"Somebody help! My baby's…Help! Help!"
The voice of a crying mother caught Hellboy's ears, and he turned. Liz stepped away from the group and joined Hellboy as they walked over to her. The mother turned and did a double take at Hellboy's looks.
"How can I help you, ma'am?" Hellboy asked gently. He saw the look on her face but ignored it.
"My baby's inside!" She said as she pointed to the window of her van. Hellboy peeked in the darkened window just as Abe, Krauss, and the woman came up. Krauss touched the woman and guided her away.
"There's nothing to worry about," The German man said. "We've got everything under control."
Liz shook her head with an expression on her face as Krauss, Abe, and the two women stepped away from the car. Liz went around them to help others. The mother cried for her baby again. Hellboy turned around to see the creature's vine arms swinging around. The head finished forming and the glowing egg hid behind two petal-like structure. The slits in it glowed as eyes. The bottom parts split open, and the creature bellowed. He turned, slammed his hands into the door and gripped it. He pulled it off the hinges and threw it to the ground. Then he turned and stepped into the van.
The baby cried as he unbuckled the child and picked him up to hold against him. He stepped out then ducked as one vine slammed down on the van he just stepped out of. He started walking backwards as the creature picked up cars and crunched it. Then it turned and threw it at an oncoming helicopter.
Maizie stepped back into the street after she helped a couple off the road and looked up as she heard the explosion. It seemed as if that was the trigger for everybody. Every person still on the street began running. She spotted Hellboy jumping on cars, running from the creature. She ran in the direction he was running. Cars were flipped into the air. She bumped up into Krauss.
"Agent Hellboy," Krauss called out to catch his attention. Hellboy stopped and looked at him. "Reach higher ground and shoot the weapon. Shoot the weapon!"
As they watched, the car that Hellboy stood on flipped and he flew into the air. The car headed towards them, so Maizie grabbed Krauss's arm and wisped out of the way. They appeared on the sidewalk. Krauss turned his head and nodded in thanks. Maizie nodded back then looked around. Hellboy had disappeared.
"Where did he go?!"
Maizie's cry of alarm caused Krauss to look around then he pointed upwards. She looked up and saw Hellboy swinging on a thick bundle of wire hanging from a HOTEL sign.
"Oh fuck," She said. She looked at Krauss. "He still has the baby."
There wasn't much they could do as they stood and watched Hellboy swing up onto the letter 'L' then set the baby in his tail. As Hellboy climbed up the glowing letters, the 'L' was destroyed. He spoke into the mike calling for Maizie.
"Maze!"
She pressed into her ear, "Yeah Red?"
"When I tell you to, I want you to teleport up here and get the baby," He said as he huffed. He climbed up another letter.
"Okay," Maizie said as she crossed the street closer to the sign. She left Krauss behind. Hellboy jumped onto the 'H', his feet split on each solid surface. The 'O' was flung, and it crashed into a car. Krauss stepped away from it.
"You must shoot it in the energy ganglion," Krauss told Hellboy.
"The what?" Hellboy asked as he looked down to Krauss. He saw Maizie below waiting.
"The energy ganglion," Krauss said. "The head! Shoot it in the head!"
Before Hellboy could reply, the 'H' shook, one of the two metal placeholders pulled out from the brick wall. Maizie gasped.
"Now Maizie!" Hellboy cried out as he got his balance back.
Maizie didn't waste a second. The grey smoke enveloped her, and she reappeared above Hellboy in the ledge. She didn't dare stand on the 'H' as it was too small for two people, and it was unsteady. She leaned over the ledge.
"Up here!" She cried out.
Hellboy looked up then nodded. But he didn't have the chance to lift his tail to her as Maizie was suddenly flung. She flew backwards and hit an ac unit. She cried out in pain as she landed on the floor of the building. She looked up and the brother of the woman stalked towards her.
"You…" She whispered as she slowly stood up.
He stopped in front of her and gripped her throat. She grabbed his hands, and her eyes went white as her body went limp. They both got pulled into a vision.
Maizie and the blonde man stood side by side as they viewed the future version of him sitting on a throne. The completed crown sat on his head. The sister, the princess, stood beside him. In the far distance, they could hear the clatter and thuds of the mechanical army that he commanded.
The vision ended as he let her go. She fell to her knees, then looked up. He smiled.
"Thank you for that," he whispered as he kneeled to her eye level. "I will succeed."
"No, you won't," Maizie rasped. Her throat sore from his grip. "We'll stop you."
He palmed her cheek as he looked at her. Then gripped her chin, "That's not what you foresaw Seer. When I conquer the humans, you'll be my seer. You'll show me who my enemies are, and I will strike them down. You'll be mine."
"Never," she spat at him. He jerked his head to the side. He let her chin go and wiped the spit off his face. He looked back at her then raised a hand and brought it down. Maizie's head snapped to the side. She fell sideways unconscious.
The man stood up. He gazed at her for a moment then turned around. He ignored her as he stepped up to the ledge and looked down at the large red man.
