18. New Friends

I desperately want a beer rn but dry January says otherwise so let's distract ourselves for the next 20 or 30 minutes and fantasize. Well I'm realizing now that that's a broad time frame. But like ion know what level reader you are. Hell I'm a slow reader myself so a chapter this long would take me at least like 25 granted I don't get distracted. At the same time I don't like reading so in all honesty probably 30mins for me to finish. Ironic isn't it? I write but don't like reading. Oh well at least I can read and that's a vibe. Lena's POV

"No I just don't think it'll be a fit for me. I thought joining the police would be a good idea especially when it comes to the super friends."

"It definitely would be a help having someone on the inside to help us learn of what happens to the criminals we turn over to them." I added as I soldered a wire to the microchip in the detection device I've been working on with Zara. "But honestly Alex I think you should give it a chance. You kicked ass when you were part of the DEO. And now you're just kicking ass as a hero. You might as well kick ass as a cop too. You aren't good at a lot of things but you are really super good at kicking ass. And with the Super Friends behind you there's no reason any case you're given should go unsolved. I shrugged looking up at Alex as she's just looking at me.

"I don't know if I should be mad for the subtle diss or thank you for the half compliment."

"Accept them both. Being I'm sleeping with your baby sister it's only right I'm sometimes mean to you while she's not around to do it."

"I don't like that but I can't be mad about it." I just smiled at her before I went back to working on my device. She is my future sister in-law so we might as well get used to it now. "So do you know what you and Kara are doing for Valentine's Day?"

"Ugh it's not a real holiday. I don't understand why it's so highly celebrated. It doesn't even earn a day off from work so it's a useless holiday if you ask me." I ranted looking at her.

"Then you made a big mistake in getting Kara to fall for you. That girl goes hard into every holiday. Even arbor day. She planted basically half a forest last year just to celebrate." When she said that I let out a groan because it's absolutely true.

"Hmm I know. I have never been made to wear an ugly Christmas sweater until I started to date her. Not only that but she insisted we decorate both mine and her apartment. We got two not one but two separate trees for our apartments. Then to make it as authentic as possible she drug me out to the middle of a forest where they had wild Firs and she cut them down herself. Alex when I tell you I almost got attacked by an angry squirrel." As I said that Alex just laughed. "It's not funny. I love that woman with my entire soul but sometimes I just want to lock her out."

"I honestly believe that. Kara is eccentric when it comes to celebrating things that revolve around being with family. But given her origin you can't blame her." Letting out a sigh I set down my soldering gun. I've been working on this all day. I need a break.

"I know and it makes me love her more and more every time. But if you must know I got her the.. most Kara gift I could gift to her."

"Oh god. You didn't get her a life size cutout of yourself did you?"

"What?! No what the hell?" I giggled because that was random.

"She never shuts up about you. It's been five fucking years and she still does nothing but eat. sleep, and breathe you so I just assumed."

"Oh nonsense. I'm with her more often than not. She'd no need for a fake version of me. No I got her something a little less complicated than that. She's always making me watch Disney movies with her. And the other day I was watching the news and saw that Disney on ice was coming to town next month so I got us rink side seats to one of the shows. This way she'll finally get to be up close and personal with Dory and I don't have to hopefully watch any movies that involve fairtales or talking animals for a couple days. Oh and I'm hoping that they'll have Mulan there because if I have to hear about the dark side of the moon and me being her girl worth fighting for again I'm gonna kill myself." When I finished Alex giggled.

"Yeah Mulan was one of the first movies I ever showed her when we were kids. And it sparked something in her because she watched it so many times the VCR tape got worn out. She cried every night until our parents got her a new one."

"Well unfortunately for me you can't max out streaming services. If she knows a song from a movie just know she has made me watch it at least more than three times over now."

"She's a Disney kid through and through. She might pee her pants when she finds out you got her front row seats to see her movies live in person."

"Well I considered getting us tickets to go to Disney World but I'm not sure I could handle the most likely back to back endless Disney movies, shows, and music leading up to the trip. Not only that I don't think I could handle the tears. You know we visited the Disney store in the mall and she had me in there for over an hour as she looked at everything and made sure to recite every line she knew of each character we came across."

"Ha. Yeah that's our Kara. A crime fighting badass Kryptonian by day and soft little baby by night. I'm just glad I don't have to suffer like that anymore."

"Well it's a burden I've chosen to bare. I'd buy the entire company if she wanted it. The songs are revolting but they make her happy so I just go with it. She's my favorite person and I want her to be happy."

"Good because if you didn't feel that way about her I'd have to kill you. And Kara signed off on it so I have the full go ahead."

"Never that. She has my heart I couldn't bare being without her. She's my best baby and I love her more than anything. There isn't anything or anyone I wouldn't sacrifice for her. You included."

"Respectfully."

"Have you decided on what you're going get for Kelly?"

"Got her a nice weekend stay up at the ski lodge she's been telling me about. Figured I'd take the hint and buy my way out easy this year."

"Reasonable enough. You should've told me beforehand. We have a house up in the mountains I would've gladly given you the keys."

"Noted."

"Lena?!" I heard call out in the familiar tone I've grown to love. "Petal? Where are you?" Then suddenly the most beautiful woman who came from the universe is standing in front of me. "Look!" And then she's shoving a foot long giant gummy worm in my face. "It's a gummy worm!! Jumbo size!" She grinned very happy she has the treat. And to follow that she took a bite out of it.

"You're truly something special babe." I spoke watching her chew with the biggest most satisfied grin.

"There was a shoot out near a candy store and they gave us candy as a thank you gift." Spoke Brainy as he came in eating a chocolate bar.

"Mmm got do a peanut are cup." Spoke Kara while chewing while holding out a Reese's cup towards me.

"Thank you sweetie." I smiled, taking it from her.

"Welcome." She grinned floating over the table to give me a kiss.

"Mmm don't you taste the sweetest?" I cooed smiling looking into my favorite baby blue eyes. She didn't say anything but keep chewing as she's smiling at me. "Ugh I hate how innocently attractive you are." I growled to myself as I went in for another kiss.

"You know at this point I'm really going to murder you both if y'all ever break up." Chimed J'onn as he came to be standing to the side of us.

"I think I've seen them kissing more times than I've ever been kissed in my lifetime." Sighed Nia as she came up and put her hand on his shoulder while shaking her head at us.

"Sounds like a personal problem." I shrugged earning me a sharp poke in the ribs by my girlfriend. "Kar?!"

"That sounds like a problem I can help." Spoke Brainy as he appeared next to Dreamer and began kissing her on the neck and cheek."

"Squiggy!?" She squealed basically crumbling in his arms with a giant blush.

"I'm just trying to help you out. I've about eight hundred and thirty three kisses to catch you up to them. Of course that's only the count for today?…" Brainy smirked looking at us.

"You'd need six lifetimes to match the number of times my mouth has been on her's!" Exclaimed Kara before kissing me again. "That's kiss number three trillion in total for this week and it's only Monday." When she said that she made sure to really say it with her chest. It's something about that supersuit that just takes her confidence levels and skyrockets them. And honestly I think it's so sexy. That's my super hero girlfriend.

"I could beat that easy. Infact it's probably not even an accurate count because I bet you speed did it and we all know school just wasn't your subject." He sassed letting go of Nia to get in Supergirl's face.

"Babe you've got an interesting group of friends." Spoke Kelly as she walked up to Alex and they shared a kiss.

"I know."

"Says the guy without a single college degree!" Sassed Supergirl as she puffed her chest.

"This is exactly why I think Family game night was the best thing for these weirdos. It's how I keep them from killing each other." Shrugged Alex nonchalantly watching as the two heroes argued over nothing once again.

"At least you two get to go home. I gotta deal with that." I added nodding to Kara who is currently using one hand to cover one ear and the other ear was covered with the gummy worm she's still holding.

"LALALALALALALALA!" Sang out Kara as Brainy is actively trying to pull her hands away from her ears while yelling whatever it is he's yelling.

"I'm sure you two relish in your peace and quiet at home." Spoke Nia pointing to them as Kara now has Brainy in a headlock.

"We sure do."

"I haven't known peace since I met Kara. The word quiet isn't real now that we basically live together. At this point Kara is my white noise. The only time she's quiet is when she's eating."

"Should we be bothered with how unbothered we are all about these two when they bicker?" Jonn asked coming over to us.

"At this point it's weird if they are getting along."

"We can take comfort in the fact that they won't ever kill each other and that's most important. So anyway what are we all feeling for dinner tonight? I was feeling like some boneless wings? Maybe some nachos?" Asked Dreamer going around the bickering pair and coming towards me. Now Brainy has Kara twisted up by her wrist. And Kara is using her other hand to swing the gummy worm at him.

"Hi friend!" I smiled up at her causing her to wrap her arms around my neck in a hug.

"Hai."

"I really want a burger. All those sweets have me hungry for something savory." Added Kelly.

"I dunno I'm not too hungry right now so I don't really know what good I am to this conversation." I explained looking at everyone.

"We always want your opinion Lena."

"Even if it really isn't helpful." Smiled Nia tightening her arms letting me know that was a diss. She then let me go and stood up straight. "Let's go to 130 Diner. It's got a good menu and it's bound to have something for everyone."

"A chicken parm sandwich does sound good."

"Chicken parm sandwiches?" Asked Kara randomly stopping what she was doing to face us.

"That does sound splendid." Added Brainy. That got every one to momentarily laugh. One because of how on cue Kara was hearing the mention of food. Second being Kara is floating mid air and is dangling Brainy beneath her by his feet. But the best part being she's still holding the gummy worm.

"We can go to 130! They have the best chicken parm sammies."

"We can go but I don't want chicken parm." When I said that Kara dropped Brainy and came over to me giving me a hug. She knows why I don't trust it.

"Awe baby you can get anything you want my precious baby. I'll buy you the entire menu and I'll eat the chicken parm so you don't have to." She then squeezed me and kissed my cheek. "My beautiful baby."

"Ok so then 130 it is!" Smiled Dreamer looking around for any debate but there was none.

"When we get there are you gonna sit next to me?" Asked Kara looking down at me with those big blueberry eyes. She even made sure to bring the worm into her chest to appear more innocent.

"Do I have a choice?"

"I mean you do. But I really want you to sit next to me. If you don't sit next to me, how am I supposed to eat?"

"You have your own set of hands you know." Interrupted Alex. At this point they've all seen that I like feeding Kara. It was weird at first but now it's just another weird thing they have to deal with being around us. We're all family and they just want us to be happy.. even if it's a little weird. "You can probably feed yourself if you really tried."

"Now Al, you know those two are basically the same person."

"Codependent I think is the word we're looking for." Spoke Jonn.

"No we aren't!" I sassed because they're being dramatic.

"I know. They're just jealous." It was here that I suddenly had to sneeze.

"Achoo!"

"Oh! Bless you baby." Kara then reached in front of me and grabbed a tissue. She then held it up to my nose. "Blow." Listening I blew my nose into the tissue.

"Thus proving my point that Kara and Lena can't do anything without the other." Chimed Alex.

"Shut up Alex! This is standard Zor-El protocol. It is very important that I love on my girlfriend several times a day." Once I finished blowing she took the tissue away to discard, not without looking at it first. "Oof babe we gotta stop by the drugstore before we go home. There's a little yellow in here but it's mostly clear."

"Well it's this stupid cold weather. It's like clockwork for me every year." I sighed because I have been feeling a little stuffy as of late.

"Luckily I have a killer chicken noodle soup recipe. And I'm an excellent nurse."

"No but seriously I love that you both are in love and can't sneeze without the other. But I really want to eat." Spoke Brainy as he came to stand at the table.

"Let's go then!" Kara flashed away then came back in her civilian clothes. "Should I call and make a reservation?"

"It's a diner Kar." Responded Nia as we all started moving around to get ready to go.

"I know but there's a lot of us and-"

"It's 130 Diner sis. We don't need a reservation."

"Back in college when I used to wait tables during the week we'd sometimes pray for random big tables to walk in. Means someone is getting a big tip." Smiled Kelly as she started to take off some of her gear.

"That's pretty hot. I didn't know you used to be a server." Smiled Alex putting an arm around her girlfriend.

"Oh yeah! I was regularly requested by my regulars all the time."

"I love that you both are in love but if y'all can get moving that'd be great." Urged my girlfriend pushing the pair away from the table.

"Oh hush!"

"I would but you two always take the longest to get changed." Sassed Kara.

"We also are two of the three members of the group who didn't have any magical abilities gifted to us at birth!" Alex fired back.

"Can you two just shut up and go get ready?!" Interrupted Jonn stepping between the two.

"This might be the headquarters where justice comes from but there is never peace inside it." Sighed Dreamer as she and Brainy began heading out to I assume go change as well.

"Cut it out or both of you will be stuck on desk duty." Warned Jonn. That however got Kara to stick her tongue out at Alex and for Alex to hit her.

"Owe!"

"You brat!"

"Hey?!! What'd I just say?! The both of you will stay here I mean it." One thing I adore about these three is that they're like two daughters and their father trying to keep them from killing each other. Kara told me about how they all worked at the DEO together before the Super Friends became super.

"Burger, come're. I wanna show you something." I spoke to help de-escalate the situation.

"Hurry and get changed I'm starving out here." Spoke my girlfriend before making her way next me me. As that happened the other three went their own ways to go get ready themselves.

"You're so combative today, babe. What's gotten into you?"

"I miss my gorgeous green eyed sexy scientist of a girlfriend. You haven't given me my daily evening kisses and I demand you give them to me." She spoke pulling a chair up and basically cuddling into my side.

"Now that's no way to ask for something, now is it Bug?" I asked putting my hand on her thigh reminding her that I'm the one in charge. "Do you want to try that again and ask correctly?"

"Can I have a kiss? Please Mistress?" Much better. To let her know I'm pleased with that I gave her thigh a squeeze.

"I gave you plenty of kisses today my love." She grabbed my hand and pulled it further up her thigh closer to her center. This morning I picked out a cute little skirt for her to wear. So right now apart from her pantyhose we're essentially skin to skin right now. And I have been teasing her all day since lunch.

"But I deserve more."

"Is that so?"

"Mhmm. Because I just had another night of saving the city. Now I'm ready to have the attention put solely on me." She nodded matter of factly.

"Wow I have created a monster."

"Yes you have. And you'd better give me what I want or I'm going to go feral." She nodded confidently making me smile and give her a kiss. "Baby girl demands more sustenance."

"You're such a weirdo."

"And you love me this way."

"I sure as fuck do." And then I began making out with her. Then like every time we make out, hands started to wonder. Then suddenly I'm in Kara's lap.

"You're soo hot babe. Mmm I love you so much." She

Murmured before kissing my collarbone.

"I love you too Kar." I purred feeling up her biceps. When I said that she stopped and looked at me. "Heheh what?!" I giggled awkwardly.

"I love hearing you say that. It sounds so sweet coming from the lips of an angel."

"I'm definitely no angel."

"To me you are. You're Rao's gift to humanity." Hearing that I couldn't stop the blush. She's such a charmer and I hate it. But I'd be lying if I said I wished she'd stop.

"Shut up you loser." I sassed playfully hitting her.

"Never!" And then she's nibbling on my neck.

"AWE GUYS COME ON!! UGH!! THEY'RE HAVING SEX OUT HERE AGAIN!" Yelled out Nia as she came in and just as quickly left.

"No we aren't! We're just working on our bond." Sassed Kara as Nia poked her head in.

"We would've had you not walked in." I smirked unstraddling my girlfriend's lap and opting to just sit across her lap normally.

"Cheese and rice! You two are about to be banned from being in the tower together. I'm now regretting getting you guys that air fryer for Christmas. Should've got you both chastity belts and purity rings." That got us both to laugh as I wrapped my arm around Kara's neck.

"I'm an evil scientist I would just tinker our belts to become long distance remote controlled vibrators. If anything you would've just gifted us a new way to be intimate without having to be together." That only earned me a disgusted face.

"Rabbits. Horny slutty rabbits. That's what you two are. I have no doubt that as long as you two are around humanoid creatures will never go extinct because you'll repopulate in no time."

"I fully plan to let Lena fill me up with her little Luthor swimmers. And we'll create our own little band called Lana. I'll be the lead singer, Le is gonna sing back up, and the kids are gonna play the instruments. Then we're gonna go worldwide and sell billions of records." Chimed Kara very confidently.

"That's a new one." She's never told me about this fantasy.

"Yeah. I was watching a movie about The Jackson 5 at work today."

"Ahh I see."

"I love you both but you make me wanna gouge my eyes out."

"We love you too!" After that everyone was ready to go, and we headed out. There we all sat together with Kara to my right. It was fun because I made good use of nobody paying attention to what's going on underneath the table. I made it my personal goal to get my hand as close to my girl's center without touching her. She hated every second of it. But with the way she pinned me to the door the moment we got home, you'd never know that.

A week later

"It is almost ten pm and my girlfriend is very late for dinner. Kara told me she'd be working late tonight but would be home by eight. I ordered us some take out that is basically cold by now. I've been ringing her phone for the past hour and she's not answering. It's going straight to voicemail. So I was hoping maybe she's with you? Alex please tell me she's with you." I asked.

"No. Sorry Lena I haven't spoken to her since yesterday."

"Ugh ok. I'm gonna try her work phone again. Maybe she just fell asleep at her desk or something." I sighed. I'm aweful worried about her right now. I hope nothing terrible happened.

"Do you want me to get the gang together and look for her? She's my sister so I'm just as worried now."

"No I'm going to give it another hour before we get to that. She's not in her supersuit so I don't think anyone snatched her. And she isn't working on any hard hitting scandals at work so she must be off doing something she shouldn't be and lost track of time." Any scenario that doesn't involve my girlfriend being in harm's way is a good idea right now.

"Okay. Well I'm gonna call around and see if anyone else has seen her."

"Alright. Thank you Alex. I love her and I'd die if anything were to happen to her."

"I know. We're in the same boat. I'll call you back if I hear anything. And you call me if she shows up."

"I will. Thank you. Bye."

"Bye." And then I hung up the phone.

"Please let her be okay." I murmured to myself going to the window and looking down at the street below. It's pouring rain outside right now. It's a thunderstorm out there and my girlfriend is completely M.I.A. I know she has superpowers but I'm still worried. The one time I take her bracelet off her to maintenance it she just goes missing. Her phone is off so I'm assuming it died or she left it somewhere. Oh I hope this isn't the start of someone's crazy scheme to take over the city. If it is that's really a power move taking- Before I could finish that thought I heard keys entering then lock. Kara is the only other person I know besides me and the landlord who has a key to her apartment. Naturally I ran to open the door. "Kara!?"

"Sorry I'm late bu-" I instantly wrapped my arms around her.

"Where have you been?! I've been so worried for the past two hours. Don't scare me like that ever again." I warned squeezing her.

"Arf!" And that's when I noticed my girlfriend is completely soaked from head to toe.

"Was that you?" I asked pulling away to get a good look at my girl.

"Yes but no." Kara then reached in the front pouch of her windbreaker and pulled out a puppy. Just a tiny little white ball of fluff. "This is why I was late getting home."

"Oh my." I have no words right now. Kara simply walked in and turned to face me. I closed the door and locked it.

"I'm not gonna keep him. It's just I was walking home then it started to pour. So I ran into this alley that had a fire escape so I could keep dry long enough to call you to come pick me up so I wouldn't get wet. But then I started to hear this little guy awooing. So naturally I went searching for the source. Then that's when I saw him tied up to a pipe and stuck under a milk crate."

"Woof!" Cooed the dog wiggling around in her arms.

"I know buddy. Some monster just left you for dead out there. He was cold wet and very hungry looking. I couldn't leave him there so I decided I'd take him and bring him to the nearest animal shelter. Then I spent a while looking up shelters nearby all of which were closed or closing. The closest one that was still open was halfway across the city. I figured I could just run there in no time. He's a baby and you know how sensitive they are so I figured if I go half speed he'd be okay. So we started running but that made the little guy throw up and it hurt my heart because I don't think he had anything in his belly so he was just dry heaving and throwing up bile. Made me cry watching him do that. So I decided to just abandon the shelter idea and just get him some food and take him home. Then I'd deal with it tomorrow before I go to work. So I decided to walk as fast as I could to the nearest store and buy him some food." Kara then snuggled the little guy and kissed him on the head. "Awe poor baby scarfed down two of those cute little wet dog food things. Then he crawled into my lap and started to go to sleep. But we were only sat outside this random corner store that had an awning above the door. Plus the rain was only getting heavier and I knew we had to get home. By this point my phone was dead. Used the last of the cash I had to get him food. So I had no way of paying for anything else and thus began my long walk home. Probably been walking for the past half hour. And now here we are. Cold, wet, extremely exhausted, but alive and safe." All I could do was stare at this adorable kryptonian and cute little critter in her arms. Hearing that story I fell in love with her all over again. There are just a bunch of hearts floating around her I just fell so deep in love with her again.

"I don't think I've ever loved you so much than I do in this moment." She just smiled and gave me a kiss. While we were kissing the puppy essentially jumped onto me. "Woah!"

"Awe see babe. Even this dog thinks you're beautiful." Holding him I couldn't help but smile. He's a tiny little thing. Even soaking wet he's so light.

"He is very adorable. Little thing can barely be more than three months old, four max. He's barely five pounds." Kara then came closer and started to pet him.

"I know and somebody just left him tied up in an alley. No collar, no note. Nothing. Humans are the absolute worst sometimes."

"That's what I've been trying to tell you. But for now you need to get out of these wet clothes before you get sick. And this guy needs a bath pronto. He's cute but he's stinky and could have fleas."

"So you're okay if he stays with us till tomorrow? Or you know till we can find a good home for him?" She asked with puppy eyes. Then as if they practiced it the puppy started to lick my arm.

"It's your apartment you can keep any animal you like." She gave me a giant smile before I got a kiss.

"Technically this is our apartment. You basically live here too." She then took the doggy from me and gave me another kiss. "We love you."

"I love you both too."

"Great! His name is Coconut because the dirt on his white fur kinda makes him look like a coconut."

"Oh Rao!" I sighed because now there is no way she's gonna give him up. Before I could say another word the two were off towards the bedroom. I'm so happy Kara is my lover. She has a soul that must be protected at all times. And in this moment I dedicate my life to protecting her. Life on Earth is wonderful now that she's here in my world. While they're doing their thing I decided to reheat our dinner. I got us our regular from our favorite Chinese food place. I get the pork lo mein. Then for Kara she likes the sweet and sour chicken platter, the beef and broccoli, and we must have two orders of fried dumplings. Sometimes three if Kara doesn't want both of her usuals. It's a lot of food but she manages it all down every time.

"Babe do we have a spare brush or comb anywhere? I wanna try and get some of these mats out of Coco's fur without cutting it." Asked my girlfriend in just shorts and a bra while cradling Coconut in her arms who's swaddled in a towel. If this is what I have to look forward to I'm definitely down. She's going to be a great mother.

"Umm check under the sink. Or maybe at the bottom of the hair box."

"Okay. Ooh are those potstickers I see?"

"You know it. Come're." I then picked one up and held it out to her. She did not hesitate coming over.

"Can Cokey have a bite too?"

"Cokey?"

"I'm still trying to find a good nickname for him."

"You sure that's a good idea?" She claimed she's gonna give him up but at this point I doubt it.

"Yeah. He deserves to be treated equally."Kara then ate the potsticker out my hand.

"I guess." I then picked a small piece of broccoli out the dish and held it out to him. He sniffed it. Then he licked it. Sniffed it again before he decided it was safe to eat. "Good boy." I smiled petting him.

"He's the goodest boy!" She then gave me a kiss on my temple before wandering back into the bedroom. I took this time to set up the table so we can eat dinner and get on with our night. "Babe look it!" And then I heard little footsteps come towards me and Coconut is wearing a bracelet that has the Zor-El house crest on it around his neck.

"Awoo!"

"My new sidekick! Super Good Boy!" And then she appeared in her Supergirl tshirt. "Cute boy by day, crime fighter by night."

"Oh my Rao. We're keeping him huh?" I sighed because now there's no way she'll let him go now. She didn't say anything but come up to me and give me a kiss.

"What if someone accidentally lost him then someone found him and just tied him up?"

"Then we can just drop him off at the shelter tomorrow and let them find out. I'm sure if he is missing the owners are probably checking in there frequently and they will take him home."

"What if nobody comes for him?"

"He's still a puppy somebody will adopt him."

"Woof! Grr!!" Looking over to him he's growling at one of the plants.

"Awe bubby it's just a plant."

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

"Oh I hope he grows into a better bark. Right now he's not scaring anybody." I giggled because his bark is very high pitched.

"It's cute. Come're buddy. Here Coconut." She cooed. "Coconut Come're buddy." He stopped barking and is looking at us. "Yeah! That's you. You're Coconut."

"Come to mommy Coconut." I smiled squatting down to his level. That was all he needed to come running right into my arms. I'm not sure if he understood anything besides he knows when I get down to his level I'll pick him up.

"Mommy?" Asked Kara with hearts in her eyes.

"I just wanted him to come to me." I shrugged petting the little guy as I stood up.

"Sure thing momma." She winked making me glare at her. "Anyway I'm hungry, can we have dinner now? Coconut got to eat while I was forced to watch and I must have something to eat or I'll die."

"Yeah let's eat." I then sat down on my side of the table and Kara took the chair next to me. I sat Coconut in my lap. "You didn't happen to get him any toys did you?"

"No. I was more worried about filling his little belly." As she said that he began nibbling on my fingers.

"Owe! Hey buddy quit it. You'll get your share."

"I have an extra doggy food. Maybe he's hungry again."

"Did he go potty before you brought him inside?"

"Well he peed in the bathroom but he didn't go number two."

"So then by the time we finish eating we gotta take him out to go potty before bed."

"Okay. Look at us. Already setting up a schedule for our child."

"We're not keeping him Kara. I just don't want to wake up and step in poo in the morning."

"But look at him. He loves you. He's basically sleeping in your arms." Looking down at him. He's curled up laying in my lap. Awe my heart is melting for him right now.

"We'll talk about it tomorrow. Let's just eat and get to bed."

"Okay." From there we ate dinner together every now and then we'd stop to feed Coconut a little piece of food. He clearly doesn't have a pleasant past but I like to think we can give him a beautiful future. After we finished eating we cleaned up and took little man for a walk. We didn't have a proper leash his size so we ended up using the bracelet around his neck and one of our play leashes to take him out. He's so young he didn't quite understand being on a leash but he enjoyed being outside even though it was raining. Little cutie made it his point to roll around in the wet grass. Completely voiding the bath he had earlier. As annoying as it was, we couldn't be mad at him. He's too cute to stay mad at. Eventually he did his business and we went back inside. There we played a little more before he started to fall asleep and Kara began to yawn. "Alright Coco. This is where your bed is. You get to sleep right here next to mini momma and mini mommy." Cooed Kara as I watched her set him down in the corner of our bedroom on the blanket bed we made for him; inside the makeshift pen we made him out of heavy books. She insisted on using the two stuffies I got her on our first date.

"Good night handsome." I spoke watching the two.

"Handsome indeed. But you get some rest and tomorrow we will play some more." Kara then kissed him on the head and then came over and got in bed. "Is this our life now?"

"One day in the future, yeah. Probably, only maybe there will be more than one head to kiss good night."

"More than one head aye?" She asked moving in closer to me and wrapping me up in her arms. Naturally I cozied up in her grasp. It's my safe space. I know for sure that whenever I'm inside these strong arms nothing can hurt me. I know Kara will keep me safe. She always has and mostly likely always will.

"Yeah. You're gonna give me two adorable blue eyed half kryptonian half human babes right?"

"Only if you give me two green eyed, ridiculously smart babies. Preferably twins. Fraternal if possible. You're really smart so I'm sure you'll find a way to play with the DNA and make it happen for me."

"Woof! Grrr! Grrr!" And that was accompanied by the sound of thrashing.

"Hmm well it appears Coconut might be Krytptonian. He's attacking the Luthor teddy. The wrong Luthor but he'll figure it out for himself." Watching him, he's biting on the leg of my bear counterpart.

"Should we take them from him? Incase he shreds it?"

"Nah. He was left for dead. Let him take out his anger."

"You're cleaning it up if he does."

"That's fine." Then from there we sat up watching him. Just making sure he settles himself before we went to bed. We slept somewhat soundly through the night. Kara and I subconsciously woke up from time to time just to check on Coconut. But every time he was cuddled up between the two bears. Paws up and snoring each time.

The next morning

"He's fine. I got Jess to run out and get him some proper toys and a bed. Look it." I then flipped my phone camera to show Kara Coconut. Right now he's very busy chewing on a rubber teething bone.

"Awe he's so precious!" Cooed Kara very visibly gushing over him.

"I know. Even got him a little collar. It's yellow."

"They didn't have any brown ones?" It was here I flipped the camera back to me.

"Ew no. He's cuter in yellow."

"But it makes sense being his name is Coconut."

"Well I brought it so I got to decide."

"You do know I can easily just go buy one for him myself right?"

"You could but it'd go missing."

"So rude."

"You love it though."

"Yeah. Anyway I managed to get him an appointment on Thursday. I told them about how I found him in an alley and that I didn't know if he had his shots or not. But they said we should just bring him anyway and they'll be able to see if he's chipped. That way it'll give them some information about where he came from. They also told me that we should get him a flea and tick shampoo just in case. I didn't see any when I gave him a bath but it's better safe than sorry."

"We can pick it up on the way home."

"Okay. And we gotta get him a DNA test so we can know what breed he is. Might help in finding his owner or new home."

"He looks like every generic little white dog." I shrugged looking at him as he is now throwing the bone around and attacking it.

"Yeah now he does. Then six months from now he's a fricking wolf."

"Well at that point it wouldn't really be our problem I imagine."

"Yeah that's true I guess. I just really want him to get the best quality of life possible. He deserves it."

"He will. If you ask me he already has it. You saved him from dying cold and alone and that's the first step in the right direction. Now he's terrorizing a bone that must owe him treats."

"Yeah that's true. But there's no guarantee he'll go to a great home. I just want to be super duper extra sure he gets accepted into the right family." She has barely known this dog for twenty-four hours and she's obsessed with him. It's so damn cute how much she loves animals. But I've always known that. She won't even kill a spider that comes into our living room. She always traps it and sets it outside despite my pleas to kill it. She's got a diamond heart and it shows every time she talks about Coconut. She's not convincing me to try to keep him but it's working. Kara is my forever home and I'm not too opposed to coming home to Coconut as well. But I don't want to get too attached because he might have a family who's looking for him.

"I know, sugar. Let's just get him examined by the vet and we will talk about it later."

"Alright. Well I'm gonna get back to work. I just wanted to check in and see how you two were getting along."

"We're doing ok so far. We just ate so I'm going to take him outside soon. See if he has to potty."

"Alright well keep me updated on anything cute he does."

"I will. Bye gorgeous. Coconut Come're! Come say bye to momma!" I called out getting him to drop his bone and look at me. "Yeah handsome! Come're." He got it and picked up his bone then ran over to me. There I picked him up so we're both in frame.

"Awe! I can't! My heart!"

"Say have fun at work momma!" I cooed putting Coco in the camera. It was here for some reason he decided to drop his bone on my desk.

"I will. You be good okay. If you're good we'll play lots when we get home. And I'll give you belly rubs." He must've liked that idea and decided to nibble on my hand.

"Owe! Yup okay. Here you go." I then gave him his bone back and sat him back down on the floor. He was fine with that and started playing with his bone again.

"He's just a baby. He just is getting used to his teeths."

"He's lucky he's cute or else-"

"Or else nothing because you'd never harm an innocent animal."

"I dunno if it pressed the right buttons."

"Stop it. You're too mushy to do that."

"Tell anyone and I'll pump you so full of kryptonite you'll explode." That got my girlfriend to laugh. As that was happening my desk phone rang signaling a call from the front desk. "I mean it you. Hold on, I gotta take this." I then picked up the phone. "Lena Luthor."

"Hi Miss. Luthor, your one-thirty appointment is here." Looking at my desk calendar it appears I do have a meeting today.

"With a Helen Gunther right?"

"Yes."

"Okay. Send them up."

"Will do." With that I hung up.

"Alright Bear. I have to let you go. Got a meeting I gotta do."

"Okay. Call me when you finish?"

"I'll consider it." I smirked because I know that's not what she wanted to hear.

"You said Coconut is sleeping on your side of the bed because you'll be sleeping on the couch tonight?"

"You do know I still have my own bed in my own apartment right?"

"You can sleep there but it'll be a restless night for you without us."

"I'll just have some scotch before bed. I'll be out like a light all night."

"Can you stop!"

"I'm kidding, princess. I just love messing with you."

"Well I don't like it. I demand you stop being so mean to me at once."

"What are you queen now or something?"

"You just called me princess so I fully expect you to treat me like one."

"I treat you like royalty all the time."

"No you don't."

"Well I'm your girlfriend. I have to give you a hard time."

"That's an optional side quest."

"Well would you rather I annoy someone else? I'm sure there are plenty of other fem-"

"Another word and you'll be single. Try me."

"Okay and good luck trying to see Coconut ever again."

"You wouldn't dare!"

"His dog tags says return to Lena Luthor if lost."

"That's fucked up. Here you go again being mean to me."

"I love you Kara. I'll call you back when I get time, okay?"

"I don't think I'll answer."

"Yes you will. You're gonna want to know how Coco is doing. Right now he's just sitting staring out the window holding his bone and it's really cute. And I bet you're just dying for a picture of him." She didn't say anything but just look at me.

*Knock Knock Knock*

"Ooh looks like my meeting is here. Alright Kitten, you make sure you answer when I call okay." I spoke standing up.

"Woof! Woof!" Barked Coconut running to the door.

"Ok. I love you."

"I love you too, cutie. I'll talk to you. Bye."

"Bye." With that I blew her a kiss before I hung up.

"Woof! Woof! Woof!"

"Coconut no! Silence! Stop that." I scolded going to the door and picking him up. "You be good. Mommy has to work right now so I need you to be on your best most cutest gentleman behavior." He just started to lick my arm. "Kay good talk." I then opened the door. "Hello. Sorry about him my-" I lost any train of thought once I got a good look at the woman standing before me.

"Guten Tag. I hope I wasn't interrupting." Wow she has a very thick accent. She's clearly of Germanic origins. She stands about five foot eight and has golden blonde hair. Her eyes are a very light sky blue that are very hard to miss. If I didn't know any better I'd even go out on a limb and say Kara and her could be twin sisters. Of course my Kara is way more muscular and has the cutest face. But if she were to show up and say she was a long lost sister I'd kinda believe it.

"No. No it's just my girlfriend and I are fostering this little guy. Found him abandoned in an alley last night. And neither of us wanted to leave him home alone for an entire day. I have the bigger office so he got to come with me to work today." I explained looking at her. I found her outfit rather.. interesting I guess you could say. She's wearing what looks to be a female military uniform back during World War II. She even completed it with the skirt and curled bun to go with it. The entire suit itself is this dreadful navy blue color. There aren't any pins or badges on it so I imagine she just has terrible taste in clothing. But judging by her accent maybe she was raised on a farm and that's just what she knows. I dunno I'm not one to judge on looks.

"Ah it is a cute hound. Helen Van Gunther head commander of A.R.G.U.S." As she said that she straightened her back, held up her chin, paralleled her feet, and stuck out her hand for a shake. Okay so now I'm thoroughly convinced she is part of some sort of military force. When she did that Coconut let out a small whimper and growled a little bit. Alright this is a lot but again I've met weirder people. So I did as any businesswoman would and I shook her hand. Immediately I noticed how strong and firm her hand is. Yup definitely military.

"Lena Luthor but I'm sure you knew that. And this little guy is Coconut. Uh come in sit. Make yourself comfortable. I'm just gonna put him away." I spoke moving to the side allowing her into my office. She came in and very noticeably began looking around clearly surveying my office.

"This is very spacious. Impressive a woman was able to achieve such high status." Part of me is saying don't close the door but the businesswoman part of me says to close it. We have metal detectors and x-ray machines at the entrance of the building. They were in perfect working order this morning when I came in so I reckon they did their job and would've found any concealed weapons she may have that could hurt me. I don't see her as a threat and if anything happens I have both my panic buttons. That being said I closed the door to my office.

"Well I didn't ask for it. I was forced into it. Now I'm stuck having to pay the price for my family's wrong doing. However one good deed at a time and ideally by the time I hopefully get to retire, the Luthor name will be known more for the good I did versus the evil my delinquent brother did." I explained as I walked over to where my coffee table is. There I went to put Coconut into the cage I got for him. It's a medium sized cage. Being he's a puppy he looks so tiny in it. However I don't know how big he's gonna get so I figured to get a decent sized one and hopefully he'll grow into it. "In you go buddy."

"Awooo!"

"I hope so. Your good deeds is exactly what brings me before you today."

"Be good Coco and mommy will take you to go play outside." I then grabbed a few of the toys he has scattered nearby and put them in the cage with him. Blowing him a kiss I stood up and turned my attention back to my guest. "Ah well hopefully you mean that as a good thing." I smiled walking over to her. She's looking at the WWII picture I have hanging up on my wall. So I moved to stand next to her. "You know the saying a pictures worth a thousand words?" She simply looked at me. "Well this one is worth thousands of dollars. Me and my girlfriend were thrift shopping about a month ago and we found this rummaging around. Turns out this picture was taken in Denmark on June eleventh, nineteen forty-three."

"Was it now?" She asked stepping closer to it, inspecting it."

"Mhmm. I looked into it and I had it looked at by every Holocaust and World War II expert I could contact. They all said about the same thing. Apparently this was taken at a small secret German base in Demark. Then one night The Allies surprise ambushed the camp and eliminated, or captured any soldier on base. However this German pilot managed to evade the enemies and escape towards the planes, then attempted and did manage to take off. However he didn't expect them to have reinforcements in the sky incase the ground attack didn't go as planned. So once they got word he was in flight, those five guys were right there to shoot him down. Smart guy ejected before the plane hit the ground and he was forced to surrender within minutes of his parachute deploying. This was a small victory but it helped begin the chain reaction that eventually drove the Nazi party out of Denmark." I explained because it truly is fascinating what secrets one photo holds.

"You said this was in June?"

"Mhm. Nineteen forty-three. Exactly two years before the Nazi's surrendered. Thus ending the war completely."

"The Nazi's surrendered?!" She asked, sounding very shocked. I'm gonna take that as sarcasm.

"Haha yeah. They had little Dolfie shaking in his boots so bad he offed himself. And thus ending a very unethical horrific moment in time for the world." I shrugged going to sit down at my desk. "Anyway enough about history. Let's get to what you came here for." I suggest wanting to get on with this meeting. She stood there for another moment looking at the picture before sitting down. "So can you tell me more about, A.R.G.U.S. was it?"

"Ah yes. It stands for the American Research Group Uniting Superhumans. Basically we are a task force that has been around for a very very long time. My oldest predecessor dates back to the civil war. And it's been an ever changing and advancing force since."

"Hmm interesting. But I do have to let you know L-Corp has a very strict policy against creating any weapons of mass destruction for military parties. In the past we were all for it but now that I'm in charge I'll have none of that."

"Well good thing I'm here to see about you possibly coming to our compound and just looking over our projects. I've a team of scientists so I'm not looking for you to build or create anything. Just oversee what they're doing. Give them tips or advice. I want you to be my lead senior scientist. Plus I heard you work with aliens and I want to pick your brain about them. I've this pesky one I can't seem to get rid of no matter how hard I try. Well she's more mythical if anything and I assume you'd be more of a help for me than any other person in this time and era."

"Well that was a lot to take in. But I'm mostly confused on the uniting superhumans part of this all. You do realize I'm not a superhuman right?"

"With what my scouts and researchers have told me your mind is almost that of a superhuman and that's good enough for me." I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle.

"I'm flattered, but I simply make simple household items and lab equipment. I fear I'd have nothing to offer you." I shrugged because her sales pitch just didn't hit for me. I'm not really too interested in helping out another organization when I can barely manage my own.

"I have to disagree. I've seen what you can do when backed into a corner and I must say I was very impressed. It was the particle disperser to be more specific. You managed to create a gadget the size of a tissue box that dispersed trillions of mini particles into the air all to rid this earth of certian aliens."

"It wasn't just me I had help from a colleague."

"Yes, Winn. We looked into him as well but we both know you did most of the technical work for it. He just made the design. I don't need any more men controlling my experiments. They all seem to think the same, but you. I believe you'd be a good addition to my reich. We could be an unstoppable duo. Just us in the shadows helping protect the human race."

"Well I suppose I have to get better security because I'm sure I would've noticed if I were being surveillanced that night."

"Well I'm very good at disguising myself when need be. I actually was there the night you did that. It was yesterday actually when I saw it but you weren't at your peak knowledge then. Then again that day for me was like years ago for you probably. So I had to do a lot of skimming to get here." That completely threw me for a loop because now I'm starting to think my first impression on her is totally and completely wrong. Hell is her name even Helen?

"I'm sorry what? What are you telling me right now?" She let out this almost maniacal laugh but it sounded genuine at the same time.

"There is so much you've to learn about A.R.G.U.S. I have answers for your questions but you just don't have the qualifications to hear them.. yet. I'm willing to bet you didn't expect to be thrown off by my outfit the way it clearly has now huh? Am I from the past? Am I from the future? Or am I just some escapee from Arkham last week? You'll never know for sure. But that's the beauty of my craft. It's the beauty of A.R.G.U.S and you could be a part of history if you want." She then reached into her purse and pulled out a business card. "Use this to reach me if you change your mind." She then stood up and held the card out towards me. Naturally I took it. "Thank you for your hospitality. Is it alright if I let my hair down before I go?"

"Go for it." I'm way too confused right now. I'm still trying to process how it is she was there that night at my event three years ago. I'm almost positive I would've noticed a blonde with brilliant eyes like hers.. then again I was too busy trying to catch Kara and Supergirl's attention there is a chance I didn't even see her. I then watched as she took the clip out of her bun letting her blonde hair down. It fell down to perfectly frame her face stopping just below her chin.

"I must go report back to my team. I truly hope to hear from you soon. I'm not afraid of confrontation. I will come back if need be." She then proceeded to unbutton her jacket to reveal a white blouse. It caught me off guard because it has a very deep v-cut in the front showing off her apparently ample chest. And then it was sleeveless so her arms are on display and I stand corrected. She very much is in shape and I can tell she lifts. Maybe her and Kara really could be twins. Oh god!! Please don't let this be Lex trying to trick me with a German version of my girlfriend. The Russian one was hard enough I can't handle another one. "I was sweating in this thing for no reason. They told me you liked proper girls. Little did I know you would've been just fine with this outfit, based on how you're looking at me now. Haha no worries that can easily be cured. I will show myself out. Guten Tag Mrs. Luther." And before I could utter another word or complete a thought she was gone. Out the same way she came in. Talk about a mind fuck!

"Yup. That'll do it. I'm done for today." I spoke to myself out loud. It was also here that I got a chance to proper look at the card she handed me. Only to realize it's not a card at all. It's just a picture of an eagle with its wings spread, and in its talons it has a circle pendant with a plus symbol in the middle of it. No name. No number or address. Just a stupid eagle. Yeah thank goodness that was the last meeting of the day.

"Awoo!"

"Coconut please tell me you understood what just happened because I sure as hell don't." I asked looking at him.

"Woof! Woof!"

"Just another weirdo I suppose man." I then got up and went over to him. He quickly figured out what was happening and started to get excited.

"Woof!" Opening his cage he wasted no time coming out and jumping on my leg.

"Hey buddy!"

"Awoo! Woof! Woof!" I just bent over and picked him up.

"And as you saw that right there is what mommy does for a living. She deals with crazy stuff every day as if your momma wasn't enough to handle." He didn't say anything but he did start to nibble on my thumb. "Glad you agree bud. Anyway let's call momma back and tell her about what happened because that was crazy."

Later that day Kara's POV

"No I think he likes this one."

"He definitely likes the doughnut better." I replied showing Coconut the doughnut squeak toy. He took it and immediately started to play with it.

"That's not fair. He only cared about that one because you showed it to him. Here Coconut." Lena then took the doughnut from him and handed him the squeaky toy shaped like a crab. He took that one and immediately started to play with it. "See. He likes this one better."

"Yeah because you ripped the other one out his mouth."

"He could've tried to get it back. But he didn't."

"Because you stood up with it and he couldn't reach it!"

"He could've tried to reach for it. But he didn't "

"bUT hE dIdN't!" I mocked because she's annoying. But I still love her. Once I got off work I sped over and picked up my girlfriend and foster child. I waited all day longing to see them again. So I was delighted to pull up to L-Corp to see them waiting for me in the lobby. I thought it was adorable because Lena had Coconut on a leash and he was making it his point to sniff everything and everyone in the lobby. Then in a random pile was a dog cage full of different dog toys, a dog bed, and food. Then after I loaded the two into my car we headed to the pet store so we could get him proper dog safe shampoo and conditioner. But like the two dotting animal foster parents we are, we decided the four toys he has isn't enough. No he needs atleast three more.

"Don't be mad because he doesn't like your stupid doughnut." And then she tossed the toy at me. To which I caught and put it in the cart.

"I'll have you know doughnuts are not stupid!"

"Grr." Looking down at Coconut he's very aggressively attacking this random skunk toy he must've pulled from the bottom shelf. It was adorable though because the skunk is twice his size right now.

"Ha! Looks like he hates your stupid crab toy too." I sassed because now we both lost this argument.

"Whatever." She then bent down and picked him up. "Coco this thing is as big as you are." She cooed petting him. He still has the toy in his mouth.

"I guess this is the toy he wants." I guess he must've agreed and chewed the toy making it make a crinkle noise. I then began to pet him.

"How about we just buy all of them and that way he has options."

"Fair enough. I don't think he'd disagree. Right Coconut? Can I have this so-" I began to try and pry the skunk from his mouth but it was meet with a low growl letting me know he's not letting it go. "Excuse me sir!" I then tried to take the toy again.

"GRRRRR!"

"You better let him be. I'm not gonna help you if he bites you."

"He wouldn't hurt me. I saved his life." I then went to try to take the toy. This time he must've had enough. He dropped the toy and tried to bite me. "Woah!"

"Looks like Skunky is more important." Lena smirked putting him down on the ground and he wasted no time picking up his skunk.

"He's a man of action. He did warn me. I deserved it."

"And that's the Luthor in him comming out. Protecting the ones he loves most."

"He tried to bite me!" My girlfriend giggled.

"Guess he loves me more than you." When she said that my first thought was to move closer to her and wrap an arm around her.

"Nobody loves you more than I do."

"Is that right now?" I smiled and gave her a soft kiss.

"Absolutely."

"Get a room you weirdos!" We heard yell out behind us. Turning to see who said it, surprisingly it's Roni.

"Hey! What are you doing here?" I smiled looking at her.

"Don't heckle me like that again, I almost started to cuss you out." Started my girlfriend as we naturally separated to both face her.

"Well Mr. Tot here wanted a new toy so we just got done picking one out." She then showed us a set of three play mice, I assume that's safe for an animal.

"Mr. Tot?"

"Oh yeah! Tator Tot, my beloved three legged runaway bandit pirate." As she said that she turned around to show us her backpack. But her backpack turned out to be a clear cat carrier. And inside was a grey cat with big blue eyes that indeed had only three legs.

"Woah! He's so handsome!" I spoke excitedly because I love all animals no matter the type.

"Wow I never would have guessed you were a cat mom."

"Woof! Woof! Woof!" Hearing that bark I knew immediately it was Coconut.

"Oh Fuck!" Spoke my girlfriend as we both began looking down for him. There we realized he managed to take his skunk toy and wonder all the way to the end of the aisle and is barking at a very much bigger and older dog. "No Coconut!" Scolded Lena going after him.

"Awe you guys have a puppy?!"

"No. Well yes but technically no. But yeah. Heh we found him last night. I was walking home and I found him abandoned underneath a milk crate. So I took him home, we cleaned him up and here he is." I spoke pointing down the aisle as Lena scooped him up and was talking to the owner of the other dog. It looks like some sort of husky labrador mix I'm not sure but it's definitely a big dog that would easily win the fight.

"He's got spunk just like you both, I bet it was fate you found him."

"He definitely is a very interesting boy. But we have a vet visit coming up for him. There hopefully we'll find out a little more about him and maybe locate his owner, granted he has one."

"I dunno if he was stuck under a milk crate I don't think he has an owner. Well I mean yesterday he didn't, but today he does."

"I get you're the alpha but you gotta know when to pick a fight buddy. Pixie would've creamed you." Spoke Lena looking down at Coconut who looks very proud of himself. "Blue, I think he has enough toys. This guy needs a leash asap. Good thing the other dog was on a leash and well trained."

"Woof!"

"You get an A plus for effort in my book little buddy." Spoke Roni giggling.

"He's definitely a Danvers for sure. No sane person would go up against a clearly bigger opponent knowing they probably won't win." Sassed Lena handing him to me as she threw the skunk toy in the cart.

"Hey! It's our job and duty to protect others. Besides you saw it, he scared that dog right off. He's just doing his job. And if you ask me, I think it was very noble of him to try. Takes a lot of courage."

"Roni, do you see what I now have to put up with? As if one nut job wasn't enough." Sassed my girlfriend looking at us. I just smiled at her while I held Coco up. He's just panting very unbothered right now. She loves us.

"A match made in heaven to me. I wish I had someone to put up with me and Tate's nonsense."

"You know what? I think I know the perfect solution." I spoke up because I know someone who is just as sensible as Lena.

"Oh I'd love to but I'm not a big fan of being in a throuple. Tried that once never again."

"What?!"

"Huh?"

"You are very attractive." Spoke Lena shrugging checking her out. I'd be mad but she's not wrong.

"Mhm mhm. And we know a female who I think you'll like very much." When I said that I looked at Lena letting her know she knows who I'm talking about.

"Mmm yeah. But she might be allergic to cats I dunno."

"Ugh fucking hell! What isn't she allergic to?"

"Her own body is allergic to her."

"Oof that's a deal breaker. The cat stays." Roni nodded patting the side of her backpack.

"Meow!"

"We've been practicing that for months now." She smiled nodding.

"Really?"

"No. That was just good timing on his part." She smirked making us all giggle a little. "I can't even get him to sleep in his own bed."

"Yeah I think Zar is gonna adore you." Nodded my girlfriend as she moved closer to me.

"Zar?"

"We've said too much."

"Can I atleast ask what she looks like?" Me and Lena locked eyes before looking back at Roni. "Is it bad I got a sinking feeling when you guys did that?"

"Yes but no. Then to answer the first question she's a blonde bombshell." I spoke simply. Anything to get my boss off my back and away from my girlfriend.

"Well naturally she's a brunette. Or well at least when I met her she had brown hair and everything matched."

"Oh really?"

"Yeah, kid you not. In a really weird fucked up situation she happens to be my ex from college. But that was years ago and then she fairly recently resurfaced and suddenly she's a blonde. You know what though she was asking me the other day if she should dye her hair like a honey brownish color."

"Like a 90s Jennifer Anderson?" Asked Roni.

"I don't.. I don't know who that is… But if that entices you then yes." Spoke my girlfriend slowly.

"Forgive her, she's a Luthor. They lived in the early eighteenth century during the late nineteenth century." I explained because I'm convinced before me she didn't even know what a tv was.

"Well in that case she was a smoking hot babe who was like a dirty blonde more brunette than blonde." Answered Roni.

"I'll have to look her up later."

"And what she means by look her up is she'll give you Jen's current phone number, address, mother's maiden name, the last time she visited a doctors office, the name of her cousin's sister's pet, what's in her medicine cabinet, and her preference of ice cream toppings." That earned me a pinch on the arm. "Owe! Hey?!"

"Kar aren't you supposed to be finding him a leash?"

"Well shit! What'd it say when you looked me up?" Asked Roni obviously catching on.

"I didn't."

"Oh bullshit! I looked you up after I first found out you were Kara's girlfriend. You're an October Scorpio just like me. I'm only five days after you. I know your nosey ass looked me up. And if it wasn't out of pure curiosity, then it was out of curiosity of who was flirting with you and your girlfriend. Or straight up who is the person who owns the bakery you both frequent." Lena didn't say anything but she did look between us both before letting out a sigh.

"L-Corp may or may not have provided your father's alleged business company with some advanced technology back in the day. Way before I took control that is anyway. But yeah I know you are part of a very large and powerful family up North in Minnesota."

"Touchè. I can't verify that for sure out loud, but it sounds about right to me." Nodded Roni.

"It's scary how she does that. However it's a gift because you can take comfort in knowing that the person you should meet is a straight shooter.. or well curved I suppose because she's a gay." I trailed off.

"Meow! Meoow!"

"Grrr."

"Hush Coco. We're trying to play Cupid." I warned softly to him but I guess they both heard me because they both reacted to it.

"Alright well I have no reason not to trust you two. Send her my way and I'll hit her with the old razzle dazzle."

"Exactly you'll do great." It was here an alarm went off.

"Ooh that's me." She then pulled her phone out of her pocket. "We gotta get going I've gotta get to practice."

"Practice?" I asked.

"She does Roller Derby. And she's quite good at it." Answered my Lena.

"I hope you at least subscribed to the channel."

"I honestly don't know if I did or not. I had people find that out for me."

"Wow you really are something. Kara you are a lucky lady." Roni then moved in and pet Coco on his head. "Coconut I hope I see you again and by that time I hope you find yourself a loving home… even though you were already found by one." When she said the last part she looked between me and Lena not very subtly giving us a hint. "Fun fact, I actually found Tate one morning on a jog about six or seven years ago. I lived in Minnesota then and he was by a dumpster meowing. His missing paw looked like it had been smashed or violently broken and he couldn't move so I had to do something or he'd definitely die. At first I didn't want to keep him, but I was in the process of courting my ex at that time and I figured I'd keep him to try and get some brownie points. But then as time went on he grew on me and now we are inseparable. He's my best friend and as you can see we travel together a lot. Not only that but he's got three legs and that always gets the ladies to stop and ask questions. He's the best wingman a lesbian could ask for. Sometimes fate puts crazy things in your life that seem crazy at first but eventually turn out to be the best thing to ever happen to you." She smiled, obviously telling the truth. "Anyway, will I see you three tomorrow morning? I got fresh blueberries today so I'm gonna be making lots of muffins, crepes, and scones."

"Ooh you had me at fresh blueberries." I smiled starting to drool because I can't wait for tomorrow morning so I can have a treat.

"I guess you will then."

"Awesome. Bye guys. Tate say goodbye." Roni then turned around and right on que he meowed. "Now that one we've really been working on."

"Wow you're such a dork!" Giggled my girlfriend as Roni smiled and winked at us before walking away from us. "You and her have the same dorky humor, Zara is going to love her. If she doesn't I'm gonna make a potion and they will wed."

"I agree. And she does sports and you know she likes her girls more on the beefy side."

"And how do you know that?

"Because-" I had to think twice about this answer. The real one is because sometimes she grabs my bicep when we're talking and it's happened enough times for me to notice. Mostly because she doesn't do it to anyone else.. But I can't tell my girlfriend that. "What sane lipstick lesbian doesn't want a strong gorgeous girlfriend? Take you for example. You're the beauty and I'm the braun. A perfect match. Plus I now come with this cutie patootie." I cooed playing with Coconut in my arms.

"Nice save Danvers." I smiled and gave her a kiss. Then from there we continued on our shopping. we might have went a little overboard buying him toys but he deserves the best quality of life. Plus as we went on I kept thinking about what Roni said about how she found Tater Tot. Maybe I found Coconut for a reason. Either way I love the way he makes us both smile while just being himself. I've been begging Lena to let us get a pet and now seems like the perfect opportunity. I dunno I don't want to get my hopes up about him before we find out if he has an owner or not.

The next morning

"Goodbye handsome. You be good okay?" I cooed petting Coconut being he's sitting on my girlfriend's lap hanging out the window.

"Do you wanna do lunch today darling?"

"Umm I dunno. I've got a lot of work on my plate today that I put off from yesterday."

"Well I told you to stop calling me every hour."

"I wanted to make sure Coconut was okay. I was worried." I pouted. It's true though, all I could think about was what the two of them were doing.

"I know. Well how about I set up a camera so you can see him. You have your tablet right?" Stopping petting Coco I looked into my satchel. I really had to dig in there because today I went a little overboard with the snacks. "Babe what's the point of having one work bag when you just stuff it full of food and basically nothing you need for work?"

"Because I'm not nice when I'm hungry."

"But you're always hungry."

"Exactly why I need my snacks. But yes I do have my tablet. It's right here." I spoke taking it out to show her.

"Okay I'll set up a live feed so you can watch what we're doing while you work."

"Alright that works for me. Let's just hope I brought the charger for it."

"Well you and Nia have the same one so ask her if you can borrow hers."

"Yes ma'am. Anyway are you gonna be with Zara tonight?"

"Well it is Thursday so we will see. She hasn't texted me or anything today yet."

"Well if you do let me know. I wanna cook us some dinner tonight. Have a little romantic candle lit dinner. And I was looking at different recipes that are safe for doggies to eat. So this way the three of us can eat together." I figure in the time we get to look after Coconut we might as well spoil him rotten before he inevitably finds his forever home.

"You're such a little weirdo. But that does sound nice. And I do want to get lucky tonight." When she finished that she winked at me letting me know to give her a kiss. "Mmm you're so sexy." She purred softly before pulling me back in for a kiss. Yeah for some reason she's been rather clingy this morning. I'm not questioning it. I'm just relishing in it.

"Thank you. It must be my new motherly glow." I smiled earning me more kisses.

"Please have lunch with me today." She pouted batting those big beautiful green eyes at me. Oof she's so hard to say no to. It was also here Coconut started to move around pawing at my girl trying to get our attention. "Sorry. Us! Come have lunch with us." She then began to pet him as he's leaning out the window sniffing me.

"Sorry bubba I don't have anything for you right now." I cooed, showing him my hands. He's only been with us for two days but he quickly picked up on my eating habits and he knows to come to me for food.

"He probably still smells the doughnut and muffin you had." We stopped by Roni's on our way in. And like she advertised there were plenty of blueberry flavored treats.

"Mm that was so good." I smiled reminiscing.

"I know. You really love it there huh?" She cooed as she licked her thumb and proceeded to wipe I assume icing or lipgloss from the corner of my lips.

"I'd live there if they let me."

"Absolutely not. You come home to us now every night." When she said that she was smiling at me and Coconut was busy looking around sniffing out the window. She's right. I don't want to be any place else but with these two. Maybe we should keep Coco. Like Roni said things are usually put in your path for a reason sometimes way before you even realize why. Maybe me finding Coconut is a sign I just can't see yet.

"Yes ma'am." And then I kissed her one last time. "Alright I'd better get inside so I can get a jump on my work if I'm going to meet you both for lunch."

"Okay. Coconut say bye to mommy and that we'll see her later." She cooed petting him.

"Bye beautiful. By Coconut." I then pat the dog and gave the woman a kiss. "I'll call you okay?"

"We'll be sitting by the phone waiting."

"I love you Lena." I then gave my girlfriend a kiss. "And I love you too little guy. Be good for your mother and I'll take you on a walk later."

"Am I allowed to go on this supposed walk?"

"No." I spoke blanky staring at her.

"Hmm you've pressed an incorrect key. Do you wanna hang up and call again?" I just smiled and gave her a kiss.

"I know you love going places with me and that you'd never let me go anywhere without you. Bye baby." And with that I gave her one last kiss before I turned and went into the building. My favorite part of every day is our little exchanges before we go in to work. It's a routine I've grown to love.

"Hey babe!" I smiled getting to Nia's desk.

"Hi." She spoke sleepily.

"Woah you don't look too good. You okay?"

"No I couldn't sleep. I had a very gnarly very vivid dream. And it's kept me up all night trying to decipher what it meant."

"Awe well what'd you see?"

"I was in a trench of some sort running you know like they built during war. There was what sounded like gunfire and explosions. But when I looked up it was just I dunno like pixie dust or some sort of colorful smoke permeating as if it were gun or fire smoke. No hard impacts or anything ricocheting off anything. I'm not sure if there was any projectiles but if there was nothing or nobody was getting injured or hurt. I turn to see why I'm running and I'm just being chased by a bunch of eagles who were covered in blood and guts. Then as I'm running I find myself getting to the end of the trench and I'm basically cornered. But suddenly I'm enveloped in this bright red and blue light. Then the next thing I'm somehow lassoed out the trench and I'm dangling from a plane over all the trenches. And suddenly the entire battlefield I guess you could call it was enveloped in this thick green and purple fog. But it wasn't a fog.. it-it was shimmering and smelled of fresh flowers. Poppies or tulips, maybe roses, I don't know. There were screams and more faux gunshots, then silence. Eerie quiet unsettling silence."

"Oh wow." I spoke softly because I wasn't expecting that to be so vivid.

"And that happened around midnight and I haven't slept since. I'd close my eyes and it's just that eerie image of the fog rolling in. So needless to say I desperately need a nap."

"Nia I honestly respect you. That clearly was a crazy dream. Then mix it with your true self you have to figure out if it was a fever dream or if that means we need to prepare for battle. I don't know how you do it girly."

"It's a blessing and a curse. But on the upside since I couldn't sleep I managed to finish and pre-edit my article this week."

"With every bad situation comes a good!" I smiled with a nod.

"Yeah. But now I've gotta find a way to procrastinate for the next eight hours."

"Lots of bathroom breaks. Or actually you can come and watch the new puppy with me!"

"Huh!?! Ah yeah I wanna watch a puppy. After work I'm coming over to meet him." I texted the group chat to let everyone know of the newest temporary family member. And everyone has been excited to meet him.

"Yeah. Me and Lena didn't feel comfortable leaving him alone at home since he we found him. So right now he and Lena are on their way to her office. Then she said she'd set up a camera so I can watch what he does all day."

"Awe that's so cute! Oh my god yes! Add me to the call when she sets it up because I deserve it. I want to watch.. did you name him?"

"Coconut! When I found him the dirt covered his fur sorta like the shell of a coconut. And he seemed alright with it. Lena doesn't mind it either."

"Awe that's so cute. Did you guys take him to the vet?"

"He has an appointment this Thursday. Hopefully we'll find out if he has a family already. And hopefully what breed he is."

"From the pictures I've seen, his breed is a super cute boy."

"That is exactly right." I nodded with a giggle because Coco is the sweetest little thing. It was also at this moment that everyone's computers dinged signaling that we're having a meeting soon. Yeah it's this new system that Zara had installed in all the computers in the office. It allows her to see what everyone is working on simultaneously and freeze our computers to get everyone's attention. She also can send out mass alerts hence what she has done right now. If you ask me it's a little bit invasive but at the same time I see how it's very useful for someone like her.

"Oh boy." Sighed Nia. Just like me, she is also still very skeptical of Zara. In our entire friend group Lena is the only one who can willingly be in her presence longer than five minutes without wanting to stab her.

"It might not be so bad. Look it. She's not even in today again." I spoke pointing towards her office which is empty. However the tv monitors are on and it has the CatCo logo spinning on it meaning she's going to "make an appearance" today. This isn't anything new for us here. Right from the beginning Zara made sure to explain that there will be days that she won't be able to physically come into the office. Then she basically summed up that it'd be because of personal health problems she's had for years, unrelated to her assault, and to not worry about her when she is gone for a day or two unannounced. It was.. different but Zara made jokes about it reassuring that despite her not being as able bodied as the rest of us that she still has the same ambition we all do. However she's made an excellent effort to try and be involved at work regardless. It started off as Zoom calls and e-mails. Then with this new software she had installed she can project onto the screens in her office. Then she has a live feed of us all standing in her office or sitting at our desks. And we can all communicate in real time or individually if need be.

"Yeah. Hopefully she'll tell us we can all go and work from home. All I'm saying is if she can do it, we should be allowed to too."

"Yeah well it's different for her. We're physically capable of getting up and coming in everyday. She isn't really some days."

"I know. It just surprises how she has the willpower to work even though she's probably in a lot of pain or is sick."

"Well that's been her life for years now. Honestly I'd find it a waste of time if she hasn't found a way to manage her disability." Lena explained to me early on almost exactly what Zara's invisible disabilities are apart from what she told us at CatCo. It's part of the reason why she made sure I got her tea made with Stevia and not real sugar. And why it's important that Zara eats at least twice a day minimum. It also checks out as to why my girlfriend asks if I've seen Zara eat since I got in to work. I'd be upset but that's just our small measure to avoid a bad situation.

"She didn't come to be the CEO of two very important companies lying in bed every time she couldn't get out it."

"And it's because of that I have a lot of respect for her from a business standpoint. Outside of work I'm not so sure. She made out with my girlfriend and I will never forget that."

"It didn't mean anything. Lena doesn't go all goo-goo eyes for anyone but you."

"I know that but does our boss?" Nia didn't have time to respond before Zara popped up on the monitors.

"Good morning everyone. I hope we are all energized and ready to get to business. I'd like to apologize once again for my absence but my body once again has decided to go on vacation without my knowledge. I do not know where it decided to go this time but if anyone sees it wondering about, tell it to go home." She smiled with a light chuckle. Yeah she makes jokes but they aren't always funny. "Anyway I was going through some of the topics that were suggested to me and I'd like to go over them with you all and hopefully get everyone situated and started for today." Then from there we basically had our somewhat daily debriefing and then got to work. Like promised Lena set up a camera and I got to watch Coconut play with his toys, lounge around, and enjoy the occasional belly rub. Nia even came and hung out with me so she could watch too. Once lunchtime came me and Nia went over to L-Corp. There we spent our time eating and playing with Coconut. Mostly playing with Coco though. I really hope that he just got lost and he has a family out there looking for him. But secretly I hope he doesn't because I think he'd be a good edition to the Super Friends. Not only that but it'd be a big stepping stone in Lena and I's relationship. We'd finally have our first of many kids together. But before that I reckon it'd be easier to take care of him if we're all under the same roof.

So I've decided to let Roni have her fun here. Granted she is only here for a good time and comes in handy later. Yes I did just blatantly set that up. I didn't even try to hide it. Yeah I've been obsessed with the idea of Roni since the moment Kara stumbled into her bakery. Dw she won't be too much of a main character but she's a vibe. Also I just really wanted yall to know mid spring last year I dove headfirst into the world of roller derby. It started with a jammer who always was on my fyp then I decided to just check it out on YT. Then I was introduced to the Gotham Roller Girls and I spiraled. (Ik ironic team name right?) Anywhore it's worth checking out if you're bored or are like me and just like knowing stuff. I'm actually watching a recent match as I type this. Gotta show love for my girl 1706 because sadly she's the only one of my favorites still playing... on a different team... but it's ok. Iykyk. If you honestly dgaf just hang tight it won't make sense to you later granted I decide to drop the useless chapter I wrote that I've been obsessed with for months now. Umm now on to Zara. Because this is what is most important. This is the part where I remind you that we care about representation here at CallmeJoz inc. If you payed any attention to Zara you probably noticed little quirks that I worked in about her between Kara and Lena. Yk like why her tea has to have Stevia or that she has to eat at least twice a day. This is why. I've chosen for her to be a badass beauty who has an invisible disability. I wanted to harp on DC's mission of inclusion and add a new element. Ik I've done a piss poor job showing that prior but now I've decided how that factors in majorly. If you don't know what an invisible disability it's just google/YT "Spoon Theory" and that'll help. Ik several ppl irl who have invisible disabilities so it really helped me understand why one day they're full of energy then the next can't get out of bed. You can thank me later just spreading positivity and knowledge. But mostly I'm just helping you not be bored lol. Kay can we talk about Coconut now? Because what a handsome boi!! Yeah I dunno either he doesn't even help the plot at all. He's just a handsome man who we all know and love. I just needed the cover photo for the story to make sense ig.
