I'm a little slower updating right now. Carpal tunnel is catching up to me and I have to give my wrist a rest.

Bobby messaged Kate back. If the substance was grace, keeping it in a jar was dangerous. The box in his study was supposed to hold the last vials of grace and had warding and a warning. He didn't get a response so he decided to drive over to Nate's house to collect the jar before anyone got hurt.
Anna got up to answer the door when she heard a knock. "Oh, hi Bobby."
Kate and Taylor both jumped up and walked, swiftly, to the door.
"Is everything okay?" Kate asked.
"Yes. You forgot your medicine at home." Bobby said.
Kate blinked. "Oh, right."
Anna invited Bobby in.
Bobby handed Kate a bottle of pills.
Kate read them as she walked to Ellie's room. He had thought far ahead on this plan. She knew what he wanted and put the jar under her shirt before walking back out. "I think I may have left my binder in your car."
Bobby said goodbye to Anna and followed Kate outside. "Tell me what is going on."
"We caught this." Kate said, pulling the jar from her shirt.
Bobby squinted his eyes. "What is it?"
"It glows white like the other stuff we opened that boosted us. It is just not as bright because I think it is less concentrated." Kate said.
"Well, whatever it is, it doesn't need to be here. I don't want that jar getting broken and for Nate's family to be harmed." Bobby said.
Kate handed the jar over. "Maybe label it so no one else opens it at home."
Bobby shook his head. "Okay. Head back inside."
Kate waved as he pulled away. She pushed a thought into Taylor's head to let him know everything was okay.
As soon as they were done eating they gathered in Nate's room to look at blood samples. Ellie was on board although she didn't know what they were doing. She thought blood was gross but Taylor told her about the cool things blood could do.
"What are we looking for?" Nate asked.
"I don't know. This is just a starting point." Taylor said.
Kate put a drop of her own blood on a slide and looked through the microscope. "Looks the same as last time." Thankfully, Nate and Ellie couldn't see the flecks so she didn't need to explain it to Ellie. She took a slide with Taylor's name on it and added her own sample. She put it under the microscope and quickly pulled her head back. "Taylor."
Taylor looked at it and did the same thing.
"I don't see anything." Nate said.
Kate eyed a petri dish. To replicate what she saw on a bigger scale was too tempting. She grabbed it and pushed a thought into Taylor's head.
'No, Ellie will see.' Taylor pushed back.
Kate pretended that her throat was scratchy and asked Ellie to get her some water. As soon as Ellie was gone she cut her hand and let it drip into the dish and grabbed Taylor's hand to do the same.
"Wait." Taylor tried to say but didn't react quick enough.
A burst of energy spread from the dish, upwards and busted the light over Nate's desk.
Nate covered his head as glass fell. "What the hell?"
Kate shoved the dish into her pocket as heavy footsteps ascended the stairs.
Nate's dad opened the door. "What was that?"
Nate gulped. "I didn't mean to."
"What did you do?" Mark asked with crossed arms.
Taylor went to speak but Nate shook his head. He picked up a ball. "I was just bouncing it off of my head and," he looked up at the broken light and let his eyes fall back to the ground.
Mark grabbed Nate's arm and pulled him out of the room.
Kate jumped up, stepping on glass. "Wait. It was an accident."
Mark looked at her and then to Nate. "Is that the first thing you've broken doing that?"
Nate grimaced. "No sir."
Kate looked at Mark and said. "It was an accident, have us clean it up and go back downstairs."
Mark let go of Nate. "Get a broom and dustpan and clean up your mess. Do not do it again."
Nate's mouth dropped open. "Uh, yes sir."
Ellie ran up the steps and saw Kate and the footprints around her.
Kate made a zipper motion over her mouth and waited for Mark to go downstairs before compelling Ellie to keep quiet about the glass and blood.
Anna asked Mark what happened and sighed. "Nate, you'll be without a light for a while."
Nate apologized and ran back to his room with the needed supplies.
"Nate, I'm so sorry." Kate whispered.
Taylor grabbed the trash can and started picking up larger shards of glass.
Kate sat down to pick pieces from her feet.
Nate swept at the mess. "I thought I was done for. How'd you do that?"
Kate flicked her eyes toward Ellie.
Nate nodded and continued working on the pile of glass.
Ellie crouched down to look at Kate's feet.
Kate drew her feet back. "I should wash these off and bandage them.
Ellie helped her to the bathroom. She found some gauze and handed it to Kate.
Kate turned her back to Ellie and rinsed the blood from her feet and wrapped them so that Ellie didn't see the wounds healing.
Taylor's nerves were frayed. "Look, dude. I'm really sorry."
Nate shrugged. "It is okay. I kind of got you in hot water, so it is only fair."
Taylor raised an eyebrow. "You got out of the hot water though."
Nate grinned. "Thanks."
Taylor put away the microscopes and slides. He didn't want to push his luck and run the risk of getting Nate into more trouble. He did want to know what happened with the blood though. It was as if his blood was explosive when mixed with Kate's.
Bobby labeled the jar and put it on his desk. He picked up the book he was using and searched for information about grace.
Millie jumped from the chair to his desk and knocked the jar over.
Bobby barely caught it before it hit the floor. "Damn cat, get out of here."
Millie sat on his desk and tilted her head.
Bobby put the jar on the highest shelf in his office and sat down. "Where's your brother?" He hadn't seen Liam that day and got up to look for him. He looked downstairs and called for him but got no response. He checked Kate and Taylor's room and didn't see him there either. He opened Dean's door and cracked a smile. Liam was curled up on Dean's pillow. He must have gotten shut in when everyone left.
Liam stretched and hopped off the bed and rubbed against Bobby's leg as he walked by. He found food in the other room and munched happily.
Bobby sat back down at his desk and eyed Millie. "If you had been the one locked in there, you'd have torn the room up."

Dean pulled up to a run down house and knocked on the door. A small, frail woman opened the door. "Hi, I'm Dean. My dad spoke to you on the phone."
The woman let him into the house. "Yes, he did. Come, sit."
Dean sat on the loveseat the woman pointed to. "What can I help you with?"
The old woman sat back in her chair. She clutched the beads around her neck. "My neighbor is a demon."
Dean furrowed his brows. "What makes you say that?"
"Son, I have known about demons longer than your daddy and you have been alive, combined." she said.
Dean blushed. "Sorry. I... I'm used to dealing with people who don't know."
"Mhm, I tested the man. That's how I know. He came sniffing around here and wouldn't set foot in the house. Of course, I have warding and these rosary beads." She said.
"Is it only him that lives there?" Dean asked.
The woman rocked her chair. "I don't have the best hearing or vision anymore."
Dean sighed. "I will check it out." He assured her that all would be okay and grabbed something from the car before he walked around the house next door. He knocked on the door and was greeted by a middle-aged man. He noted a dent on the man's head, likely from a bullet. The 'meat suit' was already gone.
"What do you want?" The man asked.
Dean stepped forward to force the man back into the house. "Christo."
The man flinched and his eyes turned black.
Dean wedged the knife in the man's chest and lowered him to the ground as he fell. The red light pulsed in his head before the body went limp. Dean wiped the knife off and put it back in its sheath. Man, he loved that knife. John had meant to take it but left it with Dean to protect the kids. Dean backed out of the house and closed the door with a napkin. No trace, no fingerprints. He waited fifteen minutes before going to inform the lady that the demon was gone. He didn't want her to know about the knife.
"Oh, honey. Thank you. What do you want me to tell the police?"
"Tell them you heard yelling and saw a gray car pull away. You knocked on the door and didn't get an answer." Dean said.
The woman patted his hand. "Take care of yourself."

Taylor dropped the last of the glass into the trashcan. "Message Bobby."
"Why?" Kate asked.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe because our blood mixing shot the freaking light off of Nate's ceiling. Maybe because you had to compel his family so that they didn't skin him and because we weren't supposed to use more than a drop of blood to begin with." Taylor whispered.
"I didn't know that was going to happen." Kate said.
"It doesn't matter. Tell him. Yeah, it was an accident but we both realize that something happened and I'd rather him know than Mark mentioning it later on."
Kate groaned. "Fine." She pulled out her phone and sent Bobby a text. 'Our blood is volatile. Broke a light. It is okay."
Bobby read the message and pinched the bridge of his nose. He called Kate's phone. "Katelyn, explain. Now."
Kate grimaced. "You know how our blood mixed and made the knife?"
"Yes."
"Well, we mixed it."
"She mixed it." Taylor said.
Kate shoved him. "It lit up and energy blew out of the dish and hit the light in Nate's room and broke it."
"Kate, let me be clear. Do not use any more abilities. Do not do any more experiments. Have a normal sleepover. Do Nate's parents know? Do they need us to replace the light?" Bobby said.
"His dad wasn't happy about it but I compelled him so Nate didn't get in trouble." Kate said.
Bobby poured a drink for himself. "No more."
Kate sighed. "Okay." She told Taylor what Bobby said and got off the phone.
Bobby rocked back in his chair and looked at the pattern on the ceiling. Things had gotten so far out of hand that he wasn't shocked about them being able to capture the substance or being. He was surrounded by lore and drowning in research but nothing gave him the answers he needed. Creatures stayed the same over centuries. Vampires didn't change. The possibility of a young wendigo was frightening but more than anything, the two supposed Nephilian he had in the house threw him for a loop. He stopped himself. He had two Nephilian. He was raising two beings that no one had ever seen alive. If the jar was full of diluted grace and Kate had gained so much power that she healed Dean's neck in one go, what would the grace in the box do?
### ###
Dean drove to his next destination and got a motel room for the night. He dropped his duffle beside the bed and sat down to eat the food he had bought. The room was so quiet that he could hear the light buzzing. A police car zoomed by and the whine of the siren pierced his ears for a moment before it faded away. He dropped the empty box into the small trashcan and undressed before stepping into the shower. He stood under the unimpressive stream until the warmth left the water. He sat down on the bed and flipped through the channels for something to watch. He eventually gave up on finding anything and turned his eyes to his phone. He started to message Kate but didn't want to intrude on her sleepover. He had already spoken to Sam so he put the phone down, turned out the light and fell back onto the bed. He had a room to himself and plenty of time so he could catch up on sleep. Maybe.

Kate woke up in the middle of the night but stayed in her sleeping bag on Ellie's floor. She thought back to the incident with searching Hellen's house and getting burned. She did not want to relive that. Instead, she let her mind wander. If Isaiah had given his grace to the babies, and it had been divided into vials, was the floating grace his? Why was it free? Why hadn't it hurt Nate if it was supposed to be dangerous for humans? Was it even grace? Why wasn't Aph answering her?
Taylor was thinking along the same lines. He wanted to know if the 'jellyfish' was meant for him or Kate or neither. Should he be trying to actively protect Kate from it? He opened his eyes when Nate rolled out of bed. He wasn't sure how many hours of sleep he had gotten but it wasn't enough. If he was an angelic being, why did he even get sleepy?
Ellie tapped Kate. "Are you awake?"
Kate rolled over and smiled. "I am now."
Ellie scooted over so she was laying beside Kate. "What do you want for breakfast?"
Kate shrugged. "Anything. I wonder if your mom would be okay with us making breakfast."
Ellie sat up. "Oh, that would be fun and would give her a break. She tiptoed to her parent's room and confirmed that they were still asleep.
Kate recruited Taylor and found some stuff they could make.
A half hour later, Anna and Mark walked into the kitchen, slightly confused. "What is this?"
Ellie grinned. "Breakfast!"
Kate put two cups on the table. "And coffee."
Anna gave each girl a hug. "This is so sweet."
Taylor pushed eggs onto a plate and put it in the middle of the table. He liked meals with Nate's family. They were so normal that it was comforting. Bobby's house was home to him. He liked living there and liked the chaos but sometimes, bland was good.
Anna insisted on doing the dishes since the kids cooked and sent them off to play.
Nate and Ellie wanted to hang out in the woods behind the house. They got the okay from their parents and convinced Kate and Taylor to go.
"Kate, we have a treehouse that you've never seen." Ellie said.
Kate pulled her hoodie over her head and slipped her hands through the sleeves. It was one of Sam's old ones and the sleeves covered her fingers.
"You look like a penguin." Taylor said.
"A warm penguin."
Ellie ran through the woods until she got to the treehouse. "It isn't much."
Taylor looked up through the branches. "We could add onto it."
Kate found a branch to sit on and swung her feet back and forth. "It is peaceful up here."
Ellie grinned. "You can spy on people." She pointed to an opening in the trees with a clear view of the surrounding houses.
Taylor and Nate planned out how they would expand the treehouse. "Bobby has a bunch of boards. I can," Taylor caught movement out of the side of his eye. "Kate, don't do that."
Kate was standing on a branch testing it out. "It holds me."
Ellie tried to copy Kate and walked out on a branch. She bounced a little and smiled.
Taylor heard the fibers of the branch start to give way and snatched Ellie from the air as she fell.
Ellie screamed and shut her eyes. She felt her body thud but it didn't hurt. She opened her eyes and found herself in Taylor's lap, on the ground.
Taylor could feel the shock traveling up his spine and laid back and groaned.
Kate jumped down, followed by Nate. "Are you okay?"
Ellie got up and dusted herself off. "I am. How did you do that?"
Taylor covered his face with his hands. "Adrenalin."
Nate sat down beside Taylor. "Are you hurt?"
Kate touched Taylor's leg.
"Don't. I told you not to do that. This is why." Taylor said. "Some of those branches are weak."
Kate pulled her hand away. She could tell he was in pain. She pushed into his head. 'Are you injured?'
Taylor squinted his eyes. 'My back hurts but I can't tell anyone.'
Kate placed her hand on Taylor again. "Can you go get your dad?"
Ellie ran away to get help.
Nate looked worried. "What is wrong?"
"My back." Taylor said.
"Is it healing?" Kate asked.
Taylor couldn't tell. "Help me up."
Kate took his arm and pulled.
Taylor hissed.
Kate pulled her sleeve up and put her hand on Taylor's skin. She closed her eyes and tried to fix the injury.
Taylor rolled his shoulders. His toes tingled.
Kate swallowed hard. "It isn't working." She begged Aprhim to show up and help them."Why aren't you healing?"
Taylor wondered if something was broken. He saw a wave of light. 'jellyfish?'
Kate looked behind them. She moved away from him and grabbed Nate.
Taylor felt the tendrils sting his skin and then felt a rush of energy. The pain went away and his toes regained feeling.
Kate heard Mark and Ellie running through the woods and shoved Taylor back to the ground. "Your eyes are glowing."
Taylor snapped his eyes closed.
Mark knelt beside Taylor. "Hey, buddy, can you open your eyes for me?"
Kate turned to Mark. "Ignore the glow."
Taylor opened his eyes and blinked. "I'm okay. I just got the wind knocked out of me."
Ellie was wide eyed and staring at Taylor's eyes.
"Ignore the eyes, Ellie."
Taylor sat up and stood with Mark's help. "I'll feel it tomorrow but I'm okay."
Mark helped him back to the house and got an icepack for him. "Rest."
Taylor reluctantly took the ice and put it on his lower back.
Anna entered the room and gasped.
Taylor looked at her.
"Your eyes!" Anna exclaimed.
The exclamation snapped Mark and Ellie from their compulsion and caused Mark to jump up. "What the?"
Taylor snapped his eyes closed.
Kate tried to make them forget about the eyes but there was too much going on.
Dean picked that moment to call and check in.
Kate answered the phone. "Not a good time."
"Kate, what is going on?" Dean demanded.
"They know." Kate said with a squeak.
Dean pulled the car over. "More than two words, spit it out."
"Why are your eyes glowing?" Anna asked in a worried voice.
Dean pressed his head against the steering wheel. "Katelyn Amelia you had better start talking."
Kate put the phone to her chest. "Everyone calm down! I'll explain." She put the phone back to her ear. "There was an incident and Taylor's eyes are glowing."
Dean clenched his jaw. "What kind of incident?"
Kate bit her lip and spoke to Dean, as well as Nate's parents. "Taylor fell out of the tree and hurt his back. Something floated from the sky and healed him and now his eyes are blue."
Anna's mouth dropped open.
Dean leaned back and rubbed his face. "Can you... fix this?"
"I tried." Kate said.
Dean took a deep breath. "Call Bobby. Do damage control and we will talk when everything is over."
Kate swallowed. "Okay." She hung up the phone and looked sheepishly at Anna and Mark.
Taylor was covering his eyes to hide the glow that insisted on staying.
Kate stepped outside to call Bobby and to summon another helping of grace. She needed to erase some memories and couldn't do it alone. "Bobby, I can explain later but I think you should pick us up."
Bobby grabbed his keys and ran out the door. "Is everything okay?"
"Everyone is alive." Kate said. She silently cried out for Aphrim. He didn't come but she saw the swirls she was looking for. "I'll let you go. Knock when you get here."
Bobby tried to argue and was more than a little upset that she hung up.
Kate let the swirls flow into her hand and noticed it didn't sting as much as last time. When she walked back into the house, Anna and Mark drew back. "Everyone sit."
Nate sat without thinking and was surprised that his parents did too.
"Taylor hurt his back and Bobby came to pick us up. We had a lovely day and will want to come over again. Nothing weird happened. You never saw our eyes." Kate said.
Anna got up and brought Taylor some advil and a glass of water. "That was a hard fall. You just let me know if it is anything more than getting the wind knocked out of you."
Taylor took the medicine and downed the water. "Thank you."
Bobby showed up and knocked on the door. He had no idea what to expect.
Mark opened the door and let him inside. "Taylor was climbing and slipped. He is going to be sore but I don't think anything is broken."
Bobby tried to hide the surprise when he made eye contact with each of the kids. "Thanks for calling. I'm sure he will be just fine."
Kate hugged Ellie and packed their stuff into their bags before returning to the living room.
Taylor squinted his eyes against the sun and walked to Bobby's car.
Bobby shut his door and turned the car on. He pulled away from the house and didn't speak until he parked in front of his house. He stared out the front window for a moment before slowly turning to look at the kids in the backseat. His phone rang and he answered it without moving his eyes. "Yep, we are home. Their family won't remember anything."
Dean had two werewolves to get rid of before he could head back home. "So, what happened?"
Bobby turned and opened his car door. "You two, inside."
Kate scrambled out of the car and carried their bags into the house. "Bobby, it isn't as bad as it sounds."
Bobby looked at her. "Why are both of your eyes glowing?"
Kate looked at Taylor for assistance. "So, we can summon the jellyfish."
Bobby sighed and took a beer from the fridge. He popped the top and returned to the living room. He pointed to the couch. "Sit." He sat back in his own chair and propped his feet on the coffee table, crossing one over the other. "Talk."
"Ellie fell out of the tree and Taylor caught her. When he hit the ground he really hurt his back and wasn't healing. I couldn't heal him. I prayed to Aphrim and he didn't come but the jellyfish grace stuff showed up and healed him. Then his eyes started glowing and I compelled Mark and Ellie but when we got back to the house Anna saw his eyes and everything got out of hand." Kate blurted out.
Dean spoke up. "I have to finish this hunt but I am just jumping at the bit to know what you just left out."
Taylor cleared his throat. "We made some less than stellar choices and I own up to that but overall I think this Nephilian stuff is getting worse and most of what happened is due to that."
Bobby snorted. "At least you are honest."
Kate nodded. "I can explain in detail but I am realizing that I don't have as much control as I thought."
Dean shook his head. "Bobby, good luck."
### ###
Later that afternoon, Dean found the two wolves in question. He confirmed their identities and lured them away from other people. He pulled out his gun with the silver bullets and shot both of them. He made sure they were gone before leaving the scene and going back to the motel. His head was starting to hurt from worry and confusion. Things were starting to happen too fast and he feared the day that final box was opened.
### ###
Kate explained everything to Bobby and took the blame for Ellie's fall.
Bobby listened to each kid and tried to wrap his head around the ordeal. They were right, things would have been much different without the abilities and mysterious grace. A small mistake was magnified by what they were. "We can table this so I can think about it."
Kate was glad that Bobby didn't jump straight to anger. She helped Taylor with the shelf and tried to keep herself busy.
Bobby looked up, several hours later as Taylor awkwardly slid the shelf through the door. "Hold on. Don't hit the wall." He helped Taylor get the shelf through the door and into the office. "This is sturdy."
Taylor smiled. "It was fun to make."
Bobby felt of the wood. "Did you use the sander?"
Taylor shook his head. "Hand sanded. Still high on grace."
Bobby looked at his eyes. "Well, at least it is constructive."
Taylor lowered his side of the shelf once Bobby found a place for it.
Bobby thanked both of them. "I'll move some stuff around. You two need to wash off and head to bed."
Both kids told Bobby goodnight. They were both exhausted.
Millie and Liam an after their humans and waited for bedtime snuggles.
Kate fell onto her bed and put Millie on her chest. "You don't think the eyes are weird, do you?"
Millie curled up under her chin and purred.
Taylor walked into the room a few minutes later and chuckled. Kate was already fast asleep. He shut the light off and put Liam on his pillow.
### ###
Dean got an update from Bobby and hopped into the shower. He ran the hot water out again and wrapped a towel around his waist. He used a second towel to rub some of the water from his hair. He dropped the hair towel onto a chair and froze. He snatched his gun from the counter and pointed it into the dark corner of the room, on the other side of the bed.
A dark figure turned his head and eyed Dean. "That won't work on me."
"What the hell? How did you get in here? Who are you?" Dean demanded, flicking the safety off of his gun.
The figure stood, slowly. He flicked the gun from Dean's hand and snapped his fingers to turn on the light.
Dean felt a chill run up his spine and was hyper aware of the fact that he was wearing a towel.
The man tilted his head and studied Dean.
Dean backed away. The dude was creepy and had made it by all of the warding and salt lines. "What are you?"
The man didn't speak at first.
Dean grabbed a knife and hurled it at the man.
The man looked at his shoulder where the knife pierced his skin and pulled it out. He wiped it on his shirt and placed it on the table. He flexed his shoulders and stared straight at Dean.
Dean nearly fell back. The man had a pair of wings. They weren't like the movies. The wings were translucent. "What the?" He noticed a familiar glow in the man's eyes.
"I'm an angel of the lord." The man stated as he drew his wings back in and removed the light from his eyes.
"Aphrim?" Dean asked. His voice betrayed him and cracked.
The man tilted his head the opposite direction. "No."
"Then who the hell are you?" Dean demanded.
The man looked into the distance like he was listening for something. He looked at Dean. "I will return."
Dean let out a breath of air and nearly hit the floor as the man disappeared. He blinked rapidly and quickly pulled on some clothes. He had no idea what had happened. His brain hadn't quite caught up to the fact that an angel had spoke to him. The only thing he knew for sure was he was not going to be naked if the guy showed back up.
