Chapter 5: A Mother-Daughter Moment.

The Shy Gal maids followed Princess Peach discreetly. They understood the complexity of the situation and knew that honesty was the only path forward. They also realized that Berry needed to know the truth about her origins.

Peach found herself standing outside Berry's room once again, a mix of emotions swirling within her. She took a deep breath, bracing herself for the difficult conversation that lay ahead. As Peach entered the room, Berry looked up, her eyes filled with curiosity. Peach approached Berry, her expression softening. "Berry, There's something I need to tell you. Something important you should know."

Berry sits up. "What's important?" She asked.

Taking a deep breath, Peach began, "Berry remember how I said that your father is lying to you? How I never wrote this letter? That I didn't know about you until now?"

"Yes mama."

"Well there's more. You were created as a means for you father to marry me. Bowser created a false narrative, manipulating the circumstances of your birth. He took some of my DNA without my knowledge and combined it with his own to create you."

Berry looked up, her eyes reflecting sadness. "Does that mean you don't want me as your daughter?"

Peach hugged Berry tightly, offering reassurance. "No, Berry. You are my daughter, and I want to be a part of your life. I didn't know about you until recently, and I want to make up for the time we lost."

Berry nodded, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "I want that too. But what about daddy? What will happen now?"

Peach took a moment to choose her words carefully. "Bowser had his own reasons, but they were misguided. He wanted us to be a family, but he went about it in a way that wasn't honest. Sometimes, people make mistakes, and it's our responsibility to learn from them."

The Shy Gal maids have been listening in and stepped forward, their presence offering additional support to both Peach and Berry "When Mario comes, we can help all three of you escape." One whispered to Peach. Berry wondered who Mario was.

"Oh. Thank you. But why?"

"As much as we love having Berry around here, you should see how her siblings treat her. It's not fair to her; and your place is in the Mushroom Kingdom, not here."

"We believe Berry will be happier there." The other Shy Gal maid added.

"Who's Mario?" Berry asked Peach and the maids.

Peach hesitated for a moment, contemplating how much to reveal. "Mario is... someone who can help us, Berry. Someone who has faced challenges like this before."

"He's a hero, and when he arrives, we'll find a way to make things right and ensure your safety." Said one of the shy gal maids.

"Will Mario like me?" Berry asked.

Peach offered Berry a warm and reassuring smile. "Mario is a kind and caring person. I'm sure he'll like you very much. He has a way of making friends with everyone he meets."

Berry's eyes sparkled with a mixture of curiosity and hope. "Really?"

Peach nodded. "Absolutely. He's a hero who believes in the goodness of people, and I'm certain he'll see how special you are."

Berry's uncertainty began to fade, replaced by a growing sense of anticipation. "I'd like to meet Mario."

Peach hugged Berry gently. "You will, Berry. And when the time comes, we'll all leave for the Mushroom Kingdom."

The Shy Gal maids, with a shared understanding, continued to discuss the escape plan with Peach and Berry. They outlined the steps, emphasizing the need for secrecy to avoid any interference from Bowser. As they delved into the details, Berry couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. The prospect of meeting Mario and discovering a new life in the Mushroom Kingdom filled her with anticipation. However, the uncertainty of the future of her parents getting married loomed over her. In the days that followed, Peach, Berry, and the Shy Gal maids discreetly prepared for their escape. They gathered supplies, studied the castle layout, and devised a plan to navigate the treacherous corridors.

As days passed within the imposing walls of Bowser's castle, Berry's connection with Peach grew stronger. A bond began to blossom between the young princess and her mother. One afternoon, Peach and Berry retreated to a small garden tucked away within the castle grounds. The garden, a hidden gem amidst the fortress, provided a serene backdrop with vibrant colored piranha plants and a gentle breeze. Peach sat on a stone bench, her eyes fixed on the horizon. Berry examined the colorful piranha plant buds surrounding them. The Shy Gal maids discreetly observed from a distance, allowing the mother and daughter the space they needed to foster their connection. Berry approached a particularly vibrant piranha plant, her small fingers delicately tracing its petals. Peach watched her with a soft smile, appreciating the innocence and curiosity that defined Berry's spirit.

"Mama!" Berry called out, turning toward Peach with wide eyes. "Do you think Mario likes flowers?"

"Well, I don't think he would particularly like these flowers." Princess Peach said.

"Really how come?"

"Piranha plants are dangerous sweetie."

"No they're not. They're very sweet." Berry said.

Peach giggled at Berry's innocence. "They might look sweet, but they have sharp teeth and can be quite tricky."

"But I feed them all the time."

Peach raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You feed piranha plants?"

Berry nodded proudly. "Uh-huh! I found out they like fish, and I've been giving them some. They're my friends!"

Peach couldn't help but chuckle at Berry's unique friendships. "Well, that's certainly an interesting way to befriend piranha plants. But sweetheart, we have to be careful. In the Mushroom Kingdom, we have much friendlier creatures and flowers that won't bite."

Berry pouted, a bit disappointed. "Oh, okay. But I'll miss my piranha plant friends."

Peach reassured her with a warm smile. "You'll make new friends in the Mushroom Kingdom, ones that won't try to nibble on you. We have fields filled with beautiful, harmless flowers. Mario would definitely appreciate those."

"Is he really a hero like you say?"

"Yes, he is." Peach said with certainty, hoping it could reassure Berry. "Mario is brave, kind-hearted, and always ready to help those in need. He's faced many challenges and always comes through, proving that a little courage can go a long way."

Berry's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I can't wait to see the Mushroom Kingdom flowers, and meet Mario!"

Peach hugged Berry gently, savoring the moment. "It won't be long now, sweetheart. We'll be back in the Mushroom Kingdom, and you'll get to experience all the wonderful things it has to offer."

The Shy Gal maids, witnessing this, exchanged approving glances. It was evident that the connection between Peach and Berry was deepening. Unbeknownst to them. Jr. and the Koopalings were also watching. They knew Peach didn't particularly care for them, and seeing Peach's genuine care for Berry sparked a twinge of jealousy. Why can't Mario come already and take them away from here?

As Peach and Berry enjoyed their time in the garden, Jr. gathered his siblings in a secluded corner, away from the prying eyes of the castle's inhabitants. Their faces wore expressions of both intrigue and frustration.

"Ludwig, what do you make of all this?" Jr. asked his intellectual brother, who often held a more analytical perspective.

"It seems Princess Peach has decided that the Mushroom Kingdom is a more suitable place for Berry. Her concern for Berry's well-being takes precedence over any familial ties we share."

Wendy, the only sister among the Koopalings, crossed her arms indignantly. "So, she just waltzes in here, disrupts everything, and now she's taking Berry away? What about us? What about Dad? He's not going to want them to leave."

Lemmy, the silliest koopaling added in. "So what of it? We want her gone right? Mario rescues Peach and takes Berry with him. That was the original plan."

Jr. sighed, trying to make sense of his emotions. "I don't know, but we can't let them just leave without understanding the full story. Maybe there's something we're missing."

Iggy, the eccentric inventor, interjected with a mischievous grin. "I've been working on some gadgets that could help us eavesdrop on their conversations. We might find out more about their plans."

The Koopalings, though accustomed to their father's schemes, found themselves in uncharted territory. The dynamics of their family had always been unconventional, with Bowser's constant attempts to kidnap Princess Peach and the ongoing clashes with Mario. However, the situation with Berry introduced a new layer of complexity.

As the group continued to discuss their plan, the Shy Gal maids, ever watchful, noticed the huddled Koopalings. Suspicion lingered in the air, and the Shy Gals exchanged concerned glances. They understood the potential consequences of the Koopalings interfering with Peach and Berry's departure.

The Shy Gal maids approached the Koopalings cautiously. "We've noticed you've been observing Princess Peach and Berry. It's crucial that you understand the delicate nature of their situation." One of the maids explained.

Larry, one of the Koopalings, shrugged. "Why should we care? This castle's been chaotic since forever. What's the big deal?"

The other Shy Gal maid spoke earnestly, "Berry deserves a chance at a normal life, away from the turmoil of Bowser's plans. Princess Peach believes the Mushroom Kingdom is the right place for her. It's a decision made out of care and concern."

Roy, the Koopaling with a tough exterior, folded his arms. "Well, we have a right to know what's happening. This concerns our family too."

The Shy Gal maids hesitated, torn between loyalty to Peach and their duties to Bowser. "We understand your concerns, but interference could jeopardize their safety. Princess Peach and Berry are preparing to leave discreetly."

Iggy, always eager for an adventure, grinned. "Leave it to us. We'll find a way to get the information we need without causing any trouble."

The Shy Gal maids exchanged worried glances, realizing that the Koopalings' involvement could complicate an already delicate situation. Nevertheless, they gave in, reluctantly agreeing to allow the siblings a peek at Peach and Berry's plans.
