Taylor's heart was beating fast and he felt sick to his stomach.

Bobby looked out the door. "Did you ride your bike here?"

Taylor nodded, trying to catch his breath.

Bobby let him in and gave him some water and a cool cloth.

Missouri put her hand on Taylor's back to calm him.

Bobby looked worried.

As Taylor calmed his breathing he remembered the papers in his backpack. He got them out and handed them to Bobby.

"Where did you get these?" Bobby asked.

Taylor drank the water and was regaining his breath. "Someone left them in an envelope at my door."

Missouri looked at the papers and raised a brow. "Did you see them?"

Taylor shook his head. His eyes got wide and he felt around for his phone. "I forgot my phone. I didn't call my mom or dad." He started to pace.

Bobby stopped him and told him to sit. "I'll call your dad. Just rest." He could tell that something more was going on. "These are the papers they gave you?"

Taylor shook his head. "Those are copies. The real ones are in a locked safe in my house."

"You made copies and then came here?" Bobby asked, trying to pry the information from him.

Taylor sighed. "I thought it was weird. The pages were old and had weird writing. I don't know why someone would leave them at my house but I thought that maybe it could be related to something you know something about. They must be important. I made the copies so that I wouldn't have the originals on me. I don't know exactly why I came here."

Missouri gave him a gentle smile.

Taylor tried to manage his thoughts. "Maybe I got spooked."

"Why didn't you call someone to get you?" Bobby asked.

Taylor blushed. "If this is something related to you guys or Kate, it could be bait. Asking someone to come get me could have been a trap. If they wanted me they could have grabbed me at any time and they probably already know where you live so me riding my bike here wouldn't let them through the warding anyway."

Missouri squeezed his arm. She was sad that such a young person would need to think in that manner but was glad that he had.

Bobby rubbed his neck. "I will let your dad know where you are. You sit here and finishing getting your breath. Missouri will look at what you brought."

Taylor rested his head on the back of the chair. He had made so many choices based off instinct and he hoped his dad wouldn't see it as making rash decisions.

Bobby made the call and spoke briefly to Craig. "He rode his bike all the way over here. He made copies and put the stuff in a safe he said."

Craig's first reaction was frustration but Taylor was meticulous. "Tell him he did good. I'll let his mom know he doesn't have his phone."

Bobby sighed in relief. He wasn't sure when he became the go between with kids and their parents. He went back into the kitchen. "Your dad is aware and said to tell you that you did good."

Taylor grinned sheepishly.

Missouri saw the pain in his eyes and gave him a warm hug. "Of course he did." She got up and asked if he was hungry.

"I am okay. Thank you." Taylor answered.

"That isn't what I asked you." Missouri said with a raised brow.

Bobby gave him a wink. "I'd accept the food."

Taylor blushed slightly. "I am a little hungry."

Missouri made a few grilled cheese sandwiches and some soup.

Bobby took a bite and closed his eyes. "These are so much better than mine."

Missouri scoffed. "That isn't saying much."

The roar of baby's engine alerted them that Dean and Kate were back.

Kate saw Taylor's bike and bailed out of the car.

Dean cringed at the sound of the door shutting a little too hard. "Hey! Watch it."

Kate turned around and grimaced. "Sorry!" She went inside and was surprised to see Taylor sitting at the table. "What are you doing here?"

Bobby handed her the papers. "Someone left these at his door."

Dean saw the grilled cheese sandwiches and went to grab one.

Missouri smacked his hand away. "Boy, go wash your hands."

Dean rubbed the top of his hand but went to the sink to wash them.

Kate really loved Missouri. She sat down and read over the papers.

"Can you read that?" Taylor asked.

Kate looked up. "Yeah?"

Missouri scooted closer to her. "That isn't the same as Sam's book."

Kate took a closer look at the lettering. "It must still be Gaelic."

Dean leaned over her shoulder. "Looks like chicken scratch."

Kate threw an elbow back to catch his hip.

Dean dodged her elbow and poked her side. "Watch it."

She tilted the page and squinted her eyes. "There are shadows behind some of the words but I can't tell what they are supposed to be."

"I made copies before I left. The real ones are at my house." Taylor said.

"Maybe the originals are easier to read." Kate said and grabbed the sandwich from Dean's hand.

Dean ruffled her hair but let her have it. "Why did you leave the other ones at your house?"

Taylor told him what he had told Bobby and Missouri.

"Huh, that was smart." Dean said. "Would you feel comfortable going with me to get the originals?"

Taylor shrugged. "I think so."

Dean pulled his keys out. "We can grab them and come back here."

Taylor got up and put his dish in the sink. "Thank you for the sandwiches."

Missouri stood up and wrapped him in a hug. "You are so welcome."

Dean scrunched his eyebrows.

Missouri turned and looked at him with a wink.

He set his jaw. "Stop reading my thoughts."

Missouri smiled. "I didn't need to read you for that one."

Taylor grabbed his shoes and followed Dean to the car. "How do you know her?"

Dean started the car. "When my mom died, my dad was pretty distraught. He went to her for help and she gave him honest answers."

"She is really nice." Taylor said.

Dean grinned. "To you."

Taylor went to sit back and shifted. His face turned red and his eyes got big.

Dean stopped at the end of the drive way. "What is wrong?"

Taylor felt a bit of panic rising. He pulled one of the extra hand guns from the back of his pants.

Dean didn't act phased. "Is that your dad's?"

Taylor nodded.

"If you are afraid I'm going to rag you for it, I'm not." Dean said.

Taylor took a breath. "I grabbed it just incase someone followed me. I kinda forgot about it."

Dean chuckled. "As long as you don't forget to put the safety on."

Taylor held it up. "Safety is on."

Dean pulled out of the drive way. "Does he let you carry one?"

Taylor frowned. "For emergencies. I know how to use it. He may get pissed though."

Dean drummed his fingers on the wheel. "I'd say this was an emergency. You didn't feel safe at home and went straight to a designated safe spot."

Taylor relaxed.

"My dad gave Sammy a gun when he was nine. I was younger than that." Dean said.

Taylor considered his words. Everything he did seemed to make his dad angry but he had been less angry since John talked to him.

Dean knew the look on Taylor's face because he had held the same look many times in regards to John. "What do you think of Kate?"

Taylor eyed him.

Dean laughed. "You have some kind of connection to her."

Taylor licked his lips. "Not on purpose."

Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "Kid, I'm not going to shove you out of a moving car."

Taylor wasn't sure about that. "I don't know why I got that feeling or how I knew it was about her. I have never had anything like that happen before and when it happened again I didn't know who was causing it."

Dean nodded his head. "Do you think those papers have something to do with all this?"

Taylor shrugged. "I don't know much of anything."

Dean snorted. "Me either." He stopped outside Taylor's house and looked around for possible dangers. "Do you need anything besides the papers?"

Taylor grimaced. "My phone."

Dean went in the house with him.

Taylor held his hand in front of the safe as he entered the code. He turned and saw Dean watching him. His shoulder's slumped. "Dad said you have to do that incase anyone is watching."

Dean nodded. Craig might be more paranoid than John.

Taylor handed the pages to Dean and showed him the locket.

Dean studied the locket. "Did you open it?"

Taylor shook his head. "I didn't know what it was."

Dean had to give the kid credit for thinking things out. "Grab your phone and let's go."

Taylor ran to his room and got his phone. He met Dean at the door and they headed back to Bobby's. "Thanks for bringing me to get the stuff."

Dean frowned. "It isn't a big deal."

Taylor shrugged and looked out the window.

Once they got back to Bobby's, Kate immediately took the pages and studied them. She was right about the shadows. "These feel like the pages from Sam's book."

Taylor was sitting beside her. "Maybe they are the same age."

Missouri studied the locket. The amount of power she could feel seeping through the edges worried and excited her. She didn't know why it had been given to Taylor.

"What is in it?" Dean asked.

Missouri clasped her hand around it. "I have never felt anything quite like it but I don't think we should open it until we know what it is."

Dean was thinking the same thing.

Kate tilted the page and ran her fingers over the grooves. She flipped the page over but there were no indentions on the other side. The page was filled with odd symbols that felt familiar.

Taylor squinted his eyes. "Is that like Japanese or something?"

Kate reached for the dampening bracelet and went to take it off. She jumped when Dean cleared his throat. "Oh come on. This could be related."

"Not until we have a better idea of what it is. I don't want you to go dark side again." Dean said pointedly.

Kate groaned. "Fine."

Taylor nudged her. He didn't want things to get more tense. "We can write out what ever these symbols are. I haven't really gotten a chance to do any of this hunting stuff and I would like to see how it works."

Kate smiled. "Okay. I'll get my drawing stuff." She darted from the room and ran up the stairs.

Dean followed her.

She turned around and ran into him. "What?"

Dean sighed. "This could be something dangerous. I need you to promise that you will keep that bracelet on. I know you are curious. I know it doesn't seem fair that you can't use your abilities."

Kate slumped. "I'm not stupid."

"I didn't say you were." Dean countered.

Kate looked into his eyes. "I learned my lesson, remember?"

Dean smirked. "I don't know. You woke up care free the next morning."

Kate stuck her tongue out. "Bracelet will stay on and I promise not to sneak around. I'll do this by the book."

Dean ruffled her hair and went back down stairs.

Kate put her stuff on the table and had Taylor hold the page at an angle. She tried to copy down the symbols but some were worn. She wrote down as many as she could and did each of the next pages. "There."

Bobby scratched his chin. "I don't think I have seen these before."

Missouri hadn't either.

"What does the necklace have to do with it?" Kate asked.

Missouri held it up.

Kate got a closer look and felt an overwhelming desire to open it. Something called to her that was beyond curiosity. She reached for it absentmindedly.

Taylor grabbed her arm and yanked it back. He covered his mouth with his hands. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that."

Kate blinked rapidly. The connection faded and she felt fuzzy. "No it's okay." She looked at Missouri and swallowed. "Maybe I shouldn't be around that."

Dean was slightly confused by the exchange but gave Taylor a quick nod to let him know that it was okay.

Bobby took the locket and put it in a locked box. He wondered if Taylor acted due to his ability or just worry about Kate.

Taylor was nervous and unsure of himself. "I didn't mean to pull your arm like that."

Kate gave him a smile. "You didn't hurt me. Did you hear it?"

Taylor nodded. "That is why I pulled your arm back."

Missouri studied them. "What did you hear?" She had been holding the thing and hadn't heard anything.

Kate tilted her head. "Ringing or whirring."

Taylor nodded in agreeance.

Dean rubbed his head. He was tired of curveballs. The supernatural used to be simple. Now it was out of his wheelhouse.

John and Craig had discussed the possible connections between Kate and Taylor. John was a firm believer that there were no coincidences.

To Craig's knowledge, the only run in he had had with a creature was when he was deployed. He didn't think that any of his family had any sort of ability but he pulled old records and talked to the family members he could track down. He wasn't thrilled with the idea that Taylor may have something special going on but John had told him to check things out anyway.

John had wondered if there was a family connection between Taylor and Kate but they couldn't find one. He couldn't avoid Bobby's house forever so they wrapped up the research and headed back to South Dakota.

Kate went outside with Taylor to clear her head. She wanted answers but her usual way of searching had a high complication rate. "Why did you get that stuff?"

Taylor honestly didn't know. "Maybe it was meant for you but whoever left it couldn't get to you because of all the warding."

Kate chewed her fingers. "If that is the case then they are watching us closely enough to know you know me well enough to get the papers to me."

Taylor had thought of that. He looked out over the darkening salvage yard. He hoped that the person watching them was just trying to help.

Dean watched them through the window for a few moments before going back to talking to Missouri and Bobby. "What are we thinking?"

"That we need help." Missouri said.

"What do we do for now?" Dean asked.

Missouri put the box in her bag. "I'll take this with me for now."

Bobby thought that was a good idea after seeing Kate's face when she got near it.

"Keep her distracted and we will figure this all out." Missouri added.

"Do you think she is dangerous for other people?" Dean wanted to make sure she wasn't going to go nuclear.

"No. She is doing well with that bracelet. How did babysitting go?" Missouri asked.

Dean grinned. "I think she has a new respect for care givers. Luke is a bit of a handful."

Bobby smirked. "Like you were?"

Dean scoffed. "I wasn't that bad."

Bobby clapped him on the back. "I'll take Taylor and his bike home."

Missouri walked out with him and said goodbye to everyone. "I need to head back. I have clients tomorrow."

Kate gave her a big hug. "Thank you."

Missouri kissed the top of her head. "Of course honey." She gave Taylor a hug as well.

Bobby put Taylor's bike in his truck and told him to hop in.

Taylor got in the passenger side. "Thanks for letting me stop by."

Bobby saw the sad look in his eyes. "You are always welcome."

Dean threw Kate's duffle on top of her to wake her up.

Kate threw it off. "Why?" She whined.

"You are coming with me." Dean said and threw it back.

"Where?" Kate sat up.

Sam groaned. "Could you two shut up?"

Dean tossed a pillow at him. "Oh I forgot about your beauty sleep. You could go too."

Sam sat up. "Do I have to?"

"Well aren't you two just peaches." Dean said and turned on the light. "Every body is going."

Sam rolled out of bed in search of coffee.

"Where are we going?" Kate asked.

"An errand and possible hunt." Dean said.

Kate shot out of bed. "Why didn't you say that?"

Dean hit her with the pillow. "Because me saying get your butt out of bed should be enough."

Kate scrunched her face. "Really?"

Dean laughed. "No. Just messing with you. I will leave you if you don't get ready though."

Kate pushed him out of the room. "Out so I can get normal clothes on."

Dean rolled his eyes. "A please would be nice."

Kate huffed. "Go away please."

"What is this hunt?" Sam asked.

Dean stole a piece of his toast. "There is a possible ghost situation."

Sam made a face. "You think it is wise to bring her along?"

Dean shrugged. "I am giving her a chance to prove herself."

Sam eyed Dean. "Why do I feel like there is more to that statement?"

Dean smirked. "Because there is."

Sam shrugged and drank his coffee.

Kate bounced down the stairs. "Okay, ready."

Dean shoved a plate toward her. "Eat. I'm not stopping for food."

Kate scarfed down her food and cleaned her plate in the sink. "Okay, NOW I'm ready."

Dean put his duffle of gear in the trunk and peeled out of the drive way. The hunt that he was taking Kate on was very specific. It was a test of sorts. He was uncertain and uneasy but wanted to be able to trust her again.

Sam watched the thoughts pass over his brother's face. He assumed that what ever Dean wasn't saying had to do with the hunt but he also knew Dean would fill him in at an appropriate time. No matter how much time had went by between hunts, he always felt right back at home riding shotgun.

Kate sat in the backseat and drew aimlessly. She tried to place where she had seen the odd symbols before. There was nothing in Brian's journal to indicate he had seen them on any of his cases. Not knowing was something that Kate didn't handle well. "Is it okay if I use your computer to look up what these symbols are?" Kate asked and held up the page she had been doodling on.

Sam looked back at her. "I think I can help with that. How do you plan on finding something that obscure?"

Kate chewed her pencil. "I thought that we could look at a list of old languages and cross off the ones that do not fit."

Dean smiled to himself.

Sam called John to describe what Taylor had brought to them. He told him about Kate's reaction to the locket.

John was pleased that Kate seemed to have more control over her impulses. He was also glad to hear Sam's voice. "I'll be home in a day or so and I can look at them."

Sam had obvious questions but didn't dare ask them.

John took an awkward breath. "I'll be at your graduation."

Sam felt blood rush to his face and bit his lip. He had to play it cool. "That is great, dad."

Dean raised a brow and looked at Sam.

Sam ran his knuckles down his thigh to control his voice that threatened to break. "I'll let the school know."

John could hear the higher tone and knew that Sam was, indeed, happy with the news. He knew it meant a lot to Sam.

Sam hung up the phone and took a deep breath. He bounced his knee and looked out the window.

"So what was that?" Dean asked.

Sam gave him a awkward smile.

Kate gasped and sat forward. "He is going isn't he!"

Sam nodded.

Dean looked in the rearview mirror. "Did you have anything to do with that?"

Kate scoffed. "I didn't compel him."

Dean chuckled and looked back at the road. "Well there goes my plan on getting you drunk after graduation."

Kate scooted forward. "Why would you do that?"

Sam laughed. "To mess with me."

Dean shook his head. "I promise to be on my best behavior."

Kate shifted in her seat. "Sooooo where are we going?"

Sam looked at the map and pointed to the town they were being sent to.

"What kind of errand are we running?" Kate asked.

Dean furrowed his brows. "Missouri gave me a list and the place we are going has two of the things she needs."

Kate looked out the window. "What kind of hunt?"

"Ghost." Dean said.

Kate saw his face and giggled. "Have I reached my question limit for the day?"

Dean smiled. "Yes."

Kate sat back and smiled. She went back to drawing and humming along with the radio.

Dean drove for a few hours and then pulled into the parking lot of a small strip mall. He saw the sigh for the shop that Missouri had sent him to and got out.

Kate got out with Sam but stayed close by. She had a history of getting distracted. The shop was like every other antique shop she had ever seen. She looked around but didn't touch anything.

Dean grabbed the two items and paid.

"I wonder how many old things wind up in stores like that and they are actually cursed or something." Kate said.

Sam shrugged. "That is why you have to be careful."

Kate scrunched her nose. "There was a creepy doll in there and I think her eyes moved."

Sam smirked at Dean.

Dean shook his head. "Shop owner is on his own. I don't do dolls."

Kate remembered his detest for dolls and filed that away for future pranks.

Dean drove to the second destination and looked out at the farm house. "This is it."

Kate stayed in her seat and didn't try to get out.

"Stay with me." Dean said and pulled out an emf reader.

Kate was surprised but stayed right by his side.

Dean walked inside and turned the emf on. The whirring sound started up and then stopped. "Could be power lines."

Sam walked outside. "Probably not."

Dean had more information on the house than he let on but needed to see how Kate handled it.

Kate stayed in step with Dean but looked around as well. The house felt off. If she had her abilities at full power she could figure it out. She looked at her bracelet but kept it on. "Something may be here."

Dean turned to her. "Ghost?"

Kate scrunched her face. "Not a normal ghost."

"How do you know?" Dean asked.

Kate stopped walking. "A hunch?"

Dean eyed her. "Okay, so what is your hunch?"

Kate rolled her wrist. "Can I take this off?"

Dean leaned against the wall. "What are you wanting to do?"

"Scan the house I guess. I'll put it right back on." Kate felt the pull.

Dean nodded his head.

Kate bit her lip. She wanted to do things right. "I'll hand it to you."

Dean held his hand out for the bracelet.

Sam watched them. He didn't know why Dean was trusting her so early.

Kate took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She could hear faint voices and walked toward them. The house had a dark shadow but the spirit inside was not dark. Kate felt the heartbreak and anguish. She felt her abilities kicking in and quickly pulled them back. She needed to focus.

Dean watched her fidget and was tempted to put the bracelet back on.

Kate opened her eyes and held her arm out.

Dean put it back on. "What do you think?"

Kate looked around the room. "I think that a long time ago, someone pretty evil lived here. I think they did some evil things and one of the people that got hurt is stuck here."

Dean hid his smile. "What kind of evil person are we talking about?"

Kate sighed. "I don't know exactly. Can we set her free?"

Dean tilted his head. "Her?"

"Yes, the spirit that is trapped. That is why we are here, right?"

Dean nodded. "Yes. The owner died a few years ago and one of his kids inherited this place. They tried living here for a while but kept noticing strange things."

Kate crossed her arms. "You knew?"

Dean put his hand up. "I know that there are reports but not who the ghost is or why they are still here."

Sam took the emf reader and walked around the house until he found a hot spot. "In here."

Dean and Kate followed him and saw a blank wall.

Dean felt along the wall. "What do you want to bet that there is something behind there?"

Sam smirked. "Keys to the impala?"

Dean scoffed. He felt for a weak spot in the wall and kicked it.

Dust filled the room and caused them to cough. A chill ran through the room and the door slammed.

Kate felt fear bubbling up in her chest but stayed calm.

"Do you still think this spirit is good?" Dean asked.

Kate rolled her eyes. "Yes, Dean."

Dean made a hole in the wall big enough that he could crawl through it. He flicked a flashlight on and gagged.

"Body?" Sam asked.

Dean turned around. "Yeah." He was slammed into a wall and groaned.

Sam was thrown as well.

Kate braced herself for a sudden impact but was unharmed.

Dean crawled out of the hole in the wall. "You sure about that?"

Kate's eyes darted around the room. "If I was tortured by some old man, I wouldn't be very fond of guys either."

Dean sat on the floor. "You have a point."

"Can I go in there?"

Dean shook his head. "Not safe."

Kate sat down on the floor as well. "If I can talk to her, I think I can help."

Dean unclasped the bracelet.

Kate could immediately feel another surge coming on but swallowed it. She felt the woman's spirit in and tried to make her feel at peace. She didn't speak out loud but told her that they were there to help her move on."

Dean felt the tension in the room leave.

Kate felt something else in the house that called to her in a stronger way. She wanted to go to it but forced herself to resist. "Bracelet."

Dean quickly replaced it. "Are we good to go?"

Kate nodded. "We can move her body. There is something else here."

Dean raised a brow. "Another spirit?"

Kate shook her head. "It is something strong but isn't free in the house."

Sam shot Dean a confused look.

"Okay let's get her out of here and we will check it out." Dean said.

Sam helped him gently move the body from its long time resting place. They took it outside and wrapped her in a sheet. They each said some kind words before burning the bones.

Kate turned to see a young woman dissolve into fire. "She is gone."

"That wasn't so hard." Dean said and rubbed the knot on the back of his head. "Okay we need to figure out what is in there."

Kate sat on the hood of the car. "I don't think I should."

Sam tilted his head. "Why not?"

Kate sighed. "Because I feel like Dean does when he smells pie."

Dean acted offended. "I act no certain way around pie." He squeezed her shoulder. "Got some demon stuff going on in there?"

Kate nodded her head. "Not like normal though. I think maybe it is a trinket or trapped somehow."

"Stay out here with her." Dean said.

Sam sat beside Kate and gave her a side hug.

Dean did a quick search of the house and found some familiar sigils. He found a box covered in demon proof scribbles. "This must be it."

Kate sat down in the car and brought her knees to her chest. She saw Dean walk out of the house with a box.

Sam looked at the box. "What do we do with that?"

Kate rolled down the window. "Burn it."

Dean shrugged. "I guess we burn it." He covered it in salt and let the flames consume the wooden box. When it was nothing but ash he stomped out the flames and got back in the car. "You did good, kid."

Kate took a deep breath. "Thanks. Were you testing me?"

Dean grimaced. "Kind of."

Kate frowned. "I understand why."

Dean tilted her chin. "We need to know how easily you can shift with that bracelet. I would never put you in danger."

Kate gave him a smile. "Do I get a treat?"

Dean laughed. "What kind?"

"Pie."

Sam grumbled. "You are just sucking up to him."

Kate grinned. "Everyone loves pie."

Dean headed back into town in search of a diner. He was really proud of her.

Taylor was looking at pictures that his mom kept on the walls. He had met his grandparents a few times but didn't remember much about them. "Hey, mom?"

His mom walked to him. "What is it?"

"Do you know much about our family?"

Misty dried her hands. "I know a good bit I guess."

"Did any come from Scotland?" Taylor asked.

"Yes, my grandmother moved from Scotland and met my grandfather here. Why?" Misty asked.

Taylor was hoping that knowing would answer questions but so many more had been raised. "I'd like to learn more about them. Do you have any photos or anything?"

Misty dug around in an old box. "Just these. Most things are just stories passed from person to person."

"What was her name?" Taylor asked.

"My grandmother was named Anne." Misty replied.

Taylor chewed his cheek and scrunched his brows.

"What is it?" Misty was concerned by the look on Taylor's face.

"Does the name Ada ring a bell?"

Misty thought for a moment. "Yes but I will need to ask your grandmother about it."

Taylor perked up. "Who is she?"

"There are many women named Ada but there used to be a story that when the English came and wiped out the highland clans, one of our ancestors was due to be executed for fighting against the British. The wife had just given birth to a boy and they were in danger. She gave the baby to a dear friend of hers and asked the other woman to take the baby and flee. I think that the other woman had a child as well and was capable of keeping the baby alive. She escaped with both children and settled in a safer part of Scotland." Misty tried to recall the story.

"The woman who took the baby was named Ada?"

Misty smiled. "Yes but it is an old fable."

Taylor's mind was racing. Is this why he and Kate were connected?

Misty asked him to help with the rest of the dishes. "I'll ask my mother about the story but who knows if it is real. It would be wild if it was true."

Taylor took a deep breath. "Yeah... wild."
