Kate sat on the couch at Bobby's house and wiped her tears. So much was going on and she was scared and worried.
Bobby had called Marie back and talked to her as she drove. They needed to keep everyone on the same page.
Marie hadn't realized how bad Craig had gotten but understood the need to skew the truth. She was horrified that Kate had gotten shot and Taylor was in the middle of such a tragic mess. Her only daughter was gone and she couldn't wrap her head around it. She drove straight to the police station as quickly as she could.
Sam was at the house with Kate and felt just as helpless. He couldn't go into town. He couldn't help John. He couldn't do anything but wait. He sat down beside Kate and focused on calming her down.
"Are we still going to California?" Kate asked.
Sam sighed. "I will stay if I need to. This is big."
"No, there isn't anything you could do. Are we all going to take you, though?" Kate looked up at him.
Sam rubbed the back of her head. "I don't have an answer to that."
Kate frowned. When they had dealt with everything surrounding her dad's death, she was in the middle of it. She was in survival mode and it was awful. Somehow, watching from the sidelines was worse.
Sam took a pillow and put it on his leg. He patted it. "Lay your head down."
Kate did and curled up beside him.
Sam turned the tv on low and brushed her hair from her face. He knew she was exhausted and he was too. If she could fall asleep, he may be able to rest as well. The sun was sinking lower but the day would not be ending any time soon.
Jody took out an interview sheet and wrote Taylor's information down. "Can you tell me what happened today?"
Taylor rubbed his eyes. "My mom and I got in to an argument this morning. My... dad... got mad at me for arguing and he got violent. I left and when I got back, I saw police cars at my house."
"Where did you go after you left your house?" Jody asked.
"To my friend's house." Taylor said.
Jody nodded. "Who is your friend?"
Taylor looked to Dean. "Her name is Kate Winchester."
Dean spoke up. "She is my sister. Taylor rode his bike over."
Jody looked from Dean to Taylor.
Taylor cleared his throat. "I was angry at my parents and just needed to blow off steam. Dean took me fishing with him."
She looked back to Dean.
Dean shrugged.
"When you say that your dad was violent, what do you mean?" Jody asked.
Taylor winced.
Jody gave him a sad smile. "Do you know where he would be right now?"
Taylor shrugged. "Probably at a bar or off somewhere getting drunk again. Where is my mom?"
Dean closed his eyes. He could hear the strain in Taylor's voice.
Jody grimaced.
"He killed her, didn't he?" Taylor asked.
"We do not know. There is evidence to suggest that she may have been in the house but no one knows yet." Jody said.
Taylor got up and paced.
Jody stood up as well. She approached him. "Do you mind if I just.." She opened her arm like she was going to hug him.
Taylor let her and let some tears escape.
Dean wasn't sure if it was an act or if the panic was getting to him.
Jody rocked side to side. "Just let it out. Is there anyone I can call?"
Taylor gave her Marie's phone number. He sat back on the couch and took the offered water.
Jody stepped outside the room to call Marie.
Taylor wiped his face and looked at Dean.
Dean raised an eyebrow.
"Don't look at me like that. She said to let it out. I was fine until she hugged me." Taylor said.
Dean smirked. "She's one of those people?"
Taylor nodded.
Dean put his arm back around Taylor. "It is okay to cry."
Taylor blinked the tears away. "Not now."
Jody walked back into the room. "Your grandmother is already on her way here. Someone got ahold of her when they saw the news."
Taylor took a deep breath. "Thank you."
"You look exhausted. Can I get you a pillow and blanket? If you are hungry I can get food for you." Jody offered.
Taylor sighed. "I am kind of hungry."
Jody patted his knee. "I'll get you boys something to eat and then we can talk a little bit more."
Dean pulled a face. She wasn't that much older than him and referred to him as a boy.
Taylor caught the face from the side of his eye. He smiled a little.
When Jody has left the room Dean scoffed. "Boy."
Taylor shifted. "She hurt your feelings." He teased.
"I am a man, a grown man." Dean said with a smirk.
"You are still a little gangly, you could pass for a teenager." Taylor replied.
Dean very lightly smacked the back of his head. "I am far from gangly. Sam is gangly."
"Sam is taller than you." Taylor said. "So he can be gangly."
Dean narrowed his eyes. "He is not."
Taylor nodded. "By this much." He held up his thumb and pointer finger to show a small gap.
Dean took a sip of his coffee. "Shut up."
Jody returned with food and got an update on the search for Craig. A report had come in with a possible lead from a car fire. She took the food into the waiting room and sat it down. "I took a wild guess on what you liked. I didn't think to ask before I left."
Dean opened the bag. "Thank you."
She went back out to speak to a detective about the possible lead.
Marie introduced herself to the receptionist and was sent back to the room that Taylor and Dean were in. She knocked softly on the door and opened it.
When Taylor saw her, his face fell. He put his burger down and hugged her. His shoulders slumped and he lost the composure that he had been keeping.
Dean saw the vulnerability and quietly left the room so that Taylor could grieve. He walked over to officer Mills' desk and tapped on it.
Jody looked up at him. "How is he holding up?"
"He is shaken up but doesn't want to show it." Dean said.
Jody motioned to the chair at the side of her desk. "So he is friends with your sister?"
Dean nodded. "He is a good kid. He doesn't deserve this."
Jody frowned. "No, he doesn't. Do you know him well?"
Dean shrugged. "Pretty well. He hangs out at the house a lot. My old man can be a pain in the ass so I get wanting to get away for a bit. I didn't know his was bad though."
"From what you know of the family, do you think, " she looked down at the form in her hand, "Craig had anything to do with that explosion?"
"I know he is ex military. I can't say for sure either way." Dean said. He could say for sure but needed to keep himself neutral.
"Where do you live?" Jody asked.
Dean bit the inside of his cheek. "Right now just outside of town. We are staying with an uncle."
Jody thought the address was familiar. "Wait, Bobby Singer?"
Dean froze. "Uh, yes."
Jody looked through her files. "Whole lot of drunken disorderlies and disturbing the peace."
Dean had to back peddle. "He is rough around the edges but has been nothing but good to my family."
Jody raised an eyebrow. "Haven't heard much from him in a while."
Dean cursed in his head. "Believe it or not, he is a teddy bear underneath the grumbly exterior. My sister has him wrapped around her finger."
Jody smiled. "Sounds like she has a few people wrapped around her finger."
Dean nodded. "Everyone she meets."
A call came in and Jody took it. She gave Dean a wink and tilted her head toward the room.
Dean went back in and sat down across from the couch.
Taylor had calmed down and was just staring at the floor.
Marie hugged Dean. "Thank you for keeping him safe and being here with him."
"Yes, ma'am. It is no problem."
John had put out a tip and rolled Craig's car down a small cliff. He made sure it caught fire and left the scene. He called Bobby to get an update and then made a beeline for the house.
Jody pulled some strings and it was agreed that Taylor could return if they had more questions. There was no reason to keep him there since he had not been home all day. "Just don't leave town yet. You need to be close by."
Marie thanked her profusely and took Taylor with her to the car.
Taylor was dazed and tired.
Dean asked Marie what she wanted to do. "We can make room back at Bobby's."
Marie looked at Taylor and nodded. "I think that is a good idea."
Kate woke up as soon as the screen door squeaked. She saw Taylor and put her arms around him.
Sam gave Marie a small smile and held the door for her. He introduced her to Bobby and went upstairs to move things around.
Dean called John and then peeled Kate away from Taylor. "Give him some space. Sit down."
Kate frowned but did as she was told.
Dean went to help Sam. "Where are we going to fit people? Dad is on his way too."
Sam moved a bed over. "He can take the basement or the couch, Marie can have this room and Taylor can decide if he wants to bunk with us or with her."
"I guess I should ask if she plans to sleep here or not." Dean said. He went back down to speak to her. "I don't we will be doing a lot of sleeping but Kate's bed is yours if you want it. She can sleep in our room. It is far from a 5 star hotel but Taylor can stay in either room."
Marie considered it and agreed.
Taylor was dead on his feet. His head hurt and he felt raw.
Dean put a gentle hand on his shoulder. "If you feel like it, why don't you go on to bed. It's okay."
Taylor slowly looked up at him. "I can't."
Dean checked the time. "How about just rest for a little bit?"
Taylor gave in and went up with Dean.
"Which room do you want to sleep in?" Dean asked.
Taylor glanced at his normal bed.
"That is still your bed. You just have the choice of Fort Winchester or bunking with Marie." Dean said.
Taylor raised a brow. "Fort Winchester?"
Dean nodded. "Take your pick."
Taylor went to his bed and flopped down.
Dean sighed and told him to let them know if he needed anything.
Taylor gave him a half hearted thumbs up and turned his head.
An hour later, everyone was back at Bobby's. The house was packed but not loud.
Dean pulled Kat to the side. "I need you to head up to bed too. You are getting tired and you can let us know if Taylor has any issues."
Kate hugged him. "Okay."
Dean ruffled her hair and turned back to the kitchen as she went up the stairs.
Kate brushed her teeth and grabbed her blankets. She put them on the mat and curled up after making sure Taylor was asleep. Her heart was sad and her mind was worried. Dean was right though, she was tired. She pulled a blanket over her face and fell asleep.
Marie was pleased with the family that Taylor had found his way into. He was, legally, supposed to live with her but she was second guessing it. "What exactly happened today?"
Dean rubbed his face. "Taylor went by his house this morning. Sam and I dropped Kate and Taylor off at a friend's house. Taylor wanted to stop by to see if Misty was home and he did. When he got there, he soon realized Craig was there too. They argued and Kate showed up to help Taylor. She got shot in the chest, by Craig and the kids ran. Now, she heals so she is okay now but he did shoot her. Some time after they left, Craig must have done something to Misty and planted the explosives. Sam and Bobby found Misty in Taylor's room and the room was wired. We think that it was Craig's intention for Taylor to be the one who set it off."
Marie was, once again, horrified. "Taylor is a child."
"Craig was not sober when I found him." John said. "He rarely was but he was beyond his normal brand of crazy."
"Where is he now?" Marie asked.
John sighed. "I dealt with him and made it look like he offed himself."
Marie's eyes grew big.
"He shot Kate and would have shot Taylor if he had the chance. He rigged a bomb, meaning to kill Taylor and instead, almost killed Sam and Bobby. If I had turned him in, he was going to tell authorities about the kids' abilities." John said.
Marie shook her head. "Oh, no I'm not saying what you did was wrong. You just have to give me a minute to catch up. He killed Misty?"
Bobby nodded. "Yes. She was gone when we got there."
Marie looked toward the stairs. "Poor Bub. Taylor is such a wonderful person and this is just..."
"Not fair." Dean said.
They talked for a few more hours until all bases were covered. They decided to get some sleep while they could and regroup the next morning.
Taylor woke up in a cold sweat the next morning. He had a nightmare and was confused.
Kate appeared at his side. "Taylor, it's okay. Hey, look at me."
Taylor's eyes settled on her. He hugged her roughly and let out a breath of air.
Kate squeaked.
Taylor let her go and looked around the room. Sam had woken up and Dean was sitting on the end of his bed.
"What's wrong?" Kate asked.
Taylor was pale. "What if he becomes a ghost? I had a dream he became a ghost and all of you were... you were..."
Dean sat on the end of Taylor's bed. "He can't haunt you. Salt and burn."
Taylor was confused.
"I told you, dad knows what he is doing. He can't haunt you. It is over. He can't do anything."
Taylor calmed down and looked at the window. "It is morning."
"You slept all night." Sam said.
Taylor rubbed his face. The previous day hit him again and he started to hyperventilate.
Dean sent Kate and Sam out of the room and got in front of Taylor. "Breathe. In. Out."
Taylor shook his head and balled his fists.
Dean opened the window and slid out. "Come on before you take out Bobby's fancy décor."
Taylor felt the humor chip away at some of the panic and followed Dean.
Dean sat beside Taylor and spoke in a calm voice. "Can you direct it in one direction instead of a circle?"
Taylor stared at his hands. "I..I.. don't know."
Dean pointed to a concrete gnome in Bobby's back yard. "See if you can take out that goblin thing. It has plagued me since I was a kid."
Taylor focused and pushed his anger and panic through his finger tips.
The gnome broke, as well as a bench and some of the garden.
Taylor put his hands over his mouth. "Oh no."
Bobby exited the back door and looked around. "What the?" He looked up and saw Dean and Taylor sitting on the roof.
Taylor started to apologize but was poked in the side by Dean.
"If you were aiming for the gnome then I know who came up with that idea." Bobby said with a huff.
Taylor gave Dean a worried look.
Dean smirked. "The gnome is a long story. How do you feel?"
Taylor let a breath out. "Better. I didn't mean to break the bench."
Dean shrugged. "You'll get the hang of it. That gnome never stood a chance."
"Were you scared of the gnome, Dean?" Taylor asked with a slight smile in his voice.
Dean scooted down to the lower part of the roof and hopped off. "The gnome was evil."
Taylor jumped down as well.
Bobby was still outside. "What he means is when he was a kid he was running from Sam and not looking where he was going. He tripped over it and knocked his two front teeth out. Took a year to grow back in."
Taylor looked at the broken gnome. "Well now I feel bad for taking the poor guy out."
Dean kicked the gnome pieces. "Good riddance."
Bobby smacked the back of Dean's head.
"Ow." Dean said and rubbed his head.
"Your idea so you can clean up the mess. Taylor, come on inside." Bobby said.
Dean scoffed and went to pick up the concrete pieces and see if the bench was fixable.
Taylor nudged Bobby and gave him a crooked grin. He waited for Dean to turn away from the gnome before flicking the head toward Dean's feet.
Dean felt something hit his bare foot and jumped, landing on a pebble and hopping on one foot to make sure the pebbled foot wasn't injured. He recoiled at the sudden appearance of the evil head and flicked his eyes toward the house. He saw Taylor and Bobby quickly duck into the house and shook his head. Stupid gnome. Last thing he needed was a haunted gnome.
Taylor had a small smile until he looked up and saw John. He quickly dropped the smile and froze.
"Oh, I'm all for giving Dean a hard time. You go right ahead." John said and sipped his coffee.
Taylor relaxed.
"So you can move stuff around?" John asked.
Taylor slowly nodded. "I have been able to but not much. I could scoot small stuff a few inches." He remembered the cars. "Oh no, Bobby, how much damage did I do?"
Bobby handed him some orange juice. "Nothing that wasn't okay to be broken anyway. Had to redistribute the gravel though. Didn't want anyone thinking it was a crop circle."
Taylor caught on that he was joking and smiled. He heard faint chatter from Bobby's office and furrowed his brows. "Police scanner?"
John nodded. "I can go turn that off."
Taylor shook his head. "The more we know, the better, right?"
"We know what really happened." He went and turned it off.
Taylor sighed and rested his head on the table.
Dean tossed the gnome pieces in the garbage and grabbed some coffee. "Just so you know, I stepped on a rock. If I am stuck hobbling around, you will be doing my bidding."
Taylor lifted his head. "You are awful jumpy for someone who hunts monsters for a living."
Dean rolled his eyes. "It is because I hunt monsters. The gnome is evil. Of course I'm going to jump when it tries to grab my foot."
Sam showed up in the doorway. "The gnome again?"
Bobby nodded.
Kate walked down the stairs with Marie. "I hope you have extra coffee."
Bobby refilled the pot. "You know I keep extra on hand."
Marie kissed Taylor on the top of his head and sat down. She had wanted to meet the family but not under these circumstances.
Kate sat down in a chair and took a bite from an apple.
Dean looked around at the lack of chairs and looked at Kate.
Kate chewed quickly. "No, don't even think about it." She bailed out of he chair and let him sit down.
Dean grinned and let her sit back down on one of his legs.
Kate looked up and met Marie's eyes. "He squishes me if I don't move."
Marie smiled warmly. They obviously had a great relationship.
Sam went to the freezer and grabbed some food for breakfast. The kitchen was crowded but he made his way to the oven and put the pan in. He reached over Bobby and got more coffee cups and filled them. He nudged Kate's hand away from the coffee. "Nope. You don't get caffeine."
Kate gave him a fake whine. "I'm 11, my blood should be 50 percent coffee by now."
"Coffee will stunt your growth." Dean said with a poke to her ribs.
Taylor grinned. "So did you start drinking it sooner than Sam?"
Dean tried to kick him under the table. "He is not the same size as me yet."
Taylor looked from Dean to Sam. "I told him you were taller."
Sam stretched. "Let's see."
Dean held onto Kate. "No."
Kate tried to wiggle free. "Ah come on, I need to see this!" She got free from his grasp and fell in the floor with a thud.
Dean threw his hands up. "Fine!"
They stood back to back and Kate stood on the chair to measure. "You are not the same size."
Dean laughed. "Told ya!"
John cleared his throat as he took Sam's seat. "Sorry to tell you son but he is taller than you are."
Dean scoffed. "No way."
Kate squeaked happily. "Wait, are you taller than him?" She looked to John with excitement in her eyes.
"Yeah, dad, is he taller than you?" Dean teased.
John stood up and stood next to Sam.
Kate squinted her eyes. "It is a close call but Sammy still has growin' years."
Sam grinned.
Dean rolled his eyes. "We always thought you were shorter because you walk hunched over like a mopey teenager."
Sam looked around and realized John had taken his chair. He eyed Taylor.
Taylor stood up. "Nah man. You sit your giant self down, not on me."
Sam gave him a smirk. "I happen to have more manners than this Neanderthal." He said, flicking Dean's ear. "He grabbed a milk crate from the laundry room and flipped it upside down. He sat down and put his coffee down. "Look, still the same height as you guys."
Dean kicked the crate with his heel.
Sam nearly fell off but caught himself.
John cleared his throat. "Would you two stop acting like fools? We have a guest."
Dean and Sam both looked sheepishly at Marie.
Marie chuckled. "Go right on ahead."
The oven chimed and Kate jumped up to get the pan out. She tiptoed to reach the cabinet with plates and moved back when she saw a hand reaching for them.
Taylor grabbed the plates and helped her pass them out. He threw a banana to Dean. "Eat that. You'll need the potassium to help with all the muscles you pulled getting up on those rocks."
John snorted as he sipped his coffee.
"Every single one of them turn on me." Dean said.
John took his plate from Kate. "Son, have you thought that maybe, after they have been around you for a while, they start acting like you?"
Dean looked around the room. "I have no idea what you mean."
Marie understood why Taylor had found a home with them. He had plenty of brothers but none that gave him a fraction of the time these boys did. She had heard Taylor talk about them and his general demeanor was much brighter recently. Even though he had went through a tragedy the day before, his spirit was lifted by the back and forth she was watching.
Dean pointed to the cinnamon roll on his plate with his fork. He swallowed the mouthful he had. "We need to know how you make these."
Marie smiled. "I don't give out my recipes."
Dean scoffed. "I just need a couple of them."
Kate raised a brow. "Do you plan on cooking them?"
Dean pulled a face. "No, that is what you and Taylor are for."
Kate rolled her eyes but gave him a crooked grin before she continued eating.
After breakfast was eaten and dishes cleaned, Dean announced he was going for a run. "You two going with me?"
Kate groaned. "Do I have to?"
"You do. Taylor, do you want to go?" Dean asked.
Taylor shrugged. "Sure." He got his shoes and met Dean on the porch. "How's the back?"
"You didn't knock me back that hard." He said with a playful shove. "You better stop with the old man jokes. I still have another 30 years before I'm old."
Marie watched them take off down the dirt path. "He is good with them."
John had gotten yet another cup of coffee. "Oh he loves it. He acts like he doesn't but Sam used to follow him around like a puppy. He would teach Sam something new and it was like a magic trick every time. Sam is headed off to Stanford so Dean is back to wowing the children when he can."
Marie had been thinking about it all morning and decided to just bring it up. "Should he stay here?"
John sighed. "I wouldn't be the one to ask."
"I love that boy more than anything. I'd love to have him live with me but I don't know if that is fair to him. He fits in here. He has his school here and his teams. Out where I live, there isn't much. My husband is in poor health and I worry." She said.
Bobby sat down in one of the chairs. "He is welcome to if he wants to."
Marie sat down as well. "This is also where his mother died. He was happy just a bit ago but the pain is there, underneath it all. I know he wont give me a straight answer one way or the other. He'd see it as imposing himself and not want to hurt anyone's feelings."
Bobby chuckled. "That does sound like him."
"I can never thank you all enough for taking him under your wing." Marie said.
"He's good for the kids. He kind of evens them out." Bobby said.
"He told me he messed up pretty bad but seemed to forget about it pretty quick." Marie said. "He really is a great kid. I think he is hard on himself."
John cleared his throat. "He thinks he messed up pretty bad. Dean had a talk with him but he's been fine since then. My two boys were hellions. Taylor is great."
Sam heard himself mentioned. "I wouldn't say hellion."
Bobby huffed. "I'd say hellion."
"Dean was a hellion." Sam said.
John smirked. "You still give us more issues on a daily basis than Taylor has the entire time he has been here."
Sam shrugged. "Point made."
"So it can be his choice." Marie said. "I just don't know how to get the truth from him."
"I'll talk to him about it. He will be honest with me." Sam said.
Dean kept a decent pace for an entire lap before stopping. "Kate, how do you feel this morning? Got any smart remarks rolling around in your head?"
Kate put her hands on her hips. "I didn't until you said that."
Dean ruffled her hair. "Head back inside then."
Taylor looked at him. "Do you want my remarks in chronological order?"
Dean snorted. "I was going to ask if you wanted to take another lap before going back."
Taylor looked toward the house. "One more."
Dean let him walk ahead so he could pick the pace. He kept up with him and just let Taylor work through what was in his head. They got back around to the house and stopped. "Where is that enthusiasm when I have you up running laps normally?"
Taylor took a deep breath. "You usually wake me up before I want to get up and the sound of you struggling to keep up fueled me."
Dean grabbed him in a head lock. "Do I need to knock you back down?"
Taylor pushed against him. He drove a foot into the back of Dean's knee and caused them both to fall. He laughed. "Uh, is that what you meant?"
Dean flopped his arms to the side and looked up at the sky. "Look who learned a new trick."
Sam went outside. "Did you win?"
Dean put his hand in the air and gave a thumbs up.
Taylor sat up. "I took out his knee."
Dean bent his knee. "Nope, still works." He sat up and looked at Sam. "What?"
Sam smiled. "From the window, all I saw was your head and then suddenly I didn't."
Dean scoffed. "Because I was laying on the ground."
Taylor looked to him to make sure he hadn't crossed a line.
Dean held his hand out. "Help me up since it is your fault I'm down here."
Taylor grinned and pulled Dean's hand.
Sam let Dean pass and stopped Taylor. "Hey, if you are okay to talk, I had something to run by you."
Taylor sat down on the steps of the porch. "What is it?"
Sam tilted his head toward the cars and stepped back.
Taylor hopped up and followed. "That bad, huh?"
Sam sat on the hood of a car. "No. I just figured you'd want privacy."
Taylor sighed. "What is it?"
"There is still a lot going on. It isn't just going to go away. Things wont be normal for a while. Legally, if something happened to both guardians, your grandmother would get custody of you. That is an option. You are also welcome to stay here." Sam said.
Taylor frowned. "She doesn't want me to go with her?"
Sam shook his head. "It isn't that at all. She would love to have you go with her. Problem is we also like having you here. Her house is out of the way of all this mess. Bobby's house is close to your school. She is your family by blood. It is your choice."
Taylor sighed. "I will go where I am told."
"No. This specifically is your choice." Sam said.
"How am I going to decide that?" Taylor paced. "I'm a kid. I love my nana. She is older and takes care of my grandpa. I'm in the way here sometimes."
Sam stopped him. "You are not in the way here, at all. You are not a problem for her either. You are not going to hurt anyone's feelings or impose on anyone. If you decide to go one way and later on decide you don't like it, you are welcome the other way. This is your life. You get to control it."
Taylor looked at him like he had grown wings. "What? I can't control anything! I'll go either way."
Sam gave him a small smile. "Pro and cons?"
Taylor sucked in a breath of air.
"If you go live with Marie, you will be with blood family, well we are blood family too but you'll be around the animals. It is peaceful and you can still do sports at the school over there. If you stay here it will be like it has been. You'll be exposed to the supernatural and have to deal with Dean's mood swings." Sam said, lightly.
Taylor traced his name in the dust on one of the cars. "I don't know."
"You don't have to decide right now. The adults just want to make sure you know you can choose. Forget about how people feel for a minute. What does Taylor want?" Sam asked. "You can tell me. I'm a neutral party. I'm not going to repeat anything. If you feel one way now and another way in an hour, that is okay."
Taylor sat on the car hood and looked up at the sky. He still had to figure out the angel business. Would him going to Marie's house bring trouble to her? He was quiet for a few minutes before speaking up. "I want to stay."
Sam gave him a small smile. "That is what you want? This isn't what you think others want?"
Taylor groaned. "I want to find out who I am. I want to figure out my abilities and help Kate too. I feel like I am part of something. If I go with her, I think that she will get caught in the crossfire."
Sam nodded. "You can keep thinking on it. If that is your final decision that is okay too."
Taylor smirked. "You are leaving. Somebody needs to keep Dean and Kate from killing each other."
"It would be a good idea to stay clear of those battles. Kate has to figure some stuff out by trial and error." Sam said.
Taylor shrugged. "Maybe so."
They went back into the house and instantly felt the crowding. It wasn't a bad thing. Somehow it felt right.
Kate showed Marie some of the research they had done and Marie was impressed. "You must have a gift for this."
Chatter centered around plans and coping with the days ahead.
Kate looked across the room to Taylor. "Did you get a chance to look at that photo?"
Taylor shrugged. "Yeah but it didn't have a name or anything." He ran up the stairs to grab it.
Kate took it and furrowed her brows. She thought that the man looked familiar but the photo was faded and not well taken care of.
Taylor showed Marie and got a similar reaction.
John leaned over to look at it and grew quiet. "May I?" He stepped toward Bobby and turned the photo to him.
"Is that.." Bobby rubbed his scruffy chin.
John nodded slowly.
Bobby resituated his ball cap and grumbled. "Balls."
Thank you for reading this far. You are all amazing. I figured we needed some fluff to go with all the angst. Virtual cookies to whoever can guess who Taylor's dad is.
