This chapter came a bit late. Sorry about that. Regardless, I hope it's up to your expectations. Enjoy :D

"So if you insert me into a puppy fetus, my soul can theoretically take it over thus making it my own body. This is of course assuming there isn't any innate soul residing in the fetus beforehand," Midoriya-san said with a grin, complete with floating illustrations of his plan courtesy of Takato's quirk's newfound ability. "What do you think?"

Takato opened his mouth but closed it soon after as he tried to think of a way to respond. He eventually managed to construct a coherent sentence, all the while trying to ignore the disturbing image of a dog's anatomy in front of him.

"You want me to… put you inside an unborn puppy?" If his face wasn't enough to express his bafflement, his quirk was there to deliver his feeling to the older boy.

Midoriya-san blinked and scratched his head in embarrassment.

"Oh, no no. Of course not. I guess I got too distracted. This is a first for me, you know. Your quirk is too interesting I can't stop thinking of every way to use it," he explained.

Takato sighed and lay back down from his sitting position.

Both of them had been spending the last few days thinking of ways to bring Midoriya-san back from the dead. When he was awake and not at school, Takato would visit the library to look for ideas. When he was asleep, he would come into this mindscape thingie as Midoriya-san called it to talk with him over what the both of them had figured out.

"This is impossible," he said staring at the white void around them.

Midoriya-san smiled and patted his shoulder. "We'll figure it out. And even if we can't, I'm grateful enough you're trying to help."

Takato frowned.

「「「•」」」

Takato muted out Asanuma-sensei's lesson in favor of looking out the window.

Counting today, it had been almost two weeks since he met Midoriya-san, and yet they still hadn't figured out a legal way to get a human body for the older boy.

He could feel a headache building up, but not from Midoriya-san. That only happened every few hours. This one came from thinking too much. He was tempted to bang his head on his desk.

"–nd remember, next month we'll have a science fair. Submit your groups' names to me by next week," Asanuma-sensei said just in time for the bell to ring.

Takato began to collect his stuff, hoping another trip to the library would solve his problem.

Someone poked him from behind.

"Takato-kun!"

Takato jumped, heart racing and gasping for air. He turned to see his ever-cheery friend with his hand over his chest.

"K-Katou-san! Don't scare me like that!"

The girl giggled innocently as if she didn'tThe girl giggled innocently as if she didn't just lose him 10 years of his life.

"You've been distracted the whole day. What's on your mind?" She asked and raised her puppet to her ear. "Probably thinking how to confess to you, wan!"

"No, I'm not!" He quickly turned away to hide his embarrassment from her teasing. "It's just… I promised to help someone with something, but I don't know how to do it," he said, looking down.

"Well, maybe I can help," she offered as they made their way to the stairs.

He scratched his head.
"I don't know if you can help. It's… complicated." He gestured with his hands as if that could explain the situation any better.

She frowned but nodded in understanding. "Alright. Tell me if you change your mind, okay?"

Takato nodded, smiling. "Yeah. Sorry though, but I appreciate the offer."

She was about to say something before a loud ringing muted the world around him. His knees turned into jelly and the stairs below him came ever closer to his face. The headache intensified as he gradually lost consciousness. The last thing he remembered was a tiny pair of arms catching him and Midoriya-san's shout of "Yes! Wait– Takato!"

「「「•」」」

Takato woke up to a very nervous Midoriya-san. The white void surrounding them wasn't just white anymore. There was a significant amount of black cracks all over it.

"Takato! Thank goodness." The older boy grabbed his shoulder and pulled him into a hug, sighing in relief. "I'm sorry. I was experimenting with your quirk, but got too excited."

"Experimenting? What?"

Takato held his head. It was still aching, but it slowly faded away as the cracks in the void healed themselves.

Midoriya-san pulled away and looked at him. If he squinted, Takato could see the sheepishness hidden behind the worry and guilt on his face. The older boy began explaining but held back on any emotion that could affect him, his eyes occasionally watching out for any newly formed cracks.

"When I saw your memory, I could feel everything you experienced. Sight, smell, touch. So I wondered if I could access your most recent ones to see and hear again..."

Takato, still nursing his head, watched Midoriya-san pulling a memory of him falling to the stairs just a moment ago.

"I guess it worked?"

Midoriya-san sucked whatever imaginary air that was in this place through his teeth. "Yeah. A little too well. I got overexcited. Sorry again. That was dangerous."

Guilt reeked from the older boy.

Takato scratched his head, trying to assure him. "It's fine. It's not like you can control it. And someone caught me anyway, so I'm not in any danger."

"You will be though if you don't get up soon," an unknown voice said from beside them.
Takato instinctively jumped to hide behind Midoriya-san's shaking legs, eyeing the stranger that shouldn't be here. It was a girl around 6 years old. A girl that looked suspiciously like his friend.

"Takato, did you bring in any soul other than me home?"

"No," he said, looking up at the older boy before turning back to the girl. "I've never met her."

The girl sighed and opened up her arms in a non-offensive gesture. "Look, I'm Juri's quirk, you've been out for 10 minutes, and that Li friend of yours is gonna kill you if you don't wake up soon."

Takato and Midoriya-san looked at each other, blinking in confusion. They turned back to her.
"Juri... You mean Katou-san? I thought her quirk was mind reading," Takato said, remembering all the times his friend teased him for his "romantic" thoughts as she called it.

The quirk girl nodded and approached them, grabbing Takato's arm as she did so.

"Yes, that's part of it. Ask her to explain more outside. Anywho, off you go."

She pulled his arm downward and before he realized it, he found himself lying down on the infirmary bed, three pairs of eyes staring down at him.

「「「•」」」

Katou-san sighed in relief and pulled him into her arms.

"You're okay. What happened?" She asked as she sat beside him on the bed.

"Well–" Someone cut him off before he could finish.

"What happened was a certain somebody used his quirk despite being told not to," Jen said, glaring daggers at him. A similarly upset six-year-old beside him nodded in agreement with her brother, save for the glaring.

Takato sheepishly waved at them as if that could do anything.

"Hi, Jen, Shiuchon."

Katou-san frowned at their interaction.

"I'm a bit lost here. What's going on?"

Jen nodded to explain. "Basically, Takato here was explicitly instructed to not use his quirk without supervision. It's dangerous. Just last week he passed out for no reason, but I guess we know what it is now." He crossed his arm, frowning at Takato.

Shiuchon fiddled with her fingers. "We should tell dad..."

Takato grabbed the edge of the bed, looking at the two of them in panic. "Please, no! Your dad can't know. I promised Midoriya-san I'd–" his eyes widened and he quickly slapped his palm over his mouth. But the damage was done.

"Midoriya Izuku, the person from the newspaper," Jen said, realization in his eyes. He looked at Takato in disbelief. "Takato, why would you do that? You almost died last time!"

"Midoriya-san would have died too! I... I couldn't just do nothing..." Takato said, hanging his head low.

A hand gently squeezed his shoulder. Katou-san smiled at him in reassurance. She then turned to the two other people in this room.

"I'm still confused about what's going on, but I'm sure Takato did what he thought was right," she said, making Takato smile. "He's also a momma's boy, always listen to what his parents say. If he directly didn't do what he was told, that must mean something. Don't you think so, Li-kun?"

Takato didn't know how to feel about the backhanded compliment but he continued smiling anyway.

Jen rubbed his head in frustration and sighed. "Where's this Midoriya-san now?"

"In Impmon."

"Right. And knowing you, you must be trying to find a vessel for his soul, right?"

"Yeah."

"So you're gonna put him inside a dead puppy too?" Shiuchon asked, tilting her head. Jen gave her a deadpan stare while Katou-san was trying her best to react to the question going by her ever-changing facial expression.

Takato just chuckled weakly, reminded of his recent conversation with Midoriya-san.

"No, I'm not gonna do that," he finally said. "I've been looking into robotics. Maybe I could make him a robot body or something."

Katou-san gave up on her current task and turned to other topics. "You said soul, right? As in, the thing that makes you alive?"

Takato nodded. "Yeah."

She tapped her chin, humming in thought. "Robots aren't biological creatures. If souls are part of the human body, then that must mean there's a place to store it, even if we don't know what it is."

Jen nodded. "We've just only proved that souls exist thanks to Takato. If every living being has a space to store inside their body, we haven't discovered it."

Takato scrunched his forehead. "I can put Midoriya-san in a plushie just fine though."

"True," Jen nodded again. "But that plushie can't move, can it? It's not alive. If you put Midoriya-san's soul inside a functioning robot, you won't do anything except transfer him to another container."

Takato considered his words and realized his friend was right. Tears began to pool in his eyes as it dawned on him he would never fulfill his promise. Midoriya-san was going to stay a ghost forever.

"Jen-niichan! You made him cry!" Shiuchon scolded her brother. She grabbed Takato's hand. "Don't listen to what he said. You told me not to cry when I broke my toy, so you shouldn't cry too!"

He tried to smile at her, choking and gasping air. "H-how can I not cry? I promised! I promised Midoriya-san to bring him to his mom. But now he can't anymore... I'm stupid." He covered his face in his palms, tears flowing out and staining the bedsheet.

"What if he still can?" Katou-san asked.

Takato raised his head and looked at her in confusion. He sniffed. "What do you mean?"

Katou-san smiled. "I never told you what my quirk can do. Other than mind reading and telekinesis, it can also connect things."

"Connect things? Wait, you have telekinesis?"

She ignored his question. "I can read minds by connecting my own to other people's. And if souls do exist..."

"...then you can connect them to non-living things," Jen finished.

"What?" Shiuchon scrunched her face in confusion.

"He means that I can still find a body for Midoriya-san," Takato said to her, grinning as he wiped his tears. He took a deep breath and looked at the two siblings. "Jen, Shiuchon. Please don't tell your dad yet. I don't know what will happen if I cancel the quirk. Can you keep quiet about this for now? Please..."

Jen was conflicted but eventually gave in. "Alright."

Takato smiled. "And you, shiuchon?"

The girl scratched her cheek. "I guess. Dad will be mad though."

"Yeah, I know."

He turned to the last person in the room and looked at her in the eye.

"Katou-san. The soul stuff we just talked about, it's a government secret. I've broken a lot of rules as it is. I know this is a lot to ask, but can you keep this quiet too?"

Katou-san just smiled and took his hand. "Of course I can. I'm your friend, aren't I?" She then raised her puppet at his face. "But the price is your hand in marriage, wan!"

"Katou-san!" Takato shouted, heat rising to his face.

「「「•」」」

The weekend arrived and as promised, the four of them met up at the playground not far from school. The dinosaur hut they climbed in hid them from any passer-by.

"Did you all bring it?" Takato asked as he placed Impmon on the floor along with a small speaker he bought from a store.

Katou-san nodded and brought out a small camera from her bag. "This was all I could find."

Jen and Shiuchon brought out some connected circuitry boards and stuff that Takato didn't know for what or even what they were.

"They're for the speech and hearing. I had a feeling we're gonna need them for this to work," Jen explained.

They attached the items over Impmon's back with Shiuchon covering quirk, the sheet she created out of thin air imitating and merging with the plushie. Only the camera was put on top of his head.

Takato smiled seeing their work.

"You ready, Midoriya-san?" He asked aloud.

'Yeah. And don't worry. I know what to expect so you won't pass out this time.'

Takato nodded. "Alright, Katou-san."

The girl heard her cue and hovered her hand over the plushie.

From the outside, nothing seemed to happen but Katou-san was staring at the space before her. It was just a feeling, but Takato could swear there was another presence in the hut where she was staring at.

A few seconds later, she grinned and gave a peace sign. "Done!"

She didn't even need to say it. The faint headache he felt was enough sign that it worked.

"What do you see, Midoriya-san," he asked giddily. Instead of answering just in his head, the older boy's answer also came through the speaker in a monotone voice.

"I can see. I can hear. Takato, I can see."

The surprise and happiness was missing from the voice, but Takato heard it loud and clear inside his head.

The four of them cheered and hugged each other, jumping in joy (and hitting their head on the ceiling). Takato pulled Impmon into the hug as well.

"We did it! We really did it!"

"Thank you, Takato, Juri, Jen, Shiuchon," Midoriya-san said after they let go of each other.

"We're not done yet," Jen said, grinning. "We don't have enough money to buy all the parts for a robot right now, but we should have enough if we use my budget for the science fair."

"You're sacrificing your science fair project for this?" Takato blinked.

"Me too," Katou-san said. "Midoriya-san seeing his mom again is more important than a prize. I'm all for it."

"You guys," Midoriya-san said. "If I could hug you guys, I would. I'm crying in here, you know?"

Takato nodded, grabbing his aching head. "He's not lying. But I guess I'm not taking part either then."

Shiuchon tilted her head. "Why can't we make this our project?"

Jen furrowed a brow at her sister. "Shiuchon, we're doing this in secret. Nobody's supposed to know we're doing this."

The girl rolled her eyes. "I meant the robot. What will dad think if he saw us make this robot but we said it's not for the science fair?"

Midoriya-san hummed. "Shiuchon's right. It's too suspicious."

Takato held his chin and made his decision. "Alright then. We'll be teammates for the science fair. There's no rule about different classes, right?"

Katou-san shook her head. "I think some of our classmates even teamed up with their brothers and sisters in upper years."

"Then that settles it," Jen said, grinning as he scruffled his sister's hair. "Good thinking."
Shiuchon puffed her cheeks at the treatment but didn't complain.

A thought suddenly crossed Takato's mind.
"Say, your quirk is basically changing your sheet into any material, right, Shiuchon?" He said, looking at her.

The girl nodded.

"So... What if we made a Digimon robot? Your quirk will be the skin," he said, grinning in excitement. "We'll win for sure!"

Katou-san shrugged. "I don't mind."

"I'm okay if Shiuchon is okay with it. What do you say–"

"Yes!" The girl jumped and turned to Takato. "Can we make Lopmon? Please, please, pleeeeeeeeease."

"Sure." Takato chuckled at her enthusiasm.

"I don't know what a Lopmon is, but I'm in," Midoriya-san said.

"Yay!"

Takato grinned and extended a hand, looking at everyone in the hut. They all understood the gesture and did the same. "From now on we'll call this Project Digimon. You all with me?"

They nodded.

"Alright! Commencing Project Digimon!"

"Yay!"

"Yaaaaaaaaaaaay." Midoriya-san's robotic speech drawled.

And that's the end... Maybe

I feel like I can go for one more chapter before all my brain juice runs out. I really, really want to continue this story, but I also need to updaye my other works. So we'll see I guess.
