Energy blasts and explosions sounded as he ducked under cover, peeking over it, he saw several Brutes taking down an elite squad of UNSC troopers
"Where are the SPARTANs?" a member of his unit asked
"Quiet!" Naofumi snapped as he looked around before a Hunter appeared and destroyed the Scorpion Tank "Shit"
"What are we going to do?" the scout asked as several Elites showed up
"Circle around and take the elites by surprise." Naofumi said preparing his M392 DMR
"You got it!" the scout said as he did was Naofumi ordered.
It was a true shit show, nothing like the simulations that he and his squad were use to. He looked around seeing Brutes, Grunts and Elites everywhere
"This is going to be tough to get through." a female member of his unit said
"No kidding." Naofumi muttered as he looked through his scope as a brute in golden armour showed up
"IS THAT A BRUTE CAPTAIN!" another member said
"Shh!" Naofumi said "Let's just try and get to that Scorpion." he said pointing to one on a side road
"Are you kidding me?" the scout asked "No offence sir, but they have like 30 times the amount of soldiers as we do, a CAPTAIN is there and who know what else there is down there!"
"Then we push through, because we're needed. This is our world; no matter what they do, no matter what they seeming think what we are. That is nothing to us because we are Humanity and this is our fortress of Reach!" Naofumi declared "And I intend to help hold it until we are ordered to retreat. As long as there are civilians asking for help we will not falter! As long as our brothers and sisters in arms continue to fight back we will not falter!" he continued
"YES SIR!" the unit said
"HOW DO WE LAND!" Naofumi shouted
"FEET FIRST IN HELL!" the unit responded as they reloaded their weapons
"We do" Naofumi said "MOVE OUT!" he ordered as his unit quickly made their way down the road
"Enemies THERE!" a Grunt shouted
"OPEN FIRE!" Naofumi ordered! The squad unleashed fire on the Covenant, a few grenades were thrown, but they did nothing against the shields of the alien foes. Naofumi gritted his teeth and looked to see if he could spot the commander
"GRAV HAMMER!" one of them shouted as the Brute Captain rushed up to them and swung the hammer, pushing the unit apart. Naofumi was panicking until he smirked and aimed at the captain's belt. He had one last round in his DMR and pulled the trigger
"GET DOWN!" he shouted as the bullet hit the grenade making it explode. "MOVE UP!" he shouted as the unit reformed and moved up.
"Hang on" Naofumi said making the others halt before the sounds of gunfire
"What is it?" One of them asked
"I'm not sure" Naofumi frowned as he listened, trying to figure out what was happening. Suddenly an explosion sound revealing a Hunter who was charging his Fuel Rod Cannon "Oh fuck!" he shouted ducking as the plasma flew over here
"Ah sir, I think I need a change of pants" one of the said
"On your feet" Naofumi ordered helping him up and looking around. He needed to get rid of that hunter, but he didn't know.
"Any heavy ordinance?" the one he helped up asked
"Negative" Naofumi frowned
"Shit this isn't good" the soldier said
"No it isn't" Naofumi said "MOVE UP!" he shouted as the others followed him.
The unit was looking at a landing pad. Nafoumi requested a sniper rifle to look over the scene
"How is it?" a member asked
"Same as last time, not good. We're not going to be able to get down there easily" Naofumi said as he frowned. The place was packed with jackals and elites, they needed to get across the tarmac to where the Pelicans were so they could get out to the battle field out in the wastelands where the Covenant had set up some sort of outpost where they were directing the siege of Reach from. This wasn't going to be easy
"At least there's no hunters" a member chuckled
"Yeah" Naofumi frown, spotting some fighters "You think you can lead a small group of our guys over there"
"I could, but I'll need cover, also one of us will get that Pelican to make it easier fo you to get to it" he said
"Thanks man" Naofumi said as he passed the sniper back and got out his DMR "MOVE UP!" he shouted as he and the other ODSTs started to head to the landing pad. Most of them moving quickly and quietly, the sniper staying behind to give them cover.
"Wait ,I got a Squidhead" the sniper said
"Take it out" Naofumi responded "when did I become this group's leader?" he asked before he heard the telltale sign of a UNSC Sniper popping an Elite right in the skull. Peeking over their cover Naofumi gave the signal to move, before indicating two grunts. Two of the others with he ran up to them with their knives and killed them before another sniper shot was heard and a Jackal fell near them. Looking at the sniper's position Naofumi nodded. "MOVE UP!" he shouted as the unit moved forward firing upon Jackal and Elite alike. Naofumi was taking cover when a growl was heard from his left, looking up he saw an Elite deactivate his active camo and draw his plasma rifle. Acting fast Naofumi moved just in time to miss a shot from the plasma rifle. Once he was out of his roll, Naofumi pulled up his DMR and fired at the Elite, damaging its shield; a smirk on his face as he pulled something off a dead grunt and pressed a button before throwing it right into the jaws of the elite, making its mouth stick to the plasma grenade "Eat up Squid" he laughed taking cover as the grenade went off, killing the Elite. A smirk on Naofumi's face indicated he was glad it happened.
"NAOFUMI!" a voice shouted, gaining his attention, he looked over as the pilot were racing over to the aircraft as the ODST were finishing off the Covenant. Running over Naofumi shot a few jackals "We've done it"
"What about the Pelicans?" Naofumi asked
"The engine's warming up now" the pilot said
"Good" Naofumi said. Soon he was on board a Pelican, heading to the fight was the most intense.
"Where is that artillery fire?" Naofumi asked as he's team landed in a barren swamp as he fired his SMG while he saw several Grunts heading for him, he quickly head-shotted the lot of them before he withdrew a knife and jammed it into the mask of a Grunt that was running past him
"It was suppose to be here five minutes ago" a member of his unit shouted as he grabbed a shotgun and fired into several Jackals when the gun was wrenched out of his hands, so he drew his SOCOM Sidearm and fired at what was attacking him, a red armoured Elite! Naofumi backed up as two other ODSTs fired on it with assault rifles, he managed to turn and rush at the enemy, but he was knocked away by it. Scrambling to his feet, he felt something brush by his leg, looking down he saw a needle just missed his leg, turning around he opened fire on the Grunt holding the Needler before one came flying at him, he shot the incoming making shatter before it landed on his chest.
"GAH!" he screamed as he felt the various piece of hot crystallised plasma shrapnel puncture his armour and enter his chest, making it explode sending him flying back while his armour was destroyed
"NO, MEDIC!" a member of his unit shouted, as several of them all reformed around the injured Naofumi, who had blood escaping his mouth "DON'T YOU DARE DIE ON US IWATANI, THAT'S ORDER DAMNIT, WE'VE ALREADY LOST SO MANY WE DON'T NEED YOU ON THE LIST!" he shouted as he used his DMR to snipe some Jackals. The sights and sounds of the battlefield were fading as Naofumi felt himself losing consciousness.
It was dark, well of course it was he was dying. So this could be where the bright light he heard about was meeting him. He looked around and saw something in the distance, it appeared to be human
"HEY!" he shouted as a path of light appeared at his feet heading towards the figure "EXCUSE ME, WHERE AM I!" he shouted running towards them; making them laugh which sounded like tinkling bells
"Somewhere you are not suppose to be" they said
"What do you mean?" he asked as he got closer to the figure, which alerted him to it being a woman
"There are things you need to see, Helljumper" she said smiling before revealing a seaside village. Naofumi looked at it and tears flowed from his eyes
"That looks like the place where I grew up, I can even hear the waves crashing on the beach. The same beach me dad and my brother went fishing...I was suppose to go back there"
"And you will, but there are others who needs your help, and that means you are not suppose die here and you won't after all, you are meant for greater things" she said kissing Naofumi's head before looking beyond him where another woman stood "So tell me something miss; are you ready to help him" she said to the other woman.
She bolted up, sweat covering her body as she panted, she patted down her body and laid back. Looking out the window the first signs of morning was faintly on the horizon, so she got out of bed and went over to a room which held a small tub
'Why did I dream that?" she asked herself as she poured water into it and grabbed a cloth, dripping it into the cool soapy water before rubbing it over her skin to remove the traces of sweat that dream had covered her in. It was a strange dream, the events of what caused Naofumi to get that mass of scars, a frown creased her brow as she grabbed a bucket and poured water over herself to remove the soap suds from her body while dampening her hair. 'Is something coming that will be a danger to him?' she asked as the sun was now up more making her grab a towel and dry herself while humming a light melody as the sound of boots and marching was happening. "Okay time to get ready for another day at Bravo Alexandria" she said looking up as where two flags flew, one of the old village Lunolona and the other one was a UNSC Flag, she smiled and closed the window before going to get ready.
G'day Guys Grizz here and yes I have started the second season of Rise of the Shield Helljumper with an expanded look at what happened to Naofumi when he was on Reach, which is the small preview I posted in the extra sections of the last one. This was a shorter chapter then what I hope to write with the rest of this series,
Now I'll be trying a few things to fix what you guys really didn't like me doing with the other one, which included a more original plot and remixed elements including the msytery of who this woman is, that's right I didn't give the person her name to try and keep you guessin as to her it is until I reveal it
