Chapter 38

The New Queen

The next morning. Kara stood next Mikasa with Jean behind her as they watched as the huge ass Titan getting closer. It was crawling on all fours and dragging its face into the ground.

"Fire." The Commander yelled and cannons started to blast at the Titan. The Titan was taking hits as the cannons kept going off. It seemed to stop the Titan at the moment.

"Well. How'd that do?" Erwin asked. A hand knocks the trees out of the way. Cannons on the ground below went off.

"Looks like it took damage with all the holes in the body, but it's still moving." Kara said as she stood with her arms crossed. Erwin nodded.

"Looks like the field cannons are even less effective." Erwin said.

"Makes sense. The cannons on the wall have a way better angle, and they didn't do shit to it either. What's the problem?" Levi asked.

"Unprepared soldiers, scrapped together cannons, and shallow leadership. The Titans have always attacked from the south. Not only is this a Northern garrison, it's in the interior. Therefore, I can tell you for a fact this is the best we'll get." Erwin said.

"Yeah. That much is painfully clear." Levi said. The Titan was getting closer to the wall. The cannons weren't slowing it down. And of course, your strategy for getting us through this battle comes down to a gamble. Just like every other plan that you've come up with." Levi said.

"Erwin! I brought the goodies!" Hange called in a sing song voice and Team Levi and Erwin turn to see Hange and Moblit standing there with stuff. They walk over to the net that had barrels in it.

"All the gunpowder, ropes, and netting I could find. We still need to put it together, though." Hange said. A soldier came pushing a barrel with handles and spears. "Ooh! Got this, too. There's another one just like it a bit further down. The trigger's held in place, so once fired, it'll wind itself right back up, just like ODM gear." Hange turns towards Levi. "So. We do any damage?" Levi looked towards the Titan.

"Imagine a swarm of cicadas pissing on it." Levi said. Kara smirked.

"Then we'll actually use these things. Exciting." Hange said.

"Captain Levi. Kara. Jean. Sasha. Conny. You handle that side." Erwin said.

"Yes, sir!" Jean, Kara, Sasha, and Conny said. They ran over to the side they were told to stand on. Levi soon joined them. Kara looked over the barrel that they were going to use to connect to the Titan to make sure everything is working.

"You think we can pull this off?" Jean asked as he stood watching the Titan come closer. Kara stood up and came up to him.

"I'm sure we will." Kara said. Jean's hand slipped into hers. She smiled as they watched the Titan move closer. It was almost to the wall.

"The enemy is moving! Adjust your aim!" Carsten said. The cannons were turned so it was facing down to the ground. "Our target is the back of its neck." Everyone watched as it reached the wall. "Fire." Cannons were fired and hit the back of the neck. The Titan stopped moving. Kara watched. "Well done! We've torn into its flesh! One more volley, and we..." Kara gasped as steam came up from the Titan. Kara put her arms in front of her face.

"Damn it." Kara said.

"So hot!" Conny yelled.

"Damn it! That's just our luck. The wind must've shifted." Levi said. Jean kept a hand on Kara's arm to make sure she didn't blow away.

"What do we do? I can't see, Captain." A garison soldier said.

"It doesn't matter! The target's right beneath us! Keep shooting!" The Captain yelled. Cannons kept going off. A bang comes and Kara gasped as the Titan had pulled itself up onto the wall.

"Not good." Kara said. Jean gritted his teeth.

"That wasn't enough." Erwin said. A hand comes out of the steam and lands on the wall, knocking some rocks off. The Titan pulls itself up to its full height. Kara felt like she was gonna puke as she saw its face was gone and the brain was showing. Part of its intestine fell out of its stomach. The Titan let's out a roar as screams came from the citizens.

"We're falling back! Everyone run!" The Garrison Captain yelled.

"Kara. Come on." Jean said, pulling Kara towards the barrel of water. Levi was talking to the Captain as Jean handed her a bucket of water. Kara dumped it over her head. Sasha and Conny did the same. Kara grabbed another bucket and sneaked up behind Levi. She dumped the water over him.

"Brat. I can do it myself." Levi said. Kara just smirked.

"You were busy talking, dad. I was just helping out." Kara said. A gold light fills the air and Eren's Titan roar fills the air. Kara and Sasha push the barrel forward. Armin had the other barrel ready to go as well. Erwin got a smoke gun ready.

"On my mark!" Erwin called. The Titan roars. "Now!" He fires a red smoke signal. Armin and Sasha pull the triggers and sent hooks flying into the arms of the Titan. They pulled another trigger, and the barrel goes rolling towards the Titan.

"Take this!" Sasha yelled. The Barrels explode. The Titan roars as it starts to fall and lands on the wall.

"It lost its balance." Kara said.

"Eren! Do it!" Erwin yelled. Eren ran out of the smoke and ran towards the Titan, carrying the net with the barrels of gunpowder in it. The Titan turned its head towards Eren. The Titan Roars, opening its mouth. Eren roars and throws the net into its mouth. Everyone was holding their breath. The barrels exploded and caused a train reaction through the Titan. Chunks of the Titan started flying into the air. "Go! Deploy your ODM gear and finish it off!" Kara grabbed her handles and took off with her friends and Levi into the air. Kara latched onto a chunk of flesh and slashed through it.

"Where is it? Which one?" Jean said as he sliced through flesh. Historia was in the air, looking for the flesh that would finish off the Titan. Historia latched onto a huge piece and let out a yell as she slashed through the flesh. Kara gets blown as an explosion rock through the sky. Levi caught his daughter before she falls to the ground.

"You alright?" Levi asked as he landed on one of the roofs.

"Yes. Did Historia get him?" Kara asked. Historia was standing in the wagon letting the people that witnessed the event know she was the true ruler of the walls.

"She did." Jean said, landing on the roof.

The next day. Levi had disappeared after the fight to go look for Kenny. Kara and the other were in charge of guarding Historia till she was crowned the next day.

Kara stood between Sasha and Jean as they stood in their Miliary Jackets as Historia knelt in front of Premier Zachary as he held up the crown, surrounded by all the Commanders of the Military. Zachary placed the crown on top of Historia's head. The crowd cheered.

"Did that girl really bring down a Titan bigger than the wall?"

"Yeah! All the people of Orvud Distric witnessed it!"

"As small as she is, she still saved us from the Titan?"

"Her father ruled as King from the shadows, but she brought his tyranny to an end!"

"Long live the true ruler of the walls!"

"Long live Queen Historia!"

The Commanders bowed to Historia as she stood up. Kara couldn't help but smile. They were witnessing something amazing. Historia stepped forward and put her fist over her heart. The crowd cheers.

Later. Levi's squad was walking with Historia through the hall. There was going to be a party soon to celebrate Queen Historia and they were all invited, but Historia wanted to punch Levi.

"Wait, you're actually doing it? For real?" Eren asked. Kara was the only one not with them.

"Yeah. I am." Historia said.

"Come on. It was just a joke." Eren said. He looked at Mikasa. "Right, Mikasa?"

"After you've smacked him, you should tell him this: I dare you to hit me back." Mikasa said.

"Real helpful." Eren grumbled. Eren looked at Historia. "If it's no a serious grudge, let it go."

"If I can't even do this, then how can I call myself a queen?" Historia said.

"That's the spirit. Pound the runt!" Jean said.

"Jean. Better watch what your saying since your dating Kara." Eren said. Historia gasps. Kara and Levi stood waiting for them. Levi had come back right before the crowning and had pulled Kara away to talk. Levi steps forward. Kara stood watching. Historia was shaking as she tried to get the courage. She lets out a yell and runs at Levi. Historia goes to punch and Levi turns so she hits him in the arm. Everyone but Mikasa and Kara gasp. Historia laughs.

"Did that hurt? Well, I'm queen now, so to bad! If you have a prob.." Historia started but Levi started chuckling making everyone gasp, but Kara smiled. She knew he needed it. Levi looked at his team and then his daughter with a smile on his face.

"Thanks, you guys. I needed that." Levi said. Kara hugged Levi. Levi put a hand on her arm. "Let's go enjoy the party."

The party was in full swing. Conny and Sasha were drunk. Kara had to knock their heads together for them to pass out. Music was playing and couples were dancing. Levi was sitting with Erwin and Hange.

"Let's dance." Jean said, coming up to Kara as she sat with Mikasa and Armin. He held out his hand for Kara. Kara smiled and took it. Jean pulled her up and lead her out on the dancefloor. Kara wrapped her arms around Jean's neck as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Little moment of peace." Kara said. Jean pressed his forehead against hers.

"For now. Preparations to head to Wall Maria are starting and we won't have much time." Jean said.

"Then let's enjoy tonight as much as we can." Kara said. She stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against Jean's. They seem to fade into the dancers, not caring for anything in the world but themselves.

"They are so cute." Hange squealed watching the two.

"They don't have a care in the world it's just them." Moblit said.

"Tch." Levi said.

"Let them enjoy the night. This might be the last night of fun before we plan taking back Wall Maria." Erwin said. The others nodded as Jean and Kara pulled apart and continued to dance, enjoying each others company.
