Morning
Robin felt queasy, suddenly she rolled over to her side where a fresh trashcan was and puked, or at least tried to, she couldn't eat a thing last night because of the information she had received. Amon jerked over and pulled her hair back.
"I told you that you would make yourself sick." Amon whispered in her ear as his body was against her back, he slowly sat up,
"Hm." Robin grumbled, she slowly sat up finding him still stuck to her side.
"Think you can handle food?" Amon asked, Robin again leaned over to try to puke,
"Maybe not." Amon whispered as he held her hair again.
"Can we just go home?" Robin asked,
"Yeah, go wash and get dressed." Amon ordered. Robin slowly got to her feet and staggered to the bathroom weak from crying half the night and hungry, but food didn't even register in her brain that she was sure was malfunctioning from the buzzing going on in it. Soon enough they were on the private jet headed home,
"How are you feeling?" Robin asked,
"I just need sleep." Robin mumbled,
"You should have tried eating something this morning." Amon explained Robin laid her expensive airplane seat back,
"I…" Robin being interrupted by her stomach gurgling. Amon heard her stomach as he looked back up at his face.
"Is there any food on this plane besides nuts?" Robin asked.
"After takeoff I can have someone get you something." Amon buckling his seat belt.
"I-I sorry I scared you last night." Robin whispered, she sat her seat back up, Amon glanced over at her then looked up ahead,
"Just, don't even ask me to do that again." Amon ordered. Robin looked at him,
"I know it terrifies you, it's the same fear I live with, and I haven't even awakened yet. We will get through it together." Amon explained as he held her hand as they took off, he kept holding her hand. Robin glanced at their hands, it was a seal on his promise that he had just made her, she gently squeezed his hand and rubbed his hand with her thumb to calm him. Finally, the flight attendant came over,
"Yes, she needs something easy on her stomach, maybe crackers." Amon asked.
"Alright, how about a ginger Ale to drink?" the flight attendant asked,
"Please." Robin nodded, the flight attendant brought out a pack of peanut butter crackers and gave her an open can of ginger ale.
"Thank you." Robin mumbled,
"Anything for you Mr. Amon?" the flight attendant asked.
"Nothing for me." Amon explained, the flight attendant left them alone, Robin ate her crackers and finished her drink and laid her seat back again. Amon gave her a pillow and blanket from under his seat,
"Thanks, I'm sorry about last night." Robin whispered,
"Just get some rest." Amon stated, Robin curled up and fell fast asleep. When Amon knew she was sound asleep he laid his seat back and covered himself with his trench coat and glanced over at Robin. He knew not to show his emotions towards her with so many witnesses around lest it gets back to the boss. He turned his face toward the ceiling and closed his eyes. Soon enough they were landing, and the flight attendant was waking him, he set the seat back to the original setting and woke Robin.
"Hey, we are back, wake up." Amon ordered as he shook her awake,
"Hm." Robin grumbled,
"What do we have to do today?" Robin asked.
"I will call the boss and we will go from there." Amon grabbing his bag, Robin grabbed her bag, and they got off the private jet. Amon called the boss while he threw his bag in trunk, Robin threw her bag in as well.
"I did not accompany her into the room, so I have no idea what was said." Amon spoke on the phone as he looked at Robin in the back seat. He slammed the trunk lid and ended the phone call. He knew with Robin sitting in the back she was trying to distance herself from him already, but he knew that she had heard the words that he said to the boss. He knew that she was distancing herself because he had done the same thing after his mother had lost control of her powers.
It's why he never got close to anyone, he didn't want to hurt anyone when and if he ever awoke and lost all control. Amon got in the car and started it, once they were on the road he finally started to speak.
"Robin, I just lied to the boss, he wanted to know what you and Father Juliano spoke about. In order to keep the information hidden you cannot distant yourself from the team." Amon explained as he kept facing forward as he drove.
"Yeah, I know." Robin explained as she picked at her nails, she was quiet for most of the ride.
"So, what does our schedule look like today?" Robin asked,
"We don't have to go in today, I figured we could go to the store and get some things for our dinner this Thursday." Amon explained.
"Hm, alright." Robin agreeing to it,
~Hopefully it will get you out of your head space.~ Amon thought to himself. Soon enough they arrived at the store, Amon had glanced over to see Robin still in her own head space.
"Robin, hey, we are here." Amon explained, she was still off in her nightmare world where she had lost control of her power and was burning alive. Amon got out and walked around and opened her door, she finally noticed Amon.
"Huh?" Robin asked,
"We are here." Amon stated, Robin looked at her surroundings and finally unbuckled her seatbelt and got out.
"Robin, you have to talk to me about this. Tell me what is going on in your head." Amon whispered.
"I don't think this is the right area to be speaking of such things." Robin explained as she followed him into the store with a cart. He wanted to pin her ass to the car door and demand her to snap out of it but she was right, there were eyes out here in public, he was going to pin her down at their apartment and get something out of her, or at least spark something in her.
"Then talk to me about your likes, dislikes, or tell me some things you want to get for our dinner." Amon explained.
"Why are you insisting on such things?" Robin asked,
"I don't want to leave you alone in your head with the information you just received." Amon explained. Robin nodded and they looked at the food items in the store, they started discussing food and recipes for Thursday. Amon felt like crap to be bringing it up, but he needed to ask,
"Should you have left without saying goodbye?" Amon asked, it had not sat well with him that Robin had just left like that.
"It's just a lot to take in." Robin explained as she hesitated in reaching for an item on the shelf, she managed to grab the item and put it in the cart.
"He has family to take care of him, that's all that matters." Robin grumbled as she walked down the row of different foods. Amon watched her walk ahead, as if she was seeing but unseeing the things in front of her like a living zombie. They finished shopping for food and headed back to Amon's place.
When they pulled up to Amon's place, he cut the engine and found Robin asleep but it was anything but peaceful.
"Please, fight for me mom, dad, you don't have to leave me!" Robin cried out, Amon walked around and opened the door, he bent down,
"Robin, wake up." Amon gently shaking her shoulder.
"No, dad please don't go." Robin cried out, Amon gently brushed a lock of her hair back and saw a tear leak from her closed eyes. Amon's facial expression turned into a worried but aggravated look,
"Robin, it's your partner, Amon. Come back to me." Amon commanded as he shook her harder. Robin jerked awake as a flame shot out of her eyes. Luckily, she drew the flame back and there was a small, barely even noticeable mark on the black dashboard.
"Robin." Amon commanded, Robin started to bring her hand up to cover her mouth,
"Amon… I did it again." Robin whispered,
"No, you didn't, I didn't see anything, come on, grab some bags and let's go upstairs." Amon explained in his cold demeanor. Robin saw the look he gave her, it wasn't pity it was concern.
~I am terrified of ever having to put a bullet in you. Don't ever ask that of me again.~ Amon's voice rang through her head, he didn't say the words again but the concern in his eyes conveyed the words. Robin nodded, Amon helped her out of the care and crushed her to his hard and unforgiving body as he trapped her in his arms.
~You are my rock, Amon.~ Robin clinching her fingers into tight fists around his coat,
"I will not let you fall." Amon whispered in her ear, reminding her of his vow to her, he felt her nod,
"Grab some bags." Amon ordered, he slowly pulled away as she quickly unclenched her fists and let him go. They grabbed all the groceries and went upstairs, they made a second trip for their bags of luggage and then settled for the night. Amon sat his bag down as Robin was walking by and he charged her and pinned her to the wall, his large hand pushing against her stomach and holding her to the wall.
"Amon, what…" Robin confused, he leaned against his arm on the wall as he got in her face,
"What the hell is going on in your head Robin? You almost caught me on fire down there. You need to talk to me now!" Amon hissed out as he was spitting in her face with his words because he was so close to her,
"I'm sorry Amon! I didn't mean to!" Robin cried out, Amon leaned into her ear, Robin closed her eyes, he was really close, practically rubbing against her body with his, he heard her swallow hard,
"You will tell me what kind of hell you saw in your nightmares. I will not let you live like this." Amon growled in her ear, he smirked as he could have sworn her heartbeat sped up, he hesitated to pull away from her, just because he wanted her to have a shock still, she couldn't walk around like a freaking zombie. When he finally pulled back a little, he noticed she licked her lips that were suddenly dry,
"Um, my parents, they were um, we were wanting me to join them, but…they were both on fire Amon!" Robin crumbling in her hands as her legs gave away, he caught her,
"I got you." Amon picking her up bridal style and taking her to the couch. Amon grabbed the remote to the tv and placed it in her hand,
"I'm ordering food from Harry's. Let me put this other food up and then we are going to play cards. I am going to get you out of your head space." Amon explained. Robin tried to find something to watch but couldn't find anything, so she turned it off and started cleaning her guns. Amon put the food away and came over with a beer and playing cards,
"Put those away." Amon pulling the cards out of their original box.
"What kind of card game are we playing?" Robin asked,
"Poker." Amon stated as he started to shuffle them, Robin sat back into the couch,
"You will lose." Robin stated with a serious tone in her voice, Amon caught onto her underlining meaning. He cocked his head to look at her,
"If I want something bad enough, I don't ever lose." Amon stated as he glared at her. He stared her down as he shuffled the deck, then he gave out the number of cards and laid the deck down.
"What do we play for?" Robin asked,
"Huh?" Amon asked,
"Pennies or nickels or maybe the loser answers the other's questions about his or her life?" Robin asked, he was glad she didn't bring up strip poker.
"How about pennies and we can go from there once I see how good you really are?" Amon asked.
"Alright." Robin giving him a small smile, they played five hands and their food from Harry's had arrived. They ate in silence with some background music.
"You are a pretty good poker player. Let's up the stakes, loser takes a shot." Amon pulling out a bottle of 2006 Barolo,
"Amon?" Robin asked,
"You forgot that I got three bottles of the stuff, didn't you? Shame you finished one off in the hotel room." Amon asked,
"Thank you." Robin bowing her head,
"No problem. We will share this one and save the other for a rainy day, hm?" Amon asked as he took a sip straight from the bottle and then offered her a swig. She took a sip and sat it down,
"Alright, let's play." Robin seeming to be in a somewhat better mood and her mind focused on the game. They played until they emptied the bottle, in the end they had drank about half the bottle each and they were much more relaxed. It had been Amon's plan all along, hoping it would relax Robin enough to sleep without any nightmares.
"I hope you sleep well Robin. Do not hesitate to come to me if you need me." Amon explained.
"Thank you, Amon." Robin closing her door, Amon went to change into some sleeping pants and brought a blanket and pillow out to the couch so if she started to scream from her nightmares or caught anything on fire he could be right there. He cut the lights off and fell asleep when his head hit the pillow. Robin got in bed in a spaghetti strapped shirt and thin black pajama pants. She was afraid to go to sleep, but when her head hit the pillow, she was out. The next thing Amon knew he was jolted from sleep. He sat up and rubbed his eyes,
~2:33 am?~ Amon thought,
"Dad, no don't leave me behind!?" Robin cried out, Amon ran to her room. When he threw the door open the bedspread at the foot of the bed was on fire.
"Robin!?" Amon ran over and started shaking her,
"Dad!" Robin jerked awake, she saw the bedspread on fire, again she drew the fire inside her and it was out. Robin looked at him, Amon jumped in bed behind her back, her pillow being squished in between his back and the headboard.
"It was just a dream." Amon whispered as he pulled her back against his chest,
"Why couldn't my dad stay with me? Was he afraid of me that much?" Robin asked, Amon's arm was wrapped loosely around her breast plate and resting on her collarbone. He felt her tears hit his arm,
"He wasn't afraid of you. I think he just couldn't live life without your mother. I know it sounds selfish but when my father died in a car wreck Nagira said my mother wasn't the same, that was why Nagira was coming over often to help her, I think there are some people out there who truly and deeply care about one another that they give up on their life when the one they care for dies like that. They did the right thing and left you with Father Juliano. Do not fault them for dying together. it is easier than having to become a burden to the rest of their family." Amon whispered. Robin noticed how he couldn't say the word love,
"I do fault them, I can't help but to hate the man that was supposed to be my father. He never got to be a father because of his selfish actions. I would have taken care of him." Robin hugging Amon's arms that were wrapped around her, one still resting on her breast plate and collarbone and the other around her belly.
"Robin, you were a toddler back then, it would have come down to Father Juliano to take care of your father, your father wouldn't have been able to care for you with that kind of pain. You forget, I had to watch my mother go through it. They left you with someone that made sure to train you well enough to survive as a craft user. Please, sleep, you need it, if you don't stop this behavior everyone at work will know there is something up. I am here Robin." Amon bowing his whole body over her as he tried to rock her. He could hear her sobbing again, he gently pulled her hair back and placed it behind her ear as she cried her heart out. Amon held her firmly as she cried herself to sleep.
