The Kids Next Door an elite organization that Jean wasn't supposed to know exist she'd found out by accident
Marching band practice had ended early because of bad weather
Jean walked home through the park trying to make it home before the rain got too bad making it home she reached for the handle of the back door when she heard her parents talking to someone in the kitchen about a raid on the League of Shadows
Someone who sounded like a kid
Why were her parents talking to a kid about the League of Shadows
When Jean heard footsteps she hid in her moms rose bush from her vantage point she saw a pair of kids tennis shoes not too different from something her brother Robbie wore walk past
After the kid was gone Jeans mom told her to get out of the bushes they explained that was Numbuh 1938 the Kids Next Doors liaison to the Justice League that the Kids Next Door were a espionage organization who worked to protect kids from people who would target them
How since the teenage eavesdropper listening to their conversation was the daughter of Supergirl and Static she was being trusted not to speak about the Kids Next Door to those who weren't authorized to know
Jean had kept that promise and as far as she knew she never met another Kids Next Door operative
Turns out one of her childhood crushes best friends was an operative
"I must say I was surprised to discover a decommissioned KND operative caught in my web" the telepath said using TJ's body like some kind of twisted body stepping out of the shadows were CJ Morgan codename Nightshade Bobby Drake Junior codename Glacier and his sister Callie codename Wrecking ball
"It took a moment to reverse the decommissioning process but worth it to deal with you Shockwave"
"Four on one just for little old me I'm flattered" Jean quipped trying to think of a way to incapacitate three Xmen and a former spy without hurting them the telepath smirked an unnatural look on TJs face "you know you're right four on one is a waste of resources for one young ward" the telepath said before TJ's body got into a fighting stance
"One puppet will be more than enough" TJ held up his blaster firing a volley of shots at Jeans face and chest using her powers she pulled a piece of the sewer wall and used it as a shield to block the blasts
Jean was surprised when TJ vaulted over the wall with using his hand still on the wall to push himself forward Jean got a pretty good look at the soles of his shoes the collision knocked her back she bounced against the wall TJ grabbed her by the collar of her coat and threw her in an arc into the sewer water
Before she could surface TJ pinned her by the neck with his shoe keeping her into the water while with his hands he aimed his blaster at her head
Shiro and Peter flew to a mansion the source of the telepathic mind control was coming from here
The closer he got to the source the stronger it was in the back of his head Shiro could hear the telepaths voice feel his presence trying to force him into submission like Apocalypse had done
'Never again' Shiro kept repeating 'I refuse to let myself to be controlled again'
His actions would be his
"Your will is strong Sunfire it's a shame you didn't have this strength of will when Apocalypse made you his puppet' the telepath mocked trying to get Shiro to lose his temper drop his defenses but he wouldn't
It will take more than words to make me drop my defenses telepath Shiro thought back
'I agree' was the telepaths reply Shiro felt the hairs on the back of his head tense up the temperature suddenly spiked Shiro turned grabbing Peter pushing him to the ground as a fire ball arced through the air flying where Peters head was previously turning a rose bush to ash before Peter looked thankful to Shiro
Shiro grunted standing back up following the path the fireball came from to see the Ben Tennysons alien form Heatblast in his peripheral vision to the left Supergirl and to his right Jake Long the American Dragon
Behind him Shiro could hear footsteps a fourth person
"Aren't you happy to see your fellow horsemen again' the telepath asked 'Michael if you would be so kind as to deal with these intruders'
"It would be my pleasure sir" the one behind him said Shiro deduced that this was Michael
"You're Michael" Peter exclaimed "you sent the Amazo android after me and Iron Phantom on Earth one"
Shiro turned to look at Michael who vaguely reminded Shiro of Peter Rasputin though older thinner and not in possession of a moral compass if he was willing to send a killer android after a teenager
"It was nothing personal Mr. Fenton" Michael said politely "my employers were hoping to have your father and the original Red X blame each other for the disappearance of their sons so they could continue their work without scrutiny"
With a twist of his wrist a knife dropped into his wrist "this also will not be personal" he said throwing the knife Shiro intercepted the knife Supergirl and the American dragon flew at Peter
Shiro stomped his foot creating a ring of fire that knocked back the two he turned on the balls of his feet blocking a punch from Heatblast
"Go" Shiro shouted "I'll hold them off"
Shiro unleashed a wave of fire that blinded the four assailants letting Peter escape into the telepaths mansion once the fire cleared the enemy was attacking him from all sides
Peter ran through the mansion
Thanks to the Professors telepathic instructions he knew where in the mansion where he knew the other telepath was in the mansion
The security turrets blasting at his hardened skin were also a good clue though Peter held his arm up in front of his face shielding it from the laser blasts flying up he threw a punch shattering the turret
Peter flipped through the air blasting another turret landing on his feet Peter flew forward heading through the hallway his eyes widened when a red portal opened and out ran Michael who threw knives with green blades at Peter
Peter slid across the floor the knives flew over his head he got back up onto his feet firing a ghost ray at Michael who stepped back through the portal out of his peripheral Peter saw a new portal open Michael rushed out throwing a punch towards Peters head
Peter turned crossing his arms hardening his arms the force of Michaels punch sent Peter sliding across the floorboards "you're how I ended up on Earth one" he asked "how"
"Thanks to my mutant powers I am very familiar with the multiverse" Michael answered
Michael rushed forward picking up one of his fallen knives Michael swung at Peters face Peter bent back the knife passing over his head the ectoranium knife sent a surge of pain through his face when it grazed against his nose 'I really hate ectoranium' Peter thought in annoyance and pain
Peter tried to throw a punch at Michael who grabbed his fist with his free hand swinging him towards the wall flipping into the wall while using his intangibility to free his arm using his feet as a springboard he turned and threw a punch at Michael knocking him back into the wall
Peter rushed forward the moment he landed his eyes glowed ice blue as he pinned Michael in ice before he could get free "it's nothing personal Michael" Peter quipped using his own words against him before flying off seeing a heavy duty metal door
Peter not having the time to waste trying to break through the locks turned his hand intangible reaching into the mainframe by the box hardening his hand while keeping his wrist intangible he grabbed a handful of circuitry before he gave a hard yank ripping it apart from the inside
The door opened and Peter flew in
Only to be knocked back out by a fist
Peter straightened out robbing his sore jaw looking to whoever threw the punch it was one of the last people he'd want to fight
"Dad" Peter asked shocked his dad an emotionless look on his face flew straight at Peter
"I didn't think Michael would be beaten" Emmet said with a frown as he watched the mind controlled Danny Phantom fight with his own son
"It's a setback but a small one" Britney says "your operative has reached Xavier by now without Xavier the Inner Circle will rule and just in case things go wrong" Britney pulled out a vial of medical syringes filled to the brim with the cure
All the security tests at Worthington labs
"And if somehow things go wrong we have a backup plan" she said
Emmet nodded once again amazed at his wife's speed whether it was Axions lab the Xavier-Fenton institute or a transport truck from Worthington labs there was no security system that could stop her
"The future is still ours my king" Britney said giving him a kiss on the cheek
"The future is still ours my queen" Emmet said in agreement before he returned his full attention to the battle going on with Charles Xavier on the psychic plain
Charles had never faced a telepath as powerful as the young Emmet Frost he could feel the an unrelenting maelstrom of rage behind the younger mans powerful blows but the rage was tempered focused by memories of love of peace
He had found the point between rage and serenity
It was astonishing how similar the young man was to Eric both had seen the darkest cruelest parts of humanity and now was blind to the great good they were capable of and all the harm he was truly doing
On the material plain Charles watched more of his cruelty as young Kate Hyde entered Cerebro the young girls face twisted into a furious sneer so much like her fathers when he was the villain Mr. Hyde
Now like father like daughter she would carry the same scars
'Kate fight this' he tried pleading with his student trying to help her to break free but Charles was not a young man anymore he hadn't been for sometime he couldn't help her to break free and back the White King from placing everyone on earth under his control
His powers were too strong all Kate could see was what the White King wanted her to see an enemy that needed to be stopped by any means necessary to protect those she loved
Kate lunged forward grabbing him by the throat Charles began to feel faint and weak unable to keep up the fight on the psychic plain and without him all of mankind would be forced to bow before the White King he had failed

Jean broke out of the water gratefully taking in air looking around she saw the others thankfully were levitating the opposite polarities were holding them in place in the air
Good she didn't have time for a round two she had to get to the institute and protect Professor Xavier
Before Jean could take a step towards the institute she felt a massive pain in her head bringing her to her knees
A statue shattering against his back was the latest in a long list of blows he'd taken in the fight against these three
As Apocalypses mind controlled pawn Shiro had done a lot of terrible things to a lot of innocent people who didn't deserve it these three Kara Kent Ben Tennyson and Jake Long were the ones he 'recruited' to be horsemen for Apocalypse
Even if they weren't under mind control these three would probably want to throw a punch at him
And they had decades more experience doing it than the last time he saw them
Ben Ten was now in an alien form Shiro hadn't seen some kind of green squid creature with an exposed brain in a glass dome grabbed him with his tentacles throwing him through the air towards Jake Long who slammed him with his tail towards the ground where Kara Kent grabbed him throwing him into the ground before blasting him with her heat vision in the chest
Shiro lay barely able to move he tried to get back up but he couldn't
That's when he felt it
'It seems your resistance isn't that strong after all' Shiro heard the White Kings voice say mockingly in his head
As long as Peter could remember Peter wanted to be a hero like his dad someone strong brave helped his friends saved the world more times than a person had fingers on his hands
But the older Peter got the more impossible it seemed that Peter would step out of his dads shoulder
When his dad was Peters age he fought in the War of the Worlds against the High Breed was invited by Captain America to join the Avengers was trained by Black Widow and Logans namesake Wolverine fought the Brotherhood of mutants Mr. Hyde and Freakshow stopped the Disasteroid
What had Peter done get a couple of As on his report card fought some training bots in the Danger room fought in a few fights ignoring everyone telling him that having a crush on a student teacher would end with a happy ever after
He was in way over his head fighting against a crazy powerful telepath who could mind control his dad
Fighting against his dad
Peter was barely able to dodge a punch from his dad Peter barely got a reprieve when his dad turned like a dime punching in the face sending him flying back his dad shot out of his mouth a wave of glowing blue smoke it surrounded him squeezing on his body before turned into ice
Peter tried to break free but the ice was too strong he couldn't break free
That's when it happened Peter felt the professors psychic protection was fading and fading fast
Peter blacked out when he felt the full force of the evil telepaths power against his mind
Peter woke up with a shock where was he what just happened where was he
He was on a king sized bed in what looked like a five star hotel Peter looked out the window he could see the Eiffel tower
How did he get to Paris he tried to rack his brain for the how or the why but he couldn't remember
Maybe he could find out why if he looked around he went to the closet there were suits all white but they couldn't be his they looked to be for an adult a very tall adult
So why were they in the closet
Were they sent to his room by mistake or was he in someone else's hotel room Peter looked around he found a wallet in the bedside table great that was progress he was getting somewhere
He opened the wallet and saw his ID
But that couldn't be right
According to this he was twenty five years old and six foot seven that couldn't be right he was fifteen wasn't he
Peter ran into the hotel bathroom he looked in the mirror he was tall
And buff
He had the same beard and mustache that he did in the ID photo
He was twenty five what happened and why couldn't he remember what happened in what was the last ten years
Behind him Peter heard the door open he stepped out of the bathroom and his jaw nearly dropped
It was Rachel
She was older her hair was longer reaching down past her shoulders wearing a blue sundress with white lace on the shoulders and heels a gold wedding ring on her left hand
Wait wasn't there a mens wedding ring on the bed side table how had he missed that
When Rachel saw him she smiled "good morning" she said before she kissed him "I thought you'd still be sleeping"
Something was wrong but why couldn't he figure out what why couldn't he remember
"Are you all right" she asked sounding concerned putting her hands on his cheeks looking him in the eye "maybe you should go back to sleep you didn't sleep much on the plane"
"Plane"
"Yes honey the plane remember we're here in Paris you surprised me with this trip for our fourth anniversary"
"Anniversary" Peter asked "we're married"
It was starting to come back to him now he confessed to Rachel when he turned eighteen he'd asked her out than and there for a date she hadn't been sure because of the age difference but he'd won her over he'd dazzled her swept her off her feet
She'd fallen in love with him almost as much as he loved her and on their sixth month anniversary he'd proposed and she'd said yes they've been happily married ever since all of his friends and family had been at the wedding
No that's not right Peter didn't remember seeing his grandparents his aunt Jazz or uncle Antonio TJ and Jayden weren't there either
"Yes Peter we're married for the past four years" she said again "you must really be tired go back to bed Paris will be there when you wake up"
"Right when I wake up" Peter said in agreement "hey why wasn't Jayden at the wedding"
Rachel giggled sweetly "of course he wasn't there a ordinary human has no right being a guest at a wedding for his betters"
"What" Peter asked that didn't sound like Rachel the Rachel he knew was one of the kindest sweetest people she never spoke bad about anyone even him after
After what
"Exactly after everything his kind have done to homo superior the only place they'd have being there is as the help" Rachel continued as if he hadn't said anything "not since the White King took the throne" she said as she lead him towards the bed "maybe that's why you're so exhausted he must be working you so hard as one of his knights"
"Knights"
"Yes dear I'm so proud you're the greatest hero in the world young mutants all over the world want to be just like you" she praised him complimented him "besides even if your cousin could be there you wouldn't have wanted him to be not after the time he burst in on us when you were visiting me at work with a bouquet trying to steal your fiancé from you"
Peter remembered now
He remembered everything
Peter hadn't ever dated Rachel Jayden did
Peter had never been engaged to Rachel Jayden was
And it wasn't Jayden who'd eavesdropped on Rachel with Peter no that was him
Peter remembered he remembered what really happened the last time he talked to Rachel
It had been in his room the night of his unplanned trip to Earth one
It was going to take a week for him to fully heal and he'd be grounded for twice that long one week for cutting school and another for lying to his mom about where he was going
Peter hadn't expected to see Rachel he hadn't expected her to visit him
"Hey" she said
"Hi" Peter said not looking at her
"I'm glad you're okay a lot of people were worried about you" she said "I was too" Rachel pulled out the bouquet he'd bought for her earlier that day "thank you for the flowers they were really sweet so was the card"
"So you know" Peter asked he'd confessed his feelings for her on the card
"Yeah Peter you're a nice kid and I'm flattered but I don't feel that way about you I'm too old for you and I'm in love with someone else"
"Yeah my cousin" Peter said that was a punch to the gut he hadn't expected "you must think I'm some dumb kid with a crush"
"You're not the first person to have a crush on a teacher Peter you're not even the first person in this room" she said "when I was your age I had a crush on your dad"
"My dad" Peter exclaimed surprised "but he's married to my mom"
"I was young and I thought he was handsome" Rachel admitted "it took some time longer than I'd care to admit but I got over it and you're going to get over me and when that happens you're going to find someone amazing who you'll fall heads over heels with and she'll fall in love with you"
"Still feels lousy"
"It gets better I promise" Rachel pat him gently on the arm
"This isn't real you aren't real" Peter said to the fake Rachel "and I'm going to wake up right now" Peter said his eyes glowing bright green as ecto energy began to surge across his body
Peter unleashed it in a massive wave he was awake still surging with power he knocked out his dad he headed for the Cerebro chambers finding a man in a white suit with a cerebro headset on his head and a pretty blonde woman
"It can't be" he said
"You must be the White King prepare to get dethroned" Peter said the blonde woman pulled out some kind of medical syringe and ran at Peter she was fast really fast but Peter had spent a lot of hours in the danger room training against people who could go faster
He may not be able to see her but thanks to all that training he could predict where she was going to be and intercept her Peter threw out a punch hitting her outstretched arm the syringe ended up going into her arm she collapsed in a heap on the floor all of her momentum gone
Almost like her oh
She somehow got her hands on the cure and tried to use it against him
"Britney" the white king shouted concerned before he hit Peter with a full blown telepathic attack
"You should have taken my offer when you had the chance you could have had everything you ever wanted" the White King yelled in his mind "you think you'll ever be a hero think you'll surpass your father you can't even surpass your own generation your 'cousin' Annie from Earth when she was your age defeated Thanatos the mad god of death you'll never do the same"
"Good for her I'm done comparing myself to people in my family" Peter said rushing forward grabbing one of the syringes of the cure he poked it into the White Kings neck
"My powers they're gone" the White King whispered horrified
"Welcome to the human race your majesty" Peter said turning he barely noticed the woman had one last syringe in her hand he wanted to dodge but he was so tired
She threw the needle at him but someone else took the hit
"Dad" Peter asked shocked while his dad pulled out the syringe and for the last time Danny Phantom turned back into Danny Fenton
"It's okay Peter I've been thinking about retirement for a while now" Danny said turning to hug him
"But what about Amity Park the Avengers what if a ghost comes through trying to cause trouble" he asked
His dad laughed "things are different now than when I was fourteen my enemies have either retired are in ghost jail and most can't get out of the ghost zone thanks to the security system your grandparents put on their portal but on the chance any ghost comes through to cause trouble you can handle it"
"Really"
"I could hear your thoughts Peter the White Kings idea of a sick joke" his dad explained "but you're wrong son the me as a kid you surpassed him years ago I'm sorry I didn't tell you that enough I'm sorry you put impossible expectations on yourself about surpassing me when you already did I don't know what your future holds but whatever it does I'm always going to be proud of you always have been always will be"
Peter nodded hugging his dad back
So props to Danifan3000 for sort of figuring out the cure would be weaponized probably not the way you were thinking of
Well this is it one last chapter this has been quite a long time coming
But something isn't beautiful because it lasts forever
