Angels and Punishment

Angels Watching - Punishment

"Why did you make that face after the angel remark?" William asked Lizzie, kissing her shoulder. He couldn't wait to be with her, loving her freely as he always wanted. He knew they needed to wait for a while, but Tobias had said there was no need to wait; she was entirely healed. He would approach her later, in a few days.

Lizzie said, "No reason. I am sure I saw two faces on the window; they looked like you, somewhat, I don't know."

William was thoughtful, "My mother said she had seen faces looking from outside when I was born, and I saw something when Georgiana was born. I don't know. Maybe it is related to what I want to tell you."

Before he could tell her, danger came in.

Long ago

There were other realities humans couldn't see. There was always a struggle of good versus evil. There were guards at many entrances to this world; they were beings wanting the good of others. Often battles were waged by dark beings wanted to wreak havoc on this world, to feed on sorrow and more.

The dark beings, some called demons, were particularly active during times of goodwill such as Christmas. They wanted to cause misery and pain to ruin the happiness felt by many. Humans had seen guardians over the centuries. Some called them angels, fairies, and many other names. Many were not exactly 'angelical' looking, specifically the ones who were seen that Christmas, when the two princes had joined the battle by the side of the warriors fallen from the sky. The warrior ladies had dark-razor-sharp claws on both hands and feet, slightly sharp teeth, and wings that could change into blades. They were warriors who had what humans called magical powers.

The two females fell in love and stayed, at least for a while. Since then, they had enemies, always looking for a chance for revenge. The enemies were the dark beings who escaped that day. A few times, they had found their way back to hurt the descendants of the ones they hated.

Pemberley

This time, the enemies could sense new life, and what better way to punish them than by taking their young ones, and, hopefully a few of their females. Females to please them and then finish them.

They descended upon Pemberley, but they were not the only ones; William and his family were always guarded. Other scrimmages had already been fought, unknown to the Darcy and their relatives. There were many things unknown to them.

Around that time, Caroline was looking at how to escape; she was in the balcony when she saw a demon, it had to be one, with dark gray skin, red eyes, fangs, horns, and hair made out smoky fire-licks, who wasn't interested on her, but touched her with an icy hand. He could see the darkness seeping out Caroline, it was tasty. Unfortunately, if he harmed her, he could be stuck there since she was only a human.

Caroline ran back inside. Locked the balcony and tried to scream, she couldn't; she was frozen by the fear felt. Her hair went stark white, and her mind snapped, temporarily. She wanted to pray, thinking the devil had come for her. She had wished to hurt Elizabeth and her baby and wished for Louisa to lose her baby; yes, they had come for her.

The relatives dropped their humanity; after all, it was only them, Louisa, Reggie and Jane. Jane was amazed to see them and was not afraid. They were not angels but close. Reggie said, "Aren't they grand; I am a little like them, how I wish." Jane nodded when she saw Albert; he was beautiful. Now, she knew who would be in her future, and she couldn't wait to be in his arms.

The demons yanked the windows into the Darcy's room. There were at least nine of them. William changed immediately, looking like the females from long ago. He willed the sword he kept hidden to appear; it seemed made out of fire. He looked like a fierce warrior with blue skin and dark and gold wings. His hair was colorless, so were his eyes; his dark claws gleamed. When he snarled, Lizzie saw his sharp teeth and liked everything about him.

The demons came into the room, followed by a few like William, who appeared to be his relatives. The latter were the faces on the window. Lizzie knew instantly the demons had come for her babies. Something ran thru her, and she felt like she was on fire, transforming some. While she carried her babies, something, of whatever left on her, became stronger. She took her babies, holding them tight, kissed them and placed them between herself and the headboard. She reached for a small knife William kept by the bed, let them come. She would fight and would die before they would take her babies.

She saw Richard, Georgie, and the cousins, looking like William, not like church angels; much fiercer, everyone carried fire swords. It was surreal. One by one, the demonic beings were turned into dust. When one by Lizzie, his giant hand reaching, she rammed the knife on the hand. Someone else ran the fiery sword thru the monstrous being, turning him into dust.

In minutes was all over. Georgie and William both said, looking at a couple of the ones who had helped, "Mother, father?" The now disappearing visiting 'Angels' smiled, nodded, and were gone. The torn windows were back in place.

William looked at Elizabeth, she looked like them but not so blue, and she didn't have wings. He went to her. Georgie, already looking human, looked for the babies. "The babies, oh, no!" She panicked.

William had seen Elizabeth, when she placed the babies behind her. She moved and sat on the bed. The babies were asleep, and Lizzie was back to her normal self. Georgie ran to smother the babies with kisses.

Everyone gathered around, glad to see the babies alive. Nobody said anything; Richard had also seen William's parents, but they would all talk about it, later. For now, all was well.

"Let's all go down, no service tonight. Time to celebrate," William told everyone. They all agreed. William carried Lizzie; Richard and Georgie bundled up the babies to carry them. "Our godchildren," both said. William heard them and grinned. Good luck changing their mind, he thought.

Louisa and Reggie were dying to ask, but first stopped by their room.

Charles.

Reggie Hurst despised Charles, more now since he had changed. Charles made fun of Reggie behind his back. Charles loved Louisa, but often said how sorry he would feel for their children. He said they would not be very beautiful since the parents were not either. Charles was vain and valued his looks over everything. But he was wrong, neither Louisa nor Reggie was ugly, they were an attractive pair, and Reggie was rather handsome.

He jumped out of the window and ran to his horse. He was freezing, wearing his shoes without socks, the jacket half-on; and he had left his heavy coat behind. When the horse slid on the icy ground, he fell and couldn't hold on. He didn't know the servant had cut the reigns, just enough to fool him. After his world went black, Charles saw his body lying on the ground, and he realized he was dead. For a while, he was lost in a dark forest; he saw the waste of his life; he had not been smart and was selfish. He wished he would have another chance.

Before he could think more, he was sucked inside a dark warm place. He was very tired, but he heard Louisa talking to Hurst. "Louisa, I am sorry, but I died, an accident. Tell Jane I am sorry," Charles hoped they could hear him.

Louisa heard Charles, like he was inside her. Reggie said, "Where is Charles? His voice came from here." He pointed at her belly. "If I heard right, he is dead." He expected Louisa to cry.

"If so, I heard him as well. My father said he heard his mother talk from my mother's belly, the same day she died. It was her, it happened in his family more than once. I believe him now. When I was growing up, I would remember things that made my father very happy, I still do. So, you know, Caroline always said I was my father's favorite; I was named after his mother. We will see. If it's true, we will do a better job. Charles was a good person ruined by his vain, shallow mother. He was a sweet child." She looked sad but didn't cry.

Caroline

When they went by Caroline's room, they heard her. She sounded strange. Reggie opened the door, and saw Caroline was on her bed; her hair was stark white. "The demons came for me. I want another chance. I do, forgive me, forgive me." She kept repeating the same.

Reggie closed the door. He went down and asked Tobias to go to her. He accompanied Tobias, who gave her something to calm her down. They both knew she had seen one of the demons. Reggie was astute, "What you need to do is to go away, to a place where they won't find you. But you must change. Marry, be happy, keep them away. I might know of a place. Do you want me to talk to my cousin? He lives isolated, but heis a good man."

Caroline agreed, wanting to leave as soon as possible. "Don't tell anyone where you are going, the demon might have spies." Caroline nodded.

When they went out the room, Tobias and Reggie shook hands, "Clever, I guess you will have a happy life, and Hubert will have a good wife."

"A white hair wife," Hurst grinned.

"No, her hair will grow colored. This day is one to remember, forever." Tobias remarked.

After celebrating, they went to bed. Reggie had told a few what happened to Caroline. "Good, a lifetime of penance, I like that." Elizabeth said, and Louisa agreed. Jane sat by Albert, he had talked to Reggie, but he would wait.

That night, neither William nor Lizzie saw anyone else looking in. They didn't, but during that night several eyes were looking at them. They admired the little angels, the first twins ever. Visitors came all night. They were confident the enemies were gone. But just in case, they would keep them safe, always.

William held Lizzie close to him. There were no secrets between them. They would talk tomorrow. His wings opened while he was sleep, to cover her and keep her safe.
