Lena's POV

Being driven around in an unmarked black van with a bag over my head was never on my bucket list. The only reason I agreed to this mode of transportation was because of the pleading in Kara's eyes. I've known this woman for less than four days. Why the hell am I letting myself be driven like this to an unknown location in the middle of the night? All my rules. Right out the window. All for a woman I've known less than four days.

"Thank you," Kara whispered. Taking my hand, she squeezed gently. "I'm sorry…"

"We'll talk when you're healing." I tried to keep my voice steady. Note to self: sun lamps. Sun lamps everywhere. Home, office, a portable one. I do not want to do this again. I groaned as we hit a pothole and I was thrown sideways into the blonde. Although, being thrown into Kara's strong arms almost makes this suffocation worth it. Almost.

"We're here." Getting out of the van, Alex came around to the side and slid the door open. "Can you handle getting to the medical unit with Lena?"

"Yeah." Stepping out first, Kara guided me with relative ease. "I would just carry you but my shoulder…" Kara paused. "You could get on my back?"

"That would hurt your shoulder more." I hooked my arm around Kara's elbow on her uninjured arm. "The quicker we get inside, the quicker I can get this bag off my head."

"Oh! I can take that now." Carefully, Alex took the bag. "Sorry."

The bright fluorescent lights stung my eyes. A soft whine escaped the Super's throat when I used both hands to shield my eyes. Instinctively, I ran both hands through my hair to fix anything that had been ruffled out of place. "Is there any point in asking where I am?"

"Classified," the older Danvers shrugged. "Eventually, we can tell you," she paused. "Especially if you and Kara become serious." I let myself get abducted. Is that not serious enough for you?

"Danvers." A stern voice thundered through the parking area. A tall man waited for us at the door.

"Space Dad," both sisters mumbled.

"Supergirl, get to the medical wing. Miss Luthor, you may go with her but nowhere else. The consequences of doing so will result in a very irritable Luthor and Kryptonian. Alex, come with me." Seeing how thin the ice was beneath the women's feet, I kept my snide comments to myself.

As Kara guided me through the halls, I tried to take in as much as possible. I received curious and worried looks from some employees who walked by. What is this place? It's a government facility but which branch?

"We're here." Entering a room just big enough for a bed, a chair, and a standing desk, Kara picked up a tablet. After a moment, golden rays washed over the white sheets. Making herself comfortable, Kara sighed. "I'm really sorry about this. I just…" Covering her face, the blonde groaned. "You're in danger and I panicked. The cyborg who came to your office…he was so strong. I don't understand how he actually hurt me without using kryptonite. I don't think a protection detail could keep you safe if he came back. If he did before I healed, I wouldn't be able to protect you."

Her voice is shaking. Is she already falling for me? Or developing feelings? "I understand." Placing my hand on the woman's forearm, I smiled down at her. "I appreciate you wanting to keep me safe." God. That smile will be the end of me. Taking a seat, I looked around the room and through the glass walls. "How long does this normally take?"

"Depends on the injury. For a hurt shoulder, maybe thirty minutes. Sometimes, I've had to lay here for hours. If I can lay under direct sunlight, it doesn't take as long." Kara paused, a goofy grin tugging at the corner of her mouth. "If you had a cot on your balcony, I'd be set."

"Miss Danvers, are you trying to hint at something?" I teased.

Before Kara could respond, her attention moved towards the door. "Alex and our boss are coming." A moment later, we could hear them talking as they approached the room.

"We need to talk," Alex's voice was unreadable. Starting to panic, Kara leaned up on her good shoulder.

"Not like that," the man's voice was softer than before. Whatever unspoken understanding they had put the Super at ease. "Now, please, lay back down." Kara did. "Thank you." Moving his attention to me, he continued. "Both men who attacked you are connected to an organization named Cadmus. They are against all aliens being on Earth."

My brow creased. "Why come after me then?"

"If you're seen with, or want to help, aliens you're also a target. You were open about wanting to help all people before you and Kara became involved."

"How do you know that?" I demanded.

"There's an alien here who can read minds. He's read Kara's."

Groaning, Kara turned away from me. "I'm sorry." She mumbled, curling into a ball. "I tried not to think about you here."

"It's okay," I smiled. Leaning forward, I rubbed the blond's back. She is developing feelings for me. So quickly though? Why do I not mind it? I definitely need to stay away from this mind reading alien. I'm not a threat to the alien population. I'd rather a stranger not hear the fleeting thoughts I may or may not have about Kara.

"Anyway," Alex brought our attention back. "We don't know who the leader is yet or if they'll try again. Is it safe to assume you're not willing to stay in a safe house?"

"You know me so well already," I smirked.

Sighing, she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Leave it to Kara."

"I'll stay with her tonight." Sitting up, Kara crossed her legs. "As…as long as you're okay with it." I nodded. "I can call in a favor and have some friends come keep watch when I can't. Would these Cadmus people be bold enough to attack three days in a row?"

"We're not sure." The man folded his arms. "However," his eyes fell on me. "Since you'll be sticking around for a while, I'll extend an olive branch. You are currently sitting in a government run facility that deals with all things extra terrestrial that pose a threat to Earth. I've been told you want to help Supergirl, correct?"

"When the time comes, yes."

"Next time we may not bag you."

I studied the man. I can't tell if he's trying to be sarcastic or not. "What level of the government?"

"The highest. We work off the radar so others don't realize we exist."

"Why do you trust me with this information? What's stopping me from going to the media?" Not that I actually would.

"Because of her," He smirked knowingly. "Am I wrong?" I said nothing. "My name is Director Henshaw." He held out his hand. "I look forward to working with you."

Taking the offered hand, I shook it. "Tell whoever your mind reader is to stay out of my head."

"I will let him know. I need to go. Alex, will you escort them out when Kara's healed?"

"Yes, Sir." With that, he left. "How are you feeling?"

"Better. Not fully powered yet. Let me make a phone call while we wait. The sooner she can send a set of agents, the better."

"You're going to call them?" Alex asked, a laugh in her voice.

"We have an understanding now. They're not going to try to snag, bag, and tag me again."

Bursting into a fit of laughter, Alex wiped her eyes. "Oh, God. That was hilarious."

"For you maybe," Kara grumbled. "I could smell that goo for months!" Pulling out her phone, she put it on speaker after dialing a number.

"Hello, hello to my favorite Kryptonian! What's shakin' bacon?"

"Hey, Claud! I need your help. I know, obviously, you can't come but would you send a few agents my way? I need someone protected from some pretty strong guys and I can't be with her 24/7."

"It'll have to be Pete and Jinks. HG and Myka are in Storybrooke, Maine trying to find an author and a pen. I think between Pete and Jinks, Miss Luthor should be safe."

"How did-?" Shaking her head, Kara laughed. "Of course you knew. What made her ping?"

"It was her brother who set off the ping. We looked into her afterwards. She was deemed safe. Clearly."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I scoffed.

"It means, Jinxy is going to have a ball with you." The woman's sarcasm only irritated me more.

Kara eyed me. "How long can they stay?"

"A week, for now. If you need longer, maybe HG and Myka can take over."

"That works. When do you think they'll be here?"

"Tomorrow morning. Should they head to L-Corp?"

"Yes." Knowing I would be safe, Kara began to relax.

"Miss Luthor?" The woman paused. "Don't kill my agents. They're my chosen family. I need to go." The call ended.

Biting her lip, Kara turned towards me. "You're going to learn so much more about the government than any civilian ever needs to know."

Arriving home, I made us each a strong drink. I go to a club, see a cute girl, buy her a drink, bring her home, and my entire life gets turned upside down. I'm not mad about it but good God. "Couch?" I held Kara's drink out for her.

"Sure." Taking the glass, she sipped the amber liquid. Timidly, she placed the half empty glass on a coaster before sitting as far from me as possible. "I can understand if you're upset or angry. If Diana hadn't stood me up, you wouldn't be in this mess."

Eyeing the woman, I picked up the remote and started Grace and Frankie to pause it as the introduction started. "I'm not angry or upset." Taking a pillow, I placed it in my lap. "I will be, if you ever say something like that again."

"Say what?" Glancing towards the pillow, Kara looked hopeful. She smiled when I patted it.

"That I'd be better off if I never met you," I smirked. "I can read between the lines." Running my fingers through blonde locks, I smiled down at the superhero. "We may have a rocky start but I'm better off knowing you." You make me want to open up to people again.

Humming, Kara snuggled into me. "I really like it when you do that."

"Good." This woman is incredible. She can catch bullets in her bare hands and yet she turns to putty when I do this. "Ready to start the show?"

"Yeah."

Once the season was over, Kara flew back to her place to pack an overnight bag. She was back before I could finish washing my face. Pulling a shirt over my head, I heard the Super enter the bedroom. "That was fast."

"I only packed the essentials." She motioned towards the duffle. "I'll unpack in the guest room."

Following Kara, I leaned against the door frame as she unpacked. I don't think it would be too bad if she kept some clothes here. What am I thinking? Less than four days. "Do you want to sleep in here or-," I don't want her anywhere except my bed but it's her choice.

A light blush tinted the reporter's cheeks as she closed the drawer. "I'd like to sleep in your bed. It would also be safer…"

"You just want to snuggle against me again," I grinned. Kara's face turned redder by the second. "I'm not complaining."

"You really didn't mind?"

Wrapping my arms around Kara's neck, I smiled. "I enjoyed it." Tilting the woman's chin downward, I kissed the blonde tenderly. "Let's go to sleep. We both need some rest."
