Chapter 02: A Friendly chat with Spring & Death
Previously:
"Who the hell are you people?"
Unknown forest, North-West England, 20.03.1979
Silence. It was the only thing heard throughout the forest for the next twenty seconds. Followed by,
"You dare insult me, you insolent mortal. You are ones who summoned us hear. And you dare try to show disrespect towards me and my beloved, through your insolence" thundered the male figure.
"Calm down my dear husband, we are supposed to be benevolent beings, we should not go smiting mortals who have summoned us for the first time in a millennia before the first minute we have appeared before them" the female figure said in a chiding voice to husband. Who mumbled something incoherent under his breath, which mostly consisted of Latin.
The female figure then turned towards Lily "Now, you little miss, tell us why you have summoned us? We gods have work to do and places to be" she said in a slightly aristocratic voice.
Lily having finally finding her voice, she replied "I am extremely sorry for my husband's rude behaviour mam. But I think there has been a slight misunderstanding…" before she was interrupted "MISUNDERSTANDING! Misunderstanding, we have been brought here due to a mortal's flimsily misunderstanding. After millennia's of hard work I had finally somehow managed to convince my sister, to let her daughter stay one extra day with me. And I get interrupted due to a misunderstanding" thundered the male figure, whom Lily had figured out by now was a god.
Lily cowered in fear from the anger exerting from the God's aura. To make the scene even more frightening black tendrils of shadows started spreading out from the God's robe. Though there slight foul smell coming from next to her. That would probably be James wetting his robes thought Lily.
The Goddess put an arm around her husband, then slightly admonished him in whispers. Then she turned to Lily, lifting her hand gesturing Lily to continue.
"I am once again extremely sorry for summoning you my Lord and Lady. But as I said before this was a misunderstanding, we given this ritual by a close friend of ours, we got it in the preface that it was a fertility ritual. As you see my Lady, both me and my husband were cursed to be barren during one the fights in our ongoing war" replied Lily with a slight bow as a sign of respect.
"Finally caught up have you now. Hmm, you seem to be one of Trivia's blessed mortals, what do you go by nowadays? Yes, witches and wizards, isn't that right my dear?" the Goddess asked Lily with a smile tugging her lips. To which Lily nodded her head.
"My Lady once again I mean no disrespect towards either of you, but exactly which God and Goddess are you? And if could help us have a child, we would be eternally indebted to you? Could please help us?" begged Lily, tears segregating at the corners of her emerald green eyes.
"None taken my dear. I am highly surprised that someone as sharp as you have yet to figure out who we are, I am Lady Proserpina, Goddess of Springtime, Queen of the Underworld, Daughter of Lord Jupiter and Lady Ceres. And my dear husband is, Lord Pluto, God of the Underworld and Riches, King of the underworld, Firstborn male of Lady Opis and Saturn" said the goddess with a smile on her face.
Both Lily and James bowed downed before the deities present before them in respect, awe and a tiny amount of fear. But Lord Pluto waved them of saying that he was not his brother, whatever that means.
"As for your last request my dear the answer is yes. You see I am also a minor Goddess of Fertility. So yes I can help you with that. But I was thinking of something else. If the plan that I have is set in motion not only will you have a child, but with his birth your war may sooner than it's intended time and he will also be a major help to us Gods. So what say you?" The Queen of the Underworld asked the mortal couple.
"My Lord and Lady, can we take a few minutes to discuss our decision" Lily requested humbly. Which was immediately granted by the queen. As soon they received permission, Lily dragged her husband to corner in the forest clearing they were in.
"So, what do you think James, shall we accept their offer? It seems the last one will give more protection to our child. And I have feeling that if we pick the first option, the result may not be in our favor. So, give me your opinion James?" Lily asked her husband. Who after snapping out of the revelation, that they were conversing with actual deities "I think you are right Lily-flower, we should go with the second option, since it is favored by them, we don't want to leave our unborn child an orphan right" replied James trying to joke but after seeing his wives serious look sobered up.
After reaching their collective (slightly biased) decision, they went to the 2 deities to inform them of their decision. Meanwhile when the mortal couple went to discuss, Pluto turned towards his wife and opened his mouth to say something, but was silenced when his wife's soft lips touched. After their short but sweet kiss, Pluto once again tried to say something, but his wife signaled him that they would discuss about this later.
They turned around just in time to see the mortals approach them. They were motioned to tell them about their decision. When both said that they would go ahead with the second option. There was sudden glimmer in the queen's eyes, but it died downed as soon as it appeared.
"To set the plan I have in motion, it has to be approved by the Olympian Council. Don't lose hope I will try my best to make it work. But if it does not work, don't worry I will offer you the blessing from the first option" promised Proserpina. The mortal couple bowed their head in gratitude. "Now we will be leaving, we will inform you about the council's decision by the end of September this year. And don't forget to close your eyes while we flash" said the queen.
Both James and Lily immediately closed their eyes, there was sudden flash of light and ended. When they opened their eyes they found that the deities had left. James turned towards Lily.
"You think we have made the right decision my Lily-flower?" asked James looking intently at his wife.
"I hope so James, I hope so. But one thing I can guarantee you for certain is that, the mangy mutt is in for one Pluto of a cursing from my wand" muttered Lily. To which James gave a full bellied laugh. When was slowly joined by Lily in his laughter, at the utter insanity, that they mere would summon the King and Queen of the Underworld. It was like the one who wrote their fates was utterly insane, little did they know this was only the beginning of the utter chaos they would going through the following two laughter. They continued to laugh all the way through apparating to their home, till going to bedroom. Once they reached the comfort of their bed, both fell dead asleep. As they slept Apollo started taking his chariot out for its regular in the sky.
Castle of the Underworld, Underworld, 21.03.1979 (very early morning hours)
Once they flashed to the lounge room in their humble abode, both fell atop their sofa. Once they settled down and comfortable enough, their slightly shifted, both of them slightly losing some of their aristocratic looks. "What in my name was that all about Persephone? Did you think you will be able to get the council of your plan? Can you tell me what it is? I am worried what your mother will…" he kept on rambling until he was silenced by a kiss on the lips. After their kiss,
"Stop your ramblings, my dear. Once I tell my mother my idea she will be 100% on our side on the council meeting. And no I will not tell you about the plan, though when I reveal it during the council meeting you will be in for a big surprise. It not my mother whom you have to worry about Hades, it my father who will be our hindrance" said Persephone a slight frown appearing on her face which was immediately replaced by a sly look.
"Now will you keep on rambling to your poor little wife, or are you going to conduct your husbandly duties to me, before my mother arrives to pick me up?" she asked. With a massive grin on his face, Hades lifted his wife in bridal style and rushed to their bedroom.
Author's notes: Hello everyone I have uploaded the first two chapters, one immediately after the other, since I had already had a clear idea of what to write in it. But for the upcoming chapters the idea has been outlined but, there is still some tweaking work to complete.
Also I have some school exams coming in a few days' time, so the updates may not be uploaded in any pattern. I will try to write and upload it, whenever I am free. And also thank you for reading this chapter. Please review.
