Mymy wakes up very early in the morning to the sounds of somebody shaking and hyperventilating. She looks around to see who's making such sounds. It was Maya. She quickly rushes over to her and gently shakes her.
"Maya, wake up!", Mymy whispered. "Wake up!"
Maya still didn't wake up.
"Maya, please!", Mymy scream-whispered, getting very worried. "WAKE UP!"
Maya then woke up with a gasp.
"M-m-m-mymy...?", She whispered, disoriented.
"Yes, it's me!", Mymy replied. "What's going on? Why are you shaking so much?"
"Mymy, I need alcohol, and quick!", Maya shakily replied.
Mymy then silently sneaked into Maya's room, looking for her bottles. She found them, but quickly realized that both of them did not have enough to calm Maya down, so she rushed to her own room, got a bottle of stroopwafel hooch and rushed back to the living room. She hands the bottle to Maya, who quickly cracks it open and drinks it like it's water. Mymy found this very hard to watch. She wondered if it was really a good idea to feed her addiction like this.
"Thanks, Mymy...", Maya said after her withdrawals ceased. "Is this a new bottle?"
"No, this is the last one from last month's batch.", Mymy replied. "But I do have a new batch in my room if you want to check it out."
"Alright, cool.", Maya replied. "Now let me rest a little more and hide that bottle."
Mymy then hid the bottle in Maya's room and dressed up for the day. She then sat on her bed and began debating herself. She had just witnessed Maya, her own sister, suffering from severe withdrawal symptoms. It's very likely that, soon enough, Maya will literally have to drink alcohol to survive. And, instead of just ratting her out for her own good, she's instead feeding her addiction. And the reason for such choice? Money. Mymy started to feel the weight of her greed on her shoulders. She enjoyed the money, but was also willingly feeding her own sister's addiction and slowly killing her. It just... didn't feel right. Should she stop now and get Maya some actual help? Or maybe later? Or maybe limit the amount that Maya can buy?
"You know what?", Mymy replied to herself. "Let's do the following: do not think about this for now, Mymy. You need that money. Only think about it when you got yourself some good enough cash. It's not like Maya will die when that happens... right?"
Mymy then got up and continued her normal routine, first by eating some breakfast and then singing the Dutch national anthem in her room. A while later, she got a call from Vera. She made sure nobody else could hear her and answered.
"Hello?", Mymy said.
"Hello, Mymy.", Vera replied. "Did you do any business yet?"
"Yeah, actually.", Mymy replied. "I just sold €100 worth of booze to Cleo."
"Excellent. Anything with relatives yet?"
"Not yet. They'll arrive today, though, so I'll try getting them on board."
"Alright. By the way, since both you and Cleo are working for me, you won't have to give me half of what you sold to her. Instead, I just want a quarter of what you earned. In this case, it'll be just €20. Got it?"
"Got it, teacher!"
"Alright, then. Bye."
"Bye, teacher!"
Mymy was very happy with what she had just heard. Getting Cleo on board definitely paid off, and she could make a lot more money if she made making batches to Cleo her main priority. Of course, she still intended to sell some to Maya, but having Cleo on board was just the extra push she needed to motivate her to be more productive. After all, money is money, and Mymy wanted it!
And speaking of money, near lunchtime, her relatives started arriving. The first ones to arrive were her two maternal uncles. Unfortunately, they were not alcoholics as far as Mymy was concerned, so she ruled them out. After lunch, it was one of her cousins. Again, said cousin was not an alcoholic, so no point in roping them in. Then, one of her paternal uncles arrived.
"Now, wait a minute...", She thought as her uncle arrived. "I think that one is one of the alcoholic ones! Bingo!"
She then pulled up her phone and wrote his name on her notepad. This note would serve as her customer list, so to speak. She then sent Vera her €20 and waited for more relatives to arrive. By evening, when all the guests arrived, Mymy checked her list. Out of all the guests, two were alcoholics: the aforementioned uncle and her paternal grandfather. She then checked her stash. Besides the remaining bottles from her new batch, there were two bottles of vodka from the first batch. Perfect! Now, she just had to get them in on it.
After dinner, she saw her uncle on the hall, alone, looking at the painting on the walls. She went up to him and said:
"Hello, uncle! Looking at the paintings?"
"Yeah, they're really nice!", He replied. "By the way, are you one of Maya's adoptive sisters?"
"Yes, I am!", Mymy replied. "I'm Mymy. Remember me?"
"Oooooh! Wow, you look a lot different from what I remember! Been eating a lot of carrots?"
"Nah, I'm much more of a stroopwafel fan."
"Still explains how orange you are, haha!"
"Yeah, yeah, very funny... anyway, wanna check my room real quick? I have something special in there!"
"Sure, Mymy!"
She then took her uncle to her room.
"Here it is!", She said.
"Wow!", He said. "This is a very nice-looking room you got here! I take it you're a fan of Dutch colonial history, judging by all the decorations."
"I indeed am! I couldn't be more proud of what our nation has accomplished in all of its history!"
"Our nation? Wait, aren't you from J-"
"Aaaaaaaanyway, uncle, wanna see the special thing?"
"Uh, sure!"
Mymy then pulled out a bottle of vodka from under her bed.
"I made this all by myself!", Mymy said.
"Wait...", Her uncle said. "Is that vodka?"
"Yup! Very strong vodka, might I add! This bad boy is 45% alcohol!"
"Hey, that's quite a bit too strong for ya, don't you think?"
"Uh, I didn't make this for me to drink, I'm just selling it."
"Wait, really?", Her uncle then pulled out his wallet. "How much?"
"€8."
He then gave her the money.
"Thanks!", Mymy said.
"No problem!", The uncle replied. "But... how will I sneak this to my car? There are a lot of people in the living room right now."
"Easy!", Mymy said as she opened up her window. "You get outside, then I'll hand you the bottle, you get it in your car, and then get back here through the window."
He then got outside, and Mymy gave him the bottle. He then rushed to his car, put the bottle in the backseat, and ran back to Mymy's window and climbed back up.
"Thanks a lot, Mymy!", He said. "Make sure you got more of the good stuff next time I come here!"
"Will do!", Mymy replied.
The uncle then went back to the living room. Mymy was about to do the same, when Maya bumped into Mymy on the hall.
"Oh, hey, Mymy!", Maya said, slightly slurring her words. "Can you show me your new batch?"
"Oh, sure!", Mymy replied.
The two then went to Mymy's room. Mymy then pulled out her new batch.
"Behold!", She said, enthusiastically. "Besides the stroopwafel one, I also got pineapple, wine, and champagne!"
"Interesting...", Maya said while analyzing the bottles. "I really wanna try the pineapple one, plus the champagne if it isn't too expensive."
"Well, the pineapple one costs €10 and the champagne ones are €25 each."
"Well... I'll take the pineapple one and the champagne bottles!"
Maya then handed Mymy a €50 banknote and a €10 one.
"Alrighty!", Mymy said as she handed Maya the bottles. "Thanks for your purchase!"
Maya then took the bottles and went back to her room.
Mymy then went to the living room, trying to find an opportunity to strike a deal with her grandpa. Unfortunately, this opportunity never came, but she was still satisfied with what she could do. Now, all she needed to do was make more quality batches and profit even more.
