Chapter 2

Olivia walked in pushing a stroller. She stepped off the elevator and the squad room was empty except for a young man sitting with his feet up on an empty desk. "Mommy, where's Uncle Fin and Aunt Manda? And who's that with the ugly mustache?" Olivia knelt down explaining it must be the new detective and she had to be on her best behavior.

He jumped up seeing his Sergeant. "Good morning Sergeant Benson. I'm Detective Dominic Carisi Jr. Most people call me Sonny." He extended his hand and smiled at Riley who's facial expression showed she wasn't impressed. He grabbed the bag. "I have donuts! You look like you could use a snack." Riley looked at her mom for okay.

Olivia nodded and her phone rang, "Benson!" Noah screamed seeing Riley sit at Fin's desk eating the sweet treat. Olivia knew this wouldn't work out.

Dominic waved for her to take it and he picked up Noah. "I have tons of nieces and nephews." Riley decided to talk with a mouthful telling him his mustache was ugly. Olivia gave her the serious eye and she spun around in Fin's chair.

Olivia watched him play with them from her office window. "What's up Fin? FYI this morning has been crazy."

Fin explained that he and Amanda were at the 116th Precinct for teenage girls. "We found out Nick was there and actually picked them up. We radioed to stop him. One is underage and both were picked up as prostitutes. Plus you aren't going to believe this, the older one Missy is a material witness in the rape-homicide of Ellie Porter." Olivia immediately looked at Noah. She wanted to find her murderer for Noah. "Nick recognized Ellie's name and called us."

Olivia saw Olivet and Kurt coming in. "Ok since Nick has them, get him to bring them in and get back here. Thanks Fin!"

Olivia walked out to greet Dr. Olivet. Kurt had already picked up Riley. "Why aren't you in school? I heard you've been acting up." Riley just hugged his neck and pointed to Olivia. Olivia asked Dominic to watch them and invited them in to talk.

Olivia explained the school situation to both of them. "Dr. Olivet, I just would feel better if you could talk to her. Kurt, do you agree?" He looked at his little girl. Olivia had always taken care of her and he appreciated it. He nodded in agreement. "Do you mind if I put you in the kids room, so we can hear?" Dr. Olivet agreed but made them aware they may not like what she says. "I think we should know the truth."

Olivia put them in the room and they listened on the other side. "Hi Riley. I'm Beth." She asked her if she liked to draw and they just chatted.

Olivia turned to Kurt, "Are you aware that Sienna spanks Riley?" Kurt was taken aback. "She told me this morning among other things." When Kurt asked what Olivia told him everything. "Are you fucking her Kurt? And believe me I'm not asking because I'm jealous. Riley is your kid. I trusted you with her because I needed you. She needed you Kurt."

He just looked at Riley talking so freely. "I had no idea." He shook his head, "I knew Sienna was soaking up my money but I didn't know she was touching her." Kurt sighed, "I know I didn't want kids when you decided to have her, but I would never let someone hurt her. Hell Liv, I don't spank her. I don't like it when you spank her. She's gone, I promise."

They listened to them talk, "I'm friends with your mom. Your mom and dad wanted me to talk with you about how you're feeling. How are you feeling Riley?"

Riley put her crayon down, "Mommy got hurt really bad. That bad man burned her. Is Noah really mommy's baby?" Olivia looked at Kurt with confusion.

Dr. Olivet was careful, "Riley, you know Noah's mommy passed away. She may adopt Noah though and he will be her baby and your brother."

Riley shrugged, "He looks like mommy and me. He has dark hair and blue eyes like I do. Did that man rape mommy?" Olivia leaned against the glass. Riley didn't know about her job to that extent or rape. Kurt stopped her from going inside. She had to trust the doctor.

She faced Riley, "No he didn't. Do you know what that means?" Riley shook her head. She had no clue. "Riley where did you hear that from?"

Riley chewed on her lip, "I read the report. Mommy doesn't know. I saw the burns on her chest when I came home. It said rape question mark. I know she had bruises, cuts, and burns, but I don't know rape. What is it?"

She smiled, "It just means people get hurt in a different way, but she didn't. Your mommy is strong and brave. She saves lots of people. I know that makes you proud right?" Riley beamed and immediately forgot the bad stuff. She showed her the picture of her getting an award for saving a girl's life. "Why don't you go see your brother."

Dr. Olivet walked out, "Keep your work hidden, she can read. Sooner or later she will figure out what you do. You'll have to have that talk. She's fine. She loves you both and her family the way it is."

Olivia hugged Kurt crying. "Hey, don't let her see you crying." Kurt had an idea. "I tell you what. How about I take Riley and Noah with me today. I'll call in and we'll have a fun day since she's skipping school and everything."

"Uncle Fin! Aunt Manda! We skipped school today!" Amanda smiled and quickly ushered the young girls away. While another officer threw an unidentified man in the cage. Fin picked up Riley and twirled her around. Carisi just stood there with his donut. "This is Sonny, that's a dumb name. He doesn't have a partner. It's probably his mustache." Fin fell out laughing. Olivia urged Kurt to take her quickly. Kurt grabbed the kids and split.

Olivia introduced everyone as she saw Nick and the woman officer take the young girls back. "What do we have?" Amanda reviewed the case involving Ellie to bring Carisi up to speed. "Rollins, you think they will give us something?"

Amanda wasn't sure, "I doubt it, especially since we were shot at while leaving out." Olivia grabbed Amanda and looked at her. She questioned her vest. "I didn't know we were targets. We weren't wearing one."

Fin smiled, "Don't worry Liv, I'm fine. Amanda only ducked. I chased the bad guy." Olivia rolled her eyes at him. Then told him to continue. "I returned fire and that clown ran into the street and was struck by a car. He's fine at Mercy."

Olivia gave directions. She sent Amanda and Fin to talk with the shooter at the hospital. Carisi fed the young girls and offered them protection, but they didn't get anywhere. Missy begged to be put in jail. She knew it wasn't a warning shot. Olivia sat and watched the younger one scarf down food. She had bleach blonde hair and blue eyes. Her eyes looked like her blonde coworker. She shook off her feelings for Amanda.

They ran the name of the shooter. It was the same operation as Little Tino, but he was in jail. "Do you know this girl?" Olivia showed her a photo of Ellie knowing she knew and she saw the fear. "We can help you." Olivia felt like she was lying, they couldn't help Ellie.

Missy shutdown immediately and the blonde wouldn't speak without her saying so, so they stepped out. They spoke about the case. "Liv, we know the house. What if we used Nick as an inside man? He's got a grudge, we could use it. You know he would help. It just may be his way back in."

Olivia nodded and made the call. Carisi walked in, "The youngest has no prints and gave Nick the name Luna. We think it's fake. CPS is coming. We have to book Missy because she's 18." Olivia frowned, she knew she was in danger and once she was booked, she would get out.

They all worked, but Olivia left to deal with the family. She walked into her place since Kurt was meeting her. She had two big bags of take out Chinese food. Lucy jumped up to help. "Where's Riley and Noah?" Olivia was very short with her explaining Kurt had them. "Are you mad with me?"

Olivia heard the door. "Mommy!" Lucy watched her speak to Kurt about their day. Noah was out cold. "Lucy! Look! I got this tiger today from the zoo. I skipped school." Olivia gave her butt a soft playful tap to stop telling everyone that.

They heard another knock and Kurt answered it. "Hey Kurt!" Melinda Warner walked in and gave him a hug. "Where's my Ri Ri?" Riley peeled out of Lucy's arms and ran screaming for her Aunt Melinda.

Olivia unpacked the food and Kurt said goodnight. "Thanks Melinda for helping. I have to change. You got this?" Melinda grabbed the plates and Lucy watched Olivia walk to her room. So she followed her. Olivia turned hearing her footsteps. "Are you coming with me?" She knew she had her full attention. "I'm going to change my clothes. Luce shut the door." Lucy closed the door and watched her pull off her shirt. She put on her black NYPD tank top and shirt that said Sergeant Benson. Then she grabbed her vest and threw it on the bed. This was serious. She walked in her closet and came out with her black jeans on and boots in her hand. "I have 5 minutes. What is it Luce?"

Lucy repeated, "Are you mad at me?" Olivia shook her head no. "You called Kurt to watch them and Melinda. Why? I'm here and I always watch them."

Olivia tied her last shoe. "I made myself clear this morning. Get yourself together. I don't like secrets, you know that. She stood up. "I'm not mad, but I am disappointed." Lucy sunk on the bed. That was worse, like a punch in the gut. "Where's my goodnight hug?" Lucy didn't move.

Lucy didn't follow her this time. "Okay, mommy has to go to work. She saw Noah eating noodles. Be good Noah. Riley, be better." She tickled both of their bellies causing laughter to erupt. "Hey, make sure she gets to bed, she has school tomorrow."

She told Melinda that the oldest one was in a mood and she would talk to her tonight. Olivia yelled down the hall, "Luce, sleep in my bed tonight." Riley turned whining. "Don't start! You and Lucy have to share me. She needs me Ri." She kissed them goodnight.
