"Were you serious?"
"About what?" Skye asked her father with a smile.
"Having dessert over there too?" Liam said.
"Of course, we're going to share," Skye said.
"One dessert," Mary added. "And we have to decide on them all together."
"So now what?" Pablo asked before they were turning to the girls.
"We want beignets," Ivy said.
"Right," Fleur said, nodding.
"And your second?" Mary asked.
"You pick," Iris said firmly before Liam was speaking with a smile.
"Oh, I don't know, the candy is more for you kiddies," the pilot said.
Shaking her head Marie said, "No really, pick."
"Well, a cookie here sounds quite good," Liam said, looking between his husband and the two women.
"You're right, there's one at French Market," Mary said. When she saw her wife was about to reach for her purse, Skye having given her the park map, she stopped her and said, "The wreath cookie."
"I imagine you lot want that too?" Skye asked when the younger girls were gasping in response.
"Then we better get started," Mary commented before they were starting to walk to New Orleans Square. They split up, her in-laws taking the three oldest getting the beignets and she and Skye taking their three youngest with them to the French Market.
"Are we going to watch Fantasmic?" Ivy asked once they were sitting at the restaurant with the others.
"No, we'll head to the other park next," Skye answered. "And we'll go to the games before we start going on rides… or trick or treating if you still want to do that."
"Could we?" Fleur asked hopefully.
"We should," Mary told her wife. "We'd be able to make our way to the Cars ride first."
"First? Isn't that a bit much?" Liam asked.
"A little," Mary said hesitantly. "I was going to suggest the Monsters Inc. ride but I didn't think they'd want to go on it."
"That's better," Skye said, watching the girls closely to hear any protests. When there were none, she said, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Marie said laughingly.
"She's right," Kathleen said, quickly agreeing with her sister. "We just want to have dessert over there too."
"Do we need to pick it?" Ivy asked.
"We already have," Mary said. She shared a smile with her wife when the girls were demanding to be told what it was. "Actually, your mum has picked."
"Thanks," Skye said in mock annoyance since her wife was looking at her. She then squeezed Mary's hand and turned to the girls saying, "I thought we might share an order of the candy funnel cake fries."
"Ooh, those are always good," Florrie said.
"Then you're in agreement too?" Skye asked with a smile at the girl.
"Yeah, I don't mind sharing," Florrie replied. She smiled at Marie when she squeezed her hand and then turned her attention to her last bite of The Nightmare Before Christmas themed cookie.
"Are we all finished?" Liam asked, seeing his granddaughters and Florrie wiping their mouths.
"Yes, let's go!" Kathleen said eagerly.
"We're going right now," Mary said with a smile, standing up with the others before they were leaving.
"Are we still coming back later?" Iris asked Skye while she was walking in between her mothers.
"Yes," the investigator said. She then looked down and asked, "Why are you so eager?"
"Trick or treating?" Mary inquired, sharing a smile with her wife as their youngest was giggling.
"Yeah," Iris finally said.
"A little more," Skye said, her wife nodding in agreement. "You have a lot more to come next week remember."
"Just four days," Florrie said while they were going out of the exit.
"I can't wait for that," Marie said. "Are you and your mom still coming over for dinner and trick or treating?"
"Definitely, Mom loves your moms' pizza," Florrie said.
"What if we were getting it delivered?" Skye asked.
"Rose," Mary said firmly.
"Just kidding," Skye said quickly. "So hopefully you'll enjoy the meal." She wasn't surprised when Florrie nodded before she and Marie were talking together rapidly, and she turned her attention to her wife.
"What's that look for?" Mary asked with a smile.
"Just wondering if we should let them trick or treat back there," Skye said.
"We couldn't?" Iris asked in disappointment.
"Let's see how long it takes to go around here," Mary replied before her wife could since they were reaching the entrance to the other park. After they were inside, they walked down Buena Vista Street, letting the kids stop at the different stations to get a candy before they went into a few gift shops.
"When we leave to go back to Disneyland you need to buy what you want," Skye said. "But we have to see what it is."
"Florrie too?" Marie asked.
"Of course," Mary said. "Did your mom tell you anything about a price or what not to get?"
"She didn't tell you?" Florrie couldn't help asking.
"She did, but we're making sure you were informed as well," Skye said with a smile while they walked down to the Monsters Inc. ride. She watched the girl hesitating before she was speaking a little shyly to hers and Mary's surprise.
"I kind of wanted to try and get something for my mom for Christmas," Florrie replied. "She does like Disney."
"Anything in mind?" Pablo asked her.
Shaking her head Florrie said, "I know it just needs to be special and Mickey. She loves Mickey." With a slight frown she said, "But I can't take it home… not yet at least."
"I can keep it in my room," Marie said in a rush.
"She's right, though you two will have to be the ones to remember of course," Skye said since her oldest had turned to her and Mary.
"We will," Marie said reassuringly before they were moving to get in line. After they had gone on the ride she said, "What're we going to do now?"
"Walk," Liam said. He looked at his daughter when she was glancing at him pointedly before she sighed. "We're heading over to the Cars ride, aren't we?"
"We are," Skye said. "But I want us to watch the two rides before it first."
"What about the Avenger's Campus?" Kathleen asked.
"We can go on Spider Man, it doesn't move that much," Fleur said.
"I don't think we should yet," Mary said.
"We'll come back when we leave to go back to Disneyland," Skye said, not surprised when the kids were looking at each other before Ivy spoke slowly.
"Are we going to be able to go on all the rides we want?" the little girl asked.
"I think so," Skye said. "It depends on what you want to do."
"The Cars ride," the three youngest said at the same time.
Laughing, the adults walked them to Cars Land where they watched the Mater and Luigi rides, the girls managing to convince their mothers to let them go on the latter ride.
"I hope you won't get sick," Skye said to Marie and Florrie since they were in the car with her.
"We won't," the former assured her mother. She then laughed when the investigator frowned at her, but they were soon starting to move, and she cried out in joy at the same time her girlfriend was.
While the cars were dancing around each other, Skye was watching the two with a keen eye. She was relieved when the ride ended and they seemed to be fine, but she was looking at the rest of the kids to make sure they were too. "So…" she started to say.
"We're okay," Kathleen said in a rush.
"Yeah, I'm ready to go on Radiator Springs," Fleur said firmly.
"Alright," Skye said when her wife looked at her to answer.
"When were you planning on actually having the dessert?" Pablo asked.
"Well, that one is going to be a little difficult," Mary said, sharing a knowing look with her wife. "We'll have to get it on the way to Disneyland."
"You wanted to do that didn't you?" Ivy asked her mothers.
"We did, we needed to put a little distance between the rides and our other dessert," Skye said. "And everyone's eating the dessert, right?" She smiled when everyone was agreeing before she told them, "Then let's head to the rides so we can finish them." Since they'd been walking to the next ride, she wasn't surprised when Iris was asking her grandfathers about it shortly after she'd finished speaking.
"You're going with us, right?" the little girl asked.
"We are," Pablo said.
"I wouldn't miss this for anything," Liam added, smiling when his youngest granddaughters were laughing at his tone.
"How're we going to sit," Mary asked them.
"Well," Skye said. "We'll just divide the kids. You and I will go with the oldest, Dad and Pablo with the youngest." She looked at the kids and asked, "Unless anyone has an objection to that?"
Not surprised when his grandchildren were shaking their heads, Florrie as well, Liam said, "I think we're set."
"Good because we're here," Pablo commented. He wasn't surprised when Ivy and Fleur pretended to run to the exit before their mothers were reining them in and they were walking together to the loading platform.
"I'm so excited," Florrie said to her girlfriend and Kathleen, sitting in the front row of their car with them. "But I feel a little bad."
"This is your mom's favorite," Marie said.
"Yep," Florrie said.
About to respond, Marie didn't have the chance since the car was heading past the main loading platform before they were beginning to go through the outdoor scenery. She glanced at her girlfriend while they were doing that, and she couldn't help reaching over, taking her hand before Florrie was smiling at her.
"You're not stopping that?" Mary murmured to her wife.
"You aren't," Skye said teasingly.
"No, I wouldn't have the heart to," Mary replied before she looked on as her wife was taking her hand and raising it to kiss the back of it. When they were inside the ride building, they were still holding onto one another until they came to the race.
They were racing with the rest of their family and were waving to each other at the beginning before they were taking off, the younger girls cheering when they finished since their car had won.
"Let's have a rematch!" Florrie exclaimed, smiling when her girlfriend and the others laughed. She then said, "Could we go on it again at all?"
"We'll have to wait and see," Mary answered. "We have a lot more to go on."
"Speaking of that, what's next?" Skye asked the kids.
"Incredicoaster!" the six all said at the same time.
"Are you letting them go?" Pablo asked.
"They handled this one, so I think they're ready for the coaster," Mary commented.
"You think? They're demanding it," Skye said in response. She wasn't surprised when her wife merely smiled at her and rolled her eyes before they were walking back through the land and to the ride.
"I'm surprised at you," Liam told his youngest granddaughter before she was giggling and responding.
"I don't want to go on it, but I could," Iris said.
"You don't want to?" Ivy asked her twin. "You could go with mummy."
"Don't pressure her," Skye said immediately. "If she doesn't want to go then she doesn't have to."
"No," Iris said firmly.
"We'll stay with her," Pablo said before looking at Mary pointedly.
"You don't have to go Mom," Marie said, her other sisters agreeing with her.
"Then Iris and I will go somewhere else," Mary said as she had looked at her wife and saw her smiling.
"Her choice," Skye commented before her wife was stepping up to her. They exchanged a brief kiss before they she said to the other five, "Alright, time for us to go."
"Is Mummy going to be okay watching them all by herself?" Iris asked her mother while they watched them leave.
"Of course, they'll listen to her," Mary said reassuringly.
"What are you going to do?" Liam asked when his daughter in law was looking at him and his husband.
"Could we go on Toy Story?" Iris asked hopefully.
"I don't think it's too fair for your sisters and Florrie," Mary told her gently.
"Okay," Iris said. "Then can we watch the roller coasters going?"
"If that's what you want," Mary replied. She wasn't surprised when the girl was nodding rapidly and said, "Then that's what we're going to do."
"We'll meet you at the Toy Story ride," Pablo said while he was taking Liam's hand at the same time they were looking at Iris who responded to their unasked question.
"We want to just go on the faster rides," the girl said. She paused and then added, "And the Toy Story one."
Laughing with her in-laws Mary said, "I'm not surprised. We'll see you."
"Where are they going?" Iris asked.
"Wherever they can sit and be alone for a little," Mary replied. "Probably by the next ride." She then pulled Iris to the side of the pool they were near, watching the roller coaster there shortly after launching. It took two more trains before they spotted their family, waving at them before they were taking off and she hugged her youngest to her.
"Mommy?" the little girl asked.
"Yes?" Mary replied.
"If I start going on rides, you're gonna be by yourself," Iris said.
"It's fine," Mary said. "I expected all five of you to be like your mum and the more thrilling rides." She saw the slightly doubtful look on her daughter's face and said, "I knew already your mum would want to go on the rides still and she does make it up to me."
"Kisses?" Iris asked immediately.
Laughing briefly, Mary said, "That and making sure we go on rides I like. You've been listening too much to Julia and Eliza."
"Of course, we don't want you to get a divorce!" Iris exclaimed.
"And we won't," Mary replied, hugging Iris when she did so to her. After they'd let go of each other she told her, "Now who are you going to ride with once we're at the next one?"
"Kath asked me to go with her," Iris replied. "Could I?" she then asked hopefully.
"We'll see," Mary said before they were watching another train go by. After they had watched a few more the rest of their family was joining them and they headed to where Liam and Pablo were, her wife calling out to them when they were close.
"We're here, are you ready to head onto this one?" Skye asked, nodding towards the ride.
"Of course, we were promised by Fleur and Ivy to compete," Liam said.
"It won't be really Mummy," Fleur said, taking Skye's hand as she gave her father a look.
"I know, but I have to tell him that so he won't take it seriously," the investigator replied, bringing her daughter close. She leaned down to kiss the side of her head before they were getting into line. "Who's going to ride with us?" she then asked.
"Girls," Mary said when their daughters and even Florrie were smiling at each other.
"Well… I suppose we should be grateful they're keeping us together," Skye commented to her wife before they were stepping forward.
"Why did we get in line?" Kathleen asked her mothers.
"It's not that long right now," Skye said.
"The party?" Florrie guessed.
"It is, again you didn't want to go?" Mary asked them.
"No way," Marie said.
"Yeah, that way we can go in line," Fleur said before she was giggling with her younger sisters.
"I'm not surprised you feel that way," Skye said. She watched the girls begin to talk to each other before glancing at her dad and seeing he was talking to Pablo. "So," she began before her wife was laughing softly and then speaking in amusement.
"For all our protest I'm glad they do this," Mary said.
"So am I," Skye said with a nod. She then squeezed her wife's hand and asked in Japanese, "Should we use this for tomorrow night?"
Mary bit at her lower lip for a moment before she said, "I think so, but what exactly should we bet?"
"You really want to know?" Skye asked.
"Alright, make it a surprise," Mary told her before they were continuing in the line.
Squeezing her wife's hand, Skye let her wife walk ahead of her as they were nearing the loading platform. She studied Mary while they were walking and knew already they were going to end up disregarding the bet and sharing their desire the next night. She tried not to think too much of what she wanted to 'collect' from her wife, instead making sure their daughters were alright getting on the ride before they were doing the same themselves to begin to play.
"Are you getting tired?" Skye said to Ivy when she was leaning against her.
"A little," the girl replied.
"Then do you not want dessert?" Mary asked.
"No, I do," Ivy said rapidly. "But I didn't know we were going to be here."
"But you don't want to go home yet, right?" Marie asked.
"Oh no! No!" Ivy protested. "I want to go play… I mean ride… dessert?"
"It's okay, we'll sleep in tomorrow," Skye said before they reached where their planned dessert was. "Luckily I have until Monday for my paperwork." She and Mary went to get theirs while her dad and stepfather stayed though she couldn't help asking them, "Are you sure you don't want to share?"
"We just want coffee for the rest of the night," Pablo said.
Looking at her watch Mary told them, "We don't have that much more time," before she was looking at the girls when they were groaning. They started laughing together before her wife was speaking to them in mock annoyance.
"You knew the park was going to close at eleven," Skye said. "But we do have enough time to go around Disneyland."
"But we can't go right away," Marie commented.
"No, but there's the chance for you lot to go on those slow rides you kept skipping," Skye replied with a smile. "We'll be back."
After waving to their daughters with her wife, Mary squeezed Skye's hand and said, "Do you think they'll want to go on the faster rides?"
"A few at the very least," Skye said. "And remember the sugar we're all getting right now." She smiled when her wife wrapped one arm around her and was about to ask why when the doctor was answering already.
"I am thinking about tomorrow night," Mary said.
"I had a feeling," Skye replied. "And I am too but promise me something."
"Alright," Mary said in slight surprise.
Before she could respond, Skye and Mary needed to place their order which they did quickly before she said, "We both use our bets."
Smiling, Mary said, "I was planning on that already… at least mine."
Nodding her head, Skye said, "Great, now I wish it was tomorrow." She smiled when her wife began laughing and she hugged her before she said, "While I'm partly serious I did want to finish today."
"I know, I feel the same," Mary replied. "But do you really think they'll want to keep going?"
"They will," Skye assured her. She then squeezed her wife's hand and told her, "Is there anything you want to go on?"
"I think we've gone on everything," Mary replied. "What about you?"
Shaking her head Skye said, "I've gone on everything." They were quiet for a while before she asked, "Are you tired?"
"Very," Mary said. She smiled at her wife squeezing her hand and said, "I figured."
"Yeah, me too," Skye replied. "Though luckily they're not against the idea of sleeping in tomorrow."
"What about their request?" Mary asked.
"I'm thinking it would be better to leave the Promenade and Pier instead for Saturday," Skye said. She wasn't surprised when her wife was nodding in agreement and then said, "I miss our game room and pool."
"We did play today," Mary reminded her wife with a smile. "But I know you mean playing with the girls," she added, not surprised when her wife was responding.
"I do, but I'm wondering about Florrie," Skye said.
"Do you think her mother would have her stay?" Mary asked.
"Maybe," Skye said. "I'll talk to her tomorrow, also see if Florrie would even want to stay."
Mary only had the chance to nod when her name was called, and she moved to head to the counter with her wife and they took everything to their family. "Don't eat too quickly," she said to the girls.
"Also wait for us to split this for you," Skye said.
"Are we sharing?" Fleur asked.
"Yes, do you mind sharing with your sister?" Skye replied with her own question.
"No," Fleur said, looking at Kathleen who nodded.
After helping Mary split up everything, Skye sat with her before they were beginning to eat and she said, "You're not going to get dessert tomorrow."
"We could have it at the Pier, something small," Marie said.
"We're not going tomorrow," Mary said.
"Don't groan," Skye said firmly to them when they'd begun to. "We'd like to stay at home and recover."
"Then that means we can swim?" Ivy asked.
"That's the plan," Skye said, not surprised when Marie and Florrie were looking at one another. She smiled and told them, "Would you like to join us?"
"Yeah," Florrie admitted. "But I don't know if my mom would let me."
"We can talk to her," Mary said. "Though Saturday night we might go to the Promenade and Pier. I'm not sure your mom would let you stay with us all three days, but if she did, we'd have no problem with that," not surprised when Marie was responding to her swiftly as she was smiling at her girlfriend.
"I hope she will be," the girl said.
"She might be… she might want to go to a spa," Florrie said.
"Should I remind her of that?" Skye asked.
Hesitating for a moment, Florrie shook her head before she said, "Better not, I'm sure my mom will remember."
"Alright," Skye told them. They continued to eat and once they'd finished their desserts she said, "I hope you guys thought of what ride you want to go on now."
"Just one?" Fleur asked.
"Don't be cheeky," Liam told her with a smile.
"He's right and you won't be able to really go on anything that fast yet," Mary said.
"We talked about it already, how about the ones in Fantasyland?" Marie asked.
"But not Small World," Kathleen added in a rush.
"I'm not surprised," Skye said with a smile. "Alright, now does anyone want to go to the gift shops here?"
"I… could we go to the gift shop at Disneyland instead?" Florrie asked since the investigator was looking at her.
"Of course, you might have more luck there and we won't have to carry it," Mary said. After they'd thrown away their trash, they got up and headed to the other park, the girls grouped together in front of them. "I see they got their energy back quickly," not surprised when her wife was responding first.
"Again, all that sugar?" Skye responded. She wasn't surprised when her wife merely smiled and shook her head before she said, "Did we decide on a specific ride first?" directing that to the kids ahead of them.
"Peter Pan!" the six responded with.
"I'm not surprised," Skye commented. She then said to her wife, "What do you think about going together?"
"Oh, I already know they'll tell us to do that," Mary said with a smile. "So as long as you're game I am too." She wasn't surprised when her wife's response was to take her hand before kissing the back of it. When they made it to the ride, they were sitting together in a boat though they'd managed to get Ivy to sit with them.
"You're not pouting, are you?" Skye asked the girl when they were nearing the end.
"No, I don't mind sitting with you but are you sure I should have sat in the middle?" Ivy asked.
"Yes," Skye and Mary said at the same time, sharing a smile when their second youngest was laughing.
"Did you talk about the next ride?" Mary asked her.
"Mr. Toad," Ivy answered quickly. "And then after that we can go right?"
Shaking her head Skye answered, "We can't really say yet, wait until we're off the ride?"
Though she had expected her mother to say that, Ivy couldn't help feeling a little disappointed though she was soon distracted by them getting off of their boat.
Walking easily to the ride since it was next door, the family paired off and once they were meeting with each other the girls began asking their mothers about the more thrilling rides before Mary was calming them down as she spoke.
"It's been long enough by now… though why you five wanted to go through the line…" she said teasingly.
"We couldn't help it," Marie said with a smile.
"Your mom is right," Skye said. "What do you guys want to do now?"
"Thunder Mountain," the kids said at the same time, even Florrie.
"And then the Star Wars rides," Kathleen added.
"Oh good, I didn't think you'd want to go there," Liam said, smiling. He then said, "But is that it?"
"You want us to say everywhere we want to go?" Fleur asked in surprise.
"No, I'm talking to your mothers," Liam explained.
"No, we still have some time," Mary said while her wife was looking at her watch. "And I think we'll be able to get more rides in."
"Starting now," Skye said firmly. She smiled when the others were laughing and took Fleur's hand before they were walking together towards Frontierland.
"What do you think?"
"It's pretty," Marie said, nodding her head. "Your mom will like that I think. It has Minnie and Pluto too… she likes them too, right?"
"Yeah, luckily," Florrie replied.
Looking at the price on the bottom of the paperweight, Marie asked her girlfriend in a little concern, "Can you buy it?"
"Yep, I saved my money," Florrie replied. She smiled and then said, "I don't have to buy too many presents." When her girlfriend frowned slightly, since her family was only herself and her mother, she kissed her cheek quickly and said, "It's okay, I like having more money for gifts."
"You don't have to buy me that much," Marie said firmly.
"I won't," Florrie said.
"Or anything that expensive," Marie added.
"Don't worry," Florrie said laughingly. "I have your gift already."
"Great me too," Marie said before they began laughing until they saw her grandfather was walking up to them. "You could see where we were, right?" she asked him.
"I could," Liam assured her. "But your mums are waiting for you so you can play."
"I'm ready," Florrie said.
"Me too," Marie said. "I'm getting this shirt for myself," she said, holding it up to herself.
"Your mom said you'd get something from the Halloween merchandise," Liam told his granddaughter.
"I couldn't help it," Marie said as they were beginning to walk over to the registers.
Mary took everything the girls found and paid, her wife taking Florrie to another register to buy her mother's gift. When they were meeting up again, she said, "We still have more time."
"We could go on another ride?" Iris said eagerly.
"One and I think we'll pick this one," Skye started to say.
"No! Let's split up," Ivy said eagerly. "You and Mommy go to… whatever you want and we'll go-"
"Hold on," Skye said firmly. "We're not going to split up. We'll stick together and your mom and I will decide."
"I think I know already," Liam said.
"You don't," Mary replied.
"You know what ride it is?" Fleur asked.
"Of course," Mary said. "It is your mum after all," she added before the kids were gasping and crying out at the same time.
"Astro Orbiter!" they were saying.
"If everyone's alright with it," Skye said, looking at her wife.
"Pablo and I will stay on the ground," Liam said. "Unless anyone else wants to come with us?"
"I think they're all going," Mary commented when no one else said anything. They started to walk then and as they were doing so she said, "We're not going alone on these."
"Don't protest," Skye said, unable to keep from smiling when the girls were groaning. "We've gone on so many alone I think we're good." As they reached the ride, she squeezed Fleur's hand that she was holding and said, "Going with me?"
"Oui," Fleur replied with a wide smile.
Squeezing her daughter's hand again as she smiled, Skye shared another with Mary before they were turning their attention to the rocket-spinner attraction, talking with their family and Florrie in the short line of what would be their last ride for their Halloween themed night at the resort.
