He clutched the note tightly in his hand. A beautiful pink color adorned with the sweetest perfume he was sure she would enjoy. With a smile and a confident step in his walk, Crispin walked into the Coastal Biome to his intended destination.
The Coastal Biome was beautifully and gave a welcoming presence. A presence and aura he very much hoped would help him in this endeavor that he spend the last three months trying to build courage up for. It had to work, it just had too.
Crispin's felt his cheeks become as red as his type specialty and he shook his head keeping his eyes on the price. The stadium where the League battles where held. He walked into, ignoring the people around him as well as the nagging voice in his head telling him it was a bad idea.
There she stood. Deep in talk with to his surprise, Carmine.
Lacey.
The battling prodigy obsessed with cuteness, and undeniably cute girl herself. Crispin felt the redness return to his cheeks. His steps where now slow and thoughtful. There was no turning back now. The hour was finally at hand, this plan could not possibly fail.
Before he managed to walk up to her and hand her the note he heard her speak.
"Oh he is just such a cutie!" Lacey said pressing her hands to her blushing cheeks.
Crispin stood dead in his tracks upon hearing those words spoken. His lips widened into a smile.
"She's talking about me!" Crispin thought excitedly.
He watched with enthusiasm as Lacey seemingly fawned over him. I mean it had to be him right? Right….
"Yeah I guess…" Carmine responded sheepishly.
"What's wrong? Last I checked you where all about him. How he's so brave and strong and…"
"I get the point!" Carmine said gritting her teeth and standing in her signature pose of holding her clutched fists right in front of her face.
"Wait Carmine thinks I'm brave and strong…" the thought of Carmine thinking that of him surprised Crispin as just earlier this week she threatened to throw him into the nearby Coastal Biome sea for offering her a way too spicy sandwich.
"But you didn't say a word too much. He's such a cutie, he even complimented my Excadrill. Oh I can't wait to ask him to the winter formal!" Lacey squealed.
Crispin's eyes lit up like an Arboliva using Recover. She was really going to ask him out to the winter formal.
"Wait…" Carmine asked "you plan to ask Florian out…"
Tense silenced filled the area, or at least that's how it felt to Crispin as the words Carmine just spoke repeated in his ears. Everything seemed to go in slow motion as the note slowly slipped from his hands and dropped onto the floor.
"Oh absolutely. Unless of course…you wanted to do so first?" Lacey asked with a sly smile and a raised eyebrow. A flustered Carmine blushed bright red and stuttered together a sentence that sounded like.
"No…of course not…go right ahead" she finally spoke while crossing her arms and holding her head up high.
"I will" Lacey smirked confidently as she walked past Carmine, who grunted and clenched her fists and betrayed the look of irritation on her face. All the while Crispin stood there frozen in shock. His entire idea and plan completely and utterly in ruins.
A/N: Something new for you guys, unfortunately a short first chapter but I'm currently dealing with a case of bronchitis and as such have to take it easy but regardless hope you all enjoy this all the same.
