Chapter 13
We Won
Later that day. Mikasa and Armin were with Eren with the other Garrison people, who were deciding Eren's fate. Kara was with the others as they waited for new orders. Kara was pacing. They were all on a gag order, but Kara was worried about Eren. Jean was explaining to Ymir and Christa what happened. Kara and Marco stood with Daz who was having a panic attack. Sasha was sitting on a box not far away.
"Those things, they just kept coming. It's a nightmare!" Daz said.
"Take it easy!" Marco said. Daz gripped Marco's jacket.
"I watched those monsters eat my squad. I saw my friends eaten and I didn't even really feel anger or sadness about the whole thing. All I could think was, Better you than me!" Daz said. Jean was watching and him and Kara look at each other. Kara shook her head as Daz grabbed his head. "But soon my number'll be up, too. That'll be it. The end. Kaput. Game over." A wagon comes rolling by with ingured soldiers. "We're suposed to fight those Titans until they eat every last one of us! I don't want to be eaten. Screw that!" Kara's eyes widen as Daz grabbed his sword. Marco had to grab Daz.
"Hey! Come on. Keep it together, okay? You're not alone, you know! We're all fighting back our fear." Marco said. He looked at Sasha. "Look at Sasha! Even after what she's seen, she remains a proper solder." Sasha grabs her stomach and let's out a pained cry. Marco gasps and Kara rubs her temples.
"Oh. My stomach aches. Please cart me away with the wounded." Sasha said. Daz and Marco stare at her and Daz pulls his sword out more.
"Lemme die! I just wanna die!" Daz yelled.
"Hold on! Stop it!" Marco said. Kara heads over to Jean, who was drinking water next to Reiner and Bertholdt. Jean handed her the water canister. Kara took it and took a long drink.
"Well the order to keep our mouths shut makes perfect sense now. As if the situation isn't bad enough already. If they knew about Eren.." Jean said. Kara sighed as she leaned against the wall.
"Its not gonna keep hidden long." Kara said.
"She's right." Reiner said. Jean nodded. A cannon fire came and everyone gasped in surprised. Kara and Jean ran out with Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt.
"Cannon fire?" A cadet said.
"But why just one shot?" Kara asked.
"Look! Smoke!" A Garrison Soldier said, pointing towards the wall.
"It's inside the wall!"
Jean, Kara, and Reiner ran out and looked at the wall. Smoke was coming up over the wall.
"What the hell?" Kara said.
"Did it bust down the water gate?"
"Impossible. It's teh sturdiest part of the whole wall."
"Maybe they set off a shell by accident?"
"But then why is there so much smoke?"
"Jean." Kara said. Jean looked at her as Reiner grabbed the handles of his ODM gear. "What the hell is going on?" Reiner sent hooks flying and disappears.
"I don't know. HEY!" Jean calls. Annie and Bertholdt goes after Reiner. "Stay here with the others. I'll go find out." Jean soon follows after them. Ymir and Christa come up to Kara.
"Okay. Spill. What's going on?" Ymir said. Kara sighed.
"I'm still under a gag order, but I'm sure everyone is going to find out soon. They can't keep that smoke a secret." Kara said. Kara sighed as Daz was still freaking out. "Marco. Just knock him out." Marco shot her a glare.
"Poor guy." Christa said.
"Least he's going to the Garison. I don't think he make it with the Scouts." Ymir said.
It felt like a few hours but soon everyone was ordered to gather in a courtyard. Jean, Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie join them.
"What's going on." Marco said.
"Pyxis and Eren are coming up with a plan to plug the hole in the wall." Reiner said.
"With what?" Ymir asked.
"It will be explained soon. Can't believe Armin came up with this ridculous idea." Jean said.
"Ackerman." Ian said, coming over.
"Sir?" Kara asked.
"Your needed up on the wall. We'll explain when we get up there." Ian said. Everyone looked at Kara in surprise.
"Yes, sir." Kara said. Jean opens his mouth to say something, but closes it as Kara goes to follow Ian away and head up to the wall.
"Will you just admit it already." Reiner said, punching his arm.
"Ow. I will when we win this fight." Jean said.
"He's just to chicken to admit it." Ymir said.
"He actually kissed her before we started fighting the Titans." Marco said. Everyone turned to Jean. Jean's checks were red.
Kara came up to the wall.
"You and the other Ackerman will be protecting the Titan Boy from Titans. Go join the others and everything will be explained." Ian said. Kara saw Mikasa and Armin knelt by a map with Anka and a few others.
"Guys." Kara said. She ran over and knelt next to them.
"Kara." Armin said.
"I'm helping protect Eren. What's going on?" Kara said.
"He's using his Titan form to use the boulder to cover the hole in Trost." Mikasa said. Kara's eyes widen.
"ATTENTION!" Pyxis voice echoed through the walls. Kara looked to see Eren standing by the Commander.
'Dad wasn't joking when he said Pyxis could be loud.' Kara thought.
"Take note. The blueprint of the Trost Recovery Operation is this. Our primary objective is to reseal the hole. Yes, you heard right. What's more, it will be done manually." Pyxis said. Silence filled the crowd below. Everyone was staring up at Pyxis in shock. "As for how the task will be done, that's where this fellow comes in." Pyxis turns towards Eren, who steps forward and does a salute. "Allow me to introduce Cadet Eren Jaeger." Everyone gasps down below. "Don't let appearances deceive you. This young man is in fact the successful product of cutting-edge science. Fantastic as this may sound, Cadet Jaeger possesses the ability to fabricate and control a Titan body, at will. Recall the massive boulder roughly a league from the gate. Having assumed Titan form, Cadet Jaeger will hoist said boulder on his back, schlep it to the hole, and voila! And this is where you all come in. Your job will be to defend him. Yes. Defend a Titan against his own kind.
"What do you mean we don't actually need to fight them?" Gustav asked. Kara turned to Amrin, Anka, and Gustav as they looked at a map.
"There's an easier way. Sorry, I know it's not my place to interrupt. I mean no disrespect." Armin said.
"It's alright. Just go on with what you were saying." Gustav said.
"Right. Thank you, sir. See, whatever else is going on around them, Titans are generally drawn to large groups of people. If enough of us collected in the corner away from the breach, we could lure the Titans our of Eren's path. He could be discrete about moving the boulder. He also won't have to slow his pace while we fight the others off of him. And since the Titans will all be in one area, we can pick them off via cannon fire without incurring causalities of our own. Now I'm not suggesting we leave Eren defenseless. That'd be to risky. We'll need a modest band of Elites to act as his bodyguards. There's no way of knowing how many Titans might come through the hole while he's trying to patch it up." Armin said.
"That's why they brought you up." Mikasa said, looking at Kara as Armin talked.
"Looks like it." Kara said.
"The thing is, we're making a huge assumption here. Namely that Eren even on full on Titan mode is strong enough to move the rock. I mean to be perfectly honest, there's very little reason for us to suppose he can. I have my doubts. Serious ones." Armin said.
"As do I. Sending people to their doom on a whim isn't a tactic I'm fond of. Uncertainty's killed to many already. But the Commaner's right. We have to do this." Gustav said.
"Agreed. We're working against the clock here. Titans are still lumbering into Trost as we speak. There already maybe more than we can handle, frankly. The longer we wait, the worse our chances of success become." Anka said.
"And it goes without saying, the better our chances they'll bust through Wall Rose, and wreak untold havoc." Gustav said.
"There's something else, too. Even the bravest of us can't idefinitely bottle our fear. Not before something gives." Anka said. Kara and Mikasa share looks. Shouts of disbelief could be heard from down on the ground. Kara knew people weren't believing what they were believing.
'Wonder what Hange will do when she finds out about Eren?' Kara thought.
"Anyone wishing to leave will by my personal order not be charged with treason!" Pyxis said. Mikasa and Kara look back at Pyxis. "those who have seen a Titan first hand will not be expected to revisit such horror again. Whoever this applies to, you may leave with my blessing. Additionally, anyone with family or loved ones they would spare from the same trauma may also leave." Kara was not going to leave, but she wondered if any of her friends were going to leave. "The crown will continue to reconize your service. Thank you and good luck!" Kara looked at Armin and Mikasa.
"I wonder if any of our friends left." Mikasa said.
"Daz probably. He wanted us to kill him before all this meeting." Kara said. Armin shook his head.
"Now think back four years ago. Namely, the operation to retake Wall Maria. I bring it up because you all deserve to have your suspicions confirmed. Officially, we labeled it reconnaissance. But in fact, as most of you probably know, it was little more than a purge; a thinly disguised exercise in population control. We knew this in our hearts, of course we did. Yet we turned a blind eye." Pyxis said. Kara gritted her teeth. She heard talks around the Scouts about it and thought it was talks, but now Pyxis confirmed it.
'Will it happen again if we don't save Trost and they break through Wall Rose?' Kara thought.
"We supported the state-sponsored myth because the deaths of our fellow human beings allowed us to survive. Pure and simple. The guilt is ours. We share the blame. All of us. The citizens of Wall Maria sustained themselves on the wholesale slaughter of the refugees who'd flown to us for help. But turnabout is fair play, is it not? If Wall Maria succumbs, the population will fall by a whole other order of magnitude! The lands comprising Wall Sina wouldn't support half the people now living. If we're wiped off of the face of the earth, the culprits will not have been the Titans, let me assure you. No, no. We'll have done it to ourselves. If the line isn't drawn now, it won't be drawn at all. If we must die, let us die here!" Everyone stayed in silence. Kara bit her bottom lip as they all look at Pyxis.
'The old man may be crazy at times, but when it comes to forming a plan. He goes for it.' Kara thought.
Plans were in place where a huge group will lure away titans to one corner. Kara and Mikasa would be with Rico, Ian, and Mitabi protecting Eren. Armin was heading to help lure the Titans.
"I'll let Jean know where you are." Armin said, running off.
"Um. Thanks?" Kara said. She ran with the others down the wall.
'Hope the others stay safe.' Kara thougth as they ran.
"Let's get this straight right now. Whatever you are, all I care about is getting that rock in place. Can we count on you?" Ian asked.
"Yes, sir! I won't let you down." Eren said.
"You're absolutely sure you're gonna be alright to do this?" Mikasa said. Sweat was falling from Eren's face.
"I got it." Eren said.
"Are you sure?" Kara asked.
"How many times you want me to say it? You just go do your job and I'll do mine." Eren said. Rico got in between Mikasa and Eren.
"Look, now's not the time to be playing house." Rico said.
"Come on, it isn't like that." Eren said.
"I'm gonna say what we're all thinking here. The fact the fate of mankind depends on a little brat like you doesn't make me hopeful." Mitabi said. Mikasa and Kara glared at the soldier.
"All of you, stop it, right now! We're about to be in range of the Giant boulder! I am not seeing any titans nearby. The Decoy strategy must be doing the trick." Ian said. Kara closed her eyes for a minute and opened them.
"Something I want you to aware of, Jaeger. Make no mistake. More than a few of our comrades are going to die today trying to pull this off. Their blood's on your hands. I'm talking friends. Captains. Lieutenants. Peons. Yes, they are soldiers. They are prepared to die. But remember, every one of them is a flesh and blood person. Every one of them has dreams. Hopes. Fears. Every one of them has a name. Alyosha. Dominic. Fine. Isabel. Ludwig. Martina. Guido. Hans. They're not pawns. They're people. Some have been living together like family since their cadet years. This may well be the end of them. Whole families snuffed out in a moment. Whatever you think your mission is, Jaeger, your first and foremost concern today is making sure their deaths mean something." Rico said. Jean was standing on a roof with Conny, Annie, and a few other soldiers. Titans wer swarming around. Armin had told him that Kara was with Mikasa, protecting Eren. He was still realing at the thought they had to protect the suicidal maniac from Titans.
'Stay safe, Kara.' Jean thought, gritting his teeth.
"Whatever happens, you keep that lodged in your mind. Take everything that comes with deadly seriousness." Rico said. Eren clenched his jaw.
"Right!" Eren said. They were nearing the boulder.
"This is the place! Let's do it!" Ian called. They ran to the side of the wall and jump off. Kara and Mikasa stayed behind Eren as they head towards the boulder. A green smoke signal is shot in the air by Rico. Eren was using roofs to head for the boulder.
'We can do this. We seal up the Wall in Trost. We can do the same for Wall Maria. This is history in the making.' Kara thought as they moved with skill towards the Boulder. Eren reached the boulder and bit down on his hand. Kara gasped as gold light surrounded him. Kara and Mikasa land on a roof as Eren's Titan form came out of the smoke. The Titan roars. It stops and looks at the boulder. He wasn't doing anything. He turns towards Mikasa and Kara. Kara's eyes widen. Something wasn't right. He pulls his arm back.
"Mikasa!" Kara yells as she tackles Mikasa out of the way as Eren punches where she stood. Blood hits Kara's face as Mikasa was cut by debree. They hit the roof.
"Thank you. What the hell is going on?" Mikasa said.
"I don't think he has control!" Kara said as they stood up. Eren was looking at them. He goes for another punch.
"Ackermans! Look out." Ian yelled. Mikasa and Kara jump in two seperate ways as Eren punches the roof again. Mikasa sends hooks flying into Eren's face and lands on his face, holding his hair. "Hey! Ackerman! Stand down! Now! Get away from him. That's an order!"
"Eren! I know you're in there somewhere. I know you reconize me! That's right! Come on! Snap the hell out of it! We've got a breach to seal up!" Mikasa said. A gunshot rang out and a red smoke signal went up. Kara gritted her teeth. This mission can't be a failure. "Eren! Listen to me! You're human!" Kara gasped as she saw Eren's fist clench up.
"Mikasa! Get out of there!" Kara yelled. Mikasa jumps out of the way just in time as Eren punches himself in the face. Eren's hands were smoking as he fell back against the boulder. He was not moving.
"Damnit Eren." Kara said.
"What the hell? You telling me the kid was a regular Titan all along?" Mitabi asked.
"Eren!" Mikasa yelled.
"Captain. We've got two Titans bearing down on us from the front; a ten meter and a six meter!"
"Heads up! There's a twelve meter closing in on us from the rear!"
"Ian, that's it. Please. Just look at him. We need to get out of here; the plan's a bust." Mitabi said.
"Agreed. Full withdrawal. We have to leave him as he is." Rico said. Mikasa and Kara turned and glared at them. Ian gasped and looked away.
"I'm not gonna leave him alone." Kara said.
"Neither am I." Mikasa said. Kara looked back at Eren.
'Come on. I don't want to hear Jean complaining we failed for a month.' Kara thought.
"Ian! Snap out of it! What are you waiting for? Give the order! Hey, it's not like this is your fault! Come on! Look, this plan was doomed from the start! We all get that. Was it worth a shot? Sure, whatever! We did the best with what we had! But all we've got left now is going back over the wall." Mitabi said. He starts walking away, making Mikasa gasp. Mikasa goes after him, but Ian stopped her.
"Stop! Now's not the time." Ian said. Ian looked at the others. "Team Rico, take out the 12-meter approaching from behind. Team Mitabi and I will handle the two front runners." Rico and Mitabi looked surprised.
"Are you nuts?" Rico asked.
"In case you've forgotten, I'm the one in charge! Now do as you're ordered, soldier! We are not leaving jaeger defenseless, period!" Ian said. Rico stepped back. Kara had to bite her lip from smirking. "Change of plans. Our job now is to keep the others off him until he can be recovered. Whether we like it or not, he's still our last best chance. We're not about to abandon him. We're expendable; he isn't. He can't just be replaced." Kara looked at Eren. He was still smoking, like he was healing or something.
"Please! Don't talk to me about our last best chance! He's a failure countless soldiers have died because of! Just look at him, Ian!" Rico said. She pointed at Eren. "Are you saying you want more of us to die saving that?" Ian gritted his teeth.
"That's right. Down to the last man! If that's what it takes, so be it!" Ian said. Rico and Mitabi gasped.
Jean used his hooks to bring himself up onto the wall where Conny and Marco were. He came up to them.
"What the hell's up with the red smoke? What happened to him?" Jean asked.
"I don't know, but Armin's gone to see. But I.. I think it'll be alright." Marco said.
"Yeah?" Jean said.
"Of course! I mean.. this is Eren we're talking about." Marco said.
"Right." Jean said. He knew Kara and Mikasa were with him and both were good soldiers, but he still was wroried about Kara.
"I don't wanna be that guy, but this whole thing feels kind of pointless." Conny said.
"Hell, when's the last time a fight against the Titans didn't feel like that, huh? The best thing now? Do what we can from losing any more." Jean said. Conny walked away.
"I don't like the idea of so many of us being dead for nothing." Conny said. Jean gritted his teeth and turned towards Conny.
"We have to pick our battles. If we want to wage all-out war someday, we have to conserve all the manpower we can. This was the right call. Just be patient." Jean said.
"Was it the right call, though?" Conny asked.
"Yes! Of course it was!" Jean said, getting agrivated with this arguement.
"Live to fight another day, is that it?" Conny said. He turned to look at Jean. "Right. I'm in. I want to see you confess to Kara your feelings. You two already look cute together." Jean felt his checks heat up.
"Don't make me push you off this wall." Jean grumbled.
Kara was about to go kill the Titans as Rico continued to argue with Ian.
"Ian, you can't be serious!" Rico yelled.
"What other hope against the Titans do we have? You know something I don't? This is it. This is all we've got, and you damn well know it! I am making the judgement call here. If you have a better plan, speak up! How else are we ever going to get out from under their feet? I'm all ears here!" Ian asked.
"If you're asking me how else we'll defeat the Titans, obviously I have no idea." Rico said.
"See? That's why we can't afford to beat a retreat. Not just yet. We may not know what else is in there, but there's hope. And as long as that's the case. We're gonna fight to the bitter end. Look at us. Always scraping by. Always on the run. Don't you.. Don't you want it to be over? Don't you want to make a stand? Well, this is how it's done!" Ian looked at Kara and Mikasa. Both held their ground and had determined looks on their faces. Rico gritted her teeth.
"This is just.. This is madness." Rico said. She turned and walked away.
"Hey!" Kara called.
"I think you're right." Rico said. Ian gasps. "If we're to stand, this is the only way." Rico turned to look at Ian. "Just this once. Let's fight a fight that's not just a battle of attrition. Let the bastards taste humanity's wrath. Right. My team will address the 12 meter Titan coming from the rear." Rico walks away. Mitabi runs to deal with the other two. Mikasa walked up to the Captain.
"Thank you, Captain. That was brave." Mikasa said.
"No, it wasn't. There's no thanks needed. Fact of the matter is I was pertrified of the mess you were about to get into. But you're free now. So do your thing. You and Kara make good use of that inborn skill." Ian said, pulling out his sword.
"Sir." Kara and Mikasa said.
"Go save the man you love, Mikasa." Ian said. Kara snorted as Mikasa looked down.
"It's not like that." Mikasa said. Ian disappeared. Kara looked at Eren.
"Mikasa." Kara said.
"What is it?" Mikasa asked.
"His injuries are not healing. Did the earlier damage compromise him?" Kara said. Mikasa saw she was right.
"Oh, Eren. What is this doing to you?" Mikasa whispered. She goes silent. Kara worried Eren might not be able to change back if they didn't do something to help him. Kara scanned around and gasped. More Titans were approaching from other directions.
"We need to help and protect Eren. Let's go." Kara said, running across the roof. Mikasa quickly followed. Kara flipped out of the way of a titan hand. She latched onto a roof and quickly connected to a nape of one of the Titans. She slashed into the neck and it fell on the roof. Mikasa and Kara quickly started backing up Mitabi and Ian's team. Mikasa killed one as it went after Mitabi. Kara and Mikasa landed on the roof.
"Son of a bitch!" Ian called. Kara turned and her eyes widen. A 13 metter had climbed onto the roof.
"Its about to pounce on Eren!" Kara yelled.
"Heads up we got more coming through the gate!" A soldier yelled.
"Damn it." Kara whispered.
"All of them 10 meters at least!"
Kara and Mikasa saw a bunch of Titans coming through the gate.
"Right! Rear! Ackerman! Yours!" Ian said.
"Sir!" Mikasa said. She ran back.
"Keep it away from him at all costs. You. Back her up with keeping Titans away from Jaeger." Ian said, looking at Kara.
"Sir!" Kara said, sending hooks flying to another roof as she saw Titans coming towards Eren. Mikasa took down the titan about to pounce on Eren. Kara yelled as she slashed through the neck of another. Kara landed on a roof. Titans were approaching from other directions.
'Where are they coming from. There aren't enough of us to attract this many. Unless they are coming for Eren. Fuck.' Kara thought. Mikasa was watching as well.
"Mikasa! Kara!" Armin's voice came. Kara gasped as she saw Armin standing next to Eren. "Why'd the plan go belly up?"
"Armin?" Kara and Mikasa yelled at the same time.
"Why on earth is he just slumped here like this?" Armin asked.
"Get away. It's dangerous!" Mikasa said.
"Something went wrong. He lost control and wound up like that! Mikasa tried to snap him out of it!" Kara said. Armin turns to look at Eren.
"I couldn't get him to respond. He's been out like this for the past few minutes." Mikasa called.
"But the plan?" Armin asked.
"We've had to shift tac. Right now all we can do is protect him. He's defenseless. And there's.. There's just so many. I don't know how much longer we can keep this up!" Kara called. Armin gasps and grits his teeth as he looks at Eren. Armin pulls out his sword.
"Armin!" Mikasa called.
"I'm pulling him out of here! You and Kara hold off the other Titans as long as you can!" Armin called. He walked towards the nape.
"But.." Kara called.
"When Eren first emerged from this form, it was from the weak spot." Armin said. He lifts up the swords. He hooks into Eren. "I dunno. But something tells me that's a big part of the picture. How these damn things work. It'll be alright. As long as I don't hit the center." Armin readies his sword. Armin brought down the sword.
"NO!" Mikasa yelled. Kara's eyes widen as Eren's Titan raors. He starts swinging around and Armin holds on for dear life.
"Stop it! You'll get yourself killed!" Mikasa yelled.
"I'm fine! Just do what you can to keep the rest at bay! Trust me, there's tons of other people you should be worried about! Now leave Eren to me and go do what you do best!" Armin said.
"Mikasa. Let's go. He's right." Kara said, running across the roof. She hoped Armin could help Eren. Kara hoped Jean and the others were alright as she ran across the roof. Mikasa right behind her. Screams fill the air as a soldier was heading for a Titans mouth to be eaten. A titan attacks Mitabi and Ian's team.
"I'll help Team Mitabi. You help Ian!" Mikasa said. Kara nodded. Mikasa killed one Titan and Kara slashed through another Titan.
Jean wasn't having a good day as he ran from a Titan. His gear malfuctioned.
"Damnit. I'm not going to die here today!" Jean growled. He ran into a house and fell against the wall. "Well done. Dragging everyone down with you." Jean ran a hand through his hair. He heard footsteps and saw the Titan he ran from walking by. He saw a dead body with ODM gear laying near the window. The gear didn't look damaged. He hid as he waited for the Titan to pass. "Maybe I won't die today. Maybe after this I will join the Scouts and tell Kara the truth."
Ian, Mitabi, Mikasa, and Kara landed on the roof near the hole in the wall.
"Status report!" Ian called.
"Five Titan approaching from the gate, sir!" A soldier said.
"Damnit. They keep coming." Kara said.
Jean watched as the Titan left. He ran out of the house and went to the body. He started pulling at the gear.
"If I wait for the all clear I'll never make it out alive! I've got to do something." Jean said. He was struggling with the belt and heard footsteps approaching. "Ugh. Come on. Work with me!"
"Jean! Look out!" Conny called. Jean turned and saw the Titan bearing down on him. Marco moved in front of the Titan.
"Marco! What the hell are you doing?" Jean called. Marco moved in another direction and the Titan followed. Jean pulled the ODM gear off. Jean put the new gear on and quickly got into the air. He dodged a Titan, but fell towards the ground. He lifted the handles. "What? You've got to be kidding me. Why is the trigger so stiff?" A Titan was approaching. "Shit."
"Jean!" Conny jumps off the roof. He kicks the Titan in the head. "Ow!"
"Are you insane?" Jean said as Conny landed on a roof.
"What are you waiting for? Get out of there!" Conny said. He jumped out of the way from a hand. Jean sent hooks flying and got out of the way. He gasped as one Titan was heading towards him thorugh the air, mouth open. Annie lands on the Titans chin and brings him down to the ground. Jean flies thorugh the air till he reaches the wall. Marco, Conny, and Annie join him. Jean turns towards them.
"You idiot got a death wish?" Jean asked.
"Don't even start, man." Marco said.
"Yeah! You scared the hell outta me! I'm not explaining to Kara why you were killed!" Conny said. Annie looks off to the side and gasps.
"I'll be damned." Annie said. Jean looks and gasped.
Kara and Mikasa turn as they hear Titan footsteps. Kara nearly fell off the roof. Eren's Titan was carrying the boulder towards the hole.
"He did it." Kara whispered. Mikasa gasped.
"Eren." Mikasa said.
"Mikasa! Kara!" Armin called. The girls turn as Armin joined them on the roof.
"Armin!" Kara said.
"He came out of it somehow! We're set! He's determined to see the mission through to the end! As long as we've got his back while he heads for the wall, victory will be ours!" Armin said. Kara felt tears in her eyes. Victory was in sight.
"Defend him!" Ian yelled. Everyone looked at Ian. "To the last man if that's what it comes to! Eren must reach the gate! I dont' want a single Titan anywhere near him!"
Jean looked at his friends.
"It looks like we're back on! Focus on keeping Eren safe!" Jean yelled. He jumped off the roof with the others following.
Ian turned to Mikasa, Armin, and Kara.
"The three of you, go. I want you with Eren immediately!" Ian said. Kara, Armin, and Mikasa gasp. "Hop to, soldiers! That's an order!"
"Sir, yes sir!" The three yelled. Ian runs to help Mitabi. Kara led Mikasa and Armin towards Eren. They got in front of Eren. Eren looks at them.
'Mikasa. Armin. Kara.' Eren thought. The three waited till he was close and took off running towards the hole in the wall. 'What are you doing? Get to the rooftops. You'll be killed.'
Levi landed on the wall of Trost but stopped. A Titan was carrying a boulder towards the hole in the wall.
"What the hell?" Oluo asked as the rest of his squad joins him.
"Stand down. Let's see what he does." Levi said.
"Captain." Eld said, pointing down. Levi looked. Kara was with two other cadets running ahead of the Titan. He was relieved to see his daughter alive, but why is she helping that Titan? "What the hell is she doing?!"
"I don't know. But if she's leading the Titan and its carrying a boulder. There's a plan." Levi said.
"But Captain. We should kill it." Gunther said.
"No." Levi said.
"But Captain!" Petra said.
"That's an order. Let's see what they are doing." Levi ordered.
Screams fill the air as soldiers were being eaten. Mitabi was brought down by a Titan. Kara gritted her teeth as she heard her fellow soldiers dying. She saw Ian jump in a mouth of a Titan to save a soldier and the Titan closed the mouth on him. Kara closed her eyes and opened them with a fierce look on her face. They were getting close to the hole.
"There's two ahead of us!" Armin called.
"Mikasa. Get the one on the left. I'll get the one on the right!" Kara yelled. Mikasa nodded. Kara and Mikasa run ahead.
"Out of the way!" Rico yelled. She slashed through both their eyes, bringing the Titans to the ground. Kara jumped out of the way of a hand. Kara slid across the ground. She sent a hook flying into the nape of the one on the rights neck. She yelled as she slashed through the Titan. Mikasa took down the other one.
"Woah. The brat was quick." Oluo said. Levi watched, impressed with his daughter. Kara stood on the titans head as Eren approached the hole.
"Go!" Armin yelled. Eren's Titan roars and puts the boulder into the hole in the wall. Kara fell to her knees.
"We did it." Kara whispered. Rico sends a green smoke signal in the air.
"Kara!" Jean yelled, running towards her.
"Jean!" Kara ran towards him. Mikasa and Armin were dealing with Eren. He grabbed her face in his hands.
"We did it." Jean said. Kara smiled up at him and she threw her arms around his neck and she kissed him. He was caught by surprise and returned it. Levi's eyes widen seeing Kara kiss a boy.
"Ooh. Looks like someone found love." Oluo said with a laugh. Levi shoves Oluo off the wall. Eld and Gunther snicker.
"Two Titans coming at Eren!" A soldier shouts, pulling Jean and Kara apart.
"We'll talk later." Kara said. Kara quickly pulled away and ran towards the Titans. Mikasa and Armin had Eren free. Kara latched onto one Titan as Levi dived down towards the other Titan. Kara and Levi at the same time slashed through the Titans. Levi landed on one Titan and Kara on the other.
"Brat. I swear your going to be the death of me." Levi said.
"Good to see you to, dad." Kara said with a smirk on her face. Her checks were red from the kiss. Jean was blushing as well. Levi turned to look at Eren's smoking carcass and Mikasa and Armin looking up at him in shock.
"Pay attention, kiddos. This is the part where you explain to me exactly what it is I'm looking at!" Levi said.
With the help of Scout regiment and Garisson Unit, all the Titans were taken out. Two titans were captured with Hange and Kara's help, not to Levi's liking with his daughter helping capture Titans. It took a full day to kill them all with cannons going nonstop. But by the end of the day with Erwin's okay. Kara was transfered from the Cadet Corps and into the Scouting Regiment on her father's squad. Kara knew the plans to get Eren to the Scouting Regiment under her father's control and Levi wanted Kara there to help understand Eren and help control him.
