The next day, Professor Sycamore, who had been sleeping over at Lysandre's house for the past few months, woke up to the sound of his friend screaming. Rushing over to his room, Professor Sycamore wanted to ask if his friend was okay, but he stood there, half worried and awkwardly. Peeping through Lysandre's keyhole, Professor Sycamore was disturbed by what he saw; black scales clinging to Lysandre's body, a mouth half-filled with human teeth, and overall, an uncanny body structure that was neither human nor dragon. "Lysandre? Are you okay there?" Professor Sycamore asked meekly, only to be dismissed with a "DON'T COME IN HERE." From the sound of that response, Professor Sycamore cringed at what his friend might be going through. Putting an ear against the keyhole again, he heard the sounds of bones cracking and muscles snapping, all punctuated by Lysandre crying out in pain.
After an agonising amount of time, Lysandre came out of his room, visibly dishevelled and shaken. "What happened there?" Professor Sycamore asked. "I wanted to see if I could turn back into a human and as you can see, Professor, it was an unpleasant experience." Professor Sycamore shook his head. "I could tell." Silence soon filled the room. "I think I need a rest." Lysandre said before going back to his room. After all, having his body structure change drastically was bound to deprive him of energy and Professor Sycamore knew that. For the next week, he searched up information on weredragons and looked after his exhausted friend.
After that period of time came and went, Lysandre was back on his feet, though he still felt somewhat tired. "If you don't mind me asking, Lysandre," Professor Sycamore asked. "What was it like? Y'know, the shifting stuff?" Lysandre sighed. "To start off with, it was painful. Do you realise just how loud your bones crack as your body shifts to a familiar, yet alien structure? You realise how much adrenaline and hormones my body's had to produce so I don't DIE in the process of shifting? It's horrendous! However, it also felt like I needed to slip into something more comfortable." Professor Sycamore mulled over what his friend said before asking "So it's like putting on a pair of shoes?" Lysandre was at a loss for words. "…shoes? No, Augustine, it feels like I'm putting on a more convenient set of clothes or armour even." He soon took a seat next to Professor Sycamore, who put a hand on his shoulder before pulling away almost immediately. "Jesus Christ, Lysandre!" he yelled. "What is it?" Lysandre asked. "You're hot!" Lysandre smirked. "Are we talking metaphorically or literally?" Professor Sycamore glared at him. "You're LITERALLY hot. Like, you've got an abnormal body temperature."
With that, he went to get a thermometer. "Please hold this, alright?" he instructed, giving the thermometer to Lysandre. As soon as it was held, the thermometer's numbers skyrocketed to a searing 47.2 degrees celsius. A number WAY higher than normal. "Mon dieu," Professor Sycamore whispered in shock and horror. "That IS abnormal." Lysandre looked at the numbers on the thermometer and shrugged. "Calm yourself down, Professor. If I was just a regular ol' human, I would be dead by now. But I'm not. I'm not normal. See?" he said, handing the thermometer back to Professor Sycamore. "I'm getting a coffee."
After a few moments of making the coffee, he calmly sipped it while it was piping hot, all while Professor Sycamore looked at his friend in shock. "You DO know you're supposed to wait until it cools down, right?" he asked meekly. "Yes, but I'm not going to burn my tongue." Lysandre replied, still sipping the coffee. "Wait a minute," Professor Sycamore said. "I think I've got a theory." Lysandre cocked an eyebrow. "A theory?" he asked sceptically. "Yes." Professor Sycamore replied enthusiastically. "Because you're more or less a fire dragon, maybe you're more resistant to heat and have a naturally higher body temperature because of that!" Lysandre was dumbfounded. "So what you're saying is that I'm abnormally more heat-resistant because of the whole dragon thing?" he asked again. Professor Sycamore nodded. "I think we should try and search for history on the weredragons here in Kalos!"
