It all started with a request out of nowhere.

"Midoriya, could I borrow you for a moment".

Izuku stopped his writing as he jotted down a few more factoids for his notebook as he turned towards the Yaoyorozu heiress.

"Sure, how can I help? '' a sentence he'd managed to get across without stuttering. Since starting UA he'd done as best he could to get rid of his stutter to mixed success. Prior to attending he'd had little to no conversations with any women with the exception of his mother, auntie Mitsuki and the few female teachers of his school.

But since moving up schools and the "appearance" of his quirk he'd had a new start and with the exception of his one classmate, not a single person saw him as "that deku" anymore.

Now he was almost "one of the guys" and a member of "the hero course" classes. What some would consider an elite status symbol. Not that Izuku saw it that way.

But because of his new beginnings girls actually came to talk to him of their own free will. A concept the Izuku of two years ago would have trouble believing.

So any one of the six amazing girls in his class coming up to him for either a chat or asking about homework they were stuck on wasn't so uncommon, especially with them residing in a dorm.

But what was an oddity was who was asking in this instance.

Momo Yaoyorozu, heiress to a major conglomerate. Recommended student and top scorer on their class leader board across all subjects. And from the conversations of his classmates she was described as the 10 of 10's complete with the 3 B's to boot. He wasn't certain entirely what those were but he could hazard a guess.

So back to the matter at hand.

She led him upstairs, Izuku thinking that she just wanted to speak a little more privately but had instead led him up to her floor and before he could stop himself he was crossing the threshold of her room.

This wasn't the first time he'd seen her room though it was the first without the company of others. Any group studying they'd done together as a group had always been downstairs in the common area.

In fact this was probably the first time he'd been alone in a girls room, ever.

Luckily before he could overthink the situation the calming voice of his classmate grounded him.

"Take a seat Midoriya, I just wanted your advice on something"

Taking the only seat in the room he watched as Momo walked around the narrow walkway around her far too large canopy bed. From out of view she lifted a familiar case onto the bed and opened it revealing her hero costume.

'Wait, she can't be-' he cheeks flared red at what a part of his mind was insinuating and crossed his eyes trying to clear his thoughts. A small waft of air drew his attention back as Yaoyorozu took a seat on the edge of her bed in front of him.

He kept his eyes upwards keeping them locked on hers. As such he failed to notice a piece of paper gently clasped in her hands.

"Midoriya, should you find it agreeable I would like your help with something". Her hand raised to eye level causing him to finally notice the slightly crumpled piece of paper. "This is your work is it not?"

It was. Earlier that week he and Uraraka had been going over redesigns for their costume. While both had been happy with their current costume designs, Uraraka's as she didn't have much opposition to her current after it's recent overhaul and Izuku's own costume was somewhere on its sixth version by this point having to be nearly rebuilt from scratch each time. But during their last heroics arts lesson they had been tasked with designing an entirely new costume as if they were put in a situation where a rebounding was needed.

The piece of paper Yaoyorozu was holding was one such design he had made for Uraraka as one of the concepts they were running.

"Yes, did you also need help with the assignment, Yaoyorozu?" he asked, thinking that was what she was after.

She shook her head. "No, for such a relatively easy assignment, I have it well in hand. But rather it gave me a good reason to finally address something I've been meaning to for a while. You're familiar with my hero costume, aren't you?"

Yes" came out rather too quickly. A few times he'd managed to stop himself while analysing her costume during class. Why her costume was the way it was chief among them. His only answer without outright asking her was the practicality of it.

"Well if you have the time, I would like your help with a complete redesign of my costume"

"Huh" Izuku clearly didn't have his classmates' grace.

"Of course you will be compensated for it. You will have every resource at your disposal"

"Wait, wait just a second. I'm not even sure where to start but why ask me this, I thought that you would have asked your families support company first, aren't they who came up with your costume before"

"It's a little tricky to explain but, do you remeber receiving these forms?" More pieces of paper were pulled out but to izuku they looked like legal documents. Then he remembered receiving something like this with his costume design form. He'd handed the document to him mother for help but all she said that it wouldn't bother him and to just design what he wanted.

"Yes, though I didn't read so much as someone else made sense of them for me."

"Then you won't know that while being educated at UA and five years after, other companies are not allowed to design or contribute to our hero costumes. The only exception being other classmates or teachers affiliated with UA. I believe in your case Miss Hatsume has taken the lead with your suit renovations and the additions of support gear all of which is supervised by Powerloader".

"Wait so what about Melissa" Melissa of course being the niece in all but blood to All Might he'd met during the I-Island incident. During which she had created an amazing piece of support gear that protected his arms from the recoil and damage from his punches.

"UA has some connections to the Academy she attends but unless she were to enter a formal contract it would be unlikely. But even doing so would pit some restrictions on who she would be able to work with outside of the contract".

Parts of the puzzle were beginning to fall into place in Izuku's mind. "So why me in particular, if your family's connections are off the table. You've seen hatsumes creations in action and I'm sure that there would be someone who's maybe not as eccentric in the department".

I'm sure there are but.." her expression seemed to sadden as she trailed off. "I'm afraid those in the department don't like me so much...or rather they don't seem to be a fan of my parents influence".

"Really, how so" he said a little surprised at the revelation.

"My family have been in the business industry for generations dipping their fingers into almost every kind of business out there, and in recent years when my father had taken the helm, he sought to prove himself but in doing so he...I belive the phrase "screwed many over", would be accurate. He put out a number of small time support businesses while claiming the patents. It was all legal back then and though he has apologised since and I can tell he truly means it, those still in the support industry see him as untrustworthy.

So when I came down yesterday and found this on the table I knew I needed to ask for your assistance. And I've been told that trust is a key part in this, your actions since starting UA have shown you are worthy of that".

Despite finishing confident, Izuku could still see the slight blush created by her last sentence and the slight squirming of her fingers as her nervousness tried to conceal itself as she waited for his answer.

"I'll help you, Yaoyorozu"

"Then-"

"But you don't need to worry about compensating me, helping a friend is just what friends do right"

A sharp gasp and the moving of her hands to her face drew his attention, a motion the heiress was known for when she was excited, he'd always found it rather cute especially when her eyes twinkled like they were right now.

"So where shall we start"

After a few sessions they had a finalised design and in less then a week the paper sketches became a reality. During their next training session Momo was able to try it out feeling already more comfortable in her new costume then her previous iteration.

The one thing Momo had been adamant on was the colour, a colour that had ties to her facility heritage. Other than that Izuku was free to alter as much as he wanted.

From her previous costume they had concluded that the previous designer had taken to covering her modesty while providing the most exposure to work with her quirk. However it also meant that she had little to no protection with the exception of the Cloak she had added recently.

The first order of business was asking Momo to point out where her more common output areas were when creating. With these main points in mind he was able to add a thicker material for protection but also leaving what he'd called portals on her thighs and hips as well as her upper chest and as before the large portion of her back was still exposed. That wasn't to say they were completely bare, using a new material recently being introduced, each of these ports were covered with a thin material easily breakable but that reformed easily when a small current was sent through it.

Through some experimentation they were able to discover that the static like electricity given off as a by-product of his own quirk was a suitable catalyst to trigger the self regeneration. Using that as reference they'd created a small add-on to another addition to her costume that sent out a small shock that made nothing more than a tickle to trigger the repairs.

The most major removal was the book attached to her back which she used to contain every molecular structure she thought she would need. That along with its back endangering bracket had been scrapped in favour of a wrist mounted device that stored all that she had before that could quickly be shown with a hologram projector courtesy of Hatsume.

Thanks to her extreme tests they had found that a small tank could run over it and survive and it was resistant to EMP and strong electric currents.

The last removal was her high heeled boots, a reduction that Momo's feet were grateful for. Instead they had been replaced with flat heeled boots with greater support for extended use and traversing uneven surfaces.

The one thing that had remained almost untouched was her utility belt but with one new addition she was getting the chance to try on kirishima during their current exercise.

"She's really good with those things," remarked Kaminari as the class observed the two sparring.

The four v four match had been whitled down to two facing off. It was anyone's guess as to how creation would fare against hardening but with her new additions she wouldn't need her quirk.

"What are they called again, I could do with those" quired Kaminari, eyes glue to the close quarters fight.

"Escrima Sticks, but you'll likely just knock yourself out with them" jabbed Jirou taking a dig at Kaminari after seeing how well he handled using a weapon during the USJ.

'Especially with these ones' added Izuku mentally as he watched Momo carefully, seeing her adjust her grip to find the hidden buttons before taking a final swing at Kirishima knowing he would tank any attack she sent towards him.

Shockingly, it was her victory.

Author Note , short but I'm rather pleased with this. If toy search "momo hero costume redesign not mine" you'll see what I had in mind near the top. I had planned on putting this into Sevens Chance but with how that story's projecting it wouldn't fit.
