Disclaimer: Own absolutely nothing
Claribeth and implied future Reynabeth Pipabeth polyamory as well at the end.
(Aged up the characters in this since there's sex in this. Still had Annabeth and Clarisse be seventeen, but still wanted to age them up if they're having sex)
Being there when she needs her
First date: The first date goes a lot better than either the nearly eighteen-year-old Clarisse, or the seventeen-year-old Annabeth for that matter expected. Aside from the surprised staring that Annabeth was going out with someone that was not Percy Jackson,-the camp was still adjusting to the knowledge that Percy was now dating another girl from camp, a daughter of Apollo named Sharon, and Annabeth had started a relationship with Clarisse la Rue. But it goes more smoothly than either of them expected. And it's nice, sitting by the lake, looking out at the lake and sharing hot cocoa and marshmallows. Clarisse and Annabeth share a soft look as the sun sets. They think they'll do this again. In fact, they're sure of it.
Rage: Clarisse didn't know she was capable of such rage when she learns from Percy Jackson that Annabeth has been kidnapped by Luke and his minions. She almost killed the sea spawn. She had her hands around his neck and had lifted him right up off the ground when he had told her. It had taken all four Chiron, Talia, Malcolm Chase and Bianca Angelo to get her to release him. Rage unlike anything Clarisse had known had come out of her. And when it was decided that there should be five that were to be sent after Annabeth to get her back, Clarisse had told Zoe Nightshade to "Go fuck herself," and that she was going instead. Little did she know that that changed a prophecy.
Hero: When Clarisse rescued Bianca from that giant, metal creature from the junkpile, she didn't feel like a hero. Sure, Bianca treated her like one and smiled gratefully at her, but Clarisse didn't feel it. She hadn't gotten Annabeth back. She would feel like a hero when she had her girlfriend back in her arms. She knew that that was a very base and stereotypical macho thing to feel, but she couldn't help it.
World: The world was falling-or rather the sky. Clarisse didn't know any other way to sum it up, except for that. All she knew was that Jackson and Bianca were dealing with the Luke's minions on one end and Talia and Grover were dealing with Luke's other minions. Also, as she found out, Atlas was Zoe's father. After hearing the prophecy about a parent trying to kill their kid, Clarisse was rather happy that Zoe hadn't been here. They didn't need one of their number dying on top of everything else. But as for now? The world was falling. It was hard to explain, but Annabeth was holding up the sky and Clarisse could see the strain it was having on her. Seeing the white streak in Annabeth's hair, Clarisse assumed that Annabeth holding up this sky was the reason why. So without giving a second thought, Clarisse ran to Annabeth and pushed her out of the way and held up the sky instead, feeling her body strain, not even noticing a streak of white growing in her hair as she did this. She would see later on that Annabeth had a strand of white in the young girl's blonde locks, as well.
Decision: When the six triumphant heroes, five demigods and one satyr arrived at Mount Olympus, it was decided that the cow creature that Percy had named "Bessie"-apparently a "Ophiotaurus," was to be kept in Olympus in a tank and under observation. As for what was to happen to the three demigods who were children of one of the big three? That was complicated. Bianca had already agreed to become a hunter with Artemis, so the daughter of Hades was no longer an issue. Talia, however, proved to be a non-issue too, since she swore herself to Artemis right there and then and was made a hunter, despite her father's protests. That only left Percy, the son of Poseidon. All of the gods, save for Ares, Athena and Dionysus voted for Percy to be given a chance to not turn on the gods, much to Annabeth's disgust, when she saw that her mother voted for Percy to die, but she hadn't missed how when Percy had thought she had been about to become a hunter and had tried to stop her, Clarisse had nodded and asked if Annabeth was sure that this was what she wanted. Only for it to turn out that Annabeth wasn't joining the hunters. Talia was.
Happiness: In the afterparty of Olympus, after the debate, Annabeth confronted Clarisse and asked her about it. She wanted to know why when Percy had made the mistake of believing that Annabeth had been about to become a hunter, rather than Talia, and had wanted to stop Annabeth from going with Artemis, why Clarisse had just resigned herself to Annabeth going with Artemis and had just nodded and told Annabeth in the council room while the gods were debating, that she just wanted Annabeth to be happy with the hunters. Clarisse simply answered truthfully, "Because I just wanted you to be happy. Even if you were going to be with the hunters, I wanted you to have a happy life with them." Annabeth was stunned. While Percy had tried to stop her, when he had mistakenly believed that she would be joining Artemis instead of Talia, and he had only cared about her staying with him. But Clarisse, her now girlfriend had just wanted her to be happy?
Blessing: Clarisse's selflessness had not been lost on Athena either. She had watched Percy and Annabeth in their first quest together and had watched with displeasure at Percy's stupidity of how he treated Annabeth. In contrast, Clarisse was a big improvement. Not only had Clarisse taken the sky that Atlas always hoisted up, taking it from Annabeth when the strain had become too much, but had also been willing to let Annabeth go if it meant that Annabeth would be happier with Artemis and her hunters. Instead of trying to get her to stay like Percy had tried to when he had mistakenly believed that Annabeth was going with Artemis and her hunters, Clarisse had been happy for Annabeth, even though she had been saddened at the thought of her girlfriend leaving. That was why when Athena confronted Clarisse after the party, she had given Clarisse her blessing, much to the daughter of Ares's shock. Clarisse honestly hadn't been expecting Athena of all gods to give her, a daughter of Ares her blessing.
Drained: The many dates that come between the first and now are warm, protective and often intense. But they decided both that they were ready for the next part of their relationship. Annabeth was sure of it and so was Clarisse. Clarisse asked if Annabeth was sure and Annabeth agreed. Now they are here, lying down almost naked, with a layer of deer skin that Clarisse had hunted for covering their bodies. Clarisse had been practical. She had cleaned the skin effectively after taking it from the deer that she had brought to camp for food. So no need to worry about bugs or dirt or blood. It was very useful now as a blanket. And it was so nice to lie under it after the long, long night they had. Annabeth laid her head against the other side of the pelt, looking at Clarisse with love and affection, sweat clinging to her forehead as well as her sweat soaked curls that were clinging to her face. Clarisse was equally as sweat-soaked, though Annabeth was sure that Clarisse had given Annabeth far more reasons to be sweaty tonight than she had managed to give Clarisse-but she'd never tell anyone that.
Liar: Annabeth told herself again and again, no she didn't love Clarisse. Sure, she loved Clarisse as a friend, but not like that. She tells Clarisse this too. She thinks Clarisse will look hurt or pretend that she doesn't care. But Clarisse's actual reaction scares Annabeth more than she'd like to admit. Clarisse smirks confidently at Annabeth. "Liar." She says. The worst part is Annabeth can't come up with a comeback.
Madness: The labyrinth causes madness, that Clarisse is sure of after seeing Chris Rodriguez in the Hermes Cabin, crying and sobbing. It hurts to hear Annabeth agreeing to go, because Clarisse fears for her. She insists on going with Annabeth, as well as Percy and Grover and Tyson. They already know they're taking a big risk. But all five Clarisse, Talia, Bianca, Percy and Grover came back last time, even though the number was not the sacred "Three," and Talia and Bianca had ended up joining the hunters with Artemis. So why not take another chance? Besides, there was no way Clarisse was allowing Annabeth to go into that dangerous place without her.
Defeat: Watching that almost demonic son of Poseidon die in the sand pit, and watching Luke retreat had been satisfying, deeply satisfying. But what wasn't so satisfying was Annabeth's worry for Luke. Clarisse knew that Annabeth still thought of Luke as an older brother, but Clarisse still worried every now and then that Annabeth would let her guard down and when she did, that was when Luke would slit the blonde girl's throat. The thought made Clarisse hug Annabeth even tighter whenever they laid together.
Loss: After the battle between Luke and their side, Luke dying, sacrificing himself, Clarisse knows that Annabeth needs someone. She holds Annabeth and doesn't let her go as Annabeth sobs into her neck. They are alone, in the woods, watching the rest of the camp move on with life. But as life is moving on, Annabeth suffers. Only now has she allowed herself to weep and to break and Clarisse is the one who she confides in as she breaks. They make love that night. That night it's different from any of their other times together. That night it's soft, heartbreaking, gentle and is exactly what they both need that time.
Missing: Percy goes missing, months after Luke's death. Annabeth doesn't take it well. No, she and Percy aren't together, but Percy has become like a brother to her. And him being missing as well as Talia not being here and Luke dying is as the saying goes "the straw that broke the camel's back." Annabeth grabs everything and insists on a search for Percy. Sharon agrees and comes with them. Clarisse goes too. Anything to make Annabeth happy.
New demigods: It's their endeavors looking for Percy that lead Clarisse, Annabeth and Sharon to find Jason Grace, Talia's long lost brother who had been raised in New Rome and had lost his memories, Leo Valdez, a little wisecracker who turned out to be a son of Hephaestus and Piper McLean, the daughter of Aphrodite, and as Clarisse would soon learn, not just a comrade in arms, but bedmate and someone who she would be sharing love with Annabeth with. This would be the case, as well, when they met another woman, a Roman, named Reyna Avila Ramirez Arellano, the daughter of the Roman goddess, Bellona.
Author's note
I'm sure a lot of these segments come off as if I dislike Percy. It's not that. I just was trying to navigate how Clarisse might react in these specific situations, so there's no intentional bashing.
