Inspiration was based on an old game that I used to love and played when I was younger, I like some of the plot elements but there will otherwise be major differences.
I don't own My Hero Academia, only just the OC's and the plot of the story I have here!
I know, story starter, don't sue me.
I hope all of you are having a Happy winter and I hope you enjoy this story!
A lot had changed within the past month, This Izuku Midoriya knew.
Still felt pretty surreal yet The soreness in his body only proves him otherwise.
He's training to build up muscle in his body so that he'll be strong enough to be able to accept All Might's quirk without suffering any severe lethal backlashes.
And to do that he organized for him to clean up the beach of all the junk and garbage that's been piling up (and dumped at) for years and years as a way to build up muscle in different parts of his body besides in his arms and legs alone.
He still had 9 more months before the entrance exam for UA began, but still he wanted to get it all done with everything he has, even if it means going behind his mentor's back a little to try and get some more work done and give him enough time to be able to try and master the quirk without issue.
He was just loading up the last bit of garbage into the truck (so it could be deposited at the city dump properly) for today as his mentor, in his true form approached him.
"Good job Young Midoriya, you've made great progress today." All Might complimented. "Now it's time to get some rest and we can continue again tomorrow."
The boy nodded, while there was still much to do, he knew that if he stayed out later then his mom would worry, besides she wanted him to pick up a few spices on his way home so he's willing to do it.
Not to mention, that this would give him a chance to do an extra jog before coming home.
"There's still a lot to be done in the next 9 months, but I know you can do it. Just keep working hard and don't strain yourself." The man told him as Izuku smiled and nodded as he replied, "Right."
His mentor smiled back, proud of his protege for his dedication and earnest hard work as he looked into the distance, lost in thought.
Indeed for the man it seemed like only yesterday that he met the young man, He had gone from scrawny to making good progress in building up muscle, sure there was a lot of work that still needed to be done but he could definitely see the progress slowly but surely bearing fruit from his labor.
Giving his absolute all to do it, even if he stumbles and falls he gets back up, even when obviously sore he neither complains nor gripes about it, He just throws himself into it all no matter, in rain or shine.
Still... some days he couldn't help wanting to ask the young man how is life had been before they met as he knew all too well that the quirkless were treated badly.
He himself was quirkless before he met Nana.
And sure while back then the line between the quirked and the quirkless was a little more evenly split as back then a good number of people still had a relative or two that didn't have any special powers, it didn't change the fact that times had changed and he knew that quirklessness was only a 20% chance as 80% of the population on Earth did have a quirk, yet... those who did not have a quirk were treated like they were worthless.
He had honestly been hesitant to look up the reports on how bad it has gotten these days, There were too many things that were going on although a part of him believes that he was just making an excuse to compensate for his own hesitation.
All Might, Toshinori Yagi, was... afraid... to find out how much worse it was now.
... Afraid... To find out just how badly his chosen successor had been treated... and especially before they met...
He wasn't stupid, he knew that the world can be a cold and heartless place to live without anyone by your side to support you and be there for you.
No matter what he has faced over the years, no matter how many terrifying things he has encountered through his years of heroism, He knew it would never change the fact that everybody was scared of something, no matter how much one has faced.
He wanted to ask his successor, but he didn't want to pry, To this day he was still arguing with himself on whether or not he should.
While he had asked him how his day was here and there, he often said that it was fine, though he couldn't help but notice the boy's hesitation as he could easily tell that he was hiding something.
Always the bare minimum, never elaborating on what he did throughout his day, nor about school especially (It was very easy to tell as he was way more hesitant to speak about it)...
... He can at least say to his relief that home life was good and his mother was very loving and supportive of him, and was doing everything she could to make sure that he got the right diet and everything...
...Still...
It stung that Young Midoriya couldn't tell him what was really going on, While the man knew that everyone's entitled to their own privacy, it did not change the fact that sometimes It was better to let it out rather than keep it all bottled up because one way or another that bottle will pop its lid off.
He could only hope that someday he will tell him... That he'll trust him enough to tell the real truth to him...
"All Might?"
Called the voice of his successor as this brought the man out of his thoughts as he looked back to the boy who gave him a look of concern.
"Are you ok?" Young Midoriya asked him.
The man immediately shook his head before giving him a reassuring smile, a normal one, as he told him, "I'm fine my boy, just lost in thought, that's all."
Which was true.
"If you say so." The boy replied, Still a little concerned but nonetheless he took the man's word for it.
However, just as the young man was about to turn to head home, his eyes suddenly caught something in the distance on the left side of the beach.
He squinted his eyes, trying to see what it was.
Upon noticing this from the boy, The number one hero asked him if everything was alright.
But Izuku didn't answer as he walked closer to the end of the boardwalk near the stairs which led down to the sand as he looked even closer to try and identify what it was he was seeing.
It sounded a little silly but he had a feeling in his gut that he really should check it out, whether it was a hero's intuition or not, the boy knew that he wouldn't feel right until he saw what it was.
Concerned for the young man, Toshinori followed him down the stairs as he led the way, already having suspicion that he may have seen something that he himself hadn't.
Once he and his Hero were closer, The boy almost had a heart attack while the older man spat out blood in fright upon seeing a body sprawled on the beach on the left side.
It looked to be a girl, no older than him, she had extremely long, thick (equal parts well kept and yet messy at the same time), chocolate brown hair that reached down to her feet with Tufts of that hair on the sides of her head that naturally resembled that of ears that look like belong to an owl and long bangs that went down to above her nose and thus covered her eyes, And some of the bangs also were on the sides of her face which framed it, fair white skin like a princess, She had a light green rose hair clip on the right side of her head, long black sleeve turtleneck sweater with white around the collar, the bottom of it and around the torn cuffs, black pants that were quite ripped up yet somehow despite looking having been dragged through an active trash compactor they still held together, Well kept yet surprisingly old white running shoes with black at the bottom, and wore a long cape that was a mix of white, grey and black respectfully that was very torn up at the bottom as it looked pretty ragged, these clothes of which were all over size.
Alarmed, both men ran towards her, fearing the worst as they went to check to make sure whether or not she was alive.
Upon the hero checking her pulse around her neck and the boy doing the same by checking around her right wrist, after a moment they both breathed a heavy sigh of relief upon feeling it.
"She's alive." Izuku breathed out a breath he didn't know he was holding, More than relieved that they hadn't found a corpse.
"That's really good news there." Toshinori agreed as he quickly gave her once over to make sure she didn't have any broken bones or something before even thinking about moving her, upon his left hand touching her head briefly he immediately retracted when he saw her unconsciously flinch at the contact, letting out a very quiet but still barely audible groan.
"She doesn't have any broken bones, she appears to only be unconscious, and I think it's easy to tell that she must have gotten hit in the head pretty hard if the reaction is anything to go by. And chances are she probably might be hiding a few bruises under her clothes." He noted as upon closer inspection he could see that there was a bruise right there, not a heavy one thankfully but it was most certainly there, he then added, "Thankfully besides the bruising it doesn't appear that she has anything that would indicate that she's fatally wounded, of course I'm no doctor so I might be wrong."
"Hopefully she'll wake up soon so we can find out." Izuku said with concern as he placed her hand back down on the sand carefully before he, upon getting a closer look at her attire, couldn't help but notice something off, "All Might?"
"Yes?" He asked, looking back up to the greenette as he instantly (and practically) saw the gears turning in his head, curious to know what he was about to say.
"Her clothes look ... off." He explained, "And not just because of the fact that the outfit she's wearing looks to be too big for her, But I can't help but feel that they look... older than they should... They look like something modern someone would wear minus the cape but I can't get over this feeling that... these clothes look like they've been through a lot, almost like she has been traveling for ages through an ongoing war or something, been through the ringer a thousand times, holding on and yet still looks ratted and beaten up even with some of the obvious patch jobs up close."
Upon looking closer, he immediately noticed that too.
"You're right. It does appear that way, they look like they haven't been washed in ages and yet they're not giving off any stench that would indicate it. So they must be old, perhaps some really old hand-me-downs passed down for years and years." Toshinori said, giving his own deduction as he checked to make sure she wasn't running a fever as he placed his right hand on her forehead under her bangs, to his relief she didn't. And despite her already pale complexion she didn't have any indication that she was ill.
"Whatever she's been through it must be something extreme." Izuku could only guess.
Just then the two of them heard her groaning and she started moving a bit.
"She's waking up!" Izuku exclaimed in surprise.
Toshinori immediately went into All Might mode, hoping that his heroic presence will be enough to calm the girl if she were to wake up frightened.
"Are you ok?" Izuku asked as, upon seeing her slowly get up, he helped her to sit up gently on her legs, "Do you need help?"
The girl, groaned once more as her eyes were squinted shut, trying to push away the headache as she softly massaged her aching head with both of her hands.
Slowly she was able to open her eyes, blinking, trying to clear up the blurriness in her vision as, Even when she immediately knew that her eyes were covered by her bangs, she was able to nonetheless see through them.
In front of her, once her eyes were open fully, She saw two men before her, The first was a boy around her age and the other definitely looked older, tall and very muscular.
The boy looked a little short for someone his age but then again she herself was too (she could somewhat remember) and she could somehow tell that they were both about the same size, his round face is framed by a short mop of fluffy dark-green hair which curls up at odd angles around his head, casting noticeably dark shadows onto itself. His eyes are large and somewhat circular and his irises are the same shade of emerald green as his hair, which gave him an innocent, energized appearance. He had a set of four symmetrical freckles in diamond formations, one on each cheek. For his outfit he wore a turquoise tracksuit and bright red and black shoes. Despite appearing rather plain looking, to her he looked kind of adorable.
For the older man, he was massive with an equally muscular and well-defined physique, He had light yet deep healthy tan skin, He had chiseled features on his face with a strong jawline, pronounced cheekbones, and bushy yet slick sunflower blonde eyebrows. He had short sunflower blond hair, swept backward, with two distinct tufts sticking above his head, leaning slightly to each side that look like a V. He had a dark shadowing around his eyes, hiding everything but his bright blue irises. He wore a white short sleeve shirt that fit his muscle form perfectly, same went for his forest green pants which were held by a belt that had a very odd buckle she's never seen before, and brown outdoors shoes. This man was definitely someone who looked like could put every bodybuilder to shame as well as have many women swooning over his handsome appearance without even trying.
At least that's what she could tell from her own deductions.
She looked at them both very confused, Especially at the older man as she never thought anybody could ever get that muscular let alone that tall as he was enormous.
"Where... am I?" She asked, though a little hesitant.
To their relief, she didn't appear dehydrated, if her voice was any indication.
"Musutafu Japan, specifically Dagoba Municipal Beach." Izuku explained, internally surprised that he was able to talk to a girl.
"Musutafu...?" She questioned, still very confused, "Never heard of it."
This made both men look at each other, a little confused but otherwise still concern before turning back to her.
"Do you have a name?" the man asked her.
She had to think about it for a little while as her mind felt both like a blank yet felt kind of jumbled up for some reason she couldn't explain, but nonetheless she was able to remember what her name was.
"It's... Aurora..." She replied, "Aurora Doichiji... And you two?"
"i-i-I'm Izuku m-mi-Midoriya." The boy replied, stuttering from nerves.
"And I am All Might. Of course you probably must have heard of me before." The older man introduced himself.
Aurora only tilted her head to the left, clearly showing her confusion as she replied, "I'm sorry sir but I'm afraid I don't."
This startled both men in surprise.
"You mean you've never heard of him before?" Izuku asked incredulously.
"Nope." She said, shaking her head, Only to stop short as she winced as she placed her left hand on her head only to flinch, hissing in pain as she felt the bump on her head.
"Owchie!" She exclaimed in pain.
"Easy there!" All Might quickly told her, doing his best to keep her calm, "As you've already noticed you have a nasty bump on your head. Just take it easy for a bit."
"K." She replied.
"All Might, do you think we should take her to the hospital to make sure that things are alright?" Izuku asked his mentor as the man turned to him and nodded saying, "It would be best to make sure that she isn't suffering anything worse than bruising and a head injury."
"What's a hospital?" Aurora couldn't help but ask, confusion still present on her face.
Now this greatly shocked both males as they looked at her as if she said something unbelievable, which she had.
"Wh-what?!? Are you serious?!" Izuku shouted, shocked worse than any time before, excluding accidentally finding out All Might's secret, "You've really never heard of a hospital before?!"
"No, I'm afraid not." She replied, Now looking both worried and scared from their reaction, "Is ... that bad?"
"Young Doichiji, is there anything you can remember before you woke up??!" All Might then asked, struggling to try and keep himself calm from his own shock and concern, now starting to fear the worse.
Aurora, still frightened by their sudden reaction, started to ponder, only to draw a blank. Her fear started to get worse as she continually tried to remember what had happened to her before she woke up. Anything.
But nothing came.
What did she do before she was found here?
Nothing.
The year she was born?
Nothing.
Who were her parents?
Nothing.
Siblings??
Nothing.
Friends????
Nothing.
Was she even in school? She could at least remember her age and her day of birth, so she must surely be in school like any kid her age right??? ...Right?
But no. Nothing came. Just plain nothing.
She quickly started to tear up, clutching her head in her hands as she exclaimed, "The only things I remember is my name, My age and my day of birth but I can't remember anything else?!!! I can't remember anything!!! I CAN'T!! WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER?!?!?!?!?"
Their hearts were shattered from this, but none more so than the poor girl in front of them.
It was their worst case scenario come true...
... She has amnesia...
Placing a gentle but firm left hand on her right shoulder, All Might immediately told her, though gently, "Miss please calm down, I know you are upset and you have every right to, but you need to calm down, Please!"
"How can I?! I can't remember anything else!" She protested as she looked at him, feeling like she was going to fall apart.
"Because you're not alone here, we'll do everything we can to help you regain your memories." All might told her reassuringly, Not detered by any means.
"But how?!" She asked desperately, her voice more vulnerable as her tears came down like a cascading waterfall.
Even if neither of them could see her eyes, they knew that she was extremely upset.
She was then surprised from feeling a handkerchief pressed gently against her left cheek, drying up her tears as she turned to see none other than Midoriya who, Despite looking a little conflicted internally, gave her a look of concern yet hope, "We honestly don't know, not yet anyway. We understand however that this is extremely upsetting, anyone would be upset upon realizing that they can't remember anything about their lives. This is going to be difficult, but we will do everything we can to help and support you through it all."
All Might was surprised by his successors actions, As far as he understood normally he would be rather timid regarding any interaction towards girls. But... nonetheless he smiled as he could see that he was trying to help her to calm down too, proud of him being willing to step out of his comfort zone, Despite some bit of internal struggling he can see in his eyes, to help the person in front of him.
And to his relief it was working as the girl asked him, unsure but otherwise hopeful and thankfully calmer, "R-really?"
The boy, giving a calming smile, told her without a doubt, "Really. Will you let us help you?"
Aurora looked at him, then at All Might who gave her an assuring nod, then back to Midoriya as she eventually nodded, letting go of her head and accepting the handkerchief as he let go so she could wipe away her tears, sniffling as she started to calm down more.
The men took the time to look to the other. Practically reading each other's thoughts as they understood that they had to do everything they could to help her, but also remember that the case of amnesia was not a subject to be taken lightly. But nonetheless they had to be ready for anything.
But they also had to take into account that there were all types of amnesias, the fact that she even remembered her name, age and day of birth was a good sign, so hopefully She will remember more as time passes, but nonetheless it would be better to take her to a professional to make sure that everything is okay.
They nodded to the other as they turned back to her as It looked like she had finally stopped crying, and was sniffing less, as she handed the boy back his handkerchief, which was mostly drenched, as He accepted it and put it in his left hand pocket.
"I think it may be best to take her to UA so Recovery girl can see her. She has actually dealt with amnesiacs a number of times in the past, If there's anybody I can trust to help in this case, it would be her." All Might told them as he stood back up.
The two kids got up on their feet too, One more calmly though very confused as she's never heard of Recovery girl nor UA, while the other in haste as he exclaimed in surprise, "You mean The Youthful Heroine herself works at UA?!"
"That's right my boy," He answered, "In fact from the last I checked today, She should still be there as she had some business she needed to attend to before heading home. I'll give her a quick phone call and let her know of the situation."
He then excused himself as he pulled out his cell phone to make the call privately.
Aurora then turned to the greenette as she asked him, "Who is Recovery girl and what's a UA?"
Izuku had to stop himself from asking as he reminded himself that she has amnesia so of course she wouldn't know what either one was.
"Recovery girl is a hero whose quirk allows her to heal injuries of many types, She's saved a lot of lives because of it. And she may be an old woman by this point but that doesn't change the fact that she can still fight when needed. She's one of the few heroes that is known for having a healing quirk as most who do, though that type of quirk itself is rare, usually work as regular doctors at hospitals." Izuku told her, "And as for UA, It's a hero high school that teaches its students how to become heroes, They also offer normal schooling for those attending the general or business departments. And for those who attend the support department which in there allows its students to learn how to create gear and costumes for its future heroes and heroes in training. UA is known for being one of the best hero schools in all of Japan, even All Might attended and graduated from there years ago."
"Huh," She said in fascination.
It sounded odd yet somehow exciting. She then asked, "Hero... does that mean that it's a profession?"
The boy nodded and said, "To make the long story short, when quirks first manifested somewhere around 200 years ago, things quickly got out of hand and eventually the age of heroes and villains began. Those who wanted to do good and protect people became heroes who fought against tyranny and from villains who use their quirks to harm people and cause destruction. There's much more to be told but I don't mind telling you anymore if you are interested... That is, if you want to?" He said the last part with some bit of uncertainty, caught himself as he just realized whom he was talking with and the fact that he was somewhat rambling again.
But Looking back at her, he saw that she wasn't bothered nor irritated, or even disturbed. In fact it looked like she was really listening to him, really absorbing all of what he said like a sponge as she nodded and said, now smiling for the first time since they met, "Sure, I would love too."
He was surprised by this but otherwise smiled back.
He was internally relieved as he realized that she didn't ask anything about quirks, so that meant that she, probably at the very least, knew what a quirk was, which was a good thing.
Still in his mind he hoped that whatever type of amnesia she has it wasn't severe beyond not knowing what a hospital of all things was.
It was then that All Might came back as he told them, as they saw and turned to him, "Good News, she's free and will be expecting us to come as soon as possible."
"Great!" The kids both said with a nod.
Since Aurora had no clue where the exit was, The two offered to escort her there, All Might then telling them that he would fly them all to UA once they were off the sand as leaping off with great wind pressure, no matter how careful he usually was, with sand surrounding them would only end up with the kids getting sand in their eyes indefinitely, to which the duo agreed.
As they walked, Aurora suddenly tripped and accidentally bumped into Izuku to which he was startled but he managed to catch himself and her before they fell over.
However, the very moment she made contact with him did something happen.
Immediately she felt a sort of chiming "Ping" sensation go off in her head as she froze, The world seemingly freezing around her too as she witnessed What one can only describe as a vision.
"Are you ok?" Izuku asked as he turned to her, concerned and blushing like crazy.
"Y-yeah, I'm ok." (vision) Aurora replied, "Sorry about that."
Abruptly without warning they heard a metallic creaking sound as the duo looked up only to see a giant metal crate break off from the side and start to fall on top of them.
The two were screaming as they were about to be crushed to death, All Might being just a second too slow to save them as--!
Just as quickly as the vision came, it stopped as everything went back to normal as reality reset itself.
Immediately the girl instantaneously paled as she gasped sharply with fright, eyes widened in fear.
"Are you ok?" Izuku asked as he turned to her, concerned and blushing like crazy but then stopped short upon seeing her suddenly become frightened.
That made even more alarm bells go off in Aurora's head with enough urgency to make even military alarms look like silly noisemakers.
"WATCH OUT!!" She screeched as she immediately grabbed him and flung them both away as far as she could from where they stood.
Immediately after that, the familiar metallic creaking sound she'd heard in the vision prior came as the metal crate above broke off from the wall and fell, hitting the sand with a heavy "Kur-plump".
Upon seeing What would have happened Izuku yelped out in fright, "Whoa we could have been crushed to death!!!"
Aurora nodded shakily as she panted, still frightened but otherwise relieved that they were okay.
"ARE YOU TWO OK?!!" All Might asked in frantic fright and concern as he was immediately at their side, checking to make sure they weren't hurt.
"Y-yeah, we're fine." Izuku assured him as he helped Aurora, Who was struggling a bit from that abrupt action she made, to slowly get back on her feet as she accepted it upon being asked by him.
"That *pant*.. That was close." Aurora breathed out as she panted a bit more before inhaling deeply before exhaling it all out, equal parts relieved and reassuring herself that they were both okay.
She then looked back at where they had stood, somehow feeling an odd sense of deja vu yet feeling... rather perplexed.
How had she seen what was going to happen before it happened?
To which the older man asked her similarly, "How did you know that crate was going to fall on top of you both before it happened?"
"I... I don't know..." She replied, although she sounded way more uncertain about it herself.
More than that really, though it was really hard to explain, like she was both confused yet she knew what it was.
Internally she thought,'... Was it... my ... quirk...? ... Or not...?'
DONE!
If you guys have already guessed where I got my inspiration from for the story, then kudos to you! If not then just wait and see.
I may not be into That game franchise anymore but it doesn't change the fact that some of the plot elements from there can definitely inspire ideas and they can be applied, recycled and/or repurposed into other things as I've seen in other games before and such.
As always, leave your review here and I hope all of you are having a good day or night wherever you are. Until next time, TTFN!
