John opened Taylor's door and told him to start transferring stuff from the car to the truck. He had enough sympathy for him that he wouldn't make him stick around and overhear Kate's ordeal.

Dean opened Kate's door and sat down on her bed.

Kate looked at him with wide eyes. She frowned and sniffled. "I'm really sorry that baby got hurt."

Dean sighed. "I'm irritated about the car. It is just a car though. We can replace a window. If Taylor didn't have his own set of abilities, do you think he would have withstood that blast the way he did?"

Kate chewed her fingers. "No."

"How long have you been able to do that?" Dean asked.

"I didn't know I could do it. I was just angry." Kate said.

Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "I see that you are back on your normal trend of lashing out when you are angry."

Kate hugged her pillow to her chest. She wasn't angry anymore.

Dean considered what he was going to do. He had spoken to John and needed the punishment to fit the crime but also be even with what Taylor got. "Kate, I spanked you before we left. That was for your attitude."

Kate nodded slowly.

"Dad used his belt on Taylor."

Kate's eyes flew open. "Please don't. You already switched me. Dean, please."

Dean held up his hand. "How long did you feel uncomfortable from the first one?"

Kate bit her lip. "Not too long."

"It was a warning. It wasn't meant to make you miserable. I thought that would cure you but boy was I wrong." Dean said.

Kate gave him her best puppy dog eyes.

Dean sighed. "I'm not going to use my belt this time. I am going to use my hand."

Kate frowned. "But... but you already used a switch."

"I did, over your jeans. I didn't hit you hard enough to leave welts. I have no doubt that it stung but it will fade. You and Taylor can both have something to keep your mind off arguing on that five hour drive we have coming up." He pulled Kate's arm so she would stand up. He pulled her jeans down and spun her around. There was one line that was darker than the rest. It wasn't even raised. He had gotten the switch from John a few times and John had a harder swing. He thought it stung enough without the force behind it. He pulled Kate over his lap. "Why am I spanking you for the third time in two days?"

Kate wiggled. "Uh, attitude and arguing?"

Dean swatted her. "Exactly." He covered all of the important ground and paused so his hand could get a break. "You and Taylor are both powerful. You are still kids though. When Sam and I fought, trust me, we got our asses kicked. It is going to be different for the two of you if you use your abilities on each other." He concentrated on her sit spots.

Kate knew she earned every swat but it was still hard to accept.

"Imagine the amount of trouble either one of us had been in if we pulled a gun on each other or picked up a metal pipe." Dean said.

Kate broke down. He was right. Those powers would one day be able to harm an archangel. It was dangerous to aim them at each other.

Dean gave her a dozen more on her sit spots and stopped. He was going to have arthritis in his hand if she didn't get her head on right.

Kate felt his hand pulling on her shoulder and got up. She whined when she pulled her pants back up.

Dean held his arms out and soothed her while she calmed down.

Kate steadied herself and wiped her eyes. She really did feel bad for fighting with Taylor. "So... if we argue and punch each other, we won't get in trouble, right?"

Dean snorted. "I can't promise you that. I can promise that you would be in far less trouble."

"Taylor wouldn't hit a girl." Kate said.

Dean brushed her hair back. "Don't use that to your advantage." He patted her leg. "You two can explain what happened while we drive. We are down to just the truck so have fun sitting on that backseat."

Kate groaned. "These are times that you think older me would come back and tell me not to do things."

Dean opened her door. "I don't think you would even listen to you." He met eyes with John and nodded. "Do what you need to do and then head to the garage." He sighed. "For right now, you both are good. We are going to have a talk on the way to Lawrence. You can expect a double up from dad in a few days."

Kate shrieked and covered her mouth.

"Not a replay. Just a few with the belt." Dean said.

Kate frowned deeply.

"You'll be fine by then and then the small number of licks won't kill you." Dean said.

Kate scoffed. "I think you underestimate how hard your hand is."

"It must not be hard enough or I wouldn't have had to hike through the woods to find you." Dean said.

Kate bounced on her toes in frustration. "I messed up. I broke baby's windows. Look me in the eye and tell me you wouldn't have teleported in that circumstance. I didn't even know I could actually do it."

Dean hugged her to let her know it was okay. "Oh, I would have abused that power. I would have also regretted it."

"Hypocrite," Kate mumbled light-heartedly.

"I could have just turned you over to dad." Dean said.

Kate looked up at him. She wasn't sure if that would have been any better.

Dean patted her back. "You have five minutes and then we are leaving."

Taylor had finished moving stuff between the vehicles and was leaning against the truck when Dean entered the garage. "I am really sorry, Dean."

"You are good for now. Like I told Kate, we are going to talk on the way to Lawrence." Dean said.

"Um, am I going to have to answer to you for the car windows?" Taylor asked.

Dean sighed. "I'm irritated about the windows but it is fixable. Kate will get a reminder in a few days from dad and you'll get one from me." He could see the crushed look on Taylor's face. "I said a reminder. I didn't say a replay."

Taylor relaxed a little bit. He saw Dean's sweatpants and wondered if he had time to change.

Dean went back to his room and changed clothes quickly before putting his duffle in the truck. He ran his hand down the impalas hood. He frowned at the missing window but took a closer look at the previously cracked one. "Taylor, I am actually angry about one thing."

Taylor stepped closer. "What?"

Dean pointed to the window. "You conveniently showed up once I was already an adult."

Taylor tilted his head.

John lightly smacked Dean's head. "You two aren't the first kids who have broken one of these windows."

Dean smirked.

"I don't think you can be envious of my ability to fix the car when you just threatened me with a reminder." Taylor said with a snort.

Dean walked by him and clapped him on the back. "That wasn't a threat. That was a promise."

Taylor groaned. Sitting for a long drive would suck but he did realize that it was far different than when he had lived with Craig. His brother had broken a window with a ball and blamed it on Taylor. He shivered at the memory.

"Do we have a ghost?" John asked.

Taylor blushed. "No, sir. We joke around about getting beat but I know that wasn't a real beating. I'm not even bruised. David broke the house window a few years ago and I got blamed. I guess I just have random memories and get chills."

"I'd be doing you a disservice if I did that." John said. "Kate!"

Kate slid into the garage. "Here."

John nodded. "Are you two going to argue if you are sitting by each other?"

Kate shook her dramatically. "Noooo sir."

Taylor echoed her.

Dean smirked. "You could make them wear the 'get along' shirt."

John chuckled. "That didn't work out the way I had planned."

Kate hissed as she took her seat in the truck. She slid forward to take the weight off of her sit spots. "What is the 'get along' shirt?"

Dean opened the garage doors and closed them as soon as the truck was through. He jumped back into the front seat and shut the door.

John started the truck. "When the boys were younger, about 6 and 10, they would bicker constantly. I put one of my larger t-shirts on them so they'd be stuck together until they stopped arguing. Dean," John turned his head to look at his original wayward son. "was taller than Sam so Sam's face was covered if they tried to get up and walk. Then Dean figured out he could walk by doorways and Sam wouldn't see them so he'd smack them with his face."

Dean chuckled at the memory.

Taylor mimicked the way Kate was sitting. "You are awful preachy for someone who tried to take out their little brother."

Dean turned and looked at them. "We have established that I would have misused abilities. I will admit that. I am trying to make sure you two don't turn out to be what I would have been had someone given me powers."

Kate turned to Taylor. "Dean said it was okay for us to beat the crap out of each other as long as no weapons were used. Our abilities are like weapons so me hitting you with that wave was like hitting you with a metal bar."

Taylor raised his eyebrows.

"I did not say to beat the crap out of each other." Dean said.

Kate smirked.

John knew the bickering was good natured. "Do not make me turn this truck around."

Dean scoffed. "Haven't hard that one in a while."

John got on the road and handed Dean the folded map. "We have four or five hours ahead. Decide who talks first and then explain why and how you ended up where you are."

Kate gave Taylor a look and then sighed. "I may have been irritable."

John looked at her through the rearview mirror. "I already talked to Dean about why I was irritable. I guess maybe hormones too. I am almost 12."

Dean whipped his head around. "You already did the becoming a woman thing when you got the big burst of grace."

Kate shrugged. "I don't know. I mean... did 19 year old me look like this?"

Dean made a face. She looked like any other 19 year old which meant that she was going to look less like an 11 year old, probably sooner than he'd be comfortable with. "You know what, let's skip that idea."

Kate cracked her knuckles. She would be fine if she didn't have to suffer the whole puberty thing. She wasn't even really interested in dating any time soon. However, Dean's reactions made the topics too much fun to pass up. "Anyway, I was moody. We kept butting heads and digging at each other."

Taylor nodded. "I was annoyed that she was being moody and I didn't help the situation."

With everything explained, John let them drop the topic.

Dean called Sam to check in and see when they were going to visit. He finished up the conversation and turned around to see why the kids were quiet. He smirked. "Look."

John pulled the rearview mirror downward to get a look at them. Taylor was turned with his back against the door and his feet on the seat with his knees bent. Kate had placed her pillow on his shins and leaned sideways so that she could sleep. Taylor was asleep too and had the hood of his jacket over half of his face. "I guess they made up."

The truck was quiet except for the music which was not nearly as loud as Dean preferred it. The trip went smoothly and John stopped for Dean to get out and grab something for them to eat. He reached back and tapped Taylor's knee. "Hey, wake up."

Taylor woke up and stretched. His feet were asleep. He nudged Kate and got her to sit up.

"Run in and use the bathroom. We are close and Dean is grabbing food."

Dean brought bags of food back to the car and took his portion of fries from Kate and Taylor's boxes. He had deemed it as the 'big brother tax' when Sam was still little.

John drove to the place that Mary told him about. It didn't look like much, which was likely the point. He walked around the rundown shack of a house and found cellar doors. They were heavy and probably impossible to pry open. There was a lock with a combination. He spun the dial back and forth using Mary's birthday as the combination. He heard the final click and smiled. He opened the doors and carefully stepped down the steps, careful to look for tripwires or other traps. The Campbells knew their stuff. There was warding against demons and devil's traps on the floor and ceiling. Unlike the bunker, the cellar had no electricity. He told Dean and the kids they could go in and grabbed a lantern to light the room.

Kate looked around. There was dust everywhere. "I guess no one has been in here in a while."

"Maybe not since before Mary and I got married." John said. "Her father died in 1973."

Taylor found some photos. "Do you know any of these people?"

John looked at the frames. He wiped one with the sleeve of his jacket. "That is Mary's parents and this is Mary." He pointed to a teenager beside the two adults.

Dean looked over his shoulder. "Dad, she was out of your league."

John elbowed him. He looked at the rest of the photos. He didn't recognize some of the people but there were a few of Mary at different ages.

Dean held up one of Mary. She was probably four or five. "I guess Sam got the puppy eyes from mom."

John looked at it and smiled. "She was a spitfire. I didn't get to meet her until we were teenagers."

Taylor found a thick book. "I think I found the family tree book." He placed it on a table so everyone could look at it. The book was old. The spine protested as he opened it.

"Look at the last entry first." Dean said.

Taylor gently turned the pages and finally found the most recent entries.

John saw Mary's name and an account of her birth. There were more entries like her first hunt and other memorable things that someone had written down.

"Cousins." Kate said. She wrote down the names of the cousins that might still be alive.

Each page took them farther back in time. John wasn't sure how he had never heard of the Campbell family as hunters. As far as he could tell, they had been hunters since they settled in America.

Kate stepped back to look at the other books. She'd have a chance to study the family book once they were done. She read a few of the spines. Most of the books were about vampires, demons, werewolves, and other creatures that they already knew about. She found some journals. Each belonged to a family member that had likely passed away. She looked at the dates and started organizing them by the times in which they were written. "Taylor, this one mentions Marie's dad."

Taylor perked up and looked at the journal. "I can ask her if she knows the name."

John shut the family book and placed it in a crate that they had brought in. If they spent the entire time combing through books, they wouldn't have time to look at anything else. Books traveled well and they could study them at Bobby's house.

The Campbell family had a good store of weapons, although they were not as pristine as the ones that were found in the bunker.

"Did Mary not come back here after he died?" Kate asked.

"I don't know." John said.

Kate found a stack of blankets that looked handmade. "Look how pretty this is."

John turned and looked at the blanket. He looked around the edges of it. "Mary had one just like this."

"Maybe they were a family thing." Kate said.

"Did it burn in the fire?" Taylor asked.

John shook his head. "No, she and I.. we.." He chuckled at the memory. "We had to leave it behind because we had to run."

Dean studied John's face and then scoffed. "Geeze, dad, what were you running from?"

John's ears turned slightly pink. "That is not a story any of you need to hear."

Kate was clueless. "Why?"

Dean put a hand on her shoulder. "You don't want to know."

John refolded the blanket and tossed it in the crate. He had some really good memories with that blanket.

"Why would they keep blankets down here?" Taylor asked.

"If you had to sleep down here, I'd assume that you would want a blanket." Dean said.

Kate held up another one. "This has hunting symbols on it." She put it around her shoulders. "This puts new meaning to people thinking the monster under your bed can't get you if you're under the blankets."

"What if someone comes back and all of this is gone?" Taylor asked.

"We could leave a note. Sam and I are Mary's sons. We have the same right to it that anyone else does." Dean said.

John found a few boxes with symbols on the sides. He placed them in a larger box that would keep cursed objects safe.

"I wonder how many of these places are out there," Kate said. "Hunters have cabins. The bunker is too big of a secret to share with too many people but this place could save someone if they had to go underground."

Dean found more pictures and put them with the others. The ones that had Mary in them were important but so were some of the others. Marie may recognize someone.

Kate crouched down. "What do we think is behind the tiny door?"

John tapped her so that she'd step back. It was odd to have a door that size. He, nor Dean would fit through it.

"Should I open it?" Kate asked.

John shook the door a little. He didn't think anything would be in there that would jump out at them but with hunters, it was always best to be careful. "Move back."

Kate stood beside Dean as John opened the door.

John used a flashlight to look through the door. He was not expecting it to be a smaller room. There were toys in a box and a mat on the floor. There was also a shelf with food. He was puzzled for a moment.

Kate tapped him. "Can I look?" She crawled through the door and was able to stand up. She saw some drawings that were taped to the wall and sighed. "I think this may be where Mary stayed sometimes."

"Did they lock mom in a closet?" Dean asked.

"Uh, it kind of looks like a safe room." Kate said. "There is a lot in here that would make a kid comfortable. If you were on supernatural lockdown, this could be an extra layer of protection. There are symbols on the walls.

Dean looked through the door too. It was bigger than the door made it look. "I guess a kid could get through the door but anything bigger couldn't."

Kate grinned. "I need a room like this."

Taylor smirked. "The crawl space at Bobby's house."

"I can still fit through that." Dean said. "If you tried hiding out I could pull you out."

Kate laughed. "Yeah if someone tied a rope to your foot."

Taylor remembered the weird board at the end of the crawl space. That gave him some ideas.

Kate touched one of the drawings and furrowed her eyebrows. She carefully removed it from the wall and passed it to John. "Look at that."

It was a drawing of what looked like a mom, dad, and two kids. They were standing in front of a house and had big smiles on their faces.

Dean felt a flutter in his stomach. "Is it just me or does that look a whole lot like us?"

John turned the page over and confirmed that Mary was the one that had drawn it. The date she had written was October 8, 1961. "She was six or so when she did this."

The mom had blonde hair and was holding hands with a blonde boy with green eyes and the dad was holding another kid with brown curly hair. That wasn't the only questionable drawing. There were others that looked like predictions.

"If our families have been exposed to grace for ages, and that is how Taylor and I were able to handle it, it would make sense that Mary was exposed too. Do you think she had visions?" Kate asked.

Until John had gotten to visit Mary in heaven, he thought that she was just a civilian. Then, he found out that her family consisted of hunters. Thinking that she may have had visions was another layer of confusion. "She would have told me when I was in heaven."

"Sam didn't tell us until Kate came along because he wasn't sure what they were. They weren't strong and he thought that we'd think he was crazy." Dean said. "If she was seeing this stuff, maybe she forgot and didn't connect it."

Kate found a rag doll. It had on a floral dress and a matching bonnet. She recognized it from a picture of Mary that they had found in the other room. "Dean, take this."

Dean cringed. "No, dolls are creepy."

Kate tossed the doll to him. "That one isn't and it belonged to your mom. I think she'd want it passed down."

"I'm not really into dolls and I don't think Sam needs one." Dean said.

Kate poked her head out of the doorway. "Grandchildren."

Dean held the doll by one of its feet. "We aren't doing that."

Kate rolled her eyes. "Put the doll in the box, Dean." She gathered the things that she thought would be useful or that held memories. She took all of the drawings to study later. Under the mat, she found a small journal. She handed it to John.

John read the first page. The handwriting was hard to read and the date at the top told him that it was probably when Mary had just learned to write. He chuckled. "Looks like you got your mom's handwriting."

Dean looked at the page. "I write a little better than that."

Taylor smiled. "Only a little better."

Kate looked around the small room. It was sad in a way. It was scary being left in motel rooms and she wasn't sure if it would be better or worse to be in a room like that. She saw something shiny at the back of a shelf and grabbed it. It was a bracelet with hunting symbols. There was also the men of letter's symbol.

John held his hand out for it. "She told me that she lost this. She always wore it. Right before we got married, it went missing."

"Maybe she came back to lock this part of her life away for good." Kate said.

After a few hours, Taylor's stomach growled.

Dean heard it. "We should probably feed him."

John chuckled. "Missouri is making dinner. We will spend the night over there and then come back tomorrow. We will finish up and drive back."

Kate turned back to look at young Mary's room. She saw a rolled paper that was wedged into a crevice. She tilted her head and pulled it out. The drawing was odd to her. She ran her fingers over the face. Something in her heart told her to keep it to herself for a little while. She carefully rolled it up and put it in her pocket. "Oh, Mary, what did you see?"

Missouri welcomed them with hugs. "Go on in, dinner is ready."

They had left most of the boxes in the cellar so that there was no worry of them being taken from the truck. John carried a crate inside. "Would you take a look at these tonight?"

Missouri glanced at the books. "Of course."

Kate let the guys do most of the talking. She was in deep thought. Would someone find her drawings one day and struggle to understand their meaning? When they were all gone, would Bobby's house be as big of a mystery as the bunker and cellar? How much has been lost to the sands of time just because a generation died off before the knowledge could be handed down?

Sam finished a study guide and ran his fingers through his hair. "I'm not ready for this test."

Jess wrapped her arms around him. "Yes, you are. You aren't even going to need those notes."

Both of them had a few finals to take before the quarter was over. They hadn't told Jess's parents that they were going to Sioux Falls but they'd have to tell them at their weekly dinner.

"I don't know. My head hurts." Sam said.

Jess kissed him. "I always get a headache on nights like this."

Sam got up. "Just ignore your mom when she starts. I've got your back."

Jess fell back onto the bed. "If you break your leg, we can skip tonight."

Sam looked at his leg. "I'm kind of fond of my nonbroken legs."

"Do you still have an appendix?" Jess asked.

Sam laughed. "Yes and I'd like to keep it."

"You wouldn't give up an appendix for me?" Jess asked.

"I may give up a kidney if you needed it. Although, dinner with your parents isn't quite worthy of losing an organ to get out of." Sam said.

Jess frowned jokingly. "I thought you loved me."

Sam kissed her. "I do but let's save faking my death for more serious things."

Jess slowly sat up. "I could lose my voice."

"Then your mom would still say things but you couldn't say anything to her about it." Sam said.

"Why are you always so logical?" Jess asked.

Sam smiled. "One of us has to be."

Jess held out her hand for Sam to pull her up. "If I give you the signal, you have to fake abdominal pain."

Sam put an arm around her. "What is the signal?"

"Blinking." Jess said.

"If you call me Sammy then I'll know to pretend I'm dying and need to go to the hospital." Sam said.

Jess stopped walking. "Sammy."

Sam kissed the top of her head. "Not until we get there."

Jess groaned and put her shoes on. "What did they find at the place your mom said to go?"

"I don't know yet." Sam said. He called Dean as they drove.

Missouri told him to tell them hello.

Dean told them some of what they found.

Sam furrowed his eyebrows. "So mom was a lot more involved in this stuff than we thought."

"She may have had visions too." Kate said.

Sam wanted to ask a dozen more questions but he had reached the gates to Jess's parent's house. "Let me know what else you find. I can't wait to look at this stuff."

Jess got out of the car and looked up at the high arches. She waited for Sam before ringing the bell.

Sam squeezed her hand. Her parents were hard to deal with at times but they tried to make up for it by giving her just about anything she could ever want.

Dinner went smoothly until the topic of the break came up. Jess's parents had planned out a beach trip that they took every year.

"Mom, we won't be going this year." Jess said.

"What do you mean you won't be going? You go every year."

"We are going to see Sam's family." Jess said.

Martha, Jess's mother put her hand on her chest. She launched herself into a fit about Jess not wanting to spend time with them and being too good for them now.

Sam tried to stay out of the drama and worked to appease her parents. "My sister is going through some things. Jess has been talking her through it. My dad and brothers just don't quite get what it is like being a girl. She asked us to visit."

"You could do that this summer." Martha said, hotly.

"She is struggling now and we have decided to take the short break to visit them." Sam explained.

Martha continued to make her displeasure known. She turned from the break to Jess's attitude.

Sam patted Jess's leg. He handed her the car keys and nodded his head.

Jess got up and left the house.

Martha was astonished.

Sam waited for her to take a breath. "None of what you just said is true."

Martha looked at her husband for backup.

Sam caught the man's look and placed both palms on the table and stood up. "I'm not looking to argue. I want to say something that I think you should know. Then, I'm going to leave and take Jess home." He waited for Jess's dad to acknowledge him. "The last few times we have left here, Jess has gotten down on herself. Last time she broke down. She thinks that nothing she does will ever be good enough. I've seen the trophies and ribbons that you have displayed here. She is smart. She is talented and has the grades and achievements to prove it. It doesn't matter if Stacey has an internship or Audrey just married a guy from your country club. Jess is your daughter. My dad and I clashed when I was a teenager. I applied for Stanford, partially to get away from him. He had a change of heart and I am actually looking forward to seeing him over the break. This is your house, Jess is your daughter but she is also someone that I love dearly. I'm going to go put her back together, again, and next time she begs me not to make her come here for dinner, I won't. I've been talking her down for weeks. I told her that maybe you think that you are motivating her to do more." He moved his hands and stood at his full height. "Think about it and fix it before she decided to leave too."

Jess was in the car with tears in her eyes. She was so frustrated and hurt. She saw Sam leaving the house and sniffled when he opened the car door.

Sam sighed.

"What happened?" Jess asked.

"I said my peace." Sam said. "If that doesn't work, Kate can always compel them to be nice."

Jess smiled slightly. "Thank you."

Caleb's boss called him in to help with a burst pipe that was flooding a client's home. He kissed April and hugged both of the boys. "This shouldn't take long and then I'll be home."

Andy didn't like when Caleb had to work. He wanted everyone to be home all the time.

April was tired. She made food for the boys and turned a movie on for them. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes. A quick nap would do her a world of good.

Andy ate his food and carried his plate to the sink. He helped Ian by wiping his face and carrying his plate to the sink too. He saw that his mom was napping and decided to watch Ian so that he didn't get into trouble. He played with trucks and watched the movie.

Caleb waded through the flooded basement. "How did they manage this one?"

Hank, his boss shrugged. "Home renovations."

Caleb sat the new pipe on top of a shelf. He turned on the shop vac to start clearing the water. It was a simple job. It took him a little while to get used to how simple his work was. Hunting wasn't simple at all. Once the pipe was fixed and the water was gone, they could leave a dryer overnight to finish drying the floor.

Andy noticed Ian rubbing his eyes and looked at the time. It was almost Ian's bedtime. He tapped April. "Mama, Ian is sleepy." He tapped her a little harder. "It is his bedtime, mom." When she didn't respond he touched her face. He pried her eye open. "Mama?"

Caleb felt his phone vibrate and excused himself so that he could hear over the loud sound of the shop vac. "Hey, April, I am still clearing out the water."

Andy swallowed. "It is Andy."

Caleb frowned. "Andy, what is wrong?"

"Mama won't wake up." Andy said.

"What do you mean she won't wake up?" Caleb asked. He felt blood pooling in his feet.

"When we were watching a movie she fell asleep. Ian is sleepy and mom won't wake up." Andy said.

Caleb sat back on the steps. "Andy, can you feel her heartbeat?"

Andy touched April's chest. "Yes."

Caleb felt a touch of relief. "Did she eat dinner?"

"I don't know." Andy said. He shook her arm.

"Listen, go to the kitchen. Get the sugar and add a bunch to some water."

Andy did what Caleb told him to do.

"Use a spoon and give her a little bit." Caleb said.

Andy did.

"Did she swallow?" Caleb asked.

"No." Andy said.

Caleb pushed down his terror. "Okay, I want you to try to give her a little more. Is it watery?"

"Yes." Andy said. Ian started to cry and he didn't know how to fix anything.

"Andy, buddy, listen. Just try a little more. Go slow. This is probably her blood sugar being low. I am going to walk back into the house I'm working at. It is going to be loud. I am going to borrow my boss's phone and have Bobby come over. I'll leave here but he is much closer." Caleb said.

Andy was scared. Ian was still crying and he was trying to get his mom to drink the sugar water.

Caleb ran back up the stairs and called Bobby. He made sure Andy could hear him. "It is going to be okay. You are doing a good job."

Bobby answered the phone and immediately grabbed his keys.

Karen asked him what was going on.

"April passed out and Caleb is too far away." Bobby said.

Karen grabbed her coat and jumped into the car with Bobby.

Caleb got off the phone with Bobby and called an ambulance. "Andy, I don't know if the paramedics will get there first or if Bobby will. You can open the door for them.

"What if it is someone bad?" Andy asked.

"We have traps for that." Caleb said. He told the dispatcher what was going on and had to stay on the line with them.

Andy heard the sirens and peaked out the window. He opened the door and pointed to the couch where April was.

Bobby showed up right after that. He and Karen told the paramedics that they were family and had came to get the boys.

Andy confirmed that he did know them and protested when they said he had to stay there. "She's my mom. I want to go with her."

Bobby patted his arm. "You are going to stay here with Karen."

Andy started crying. "I want to go with my mom."

"Buddy, I know. We are just going to the hospital and they will give her some medicine. You have to stay here."

The door shut in Andy's face.

"Andy." Caleb said through the phone.

Andy sat down on the floor and cried. "I thought she was napping."

"I am driving now. You did so good. She is so lucky to have you as a kid." Caleb said.

Karen touched Andy's shoulder and motioned for him to sit on the couch. "I've got the boys, honey. Bobby is with April. You drive safe. She is going to be okay."

April started to wake up a little and panicked.

Bobby squeezed her hand. "Karen has the boys. Caleb is on his way. Do you know what happened?"

April was too weak and tired to talk. She just nodded.

Karen hummed as she rocked Ian to sleep. She got him tucked into his bed and went to soothe Andy. "She will be okay. Bobby said she is already waking up."

Andy laid his head on Karen's lap and let her card her fingers through his hair. He curled up and pulled a blanket over himself. "I'm scared."

"I know. You were so brave." Karen said. She could see his eyes growing heavy. "My little sister, Lauren, had the same troubles. Sometimes her blood sugar would get so low that she would just fall asleep."

"Was she okay?" Andy asked.

Karen nodded. In reality, she hadn't seen Lauren since she was ten, but Andy didn't need to know that. "Yep. Every time she wound up fine." She let her eyes wander around the room as Andy relaxed. There were photos of the boys and a few new ones that had Caleb in them. There was one of Caleb as a boy and she smiled at the grin on his face that was far bigger than the fish he had caught. She saw another photo. "Is that your mom when she was a little girl?"

Andy yawned. "Yeah and Elizabeth."

Karen squinted her eyes. "Is Elizabeth your aunt?"

Andy picked his head up. "Yeah."

Karen couldn't take her eyes off the picture. Elizabeth looked so much like Lauren that it seemed odd. Of course, Lauren was forever ten in Karen's memory. Elizabeth was at least in her 20s when the photo was taken. She looked down at Andy and saw that he had fallen asleep. She shifted so that he could lay his head on a pillow. She would have loved to see Lauren grow up and it hurt her that she didn't get the chance. She had no idea where she was or where she went. She got a closer look at the photo of April and Elizabeth. Elizabeth had on a v neck t-shirt that showed part of her collarbone. At the edge of the t-shirt was part of a brown birthmark. Karen stared at the photo. Lauren had a large birthmark in that spot. It looked a bit like a butterfly. She called Bobby and waited for an answer.

"Hey, Karen. April is awake. She just getting some meds and an IV." Bobby said.

Karen was glad that April was okay. She would share the information if Andy woke up. She hated to ask at a time like that but her mind was spinning. "Can I talk to her?"

"Hi, how are the boys?" April asked.

"Ian is in his bed. Andy is asleep on the couch." Karen said. She took a deep breath. "April, I have a silly question."

April took a sip of the glucose drink that a nurse had given her. "What is it?"

"Well, there is a photo of you and your sister on the wall. The birthmark on her left shoulder.. is it shaped like a butterfly?" Karen asked.

April put the drink down. "Yes, it was."

Karen stared at the photo. "That is so odd. My sister had one in that spot too." She chuckled. "We called her our butterfly baby because when she was two, she fell on some rocks and scraped up her knee. She had a scar that looked like a butterfly."

Bobby saw April's face pale and asked if she was okay.

April waved him off. "Um, Elizabeth also have a scar on the back of her right leg where a dog bit her."

Karen took a seat. She remembered the little mutt that did it. "What about a streak of blonde hair at the back of her head?"

April gave Bobby a look. "How.. how do you know that?"

"Those are all things that my sister had before she went missing," Karen said. "She also had problems with her blood sugar like you do."

"Elizabeth struggled with it. She said it was genetic." April said.

A nurse came back into the room so Bobby took the phone. "Karen, what is wrong?"

Karen felt a rush of emotion. "Somehow, my sister that went missing when she was ten years old is in a photo with April, as an adult."

Bobby rubbed his face. Couldn't one thing be cut and dry? He whispered something to April before saying it to Karen. "Elizabeth is Andy's birth mother."

Karen sat back down beside Andy. She could see it now. He had Lauren's eyes. He had her smile. She had so many questions about how it was even possible. She was so focused that she didn't notice the shadow that passed outside the window.

The figure stepped back from the house with a content look on their face. They held their hand out and blanketed the apartment in a protection spell. "One down, two to go."
