12. ep:Reckoning of the Past

The Batcave is dimly lit, and high-tech computer screens illuminate the room. TERRY MCGINNIS (early 20s, in his Batman Beyond suit) stands at the Batcomputer, scanning through criminal activity in Neo-Gotham.

TERRY MCGINNIS
(voice-over)
Neo-Gotham never sleeps. It's a never-ending battle.

Terry notices a series of robberies linked to an old criminal, THE CALENDAR MAN, on the screen.

TERRY MCGINNIS
(into communicator)
Max, I've got a lead on Calendar Man. I'm heading out.

INT. MAX'S APARTMENT - NIGHT

MAXINE "MAX" GIBSON (early 20s, Terry's tech-savvy friend) is working on her computer. She hears her communicator buzz and answers.

MAX GIBSON
(into communicator)
On it, Terry. Sending you coordinates.

EXT. NEO-GOTHAM SKYLINE - NIGHT

Batman Beyond takes off on his high-tech Batwing. His suit, enhanced with advanced WayneTech gadgets, allows him to glide effortlessly through the city.

INT. NEO-GOTHAM ROOFTOP - NIGHT

Calendar Man (60s, eccentric-looking in a vintage suit) is robbing a jewelry store, using an antique calendar as his weapon.

CALENDAR MAN
(laughing)
Time is money, and I'm cashing in!

Batman Beyond lands silently on the rooftop and observes Calendar Man. He activates his voice modulator.

TERRY MCGINNIS
(in a deep, menacing tone)
Time's up, Calendar Man.

Calendar Man turns, startled. He throws the calendar like a boomerang, but Batman Beyond dodges it effortlessly. A fight ensues, showcasing Terry's acrobatic skills and futuristic gadgets.

CALENDAR MAN
(grinning)
You can't stop the march of time!

Batman Beyond finally subdues Calendar Man and ties him up with Batcuffs. He activates his communicator.

TERRY MCGINNIS
(into communicator)
Max, I've got Calendar Man. Send the police.

INT. GCPD - COMMISSIONER BARBARA GORDON'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Commissioner BARBARA GORDON (50s, wheelchair-bound but sharp as ever) receives the call from Max.

COMMISSIONER BARBARA GORDON
(into phone)
I'm sending a unit right away, Max. Tell Terry he did good.

INT. WAYNE MANOR - BATCAVE - NIGHT

Terry returns to the Batcave, and Max tracks the police on the Batcomputer as they arrest Calendar Man.

MAX GIBSON
You made quick work of him, Terry.

TERRY MCGINNIS
Thanks to your tech support, Max.

Terry removes his cowl, revealing a young and determined face.

TERRY MCGINNIS
(softly)
But I can't help but wonder, Max, about the past. What made Calendar Man come out of retirement?

Max looks at Terry, concerned.

MAX GIBSON
You know, Terry, sometimes the past has a way of catching up with all of us.

They exchange a meaningful glance as they continue their vigil over Neo-Gotham.

FADE OUT
