they probably wouldn't be caught dead doing something other than working.
As the three were traveling deeper into the compound, a number of callouts and whistles were thrown in Mara's direction. These militia members in particular seemed to be a bit more unhinged compared to the ones that infested the outer favela. Mara wasn't at all fazed by any of it though. In fact, she very much expected it. This wouldn't be the first time in her career that her looks attracted a large group of men.
Once they got past the crowd of horny gunmen, they made their way to the back of the compound. In one of the corners of the compound were a pair of men who seemed to be having a minor dispute about something. One of them being a somewhat short, chubby and hairy brown man with a bald head and a goatee. He was wearing a dress shirt with a plate carrier vest over it. The other one was a much taller and slender brown man. He had a clean shaven face with long curly hair, and was wearing a tank top. He also had a few noticeable tattoos on his body. The trio were only able to make out small parts of their conversation once they got within earshot.
"But his enforcer is here boss!" Said the tall slender one.
"Okay? And what the fuck of it?" Replied the chubby bald one.
"If the buyer went out of his way to send his right hand man to oversee the shipment, don't you think that means he questions our ability to keep that shit secure?"
"It's a BIG fucking shipment Pedro. I can understand why he wants one of his own keeping an eye on that shit. It's fine."
"And what if it isn't fucking fine?!"
"Jesus Christ Pedro RELAX! There isn't a problem with anything. Rojas is gonna ma-"
Before the chubby bald man can continue, he is interrupted when his attention is drawn to the trio approaching the two of them.
He lowers his voice just for a moment before the trio reach them. "We'll talk about this shit later." He then turns to the direction of the trio being lead by Miguel to greet them.
"Miguel! What the fuck is up my guy?" Greets the chubby bald man, holding his arms out.
"Boss, I'm here with the new contacts that I told you about. You said that you were down to meet them." Replied Miguel.
"Was that today? Ah shit, must've forgot about that. I really gotta stop smoking my own product, haha!"
"Right, right. Anyway, these are the contacts here."
Miguel then extends his arm to Mara and Sabres direction.
"This is Lucia, and Jason. They're my personal favorite smuggling duo. So I figured I'd recommend them to you."
"Really? Well let's have a look here."
The chubby bald man then walks past Miguel and over to Mara and Sabre. The two are standing beside one another. Mara with her hands on her hips, and Sabre with his arms crossed.
He started with Sabre, shooting daggers in his direction. He eyed Sabre up and down, practically judging him just by looking at him as if he were a disappointed father scolding his own son. Sabre maintained eye contact with him the whole time, not showing any sign of intimidation.
Once the chubby baldy was done eyeing Sabre, he then shifted his attention over to Mara. Upon first setting his eyes on her, he stopped himself for a moment to look at her in awe. He looked at her with lust, almost immediately setting his eyes on her breasts. Then he used his eyes to trace the curves of her body. He began walking around her, continuing to carry his gaze downward to take a look at her rear end. It was safe to say he liked what he saw.
Mara obviously noticed all of this, watching the sack of shit in front of her practically drool over her. Men like him were always so easily distracted. This was something that she would note to herself in case she ever had to manipulate the motherfucker. Although she would prefer to just kill him.
Sabre meanwhile had also noticed how he looked at Mara, as the asshole made no attempt to be subtle about it. He even caught him licking his lips while he was gawking at her. Men like him pissed Sabre off to the max. The fat fuck would have it coming if he gave him a good enough reason to drain the life from his eyes. He was lucky Sabre had good self restraint.
Once chubby was satisfied, he stepped away from the two and starts speaking again.
"Alright, so what brings you two here to my humble place of work?"
Mara decided to start with the bullshitting segment, hoping that chubby would move on soon.
"Miguel and I are old friends. Me and Jason here have been running precious cargo transport jobs for a while now. Miguel hit us up about a potential partnership with you all, so we figured, why not?"
The chubby baldly looked a bit skeptical, but seemed to be buying it. It helped that Miguel had spoken with Mara prior to discuss the cover story.
"Mmm, alright cool, cool. So uh, you and uh, Jason over here... You guys fucking or what?"
This brash question got a few laughs from some nearby gunmen that could hear bits of the conversation.
Sabre had a noticeable look of annoyance on his face when he heard the chubby man's question.
I swear to fucking God...
Mara meanwhile was not fazed by the question. In fact, a smirk grew on her face when an idea came to mind for her answer.
"Nah, he's pretty selfish when it comes to his cock."
The chubby man along with the other gunmen burst out into laughter when they heard this. Even Miguel could be seen trying to suppress chuckle.
Sabre on the other hand, was not at all amused. He shot daggers at Mara, to which she responded by giving him a wink. Sabre could only roll his eyes in response to her.
"Haha! Oh that's fucking good. I like you lady." Responded the chubby baldy. He then looked over to Sabre.
"Boy I'll tell you what, you better work something out with her soon. It'd be a shame to let that much woman slip through your fingertips. Haha!"
Just fucking kill me already...
Sabre chose not to respond. He would rather roll with the punches instead of saying something stupid that could potentially fuck the whole operation.
"Anyways, enough of me fucking around. I'm Roberto. And this is my operation. We used to fight strictly for the people back when we were being oppressed by the military. But since we were able to rid them from our homeland, we decided to shift our motivations. And as a result, money and power have blessed us ever since! Haha! Now normally I'm rather skeptical of those who wanna get involved with my militia. But since Miguel here vouches for you, I'm willing to fallback. But be warned: Should I have reason to believe that the two of you are jeopardizing my operation in any way at all whatsoever, I'll feed you to my dogs. So as long as you don't do that, feel free to do whatever the fuck you wanna do! Haha! Now, I think that covers just about everything. So I'm gonna have to kindly ask that you two fuck off while I attend to some business. Miguel?"
Miguel then motions for Mara and Sabre to follow him out. They then proceed to follow him, but not before Roberto pulls Sabre to the side.
"Hey buddy, a word of advice: Do everything in your power to fuck the shit outta your lady friend. Cause if you don't make a move on that sweet piece of ass, I most definitely will."
...
Carter didn't say anything right away. He simply looked Roberto up and down, already knowing that no such scenario existed where this ugly motherfucker would ever have a chance with Mara.
"I'll keep that in mind." Replied Carter nonchalantly.
Roberto gave him a smirk in and patted Sabres shoulder in response before letting him rejoin Miguel and Mara.
I REALLY wanna kill this fuck...
The three made it back outside the compound, away from prying eyes. There they would then begin to discuss their next move.
"Well, that was pleasant." Began Mara sarcastically.
"Yeah, your boss is a real fucking charmer. Thanks for doing all of the talking by the way." Added Sabre.
"Hey, that was my plan going into this. But once Roberto started asking questions, there wasn't too much I could say or do. I'm just glad that you two didn't say anything stupid." Replied Miguel.
"It seemed like Roberto there had that all covered." Said Sabre.
"As much as I would love to continue talking shit about that asshole, we've got a job to do." Said Mara.
"Agreed. Right now I don't have a lot of intel to offer you two. But I did get word of a meeting going down with members of the militia and some of the city police department over in town. Obviously nothing is guaranteed to come out of this, but it's something at least." Replied Miguel.
"Why are the militia meeting up with the cops?" Asked Carter.
"They're probably bribing them to keep them in line. Or blackmailing them. Or threatening their families. Those are my guesses anyway." Answered Miguel.
"Well it's better than nothing. We just gotta hope that it gives us a lead on Rojas. Sabre and I will head back to the shack and grab some gear before we head over there." Said Mara.
"I wish we had just brought our shit before we left." Commented Sabre.
"I didn't wanna risk the chances of these assholes searching you two and finding pistols and radios on you. We had to play it safe. Once you two are geared up, give me a call, and I'll give you both the location of the meet. I'll also give you access to my secure radio channels. It should give the three of us a much easier time keeping tabs on one another." Replied Miguel.
"Sounds good, we'll hit you up as soon as we're geared up." Replied Mara.
Her and Sabre then left Miguel to head out and make their way back to the shack.
"So what should we be expecting from this?" Asked Sabre.
"Well, best case scenario, we get SOMETHING to work with. Worse case scenario, we get fuck all. And an even WORSE case scenario, we get into a shootout with both the local PD AND members of the militia." Answered Mara.
"Sounds about right."
In the interest of time...
Mara and Sabre had made it to the location of the meet that was provided by Miguel. The location provided led them to the city dockyard, where both parties consisting of militia and city law enforcement were present. Mara and Sabre had taken cover behind some large wooden crates to get a view of the ongoing meeting without being spotted. The two were equipped with their radios, combat knives, and suppressed pistols. Miguel had provided them with the frequency to his secure radio channel before they had arrived. The three were communicating through comms discussing the matter at hand.
"What do ya got you two?" Asked Miguel through comms.
"Just two groups of armed personnel having a friendly chat." Answered Mara sarcastically.
"How many guys you seein' there?"
"About a grand total of thirty. Fifteen militia gunmen, fifteen law enforcement officers. This is of course assuming none of them stepped out to take a piss or something." Answered Sabre.
"Have you spotted anything of value there?"
"Nothing yet, we're waiting to see if anything comes up." Answered Mara.
"Alright well, you two are professionals, so I'll leave you to it. I've gotta get back to Roberto and keep him busy with some bullshit to keep his eyes away from the two of you."
"Yeah make sure he keeps his eyes off of Mara especially. The fat fuck might end up cutting off the blood circulation to his brain if he ever stares at her the way he did." Commented Sabre.
"Do I detect jealousy Sabre?" Joked Mara.
"Please, that sack of shit would have a better chance at climbing Mount Everest with a ladder than he would getting with you." Replied Sabre.
"Oh? And how good do you think YOUR chances are?" Questioned Mara with seduction.
"I'll just leave you two alone with your sexual tension. Call me if you need me." Said Miguel awkwardly before leaving the comms channel.
Mara and Sabre were then left to continue their plan on their own.
"Well, guess we wait for something of interest to pop its head up." Said Mara.
"Hopefully that doesn't take all damn day. Time is of the essence here." Replied Sabre.
"So if any of these assholes happen to spot us, what exactly is the plan for dealing with them?" Asked Mara.
"I'm not sure. I would prefer not to engage if we don't have to. Especially with the cops being here. I don't need their blood on my hands. Hopefully they leave soon."
"You say that like you haven't already gotten your hands dirty."
"Only when I've had to. I don't enjoy killing Mara."
"And yet you seem to be pretty good at it."
"Yeah well, I gue- Wait!" Sabre stopped himself from continuing once he caught something of interest in his sights.
"What is it?" Asked Mara.
"One of those militia assholes has a shipping manifest. If Rojas is involved with the militias cargo, then I'm willing to bet that it has some intel that could lead to him."
"Good eye, what's the play then?"
"I say we wait things out just a little longer. Hopefully the cops leave soon enough for us to-"
As if on queue, Sabre stops when he notices the group of police officers start to leave the docks.
"Well shit, good timing. Guess the meetings' over." Said Sabre.
"And no cops means no need to hold back." Added Mara. "So, what's the play?"
"Divide and conquer. We'll split up and take them out one by one. Once we clear the yard, we grab the manifest and bug out."
"Ready when you are."
Sabre then pulled out his suppressed pistol, Mara did the same.
"Still on comms?" Asked Sabre.
"Yup, let's do this handsome."
Sabre and Mara then proceeded with their plan and began to move. Sabre would take one side of the dockyard, while Mara would take the other.
As Sabre moved up, he laid his eyes on his first target. A lone gunman all alone in a corner having a smoke. Sabre wouldn't need the pistol for this one. Instead he would draw his karambit knife. It was his blade of choice that he had taken on several operations. It also had a decent body count as well.
Sabre closed the gap between him and the lone gunman and quickly covered his mouth with his hand before bringing the blade to his throat. Sabre gave him no time to struggle. One slice, and it was over. The gunman could be heard gargling blood before he went limp. Sabre slowly let his body down in an attempt to make as little noise as possible and then placed it behind cover to keep it out of sight. He then moved up to get eyes on his next target.
While moving up, he saw two gunmen alone having a conversation. They were far enough away from the others, so their deaths would go unnoticed for the time being. But Sabre would have to be quick and catch them off guard.
He moved in on the duo drawing his pistol. Once he had a clear shot, he opened fire on the two. He put two rounds into the first gunman, dropping him instantly. The second gunman only had about a second to react before Sabre quickly did the same to him. They were both dead before they hit the ground.
Sabre moved in closer to confirm his kills. But as he was approaching the bodies, a gunman came out of a nearby shipping crate, catching Sabre off guard.
"Hey!" Yelled the gunman before drawing his rifle, preparing to aim it at Sabre.
*Clink*
Before Sabre could get his gun on his target, the gunman went limp and hit the floor as a bullet went straight through the side of his head.
"Got your back baby boy." Said Mara through comms. Sabre looked over to where the bullet came from. He could see Mara from across the yard blowing smoke off of her pistols suppressor, giving him a wink while she did so. He could also see a trail of bodies of her own behind her. She clearly wasted no time.
Sabre scoffed in amusement before responding.
"Thanks for the assist."
Sabre and Mara then proceeded to clear out more of the dockyard within the interest of time, eliminating each gunman with precision and stealth. They then got to a point where there were only five gunmen left. All of which were grouped up by a shipping container. Meaning that they would have to be taken out all at once.
Sabre and Mara had the group cornered without their knowledge. Sabre covered one flank, while Mara covered the other. Leaving no avenue of escape for any of the gunmen.
"I count five hostiles." Began Sabre.
"How do you wanna handle this?" Asked Mara.
"There's too many of them for CQC. So we do this quickly and quietly. We don't let off of the triggers until they've all hit the floor."
"So, like a quiet shock and awe?"
"Something like that."
"Alright then. On you baby boy."
Sabre then peaked his head up to take another look at the group. Once he saw an opening, he motioned to Mara to signal the play. She nodded in response and the two sprung their attack.
Both emerged from cover and began emptying rounds into the groups direction. A minimum of two rounds each hit each gunman. The fifth and final remaining gunman had the most time to react to what was happening, and was about to aim his rifle up at Sabre.
Sabres magazine was dry, but luckily he saw what the gunman was doing ahead of time. He rushed over to him in full sprint, blade in hand and tackled him to the ground. He then shoved his karambit into the gunmans throat, ending his life before he could make another move. He then pulled out the blade and wiped the blood off on the dead gunamans torso before getting up.
Mara had finished off the remaining gunman during that time, but managed to see Sabres quick reflexes in action.
"Good shit baby boy." Commented Mara.
Sabre then turned to her direction to respond, when he saw another gunman coming from behind Mara.
"Mara!" Shouted Sabre.
Mara quickly turned around and set her eyes on the gunman behind her. Before he could get his gun on her, she smacked it out of his grasp and wrestled him to the ground. She then pulled her blade out and plunged it deep into his collar. His body went limp almost immediately.
Sabre was a bit surprised to see just how fast she reacted to his callout. He knew that she was good, but seeing her in action really put her skills on display.
Mara wiped the blood from her blade off of her victims torso just as Sabre did only a moment ago. She then got up off of the corpse and rejoined Sabre.
"So you are as good as they said you were." Commented Sabre, noticeably impressed with Mara.
Mara gave him a grin in response before responding. "Oh, so you liked what you saw there?" Said Mara with the standard level of seduction in her voice that she seemed to only use when speaking to him.
"In terms of your combat skills, yeah."
"Is that what you wanna call it?"
Sabre let out a chuckle. "Oh shut up already. Let's grab that manifest."
Sabre then made his way to the open shipping crate where he last saw one of the gunmen set the manifest down at. It was inside just as he suspected. He picked it up and began to review its contents. Mara stopped by his side to take a look as well.
"What've we got?" She asked.
"Basic shipment info. Looks like they're moving weapons. Shocker. But I'm looking for names."
Sabre continued to skim through the manifest, hoping to find what he was looking for. Within a moment, he found just that on the bottom of the next page.
Alejandro Rojas
"There's our guy!" Said Sabre with satisfaction. "Looks like he's overseeing a big shipment of weapons thats leaving in a few days. And we've got the location on its departure."
"Looks like Miguel's tip paid off nicely." Commented Mara.
"Fuck yeah it did. Now we know where this fucker will be, and when he'll be there. It should make grabbing him that much easier."
"Sweet. Now then, we should get rid of these bodies. That should hopefully buy us some time before the rest of the militia start wondering where these assholes have gone off to."
"Agreed."
Later...
Sabre and Mara had met back up with Miguel at a restaurant in town to review their findings at the dockyard.
They were all seated in a booth by the window. Sabre and Mara sat beside each other, while Miguel sat across from them.
"You two killed all of them??" Asked Miguel, a bit surprised to hear what they were saying.
"Yup, there were too many for us to try and slip by them. And we couldn't risk them leaving with the manifest." Answered Mara.
"Right... Well the absence of that group should hopefully go unnoticed for a while. They were all grunts anyway. But from what I can see here, it looks like you've got exactly what you need to snatch up Rojas." Responded Miguel while looking over the shipping manifest that Mara and Sabre had showed him.
"Your tip was good Miguel. It should hopefully be smooth sailing from here on out." Said Sabre.
"That would certainly be nice." Replied Miguel. He then handed the manifest back to Sabre and Mara. "Well, it'll be a few days before that shipment gets ready to head out. So I was thinking that in the meantime, I could have the two of you help me out with some things. I've still got a resistance force to lead after all. So maybe we kill two birds with one stone, ya know?"
Sabre looked over to Mara with an uncertain look on his face. He was all for helping a good cause, but him and her had a much bigger task at hand. And he didn't want to jeopardize their mission just in order to assist Miguel with the militia.
Mara looked back at Sabre with a look of her own. One which suggested that she wasn't going to say no to Miguel's request.
She figured that they owed him. And in a big way. The least they could do was help him out while they waited for day that Rojas would attend to his shipment. They certainly had the time after all.
After looking at Mara, Sabre decided not to protest.
Mara then spoke up. "Seems fair to me."
"Great! I'll contact the two of you tomorrow to discuss what I've got in mind. But for now, I've gotta head out. There's some shit that I gotta take care of. I'll leave the two of you alone for a romantic lunch. Take it easy."
Sabre could only roll his eyes at the joke. Miguel then got up from his seat and made his way out of the restaurant, leaving Sabre and Mara alone.
Mara then looked over to Sabre with a grin on her face as he was still seated beside her.
"So..." Began Mara.
Sabre looked back at her with a raised eyebrow before responding. "So...?"
"Job well done?" Mara then brought her fist over to him for a fist bump.
Sabre saw this and gave her a grin back before exchanging in the fist bump. "Job well done."
"That's the spirit! Now then, we ordering something or what?"
"Fuck yeah, I'm starving."
"So this really is a date for us."
"Shut the fuck up."
FINALLY I GOT THIS SHIT OUT! I'm pretty happy with how this chapter turned out. And I certainly hope you guys enjoyed it. This chapter was really meant for setting things up. There didn't turn out to be as much action as I wanted to put in unfortunately. But don't worry, there will most definitely be WAY more to come. And I'm also SUPER excited to get into the chapter that focuses on the boys of the 141. But we're not there quite yet. Now that I feel like I'm on a bit of a roll, I may just get to work on the next chapter immediately. I also wanna thank those of you who have shared your feedback on the story so far. I'm glad to see that you guys wanted Mara to have a place in fanfiction as much as I did. Like literally nobody else that I could find has used her. So I figured, fuck it I'll do it myself. Also, anyone spot the GTA 6 reference?? Anyway, let me know what you all think, and I'll see you all HOPEFULLY soon this time. Peace & Love!
