The episode begins by showing an episode of The Great Ghost series, in this episode a man in a fedora and glasses looms over the cloaked protector was a very big and deadly looking book
But before the fiendish bibliophile can send his instrument of murder down into the ghosts head the scene stutters and the scene Burns Out
A voice grunts out disappointment as a camera pans over to an armchair, in which sits the Mad Hatter clearly very disappointed at the loss of his entertainment
The scene fades to obodega where the man from the film but obviously aged many years looks quizzically at a shelf of soft drinks, soon he chooses and he's out the door with his bags of what he got
Suddenly there's a sound of thunderous footsteps and the man barely drops his bags when a chubby form rockets into him
" crazed fan": Oh my God oh my God oh my God, your Roddy scholar the guy who played The Bookworm in the gray ghost series
The excited man above him begins to hyperventilate as well he looks up and sees to his horror the face of a known Criminal
Mad Hatter: Oh my God Mr Roddy I'm such a fan, I loved your second appearance in the series when you almost got rid of that horrid gray ghost, I never did like him always messing with the perfectly upstanding villains plans
The hatter begins to babble happily as Roddy struggles uselessly away from the excited haberdasher
Hatter: This is all to say Mr Roddy, i'd really like your autograph
Roddy: As much as I love to see fans, i'm not giving autographs anymore
The Hatter's excited expression slips into a look of Rage, and just as quickly a plastic smile
hatter: That's fine Mr Roddy, if I can't have your autograph i'll just get the bookworms autograph
The British blonde leans down and slip something small from one of the pockets of his coat, pressing it into the other man's neck the ever so familiar look of placid eyes shows an immediate success

The scene cuts to Wayne Manor, in which Bruce Wayne is in his private Library reading through books, when there's a phone call, when he answers the phone the voice of Commissioner Gordon begins to speak
Gordon: Sorry to interrupt Batman but the seems to be a new masked Maniac in town, he's been robbing book shops all over Gotham, no other pattern than stealing books
Bruce *in his Batman voice*: Thanks for the info commissioner I'm on the case

Meanwhile in the abandoned Wonderland Bookshop which is now being used as the hatters Hideout for the time being, the hatter stands next to a film projector fiddling at its insides, he backs away quizzically before flipping on the switch and the film already put in begins to play
He hums and satisfaction when the scene from the beginning begins to play, his face Falls when like always the gray ghost gets out of his predicament and apprehens the bombastic Bookworm like he always does
He slumps in his chair and begins to murder to himself that he's going to fix this but he's going to give his favorite character the satisfaction of killing, maybe not killing the gray ghost but someone similar enough

Meanwhile once more in a different Bookshop, the Bookworm stuff as many books as he can into a brown burlap sack, a batang being lodged into a book next to the one he was grabbing makes him turn around startled to see the looming form of the bat, though through his eyes he sees the gray ghost
Bookworm: Oh ghosty we meet again my phantasmal foe, but this time I shall try him over you and your tail will be cut short
The bat is taking a back by the man's appearance recognizing him as an actor from the gray ghost series but he gathers his resolve and whether he's another batarang, but before he can throw something smashed and the side of his head and he falls unconscious

When he wakes he's tied to a table and he looks around to see very familiar instead of choices, mushrooms, tea equipment, and playing cards are Illustrated across the walls of the room, he had a suspicions that rowdy wasn't entirely doing this it was on volition but now they're confirmed
two very similar laughs pipe up on either side of him, and soon after the hatter and bookworm step from the Shadows to loom over him on either side
Hatter: Well dear boy seems you have a friend of mine
Bookworm: Oh my dear Hatter we've met before, isn't that right ghosty
Hatter: But enough reminiscing my dear worm, I say we finish what you started and finally put an end to a shared foe
The hatter struts away and comes back with a facsimile of the book used in the episode he so adores, but this one is no prop and it shall be used with deadly force, handing the book to the worm, the bibliophilic barbarian looms once more over a nightly protector
Batman: Mr roddy I know you're in there somewhere, you have to fight through the spell this madman's put you under
The Bookworm hesitates and for a moment the Batman hopes Roddy can hear him, and he continues

Batman: What would Simon think if he could see you now
The book were mothers out the name Simon before reeling back in mental pain as he scratches violently at the back of his head, his violent clawing fries the microchip from its place and it falls was a metallic tinkle to the floor
Roddy: w- what... Where am I
The hatter screams frustratedly, a cacophony of curses and not again spills from his lips before he seizes the recently dropped bludgeoning book and residents himself unconscious in his frustrated smacking

Later on in Arkham Asylum the hatter sits in the recreation room grumpy, not only did his plan to finally see A better ending to his favorite episode fail, he didn't even get that autograph he wanted
Guard: Something came in the mail for you touch
Jarvis grabs the letter angrily from the guard and scans it to see a familiar name, his curiosity peaked he opens it to see
The plop used in his favorite episode and written on it and Sharpie, " to my maddest fan, sincerely bookworm"
Hatter Calloohs and Callays excitedly as he twirls around with the best gift he's ever gotten
