Roses

Neil wanted to prove his love to Belle.

And what better way to do that by setting up a fancy dinner in his family estate garden. He'd have to get the gardeners to bring roses all around the patio. And they'd represent each Zoid battle win that they had together.

Since they just won a recent match together with the team, why not fireworks to light the night sky.

The planning was all too good.

As he walked in the hallway of the team base, he saw his girlfriend.

He smiled as he went to embrace her.

After they kissed, he began to explain. "How about we have dinner tonight at my family estate this week? Just you and me?"

Belle smiled, raising her hands. "Now Neil, let's settle for a moment."

They went to the kitchen, and she made them both tea.

"I know when you get an idea you get very elaborate and over the top," she began. One time he bought expensive missiles for her Zoid on her birthday.

His smile faded away.

She was from a wealthy family as well, dealing with both Zoids and horses. She did mention she got away from the silver spoon world to figure herself out.

She went in closer, and their foreheads met. "But I know that you only do it, because you have the biggest heart I know."

A softer smile came back to his face.

When they first became a team, everyone thought that Neil was the most self-centred person they ever met. Belle told him that he always had a good heart deep down, but it was Belle who helped him to be more selfless.

Belle broke the silence. "One rose is fine."

They both laughed.

They got on her Zoid for the night, and ordered pizza. As promised, he only got one rose.

As they watched the sunset in the desert, Neil was glad that Belle stopped him from planning his version of tonight.

Perhaps the best things in life were the simplest.
