Hi guys, I know the year is 2024 and this is very odd to be writing on a couple that is sadly no longer with us but I know a few people still find comfort in the pair, so I thought writing a Drabble may also make people smile that loved them as much. I will probably be writing some more if this gets anywhere. I did post this on my other account monchelelov3rxo but cannot log back in. Thank you :)

It was another long day on the Glee set for Cory, glancing at his watch in disbelief he saw the time was already 12:45am. Knowing that he had a few more shots to do, he made a fast approach for the coffee table. He knew that coffee would do the trick to keep him awake. As he made his way up to the coffee table he saw Lea standing there too.

The brunette had been very distant with him recently, they would usually find themselves in deep conversations, singing or laughing at his awful jokes but at the moment that was certainly not the case. She'd simply say morning and scurry off to her chair and wouldn't even want to hold a conversation with him nor look in his direction. Cory knew something was going on and he needed to figure it out and fast.

"Look who is here, taking all the coffee again." Cory joked, hoping that being his usual self would help Lea talk to him.

"Well, you know me." Lea said somewhat coldly, as she poured some milk into the coffee cup, not even looking in Cory's direction.

"I certainly do, bet this is your 2nd coffee isn't it?" He nudged as he got all the condiments to make his coffee.

"Nope, 3rd." Lea said with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.

Cory definitely knew that something was wrong, she'd never use a sarcastic tone with him unless they were joking around but Cory knew by her tone and expression, she was definitely not.

"Hey, are you okay, you've seemed off it for the pass week or so"

"Yep, fine." Lea replied in a monotone voice.

"Lee, I know you, you are definitely not fine. You never just sit quietly, you can't even look at me, I'm your best friend, I'm here for you" Cory said looking down at the petite girl standing in front of him.

"Yeah and that's what's we'll always be. Fire and water, totally opposite people, is that correct?" Lea spitted back at him, finally making strict eye contact with him.

"What do you mean?" Cory said confused.

Before Lea had chance to reply, Ryan called her over for his finally shot of the day, slamming her paper cup on the table, she rushed off to her position leaving Cory dumbfounded to what just happened.

Cory finally wrapped up for the night being the last cast member to be on set, after locking his trailer, he headed to his car. His mind running a 100 miles an hour of what happened between him and Lea. He had never seen her so angry before, especially at him. He couldn't even catch her before she left.

Once he made it to his car, he threw his backpack in the back seat, ready to head home but before he jumped into the car, he saw a similar car parked 2 spaces down. Looking more closely he realised it was Lea.

Without a second thought, he locked his car and made way to her parked car.

Once he got closer, he could see that she was crying and tapped on the window gently not to startle her with his appearance. Lea quickly looked up at Cory, who could only look at her sympathetically. Realising he wasn't going to leave her, she unlocked her car. In which Cory opened her door almost immediately.

Once the door was open, Cory knelt down in front of her, not minding that the concrete floor was wet from the down pour earlier that day. Lea remained seated looking forwards and avoiding his strong eye contact.

"Lea, why haven't you gone home" Cory asked softly but all Lea did was sit, staring into to space.

"Look, I don't know why you're so upset, especially with m-"

"You said you we were like water and fire... In your interview.." Lea cut in before he could finish, still not making eye contact with him.

Realising what she meant, he looked down, guilt rattling through his body.

She continued "you said we were totally opposite people and we was like fire and water and that we would never work."

"Lea, I meant as a couple, we are totally different people but that doesn't have anything to do with our friendship, we get on so well as friends" Cory said sincerely.

At this point a tear drop down lea's face, soon enough erupting into a big sob.

Without saying a word, Cory got up, shut her door and walked to the passenger side quickly jumping in. Once he was in, he wrapped his arms around Lea, thinking she'd slap him away but she just gripped onto him tightly.

After 10 minutes of rocking her side to side, she eventually calmed down evidently still upset as she tried to catch her breathe from the crying.

"You know I'm not the smartest person in the world, don't you?" Cory whispered as he held her close. "Sometimes I say things without thinking, get all, worked up but in no way, shape or form did I mean our friendship, we have an amazing bond, you are so special to me." Cory finished.

"You're special to me too, I'm just being silly" Lea said softly pulling away and wiping her eyes.

"No, you're definitely not silly" catching a loose tear falling from her eye with his thumb "I'm silly for upsetting you and being dumb." Cory said.

"I wouldn't say dumb, maybe silly but not dumb" Lea smirked.

"Oh, cocky now, are we?" Cory teased as Lea giggled "There she is, my smiley girl" Cory nudged noticing she was tensed again after the statement.

"What's going on Lee, there is more to this, isn't there?"

"No, I'm fine" Lea said, Cory giving Lea a knowingly looked.

"Cory don't make me do this, i can't" Looking down at her lap.

"Do what? You know whatever you need to tell me, I'll listen, this is me your talking too.." Cory said looking at her.

"Yes it's you, that's what makes this so fucking difficult!" Lea said sharply.

"You aren't making sense, why is this difficult?"

"Because I have feelings for you!" Lea blurted out.

And just like that, Cory's world stop, it felt like everything was closing in around him, his heart felt like it was in his mouth. His best friend had feelings for him, his co-star not even that, Lea Michele, had feelings for him. What felt like a eternity he turned to Lea dumbfounded, seeing fresh tears rolling down her face.

"Oh Lea, don't cry" Cory said grabbing her hand without thinking.

"It's stupid, I know... we've been best friends for so long, I thought that was just it. I ignored all the signs, the butterflies, the spark but then you said what you said and it-"

"Hurt you." Cory said finishing her sentence while she nodded.

Cory rubbed his face with his hands feeling like everything had came down on him like a ton of bricks.

"I've messed up, haven't I, you don't feel the same way." Lea quietly said.

"You certainly haven't messed up, I'll admit, I've had the biggest crush on you since you came into them doors there" pointing at the doors across from him. "you were wearing a pink dress and with them black heels."

"And I came up, asking if you was playing Finn" Lea smirked.

"Yeah, you looked cute that day" Cory said looking at her seeing that she was getting choked up.

"You're still cute now, smoking hot, I'd say but you're too pretty to be crying over me." Cory wiped her tears. "I've never had a girl cry over me."

"Yeah, well, I've never cried over a boy like this" Lea said pointing at herself. "You have a hold over me and you can't deny that you feel the same way."

"No, I can't." Cory finally admitted. "It's scary, that you make me feel this way" Cory said studying her face.

"Stop looking at me like that" Lea said "You're just saying all this because you feel sorry for me, when only 20 minutes ago you said we wouldn't work as a couple."

"Yeah because I'm going to tell you, I have feelings for you, knelt down on concrete floor, which by the way, was wet, look at my knees." He said jokingly pointing to his now wet jeans. "Stop being silly, I have feelings for you, always have, I'm not going to tell the whole world in a interview before I tell you." Cory said stroking her face.

"So why didn't you say anything to me beforehand? Why has it took till now for you to confess this to me?" Lea softly said.

"I was the same as you, scared. I think I was more scared of the fact of rejection, I mean this is you. Lea Michele, Broadway bound. Not in a million years did I think you'd go for the ex-junky."

"I don't see you that way, never have. You're much more than that.. I mean look at where you are now, that's something.. we may of had different paths in life but them paths lend us here, to each other!" Lea looked sincerely at him.

"I like that." Cory admitted.

"So, what do we do from here?" Lea asked.

"I mean, I can't just leave this car tonight going back to best friends, can you?" Cory said looking for an expression off Lea.

"No but I don't want to rush into whatever this is and ruin everything between us completely and I lose you." Lea softly said.

"You won't lose me, yes, we have complications, with work, our life being displayed everywhere but I'm willing to make it all work to be with you." Cory said confidentiality.

All Lea could do was smile, she was officially lost for words, she's never had someone be so into her.

"What do you say? I'm not going push you and make you my girlfriend right away, especially here but maybe a first date, see where it takes us." Cory said.

"I'd love too." Lea blushed.

"Awesome, I'll pick you up Thursday, say 7pm? I've got somewhere in mind, that I know you'll love." Cory said.

"That'll be great Cory." She smiled in delight, as Cory flashed his trademark smile one final time before exiting the car.

"Night Lee, I'm only a phone call away if you need anything, okay?" Cory said before closing her car door.

Lea waved a little goodbye to him through the window, watching him walk to his car, she felt like a lovesick teenager, all these crazy emotions washed over her. She couldn't believe what just happened. She was going on a date with Cory Monteith.

She doesn't know what has come over her but the whole interaction made her want Cory more.

Cory was truly giddy, he felt like he could jump and down as he made his way to his car. He was going on a date with thee Lea Michele, that seemed like an absolute dream to him.

"Cor!" Lea shouted as he saw her run up to him breaking him away from his thoughts as he reached his car door.

Has she changed her mind on the whole thing already?

"Yeah?" Cory said.

Without a second thought, Lea reached up on her tippy toes and smashed her lips into his. He felt startled at first but soon sank into it. This wasn't anything new to the pair, they've done this a million times but this time, felt special because it was just them, no cameras, no director, just them.

Once they pulled away, cory smiled down at her as she looked up at him blushing.

"And what was that for?" Cory smirked.

"For the wet knees, obviously." Lea winked.

"Obviously.." Cory said caressing her cheek as Lea looked up at him.

"I best be going.." Lea said as they fell in a comfortable silence.

"Okay, I'll see you Thursday, text me when you get home safe, I know how reckless you are on the roads" Cory winked.

"That was one time, you're never going let that go are you?" Lea chucked.

"Nah, definitely not." he laughed.

"I'll let you off, this time" she smiled.

"Night gorgeous." Cory said pecking her lips one more time before getting into his car.

Yeah, she was pretty sure, she could let the whole fire and water thing, go after all.
