Tamilyn- I do like Liam as a name and that would be a cute tribute. I think I'll go with that after they razz Dean a bit. I had a cat named Liam and he was the best.

Dean debated telling Taylor and Kate that Jo was missing. He didn't want them to worry but keeping something like that from them, especially Taylor, could backfire. He left the driveway and finally spoke. "Once I drop you off.. I'm going to work on tracking somebody down. Let me explain before you panic. Jo ran off and Ellen needs help figuring out where she went. She is probably just sulking a town or two over but Bobby asked me to work on it."

Kate's eyes grew wide. "Is she okay?"

Dean didn't know. He remembered when Sam ran off to Flagstaff and schooled his expression. "I'm going to try to call her and talk to her. Worst case scenario, if I haven't gotten ahold of her by this afternoon, you two could possibly help."

Taylor took a deep breath. "She has run off before, right?"

Dean smirked. "Yeah, that's how Kate and I ran into her."

Taylor was worried but it was very likely that Jo had just left.

"I wasn't going to say anything because I didn't want either of you to worry but I also promised not to hide or lie to you." Dean said.

Kate sighed. "You have until the end of the school day before the pros step in."

Dean chuckled. "I can't let some little kids show me up." He nudged Taylor. "She is okay."

Taylor gave him a small smile. He thought about Ellen and cringed. "If you find her, you should bring her back to Bobby's."

Dean laughed. "Not if that means getting between her and Ellen. That woman terrifies me."

Taylor smirked. He didn't think Ellen was that scary.

Dean dropped them off and revved baby's engine for the trio of fans that had formed to get a look at the car before he sped off. He called Bobby and asked for Jo's number. He tried calling her but the phone was off. Damn it. Why was he handpicked for this specific job? Maybe there were several hunters trying to get ahold of her and he was just helping.

Bobby gave Caleb a map and a long list of numbers and places.

Dean ran into the house but everything was already ready. "Does Ellen have any idea where she may have gone?"

Bobby shook his head. "She checked all the usual places. She is afraid that Jo went on a hunt."

Dean swore under his breath. "We will be back in a little bit."

Bobby saw them off and then went back to making calls of his own. Jo was a smart girl but misjudged her level of experience. He just hoped she hadn't gotten herself into a bad situation.

"How'd you get put on the Jo case?" Caleb asked.

Dean groaned. "I'd say it is because the last 'case' she was on, Kate and I kept her from becoming a meatsuit. It may also be because she is Taylor's half sister."

Caleb turned the music off. "What?"

"Taylor found out his biological dad was Bill Harvelle." Dean said.

Caleb blinked. "What the hell is going on. It is like anyone who runs into you winds up in crazy town."

Dean couldn't argue with that observation. "Welcome to crazy town." He drove to the first possible location and got out of the car.

They split up and asked the locals if they had seen anyone matching Jo's description.

At lunch, Kate approached Taylor. "I can't shake the anxiety."

Taylor was nervous. "I feel it too. Do you think it is Jo?"

"I don't know. I just really hope she is okay." Kate said. The thought of Jo being in danger made her queasy. She had spoken to Jo and hoped that their conversation hadn't caused Jo to try to hunt.

### ###

Jo sat with her back against the wall as she waited for somebody. She had gotten a tip from another hunter and left during the night to be at the drop off. She had shut her phone off so that she didn't have to deal with the hundreds of calls and messages. She was ready to hunt and besides, she wasn't really hunting. She was hunting a place.

A man walked into the restaurant and placed a folder on the table as he walked by. He went to the restroom for a few minutes and then left again.

Jo paid for her meal and left as well. She was wanting to talk to the man but he didn't seem in the mood to chat. She walked to the motel room she had gotten and opened the folder. There were several papers with a symbol that looked like what Kate was describing. She had pieced together a little bit of information by eavesdropping and reading over people's shoulders. What ever the place was, it was mysterious.

### ###

Dean was growing frustrated. If Jo was nearby, she was covering her tracks well.

Caleb got back into the car. "Now what?"

Dean tapped his fingers along the steering wheel. "The kids."

Caleb sighed. "Is it a good idea to keep using them?"

"I'm not using them." Dean said.

"It doesn't worry you at all? They are just kids but that is a lot of power." Caleb said.

Dean eyed him. "I confided in you because I trust you. Don't ruin that. Kate is hot headed but we are working on it. She wants to help people. Taylor handles himself really well."

Caleb shrugged. "Just keep a level head."

Dean dialed Bobby's number. "Hey, Bobby. I think we need backup."

Bobby was approaching the same conclusion. The longer Jo was out, the more danger she could be in.

### ###

"Taylor Harvelle, Katelyn Winchester, please come to the principal's office." A voice sounded over the intercom.

They had just gotten back to class from lunch and Kate had no idea what she had done wrong. She gathered her stuff and excused herself from the room.

Taylor picked up his pace when he saw Kate. "Why did we get called to the office?"

Kate shrugged.

The receptionist motioned for them to sit down. "Your uncle will be here to pick you up in a moment."

Taylor felt his heart drop. Had they found Jo? Was she not okay?

Kate chewed her fingers an bounced her legs. Her mind was spinning.

Bobby parked in front of the school and ran in. He signed both kids out and ushered them to the car.

"Bobby, is she okay?" Kate asked.

Bobby shook his head. "Nobody has found her. We need you two to locate her."

Taylor let out a baited breath. At least she could still be okay. "Katie, how do you want to do this?"

Kate fidgeted. "I have talked to Jo about different stuff. What if she went on a hunt because of me."

Bobby reached back and squeezed Kate's knee. "Even if you fed her the information, you cannot control what she does with it. This isn't the first time she has ran off so don't you dare blame yourself."

Kate sniffled.

Taylor nudged her. "Game plan. If you boost me, I might be able to push into her head."

"Go ahead. I'll let you know when we get home." Bobby said.

Taylor closed his eyes and tried to form a connection. He had only just Jo and he couldn't quite find a thread.

Kate felt pain behind her eye. She searched for anything that she could have talked to Jo about that Jo would have gone after. "The symbol. I think she may be in Kansas." There was a reason the symbol was at the front of her mind.

Bobby pulled into the driveway. "Can you give me a bit more than a state?"

Taylor ran into the house and gathered things that Jo had given him. He refocused and used Kate to boost his ability. He could see damp ground and an alleyway between apartment buildings. He saw the sun going down and he heard footsteps. He felt a hand grab his arm and another cover his mouth. He got the tiniest glimpse of a face before his vision was gone.

Kate sat back in horror. "She is in trouble."

Taylor looked at Kate. "Or she will be."

Bobby called Dean. "Dean, the kids have something." He described what they had witnessed.

Dean swore under his breath. "Did they see street signs or anything?"

Taylor felt his head spinning.

Kate spoke up. "Maybe we can push a thought into her head. We can't call her but she needs to know she is in danger."

Taylor did his best but wasn't sure if it worked.

Bobby pulled him back. "Take a break, son."

Taylor laid on his side in the floor as the migraine split his head.

### ###

Jo was sitting on her motel bed when a ringing started in her ear. She heard a faint whisper, or she thought she did. She suddenly felt anxious and wanted to turn her phone on. She pushed the thought away and went back to the map she was looking at. It was getting later in the day and she wanted to check out the local library. She left the room and started the lengthy walk to the library.

### ###

Dean had driven based on Kate's directions. He was on edge and worried. He saw the sun begin to sink lower. "Damn it."

Caleb looked at the sky. "How do they know the vision was true."

"They don't but I can't just sit back." Dean said.

Once they got to the town in question, the sun was casting long shadows against buildings. It had rained earlier and the concrete was damp. Dean and Caleb split up to check the streets between the apartments in town.

### ###

Jo was on her way back from the library. The sunset was pretty. The air was warm but there was a breeze. She turned down a walkway between buildings. She sidestepped around a puddle and caught the scent of someone's detergent seeping from the vent outside their house. She heard something hit the ground and turned but saw nothing. She guessed she was about a mile from the motel and had time to make it back before the sun set completely.

She felt a hard hand wrap around her arm and tried to fight back. Another hand clamped over her mouth. She bit down on a finger and felt the hand pressing harder against her teeth to force her to let go. She tried to throw an elbow but she was being pushed toward a door. She couldn't reach her knife or gun.

Dean bit the inside of his cheek when Jo bit into his hand. She was completely oblivious that he had been walking toward her. She was even more oblivious that there were others following her. "It is Dean. You are in danger. I'm going to uncover your mouth. Do not scream."

Jo whirled around with a murderous look on her face. "What the hell?!"

Dean put his finger to his mouth. "Demons." He put a hand up to motion for her to stay. "Stay here. You were being followed." He stepped out of the doorway and was quickly approached by a man with black eyes. He managed to draw the knife and plunge it into the man's chest.

A red light flickered inside the man's body and went out as he dropped.

Dean got the knife out of the man's body and posted up for a second attack. He was shocked that the knife worked. He heard a piece of gravel crunch and whirled around. "Damn it, Jo." He tried to shove her back towards the door. He barely managed to lunge and end a second demon before it had the chance to throw him across the street. A third was at the end of the alley. Dean swore again as the man turned and ran. If he saw the knife kill the first two demons, it was likely that he had gone to report it.

Jo was wide eyed. "What kind of knife is that?" She squeaked when Dean grabbed her arm and forced her to run to keep up with him. "Let go of me."

Dean pulled her to him. "Keep your mouth shut. There could be more."

Jo wanted to fight against him but she was too confused. Where had he come from? Why was he there at that specific time?

Caleb got a message that said to return to the car and he ran back down the street. He saw Dean with Jo and felt relieved.

Once they were back in the car, Dean asked Caleb to message Bobby. "Do you have a room here?"

Jo scoffed. "Maybe."

Dean glared into the rearview mirror. "If we are being followed, we need to get somewhere we can regroup."

Jo rolled her eyes and gave him the name of the motel. She reluctantly handed over her key to Caleb and fought the urge to punch Dean when he pulled her from the backseat and made her walk right beside him. Once they were inside and the salt lines were repaired she spoke. "What the hell is your problem?"

Dean gritted his teeth. "You had three demons on you and didn't even realize that I had approached you."

Jo turned red. "Why were you there?"

"Because Taylor and Kate were terrified and used their abilities to find you." Dean said. "Where is your phone?"

Jo guarded her bag.

Dean shrugged and dialed Ellen's number on his own phone.

Ellen jumped when the phone rang. She scrambled to answer it. "Hello? Dean?"

"I've got her Ellen." Dean said.

Jo stomped her foot. There was a reason she had not contacted her mom.

Dean gave Ellen the general area they were in. "We can meet you."

Ellen wanted to speak to Jo. "Jo? Are you okay? Were you hurt? Why did you leave?"

Jo sighed. "I'm fine, mama. Dean showed up and kidnapped me."

Ellen felt her temper rise. "Joanna Beth!"

"No, mom. I was fine." Jo said.

Dean tilted his head toward the bathroom and Caleb knew he was supposed to make sure it didn't have a window. He felt awkward caught between two people who looked like they wanted to kill each other.

Ellen knew she wasn't going to get through to Jo. "Dean, see if you can get her to tell you what happened. I am going to make some calls to call of the search. Thank you Dean."

Dean felt his heartbreak at the emotion in Ellen's voice. When Sam had gone to Flagstaff he had nearly died not knowing if Sam was okay. Then, when they found him, he was so relieved but also so angry.

Jo was seething by the time Dean got off the phone.

Dean made eye contact with her and knew she was about to snap.

"How dare you grab me and throw me around like that. I was fine on my own. Where are my damn books!?" Jo yelled.

Dean cooled his anger. "You dropped them."

Jo got into Dean's personal space. "They were important. God, Dean." She reached for the doorknob but had her arm pulled back.

"You are not leaving this room." Dean said.

Jo growled. "Those books have personal information in them."

Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "Your journal?"

Jo gave him a look that said 'of course, idiot.'

Dean fought the urge to shake her. "Caleb, can you go get the books?"

Caleb shrugged. "I'll look for them." He honestly just wanted away from the tension.

Jo started putting stuff in her duffle. She was angry that her hunt had been ruined and even more angry that Dean wasn't acknowledging that he had manhandled her.

Dean calmed himself. Jo was like Kate when it came to screwing up. It was a similar reaction to that of a caged racoon. "Jo, what were you doing?"

Jo turned on him. "It doesn't matter because you ruined it."

"You were hunting.. alone.." Dean said. He genuinely wanted to know what Jo was doing.

"I was looking or a place. I wasn't looking for creatures. So, duh I'm going to do it alone." Jo said.

Dean nodded. "You weren't looking for creatures but they were looking for you." Dean said.

Jo felt her temper flare again. She shoved him back with her hand against his chest. "They didn't show up until you did!"

Dean closed his eyes and then opened them again. "The reason I grabbed you like I did was because they had turned down the wrong alleyway. I grabbed you and pulled you into a stairwell so I had a chance to fight them."

"What was that knife?" Jo asked.

"It is a demon knife. I have never used it before but thank god it worked." Dean said.

Jo wanted to know more but was too angry.

"What were you looking for?" Dean asked.

"I told you, a place." Jo snipped.

"What place, Jo? What brought you all the way out here?" Dean asked.

Jo shoved him again. "Mind your own business."

Dean gritted his teeth. He had to remain calm. "If you had asked for help, this could have been avoided. I could be on a hunt of my own or at Bobby's right now."

Jo pulled her hand back and went to slap his face.

Dean caught her wrist before she made contact with his cheek. He took a deep breath and used a calm but firm tone. "Jo, if you try to hit me again I am going to take my belt to your ass."

Jo jerked her arm back and stepped back. "You can't do that."

Dean eyed her. "Do not hit me. Do not make a run for it. Sit down and tell me what the hell you were doing."

Jo put her hands on her hips. "Who died and made you god? Seriously, Dean. You are an arrogant bastard."

Dean didn't react to the verbal attack.

Jo grabbed her bag. "If you so much as touch me, my mom will kill you."

Dean leaned against the door. "If you push me and force my hand, I'll load the gun for her. She would probably be pretty upset with me but that would be okay because I would rather have a price on my head than let Taylor lose his one remaining family member because she was too set on getting herself killed."

Jo sat back on the bed. "Oh, Taylor."

"They saw someone grab you and saw black eyes. That is what they have bouncing around in their heads. The whole time between that vision to me alerting Bobby that you were okay, those two kids have been fretting that I wouldn't make it in time." Dean said.

"My mom blew everything out of proportion." Jo said.

"She couldn't get ahold of you." Dean said.

"Yeah, I turned my phone off FOR A REASON." Jo said, standing quickly and standing toe to toe with Dean.

"I am trying to help you." Dean said.

Jo was covering her fear with anger. She spun away from him, hitting him with the ends of her hair. She leaned against the small counter and crossed her arms. "If you were trying to help you'd let me continue my search."

Dean felt like he was going to physically explode. His arguments with Kate had prepared him for this argument but Jo was older than Kate. He saw her hand dart to the side and had his belt off and doubled in his hand in the blink of an eye.

"Dean... what the hell are you doing?" Jo asked.

"You were about to throw that at me." Dean said.

Jo looked to her hand. She had grabbed the soap basin. "Dean.. I'm not going to throw it." She held both hands in front of her. She stepped away from the counter.

"Talk." Dean said.

Jo swallowed. "Put that back on."

Dean looked down at his hand. "No. Talk."

Caleb had located the books and returned to the motel to find Dean holding his belt in his hand and Jo inching herself into a corner. "Is everything okay here?"

Dean nodded. "Yep. She was just about to tell me what is going on."

Caleb eyed Jo. He wasn't sure what had transpired. "Uh, should I go back outside."

Dean shut the door. "No."

Jo swallowed. "I got a tip about this place that is supposed to have supernatural weapons. I have been researching and I think I may have narrowed it down." She nodded toward the books Caleb held in his hands. "There is a drawing with numbers in the book with the green cover." She kept her back to the wall.

Caleb opened the green book and held up the paper.

Dean looked at it. "We have seen this. Kate has been very focused on this particular symbol."

Jo swallowed again. "She said she thought it had something to do with the coordinates."

Dean winced. "Did she have anything to do with this little trip?"

"No! No. This was my idea." Jo said.

Dean got a call and spoke for a few seconds before hanging up. "We need to move out. We can talk on the way."

Jo found her feet stuck in one spot. "I'm guessing we are going home?"

Dean nodded and put his belt back through the loops. "Freshen up or whatever. We are leaving in 5 minutes."

Caleb waited until Jo was in the bathroom with the sink running. "Dean, dude. Were you about to whip her?"

Dean relaxed his shoulders. "She was attacking me and being irrational. I was bluffing."

Caleb got a chuckle from how flustered Dean was. "You looked convincing to me."

"Sometimes I ask my self WWJWD and that was the answer." Dean said.

Caleb tilted his head and mumbled. "What would John Winchester do?"

Dean nodded.

"He wouldn't have bluffed." Caleb said with a smirk.

Dean puffed out his cheeks and let the breath out slowly. "You still owe me a drink."

Caleb clapped him on the back. "Just say when."

Jo stepped out of the bathroom and grabbed her bag. She checked the room and gave Dean a look and flicked her eyes to Caleb.

Dean asked Caleb to take the bag to the car. He looked back at Jo.

"I'm sorry. I'm not in fight or flight mode and well I'm sorry."

Dean put a palm on her head as she walked by. "Lucky for you, Kate has had enough tantrums that I knew what I was looking at."

Jo shot him a glare but relaxed when she saw the smirk. "I'd like to call her and Taylor."

Dean nodded. "Go ahead and turn your phone on. You can use mine until yours stops getting messages."

Jo got in the backseat without a fight. She was starting to feel the fear and how close the demons had gotten.

"Dean?" Taylor asked as he answered his phone.

"Jo." Jo said.

Taylor gasped. "Jo! Are you okay? Did you get hurt? Where are you? Are you going home?"

Jo sighed. "I'm okay, Taylor. Thanks for helping find me."

Taylor smiled. "You didn't make it easy."

Jo grimaced. "I didn't want to be found but I'm no match for super powers."

Kate leaned toward the phone. "Just so you know, I highly disapprove of your behavior."

Jo chuckled. "You aren't the only one."

Kate smiled. "I'm glad you are okay."

Jo rubbed her face and groaned. "This may be the last time I'm alive to talk to you."

Kate rolled her eyes. "If your mom kills you she will revive you."

After she got off the phone with the kids, she had to call her mom. She listened to the lecture Ellen had prepared and tried to hide the tears dripping down her cheeks. "I'm sorry mom."

Ellen stopped to get her breath. She was livid but just wanted Jo back in her arms.

Jo tapped Dean on the shoulder. "Can we check those coordinates?"

Dean eyed her. "You'll stay in the car."

Jo sighed and went back to talking to Ellen. "All I can say is I am sorry."

Dean drove to the location. He didn't see any buildings or anywhere a building used to be. He and Caleb got out of the car and looked around.

"The only thing here is one of those electrical units that the city uses." Caleb said.

Dean tried the handle on the door. It was metal with bricks arching over it. Why would Taylor's great grandfather care about an electrical station. He turned away from the door and saw a worn rock at his feet. He brushed it off and stared at it. There it was, the symbol. He tried the door again. He hit it with his shoulder and tried to pick the lock. He returned to the car. "That door has a rock with the symbol on it but there is no way for me to get in there."

Jo perked up.

Ellen cleared her throat. "Dean Winchester, get my daughter home... now."

Dean sighed. "Yes ma'am."

They would return another day with more tools to open the door.

### ###

Aphrim had followed Dean. He saw the threat forming as he approached Jo and wanted to make sure that Dean was safe. He had been trying to push them toward the bunker for weeks but couldn't give 'loud' hints. He was on probation for interfering. The bunker was one of the few places that was warded for angels and demons alike. When Kate got her true abilities, Taylor's would meld with hers. The power release would be like a beacon and every demon and angel would be interested. If he could get them to the bunker, they would be safe while the transition happened.

"Aphrim, why are you here and not in Sioux Falls?" Naomi asked.

Aphrim turned toward her voice. "The others are safe. The oldest was in danger and I was studying his protectiveness of people outside of his family."

Naomi nodded and then vanished.

Aphrim went back to Bobby's house and watched them through the window. He had left out the fact that Dean had the demon knife. If Naomi knew the knife had been activated, she would know that they figured out how to activate it. No, he'd keep it to himself and try to save them. That was his job, even if Naomi said otherwise.
