Chapter 25- An Unlikely Alliance Is Forged
Sage's proposition of allying herself, Dr. Eggman, Metal Sonic and G-23 with the Resistance, obviously startled everyone.
Dr. Eggman got off his Egg Mobile, speaks out in a reluctant tone of voice. "...what Sage had said is right, as I know roughly around 60% of Chronos's plans given our short pact. We both have similar agendas to defeat Chronos, and currently our respective forces are quite small. This is the only solution we have to winning."
The room becomes silent for a moment, before Tails walks up to Dr. Eggman. "Infinite…his Generals…and the rest of his army are unbelievably powerful for us to tackle on our own, so I believe that we should join forces with Eggman." Tails and Dr. Eggman both recall the time when they put their rivalry aside to prevent the ARK from destroying the Earth, and offered each other a handshake representing the formation of the Resistance and the Eggman Empire alliance.
Dr. Eggman pressed a button on his wrist, showing a hologram detailing what he knows about the Phantom Ruby with an image of the magenta icosahedron ruby plaster in the middle. "Not only does the Phantom Ruby give Infinite power that vastly surpasses the Super Forms, but create a sense of false reality to his opponents with his virtual reality projections which are able to interact with the real world as well."
Dr. Eggman even points out the rest of their major bases and their main fortress, so the "Alliance" quickly plans out their counterattack. Soon after, a distress SOS is shown on the screen alerting everyone.
Dr. Eggman murmurs long enough for everyone to hear. "Chronos are initiating the second stage of their plan…to launch a massive attack meant to seize the last remaining city not under their control, Metropolis."
The army is led by Shiki (General Rank No. 1) and Kaze (General Rank No. 2) by the order of Infinite. All seems hopeless for the civilians at Metropolis, when at the last second a huge Resistance squadron guided by Shadow and Silver foils Chronos's attack. The others search for the Gaia Temples to bring back the Chaos Emeralds back to their former glory, whilst Blaze goes back to the Sol Dimension and ventures to all of the "Terra Temples" to do the same thing with the Sol Emeralds.
Back at Metropolis, Shadow partaken in close combat with Shiki in his Super Form, Shiki launches themselves at Shadow putting his guard up and kicks him multiple times before encasing his foot with a solidified earthen material to increase the force of his dropkick that sends Shadow downwards. Shadow is pushed back into the window of a nearby building and starts his counterstrike, teleporting in front of Shiki to deliver a cracking kick to the face. He teleports behind Shiki with Chaos Control and does a right-hand chop, followed by a right hook then a right sweep kick. Finishing his rush attack by kicking Shiki high in the air then knocking him down with a right elbow downwards strike. Shadow aims at the tumbling Shiki, up till Kaze soon intervenes kneeing Shadow hard in the gut and palm punches him into the side of a rooftop. Shiki and Kaze begin to tag-team Shadow, so Silver rushes in and holds back Kaze from intervening again.
As the two pairs recommences their battle, Shiki analyses Shadow from his fighting style to his resolute demeanour. "He and the young hedgehog are able to transform into their Super Forms without the Chaos Emeralds. To think they could evolve this much."
Kaze also notices this, indirectly dropping his guard down as Silver rams him into a nearby building. Shadow proceeds to block some of Shiki's attacks, before he manages to bind him with earthen chains. Shadow eventually breaks free with a pseudo Chaos Blast, and assaults Shiki relentlessly, ending with a Double Axe Handle.
Silver dons his Psycho Smash instantaneously in an attempt to send Kaze flying, however, Kaze uses both a combination of his raw speed and his ability to manipulate wind, avoids the attack and instantly covers enough ground to move to a rooftop behind Silver.
Silver clenches his fist and is seen faintly smiling, filled with confidence. "We are practically evenly matched in terms of physicality, but his utilisation of his innate ability is a bit better than mine."
Silver launches multiple bursts of energy, Kaze dodges some, but as he begins to get hit, he unleashes a wind energy pulse to repel them. Kaze narrowly avoids the guided energy blade, leaving him open for Silver to strike. Kaze retaliates by manifesting numerous wind dragons, Silver tries his hardest to defeat them, but gets overwhelmed after a while. Shiki gets back up, to notice a huge energy beam approaching him, causing a large explosion. Shadow goes to assist Silver as quickly as possible. "For someone who was able to hold their own against me in my current state, I don't think he would be defeated by my Chaos Spear V2."
Shadow punches Kaze in the face, causing him to lose focus and his wind dragons dissipate as a result. Shadow and Silver charge at their opponent, delivering a barrage of blows in sync, then ramming themselves into Kaze and unleashes a combination attack; Chaos Shock!
Shiki flies to the defeated Kaze, with a look of acknowledgement. "We shouldn't have acted so carelessly…our enemies turn out to be not as "mere" as we thought. But, losing here means all of the struggle and the pain we endured were meaningless!"
Shiki absorbs the essence of Kaze's wind ability to combine with his earthen one, as his appearance radically changes upon doing. His body becomes lithe and covered with radiating black markings that resembles primitive rock patterns, Shiki also grows short claws on his fingers and toes, his canines extend to the extent where they look like fangs, and all his eyes turn golden.
Meanwhile, the Resistance split into three groups e.g., one group after the Gaia Temples, the other at the Resistance's main advanced flying command centres that double as aircraft carriers and lastly the remaining members at the safe haven in case of an invasion.
The first group- Rouge, Omega, Mighty, Espio, Surge, Kit, Amy, Bunnie, Dr. Eggman, Tails, Cosmo, Sage, Metal Sonic and G-23.
The second group- Knuckles and Sally.
The third and last group- G-merl, Vector and Antonie.
Rouge and Omega escort themselves to Mazuri. Surge, Kit and Mighty venture into Chun-nan. Metal Sonic, Sage and G-23 go to Spagonia. Amy and Bunnie visit Holoska. Espio independently went to Shamar and Dr. Eggman, Tails and Cosmo enter Adabat.
The combined forces of the Resistance & the Eggman Empire banded together their counterattack against Infinite and the rest of Chronos. Find out what happens next
