Author's note: Thank you for sticking with me. You are all awesome. Just a reminder that some chapters will jump around quite a bit and you should be confused. Some things may be repeated. We will get to the bottom of it though.

Taylor looked to Kate for answers. "He asked me who Nate and Ellie were. You know, right?"
Kate nodded. "Our friends. What is going on?"
Dean corralled them inside. "Go take a seat at the table."
Kate felt dizzy from how quickly her heart was beating. If it wasn't for Taylor, she'd be sure she was having a mental break.
Dean sat down at the table. "Okay, explain."
Taylor put a hand on Kate's leg to offer her some comfort. "Something happened and you and Bobby don't remember things you should."
Dean sat back. "About this, Lacy, person?"
"She isn't just a person. She makes you happy. She is your girlfriend." Kate said.
"I think I would remember having a girlfriend." Dean said.
"You met at the diner because I got her to give you her number. Demons went to her house one night and you were gone. Sam, Bobby, and I saved her but I absorbed two demons. Do you seriously not remember any of this?" Kate said in a high-pitched tone.
Dean shook his head. "Are you feeling okay?"
Kate slammed the side of her fist down on the table. "Yes! I'm not the one who is having issues right now!"
Taylor put his arm in front of Kate to encourage her to remain seated. "I remember her too. Kate isn't forgetting things. This is terrifying for us."
Dean relaxed his jaw. "You said something about friends."
"Yes, Nate and Ellie. I have been friends with Nate for years." Taylor said.
Dean shrugged. "Beats me. This could be a vision."
Kate buried her face in her hands and let tears escape her eyes.
"Hey, take some deep breaths. I'm going to call Bobby back and ask him to check on them. He said Lacy worked at the diner so he knows her, just not like we do." Taylor said.
Kate nodded.
Taylor called Bobby back. "Hey, I know it doesn't make sense right now but something is going on. I need you to check on three people."
Bobby sighed. "I will do what I can."
"Can you make sure Lacy works at the diner? You can't just go up to the school and ask about Nate and Ellie but you could drive by their house. Nate is about my size and has black hair. Ellie's hair is lighter and straight." Taylor said.
Bobby grabbed his keys. "I'll call you back."
Kate felt like her world was falling apart and she wasn't sure what was real.
Dean walked around the table and sat down beside Kate. He tapped her and held his arms open.
Kate let Dean move her to his lap. "What's going on?"
"I don't know. Right now we are okay." Dean said. He remembered April. "I'm going to see if I can find someone that can check on Andy and April. If I can't, I may have to go."
Kate listened to the sound of his heart beating and made herself calm down.
Taylor sorted through information to try to find a connection. They didn't know why memories had been erased. Maybe it was just on their side. Maybe Nate and Ellie remembered them. He sent Nate's number a message and placed his phone on the table.
Bobby stopped by the diner and Lacy was working. He made small talk with her and found that she and Dean weren't overly familiar. He decided to stop by the school to make sure that they didn't need more paperwork proving that Kate and Taylor were still alive and doing assignments from home.
Taylor's phone buzzed. He paled at the response.
'Who is this?'
He sat his phone back down and took a shaky breath. "They don't remember us. "
Kate felt like the room was spinning. "That doesn't make sense."
Bobby walked into the office and smiled at Mrs. Ray. "I am here to pick up assignments."
Mrs. Ray wheeled her chair over to the reception desk. "Who is your child?"
Bobby gave her an odd look. "Kate and Taylor."
Mrs. Ray looked through a few files. "I don't have anything up here for a Kate or Taylor."
Bobby started to leave but turned around. "I need to make sure all of their stuff is up to date."
Mrs. Ray smiled. "Absolutely, last name please."
That confirmed Bobby's suspicion that the receptionist had no idea who he was or who the kids were. "Winchester and Harvelle."
Mrs. Ray typed the names into the computer. "You'll need to register them. Are you new here?"
Bobby smiled awkwardly. "I will just take a registration packet from you and fill that out at home." He called Taylor when he left. "Put me on speaker."
Taylor put the phone on speaker and placed it on the table.
"Dean, where did the kids go to school?" Bobby asked.
Dean furrowed his brows. "Sioux Falls."
"Right, the receptionist didn't have a clue who I was talking about. There is no Kate Winchester or Taylor Harvelle in their system." Boby said.
Kate started crying again. Her head hurt.
"Nate doesn't remember me." Taylor said.
Bobby sighed. "I guess that proves that something is going on."
Kate scoffed. "Yeah, couldn't just take our word for it."
Dean poked her leg. "Everyone is confused."
Taylor looked at Kate. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
Kate let go of Dean and followed Taylor. "What is it?"
"I was thinking, why would someone erase memories of such specific things. I was having visions or dreams of David hurting Nate and Ellie. In the dreams, he was using them to force me to do something. What is a good way to make sure that they couldn't be used as collateral?" Taylor said.
Kate was quiet for a minute. "He can't use them if you aren't friends with them."
"Right. Same with Lacy. If they don't remember each other, she can't be used as bait." Taylor said.
"So why do we remember things?"
"Either whoever is erasing memories isn't doing it in a way that affects us or they want us to know." Taylor said.
"So, we are assuming that this has been done by someone trying to protect us. We need to talk to Cas." Kate said. She squeaked and jumped. "Cas!"
Castiel looked at the children. "What happened here?"
"Memories have been erased." Taylor said.
Castiel furrowed his brows.
"Dean doesn't remember Lacy, the school doesn't remember us." Kate said.
Castiel had a theory but it was crucial that the kids stop digging for a little while. He touched each of their heads and vanished.
Dean gathered some of his gear.
"Where are you going?" Kate asked.
"April said that Andy has been seeing things. I am going to check it out." Dean said.
Kate rubbed her head. "When did she say that?"
"Earlier. I called around but it is easier if I just go." Dean said. "I can trust you two to be good right?"
Kate scoffed. "Yes."
Dean made sure both of the kids were set and left the bunker. He turned the music up and cruised.
Kate looked at her phone. "I wonder if John found anything."
Taylor furrowed his brows. "Oh, Jo... right." His head ached and he was a little disoriented.
Kate called John. "Hey, we were wondering if Jo's lead was a dead end or helpful."
John held the phone to his ear with his shoulder. "I am on to something. I just don't know what yet."
"Dean is going to check on April." Kate said.
John loaded the gun he was holding. "What are you two going to do?"
"Sneak out." Kate said.
John cracked a smile.
"No, I'm probably going to do some artsy stuff. Taylor will probably find some dust bunnies to sort." Kate said.
"I'm going to work on my Latin." Taylor said.
Kate rolled her eyes. "Basically a house party."
"Just call if anything happens." John said.
Kate put the phone down and sighed. She grabbed her drawing stuff and brought it to the library.
Taylor sat down at the other end of the table with a few books on Latin. "Dean shouldn't be gone that long. If you want to spar, let me know."
Kate shrugged. "I'm okay right now."
Dean reached April's house an hour or two later.
April met him outside. "You didn't have to come all this way."
Dean smiled. "It is okay. I didn't have anything else going on." He waved to Andy. "What seems to be the issue?"
"I think the ghost is back." Andy said.
April stepped inside to give Andy a chance to talk to Dean.
"Why do you think that?" Dean asked.
"Weird stuff keeps going on." Andy said.
Dean studied the boy. "Just weird stuff?"
Andy nodded. "The lights turn on and off."
Dean asked him the standard questions to which he got adamant answers to. He pinched the bridge of his nose. "What about random strawberry smells?"
"Yes, those too." Andy said.
Dean sighed. "Man to man, I need you to tell me the absolute truth."
"I am." Andy said.
Dean smirked. "Well, I know you lied about the strawberries because I made that up."
Andy slumped.
"So, why lie about ghosts?" Dean asked.
Andy's lower lip quivered slightly.
"It is scary for your mom. I am already here so you might as well spill." Dean said gently.
"Mom will get mad at me." Andy said.
"She may but you have to man up." Dean said.
"You are really nice and helped us." Andy said.
Dean nodded. "I did but the ghost is gone."
Andy fidgeted. "Can you keep a secret?"
Dean furrowed his brows. "It depends on what it is. I can help you reword it so your mom doesn't get as upset."
"Man to man?"
Dean chuckled. "Yes."
"My dad didn't run off. Mom says he did but he didn't. I saw him a few times." Andy said.
Dean nodded slowly. "Go on."
"She says we moved here so she could get a job. I know she is hiding us." Andy said.
Dean felt a tug at his heart. "Why would she do that?"
"He was mean to her. She lies about that but he hurt her. I'm not stupid."
Dean sighed. "So you guys came here to get away from him."
"Yeah, but I keep seeing him." Andy said.
"If you knew he was mean and you saw him, why didn't you call the police?" Dean asked.
"That would scare my mom. Then, she wouldn't tell the truth about him hurting her."
"What was your plan?" Dean asked.
Andy dug his toes into the dirt. "If he sees you here he will get scared and go away."
Dean rubbed his face. "That isn't much of a plan. I don't think I'm that scary."
"You fight monsters." Andy said.
"I don't have that on a neon sign." Dean countered.
"I have a plan B." Andy said, proudly.
Dean could already tell it was a bad plan. "What is that?"
"If I see him again I can get rid of him." Andy said.
Dean paused. "How?"
"I can shoot him." Andy said with absolute seriousness.
Dean blinked. "What?"
"I don't really want to kill someone but I can protect my mom. Then you could do what you did with the ghost so he doesn't haunt us." Andy said.
Dean closed his eyes. "Andy, what are you planning to shoot him with?"
"A gun." Andy said like it was the obvious answer.
"What gun?"
"Mine." Andy said.
Dean bit the inside of his cheek. "Where did you get a gun?"
"A friend gave it to me." Andy said.
Dean was hoping that it was a toy gun and Andy just didn't realize that. "Do you mind showing it to me?"
"I can't."
"I need to see it." Dean said a bit more firmly.
"You are going to tell my mom." Andy said.
"Right now you have bigger issues than your mom getting mad at you." Dean said.
Andy frowned.
April smiled as they walked inside. She saw Dean's face and stopped smiling.
Dean gave her a subtle shake of his head. "Andy was going to show me something, is it alright if I follow him?"
April nodded. "Yes, the baby is sleeping so just walk softly."
Dean followed Andy to his room.
Andy reached behind his bed and pulled a towel from a crevice. He unwrapped it and went to grab the gun but Dean moved fast.
Dean snatched the gun from Andy's hand and unloaded it. "Where the hell did you get this?"
Andy got defensive. "Someone gave it to me."
"I need to know who gave this to you." Dean said.
Andy crossed his arms. "Why?"
Dean picked him up and carried him back to the living room under his arm.
April's mouth dropped open. "What happened?"
Dean put the gun on the coffee table and sprinkled the bullets ontop of it.
April gasped.
Andy turned red.
"Who gave you the gun?" Dean asked again.
April stared at the gun. "Where was that?"
"Behind his bed." Dean said.
Andy got angry. "You said you wouldn't tell."
"That is not at all what I said. This is a real gun." Dean said.
"Well, duh." Andy said.
April couldn't take her eyes off the weapon. "Andy, why do you have that?"
Andy stammered. "For protection."
Dean had to remind himself that Andy didn't know the gun rules. He likely didn't realize just how dangerous a loaded gun was. "The safety is off. It was loaded and wrapped in a towel behind your bed. Anything could have made that go off. Did the person that gave it to you show you how to use it?"
Andy blushed. "Yes. I know what I'm doing."
Dean stared at Andy for a moment. "Explain to your mom why you have the gun."
Andy shook his head.
"She needs to know." Dean said. "His heart is in the right place."
April sat down beside Andy. "Please explain."
"I keep seeing dad." Andy said.
April suppressed a look of shock. "You know he parted ways."
Andy scoffed. "No he didn't. We moved here so he couldn't hurt you anymore."
April gasped. "No."
Andy jumped up. "I'm not stupid. I heard things and saw you crying. So, if he comes here I can protect you."
"That sums it up." Dean said.
April shook her head. "No, he doesn't know we live here. Is he a ghost?"
Dean rubbed his face. "Andy said there was a ghost so I would come here. He thinks he'd be scared of me."
April blushed deeply. "I am so so sorry."
"Oh no, I am happy I drove over here." He looked at Andy. "You could have jumped on your bed and made that gun go off. You could have dropped it and really hurt someone."
"I was being really careful. I know how to aim it. I wouldn't even need to shoot him. I could just scare him." Andy said.
April sucked in a breath of air as she realized Andy's train of thought ended in him shooting someone.
"Where did you get the gun?" Dean asked. He paused. "How did they show you how to use it?"
Andy looked between Dean and his mom. "We practiced."
April was horrified that he had been handling a gun at all. "Who?"
Andy clamped his mouth shut.
Dean closed his eyes to calm himself down. He had been taught gun safety from age four and the horror stories of accidents flashed through his head. He looked at April and tilted his head toward her kitchen.
April stepped into the kitchen with him. "I am so sorry."
Dean gently shook his head. "Not your fault."
"I am horrified."
Dean chewed his cheek. "Do you think he actually saw his dad?"
April's eyes watered. "Maybe."
"Is he dangerous?" Dean asked.
April hung her head. "He just gets angry."
Dean heard a faint noise. "I'll leave it up to you, of course, but you may want to pack an overnight bag."
April wrung her hands. "I don't know."
Dean smirked. "I'm going to follow him to whoever gave him the gun."
April gasped and looked in the living room. "He left?"
"So much like Sam." Dean said. "I'll be back."
April was mortified and worried. If Steven had found them, they were in danger. She just couldn't comprehend why her six-year-old felt like he needed a gun to protect them. She was supposed to protect them.
Dean noticed the gun was gone but the bullets were still there. He stepped out of the house and tracked Andy to a house across the street. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.
A man opened the door. "Hello, how can I help you?"
"I am looking for Andy." He said.
"I haven't seen him." the man said.
Dean sighed. "There is a bit of a problem and I'm trying to get to the bottom of it."
The man looked at Dean's face and opened the door a bit wider. "What is it?"
"Andy borrowed something from someone and I am trying to figure out who he got it from." Dean said. If it was the wrong house, he didn't want to spread April's business to the whole neighborhood.
The man nodded. "What was it?"
The very brief glimpse of terror-stricken face that appeared before the sound of shuffling feet told him that it was probably the right house. He pulled the bullets from his pocket. "You wouldn't happen to own a 45, would you?"
The man was startled. "I do but I keep all of my guns in a safe."
Dean nodded. "Would you mind just checking the safe?"
The man turned slowly. "Of course, I'll be right back."
Dean stepped back into the yard, at the corner of the porch. He heard a boy's name being called in an eery tone. He reached out and grabbed Andy as he ran by.
Andy shrieked.
Dean pulled him back to the porch. He held onto his arm and waited.
The man opened the door, red-faced. "Cody, where is the 45?"
A boy around Andy's size inched around the corner. "I don't know."
The dad snapped his fingers.
"I don't have it." Cody tried.
"Go to your room."
Cody vanished and sprinted from his room.
Andy tugged on Dean's arm and whispered. "I gave it back, it's okay."
Dean gave Andy a look. He saw the other boy that he had seen dart behind his dad. "I bet it is back in the safe."
The man turned his head. "I just looked."
"Your older one just made a break for it." Dean said.
The man whirled around. "Ezra!"
An older boy appeared moments later. "Yes?"
"Did you open the safe?"
Ezra just stared ahead.
The man turned to Dean. "I'd like to apologize. I will figure out what the hell these two were thinking and will be stopping by to speak with April later."
Dean thanked him. He grimaced when the door shut. He didn't envy those kids.
Andy looked up at Dean. "I gave it back."
Dean kept a grip on his arm but loosened it. "Did you target practice with ammo?"
Andy nodded. "Yes. So I could be safe."
Dean walked him back to his house.
April embraced Andy when they returned. "Who?"
Dean motioned across the street. "Cody and Ezra, was it?"
Andy nodded.
April covered her mouth. "You should go to your room."
Andy sighed. "It is okay now. I-" The look on Dean's face spooked him.
"I can't believe he did that." April said.
"Did you decide on packing a bag? I can look around and figure out if his dad has been around." Dean said.
April sat down on the couch. "We don't have anywhere to go."
Dean rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm going to make a call."
Missouri picked up on the first ring. "Dean Winchester, you don't call enough."
Dean sighed. "I know. I have a problem of sorts."
Missouri clicked her tongue. "You just bring them over here."
Dean furrowed his brows. "What?"
Missouri scoffed. "I know things, Dean. Bring them and then you can explain."
Dean sighed. "Yes, ma'am." He was thankful that Missouri was so accommodating. "Would you be able to read a boy?"
Missouri chuckled. "Do you even know me?"
Deam smiled. "I'll call you back in a little bit." He hung up the phone. "A friend of my family would love some company."
April was apprehensive. "I don't want to impose."
Dean rolled his eyes. "She loves kids and you might distract her long enough to get her off my back for not calling enough."
April was shaken by the thought that her ex knew where they were. Just the thought was scary. "Thank you so much. I'll get some stuff."
Dean leaned against the doorway. "April?"
April turned. "Yes?"
"I don't want to overstep here. Andy just reminds me so much of my brother. Would you mind if I talked to him?" Dean said.
April relaxed. "Please. I don't even know where to begin."
Dean sighed. "Kids." He knocked on Andy's door.
Andy opened it. "Oh, hi."
Dean sat down on his bed. "You guys are going to spend the night at a friend's house. She is really nice. She will make you eat your vegetables though."
Andy cracked a smile but schooled himself and forced the pensive frown back on his face.
Dean searched for words. "Do you know why we got upset about the gun?"
"You don't think I can aim." Andy said.
Dean rubbed his face. "I was your age when I started learning how to shoot." He held up his hand. "However, my dad drilled a few rules into my head. Guns are dangerous."
Andy nodded. "I was careful."
"You really weren't. The safety was off and the gun was loaded." Dean said.
"Yeah, so I could use it." Andy said.
Dean shook his head. "Even for me, when I was your age, I was never allowed to handle a gun without an adult. The safety had to stay on until I had to use it. All guns were unloaded until we needed to use them. You never point a gun at anyone or anything unless you plan to kill them. Which, you shouldn't do. Ezra is probably in a world of trouble for taking you to shoot targets. Had you tripped, you could have shot someone or yourself. Bullets can bounce off stuff too."
"I had to protect my mom."
Dean nodded. "You should have told her about your dad."
"I didn't want to scare her."
"Well, buddy. I promise you that she was more scared finding out that you had been around a loaded gun." Dean said.
Andy frowned.
"Another option would have been to call one of us and tell us instead of creating a ghost story." Dean said.
"I messed up." Andy said.
Dean sighed. "You did but I understand why. My mom died when I was four. I would have done anything to protect her if I could. I didn't have anyone to call for help. You do. You have my number and my sister and brother's numbers. Even if you just have a scary dream you can call one of them. Kate, my sister, talks all day every day. If you call and talk to her, it gives my ears a break."
Andy smiled. "Okay." He looked into Dean's eyes and took a deep breath. "Are you going to hit me?"
Dean flinched. "Excuse me?"
Andy blushed. "When my dad was mad at my mom for something, he would slap her face."
Dean's heart broke. "No, god, no."
Andy let out a big breath. His eyes drifted. "Is my mom going to?"
Dean rubbed his face. He had entered the territory that made him uncomfortable. "I don't think she'd ever slap your face. She's far too nice to do that."
Andy nodded. "You are probably right."
"You can help your mom by packing a few sets of clothes and stuff." Dean said in an effort to steer Andy away from that conversation. Had any of their family touched a gun at six years old, there would be slapping involved but not of one's face. They were raised with rules though. He was grateful that Kate and Taylor were older and seemingly less problematic. He paused, they were still problematic. Who was he kidding? He called Kate's phone.
"Hey, Dean." Kate said.
"Hey, so change of plans. I'm going to take them to Missouri's." Dean said.
Kate put him on speaker. "Why?"
"I can explain later. I just wanted you to know that I will be gone longer." Dean said.
Kate shrugged. "Just let me know when you plan to head back so I can tell everyone to go home."
Dean chuckled. "No keggers unless you save me some."
Kate grinned. "I'll make a note of that."
"I will call back in a little while. Do you need anything? Taylor?"
"No." They both said.
Dean put his phone in his pocket and checked on April's progress. "Is there anything I can do?"
She was frazzled. "No, I've got it." She turned and ran into Dean's chest.
Dean met eyes with her before stepping back. "Andy is packing a bag."
April flushed. "How did the talk go?"
"I just told him that I grew up with gun rules because guns are dangerous and reminded him that he can call one of those numbers if something happens." Dean said.
April threw diapers into a bag. "Maybe he will listen to you."
Dean sighed. "He asked if I was going to hit him."
April snapped up to look at Dean.
"He said his dad would get mad at you and slap your face. He wanted to know if I was going to do that and when I said no he wanted to know if you would." Dean said.
April let a tear fall. "No, how does he even know that?"
"Kids are sneaky." Dean said.
Missouri stepped outside before Dean even made it to the driveway she smiled brightly and waved.
Dean looked at April. "I forgot to mention that she is a psychic."
April's eyes flew open. "What?"
Dean blushed. "She runs a business from her house. She is an awesome person."
April held her breath.
"Yeah, I should have led with that but I'm so used to her that I blanked." Dean said.
April nodded slowly. "As long as you trust her."
Andy bailed out of the car and ran straight to Missouri. "Dean says you are psychic."
Missouri laughed. "I am, you must be Andy."
April grabbed Andy. "You didn't even wait for the car to stop."
Andy pulled his arm away. "I was excited."
Missouri gave her a warm smile. "I'm Missouri Mosely."
"I'm April."
Missouri could feel the pain radiating from the woman. "Who is this young man?"
April looked at her younger son. "Ian."
"Well aren't you just the cutest thing?" Missouri cooed.
Ian clapped his hands and reached for her.
April was astonished. "He never goes to anyone."
Dean nudged her. "He knows she baked cookies."
Missouri scooped the baby into her arms. "I did bake cookies."
"I also know things." Dean said, smugly.
"Let us go inside out of the cold," Missouri said and helped the family into the house. "I have a spare room you can use. The linens are fresh."
April followed her and looked around. "Your home is beautiful."
"Thank you, dear." Missouri said.
Andy was looking around downstairs.
Dean cleared his throat. "You keep your hands off of Missouri's stuff. Some of it is dangerous."
Andy nodded quickly.
"She reads minds so you can't hide anything from her." Dean said, softly.
Andy's eyes grew wide. "Can she?"
Missouri appeared. "Yes I can."
Andy's mouth dropped open.
"Stop scaring the boy." Missouri said to Dean. She pulled him to the side. "What am I supposed to read from him?"
Dean whispered. "He saw his dad. I need to be sure if he really saw his dad or not."
Missouri nodded and held out her hand. "I baked some chocolate chip cookies."
Andy gladly took her hand and followed her.
April was still frazzled. She felt undeserving. It was her choice to run so she got them into the haunted house and now she didn't deserve Dean or Missouri's hospitality.
Dean gently tapped on the open door.
April wiped her face. "Hi."
"Do you need anything?" Dean asked.
"No. You have done so much. I really appreciate this." April said.
"Missouri is giving Andy cookies. I hope that is okay." Dean said.
April smiled. "Yes. That is fine." her stomach growled.
"I will go grab us some real food." Dean said.
April shook her head. "No, I'm okay."
"I'm not. I'm hungry." Dean said. "I might as well pick up food for everyone."
April nodded. "Thank you."
Dean walked back to the kitchen and tried to grab a cookie from the plate.
Missouri swatted his hand. "Don't eat from the serving plate."
Andy giggled.
Dean raised an eyebrow at Andy as if to say 'see what I mean?'
Missouri looked at Andy. "Dean doesn't have any manners."
Dean shrugged. "I was going to grab some food unless you had plans."
Missouri walked with him to the front room. "No, I need a few things from the store. I'm glad you brought them here."
Dean sighed. "Did you read him?"
Missouri nodded and patted Dean's arm. "He wasn't fibbing about seeing a man."
Dean grimaced.
"So, go get some dinner and I'll send you with a list. Why don't you go ask Miss April what they like for breakfast?"
"I think she is embarrassed or something. She won't tell me anything they need." Dean said.
Missouri squeezed his arm. "I'll find out and send you a message."
Dean thanked her. "You are an angel."
Missouri clicked her tongue. "I know, shoo, go get some food."
Dean felt a familiar flutter in his stomach. He couldn't quite place it but he had felt it before.
Kate put her pencil down and flexed her hand.
Taylor looked up. "Have you run out of graphite yet?"
Kate shook her head. "I have a few dozen pencils in that case."
Taylor patted the table. "Can I look at this masterpiece?"
Kate slid the book to him. "It is more than one page."
Taylor turned the notebook around and flipped through the pages. He stopped on a specific page. It looked familiar in some way. "Who is this?"
Kate shrugged. "I don't know."
Taylor ran his fingers over the woman's face. He flipped through a few more pages and slid the book back. He held the heel of his hand to his eye and sighed.
"Headache again?" Kate asked.
Taylor nodded. "It comes and goes."
Kate dropped her notebook on her desk on her way to the kitchen. She grabbed a glass of water and a few pills. She heard a faint noise and assumed it was Millie or Liam. "Here you go."
Taylor thanked her for the medicine and sipped the water. "Spar?"
Kate shrugged. "Sure."
A shadowy figure stood at the edge of Kate's desk and held a torn page in their hands. They met eyes with Millie and turned to scratch her ears. "Shh, it's a secret."
