Charlie woke up to Kate a few inches from her face. She groaned and rolled over. "Too early."
Kate grabbed her foot and pulled until Charlie slipped off of her mat. "You can sleep in the car."
"You have no sympathy," Charlie complained.
"I have tons. The ice water wasn't an idle threat. He doesn't make those." Kate said.
Charlie sat up. "I thought I was immune to the whole Winchester justice system."
Kate laughed. "Some stuff. Sorry, though, ice water is an all-inclusive threat." She tossed Charlie a set of clothes and got up to leave. "Get changed. Sleep in the car."
Dean raised an eyebrow. "Is this early morning chipper Kate that I am seeing?"
Kate grinned. "Yep."
"Huh, I thought she had left us," Dean said. He grunted when she kicked his leg.
"This is going to be so much fun!" Kate said.
Dean shook his head. "It is a real mission. Don't let dad hear you calling it fun."
Kate frowned. "None of your hunts or missions are fun? Blowing stuff up isn't fun?"
"I cannot confirm or deny that."
Taylor scarfed down breakfast and got his stuff together. "I'm ready."
John walked back into the house as he said that. "Good. We need to get moving."
Kate peeked over the railing. "For the record, I'm ready."
Dean cleared his throat loudly. "Charlie is the only one not ready."
Charlie opened the bedroom door. "Excuse me. I just woke up."
Dean smiled. "You've got a few minutes."
That was enough for Charlie. She never took very long to get ready but her entire body protested having to leave the comfortable mat. She needed an hour to wake up and lay in bed. She needed time to read and for her brain to wake up. Nope, Winchesters hopped out of bed like it was on fire.
Taylor approached Kate. "Do you want first pick on who you ride with?"
Kate scoffed. "Is that even a question?"
Taylor snorted. "Our usual then." He put his bag in John's truck and waited for John to walk over. He liked riding with Dean too but he was soaking up the time he had before John went on another hunt. Plus, he could keep John in a good mood. Kate seemed to be handling it all pretty well but Taylor knew her rope was fraying. He didn't know what she would do but a happy John would benefit everyone.
Charlie fell into the backseat of the impala and rested her head on her pillow. She pulled her blanket over her head and got comfortable.
"I guess you're riding shotgun," Dean said to Kate.
Kate looked over the seat. "Do you want anything when we stop?"
Charlie mumbled. "No talk. Only sleep."
Kate turned back around and buckled her seatbelt. "Maybe on the way back, we can go to a cool restaurant. You haven't taken me anywhere in a while."
"I haven't had the chance," Dean said.
"You were supposed to pay attention to me and take me places. Maybe if you had done that, I wouldn't have cut my hand for the freak." Kate said with a smirk.
"Oh hell. You would have done that no matter what. I did pay attention to you. I ought to turn around and leave you at Bobby's house." Dean said.
Kate shrugged. "I'll just teleport to the gala."
Dean flicked her. "Do you need to ride with dad?"
Kate sat back and crossed her arms. "Taylor would be heartbroken if I made him switch."
Dean turned the radio on. "I'm cooler anyway."
(Sam and Jess)
Jess nursed the kitten to excellent health. He was fat and playful.
Sam thought Milo looked like a marshmallow with legs.
Jess held Milo in her arms and sat beside Sam on the couch. "How did we ever survive without him?"
"I thought we were doing good," Sam said.
Jess gave him a playful pout. "You'll hurt his feelings."
Sam reached over to scratch Milo's chin. "You seem a lot happier." She really did. She got her spark back.
"I'm happy with you. A cute kitten is just an added bonus." She leaned her head against him. "You won't let me get a baby so a kitten will do."
Sam laughed and kissed her forehead. "You are still a baby."
Jess rolled her eyes. "Maybe not now. One day though."
"Get a baby? Are we going to steal one or is there a store?" Sam asked, jokingly.
"If things are going to work the way I plan, we will make a few and get a few," Jess said.
Sam blanched,. "What does that mean?"
Jess grinned. "We are going to have a dozen."
Sam furrowed his eyebrows. "That seems excessive."
"No. We will have 12 and name them alphabetically." Jess said with a smile.
Sam leaned his head back on the couch. "You've given this a lot of thought."
"Yep. Now we just have to decide what the names will be." She held up Milo. "We have M covered for the 13th."
Sam scratched his forehead. "I figured you'd go for all one letter."
Jess shrugged. "J for girls, S for boys."
"I don't know many S names," Sam said.
"Silas, Sawyer... Sam...son." Jess said, letting her eyes drift.
"We could stick to two kids and not have to worry about names," Sam said with a chuckle.
"Two is boring," Jess said. "I'm kidding but when we have kids, do you want them to be named after family members?"
Sam sat forward. "I don't know."
"I don't want them to be named after my family. I know you don't know many of your outside family but what about Dean and your dad?"
Sam had never thought about it. "Do we really want another Dean Winchester running around? Wouldn't that get confusing when you yell at him? Dean still acts like a kid sometimes."
"Hmm, Asher John. We could call him AJ. Maybe Elias Dean. We can call him Eli." Jess said.
Sam happened to really like those names. "What happens with the third one?"
"Bobby?" Jess asked.
"I can't imagine a newborn named Bobby. I think that Bobby's are born as middle-aged men." Sam said.
"Mary?" Jess asked. "Kate?"
"At some point that would get confusing," Sam said. He took Milo from Jess and scratched beside his ears. "Just Milo for now."
(Later)
John stopped his truck a block away from the hospital. They had blueprints but needed to get a feel for the place before the gala. It did not escape his attention that he had three minors with him. He made notes and drove to a motel to discuss the plan with Dean and the kids.
Charlie was fidgety. She couldn't sit still. Her mind was going too fast. She was the odd one out.
"Charlie." John said, firmly.
Charlie's eyes flew open. "Huh? I mean... yes?"
"I have been talking. Have you heard anything I said?" John asked.
Charlie's face turned red. "Uhhh, I don't know."
John sighed heavily. "We are going to enter the building at different times so that we do not arrive as a group. We will be able to communicate. First, we will see how things are guarded. Once we have a good feel for the place, you will be given instructions."
Charlie nodded. "Good plan."
"If you are at risk of blowing your cover because you are too antsy to control yourself, Kate will compel you." John said.
Charlie shifted. "I can pull myself together."
"If you can't, this is what will happen. She will only tell you to calm down. We cannot go into this crossing our fingers that no one has a panic attack." John said.
Charlie shrunk.
"You could have worded that differently." Kate said with a scoff.
"This isn't' teatime. We are going to go to this gala to steal information that is dangerous to have. I'm not going to sugar coat things to avoid hurting feelings. Now, Katelyn, do you have anything else you want to say?" John asked, placing his palms on the small table.
Kate shook her head. "No, sir."
"I will be back. Take the next two hours to get ready." John said.
Dean turned to the kids once John was gone. "Don't poke the bear. That is all I ask. What do you do? You poke him."
Charlie blinked rapidly. "Did I?"
"You could pay a little more attention." Dean said.
"I'm new to all of this." Charlie defended herself.
"You are. Going into situations with dad can be tense. He has a policy of not letting people get themselves killed on his watch. So, he expects you to listen and follow orders without thinking about it." Dean explained.
"I was kind of worried about being arrested." Charlie said.
"We can bail you out of jail. Always assume things are more dangerous than they seem." Dean said.
Charlie was a little shaken but let it go. She liked being alive and thought it was great that John preferred her that way as well. Not dying was an excellent goal.
Kate and Charlie went to the bathroom to get ready. Neither of the guys really needed to do much more than get dressed.
Charlie pinned half of her hair back and let the bottom hang around her shoulders. Kate braided two strands for her and tucked them into the band. Braids just made things a bit fancier.
Kate hated her curls at times. They were hard to tame. She let Charlie help with her hair, so she didn't get frustrated. She messaged Hannah and told her that they were about to go to the gala. Hannah knew what they were doing, and Kate considered the updates to be proof of life. She messaged back and forth with Hannah and joked about being able to get back to research since they'd have more information. She felt like Hannah's response was odd and asked her what was wrong.
Taylor felt a surge of power and sat up quickly from his spot on the bed.
Dean whipped his head around. "What?"
Kate flung the bathroom door open and stomped into the room. "He threatened Hannah!"
Dean blinked. "Dad?"
"Don't play stupid. You knew." Kate said.
"I know he talked to her and her parents." Dean said.
Kate's eyes flashed blue.
"Kate, you need to chill." Dean said. He grabbed both of her arms. "Now is not the time to hulk out."
Kate swallowed her anger. She spun around. "Charlie, did he threaten you too?"
Charlie accidently broke the hairband in her hand from how tightly she was twisting it. "Threaten? No."
"Were you told not to help me?" Kate asked.
Charlie grimaced. "He knew you would be upset. I was just told that you may try to go off the deep end and I shouldn't encourage you."
Taylor cleared his throat. "That was when you were out of control and on fire."
Kate sat down on the bed. She was angry again. How dare he. Who all did he talk to? He acted like she was a drug addict, and he was telling everyone not to give her money for drugs.
Dean crouched down and looked into Kate's eyes. "Gala.. break into file room... important information. Dad telling Hannah not to conspire with you is small. Gala big."
Kate frowned. "I'm not going to be happy about it."
Charlie tapped Kate gently. "I can finish your hair."
Taylor chewed his cheek. "20 dollars says they start world war three."
Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. "Placing a bet makes you an accomplice."
Taylor snorted. "How is that?"
Dean shrugged. "I don't know. If she pisses him off, it will end up on my plate since I'm the only other adult here. However, I can throw you under the bus as well, his attention will be taken off of me."
Taylor raised an eyebrow. "Why not get his attention on someone neutral that he can't touch?"
Dean nodded. "Charlie, if things go south, we are blaming it on you. You are the only safe party, and we need a backup plan."
Charlie's mouth dropped open as she stepped out of the bathroom. "What?"
Dean crossed his arms. "Sorry, we've already made our decision."
Charlie was quiet for a moment. "Hmm, no. I am good friends with Rod. I can just let him know that you guys are being jerks. He will tell Marie. Then you won't get anymore food."
Dean let his arms drop. "Damn, she's good. I guess that puts the blame back on you, kid."
Taylor groaned. "I don't want to be caught in the crossfire."
Dean smacked his chest. "You can handle it."
Taylor rubbed where he smacked. "Does that mean you can't?"
Dean smirked. "No that means that I have put in a lot of time and effort into caring for you and if all else fails, this is how you will repay me."
"So, I owe you my life?" Taylor asked.
Dean nodded. "Damn straight."
(At the gala)
Charlie wiggled her ears. The earpiece was small, but she felt like it was noticeable. It would make sense to have earpieces that looked like simple hearing aids. Those would blend in because they didn't look like they were trying not to be noticeable. She had hair to hide it. Dean didn't. Dean didn't seem like it bothered him. Would security really look at people's ears?
John saw Charlie looking around like she was nervous. He sighed. She looked younger than she was so the shifty gaze and hand wringing simply looked like she was overwhelmed by the lights and crowd. He tilted his head slightly. Was she really 17? Could she be younger? He blinked slowly when her eyes met his.
Charlie stopped fidgeting and let her hands drop. The look from John reminded her to play it cool but she didn't feel like it was a glare.
Kate and Taylor were able to talk in their heads. That was part of the reason that they were needed.
Dean and John had cased places dozens of times. They had a system. Dean surveyed one side of the room, making mental notes as he went. John would do the same.
That part of the hospital had been added on. It was used for events and conferences so it was a large open area with high ceilings. The main doors joined a glass wall that allowed natural light to enter. There were two staircases on either side that lead to a walkway that connected to the left wing of the hospital. Security didn't have the stairs blocked off. There were bathrooms in the middle. However the doors to the breeze way were blocked. There would be no way to make it through those doors and across the bridge without someone seeing. There were several emergency exits that would work for the escape but didn't do much to get them to the records room.
Dean saw a service entrance. That would be where they needed to go. It was well guarded. That meant it was important. Judging by the layout, there was likely a hidden set of stairs that would allow them to access the floor with the electrical room, offices and records room.
John noted another door. It seemingly lead to the same area but it was right below the administrative offices. Kate could compel a guard to move but another would see the interaction. He wasn't concerned yet.
Dean went up one staircase as Taylor went up the other. They strategically looked for alternative ways into the wing that they needed to be in. If they went in as though they were a patient, there were several doors that required key cards to make it anywhere near the area that was just on the other side of the wall to where they were.
The two door options also carried a risk of setting off alarms. All hospitals had security but that one seemed to go overboard.
Charlie started shifting from foot to foot to the beat of a song in her head. She was trying to calm herself down but it wasn't working. She couldn't grab one of the others because they weren't supposed to look like they were together. She made eye contact with a security officer and held her breath as he approached.
Dean saw it happening and skipped down the stairs. "There you are, you're so short that I lost you for a bit."
The guard stopped approaching and went back to his post. He just saw a kid without an adult. She looked scared but relaxed when Dean said something.
Dean turned his back to the guards. "Could you look more obvious?"
Charlie frowned.
Dean tilted her chin up. "You're fine. I'm giving you a hard time."
Kate couldn't get away from John. She wasn't really trying to but it was clear that he didn't trust her. She gritted her teeth. "I'm going to find Charlie."
John shook his head. "You can't. Too much attention."
Kate rolled her eyes. She turned her back to him and took a deep breath. They were getting nowhere. She spun back around. "I know about Hannah."
John leveled her with a glare. "Not now."
Kate crossed her arms. "It wasn't just her. It is okay if you go behind my back but god forbid I have a thought that you don't pre approve."
John's jaw twitched. He did not have time or patience to talk about any of that. She would have to save her tantrum for another day.
Kate put a bit of distance between them and surveyed the crowd for the others. She saw that Charlie was with Dean and Taylor was on the upper level. She slowly turned around and locked eyes with John.
John gave her a subtle headshake.
Kate rolled her eyes dramatically. "You are controlling."
John jerked his head back. "Excuse me, young lady."
"You're controlling. All you care about is that people follow your orders. Newsflash, I'm not in the military." Kate said, loudly.
John counted to ten in his head. People were starting to look. He looked into Kate's eyes and took a step toward her. "You will drop it. Now."
Kate also noticed that people were looking. She started to walk away and just knew he was following her.
"Get over here, now." John hissed.
Kate spun around quickly and stomped her foot. "How about you go fuck yourself!"
John saw red and closed the gap between them, grabbing her arm in a vice like grip.
Kate couldn't keep up with his long strides and gave the security guard a pleading look as John barreled through them and set the alarm off by swinging the door open.
"Sir, you can't go through here." One of the guards tried.
The look on John's face put the fear of god into both guards. He ignored the alarm and the guard trying to explain that the area was restricted.
Dean heard Kate yell and nearly passed out. He whipped his head around fast enough to crack his neck and his mouth went dry. The guards by the second door rushed over to assist with the breech and left the door unguarded for a few seconds. The alarm was already blaring so Dean grabbed Charlie and yanked her through the door. He had to act fast. He got them out of sight and looked down the hallway. It was empty and they were out of view of the cameras. "Let's mission impossible this."
Charlie had absolutely no idea what was happening. She just slid around and tried to keep her balance as Dean dragged her down the corridor. Maybe that was for the best.
John opened the door to the break room and turned to face the guard. "I will be taking a minute to talk to my daughter. Alone."
The guard backed away. "You shouldn't be back here."
John just stared at him until he took a few steps back and posted up a few doors down from the breakroom.
The alarms stopped going off and officers returned to their stations. As far as they knew, it was simply a very angry dad dealing with his delinquent kid.
Kate squeaked as John bent to be face to face with her. She wasn't sure if she had ever seen him that mad. "Dad."
John growled and grabbed her arm, walking over to one of the couches.
Kate panicked. "Dad. Dad. Dad. Daddy!"
John sat down and looked at her.
Kate gave him a sheepish grin. "Distraction. It was a distraction."
John's nose flared.
Kate whimpered. "Hold on." She pushed into Taylor's head. For the love of god please tell me they made it through the door.
Taylor heard Kate's voice and rubbed his face. They made it through. No one saw them.
Kate gave John another sheepish grin. "Charlie and Dean made it through."
John was still twitchy. He just stared at her.
Kate's voice was small. "You flinging the door open set off the alarm. The guards moved. The alarm doesn't double go off from them opening the other door."
John narrowed his eyes. "You still think that was an acceptable distraction."
Kate bounced on her toes. "We are at a hospital. Faking a medical emergency wouldn't work. No one was going to stop you when your face looks like that." She subtly motioned to the look on his face.
John let out a long breath. "There is a guard out there. I should tan your hide anyway."
Kate patted his hand. "You could go the new age parenting route and talk me through this difficult time in my life."
John snorted. "If another distraction is needed, your ass is on the line."
Kate tentatively sat down beside him.
"Distraction or not, you meant every word of that." John said.
Kate felt a tear forming in her eye. "I was really angry about Hannah."
John shifted. "Get it out now. If you ever, I mean ever tell me to go fuck myself again, you will not have hide left to tan."
Kate bit her lip. "Yes, sir."
Taylor had a bird's eye view and was able to update Dean through his ear piece and Kate by pushing into her head. The guards were back to their places and didn't seem agitated.
Dean found the records room and let go of Charlie. "Hurry, do your thing."
Charlie stammered. "Wha-what?"
Dean very gently shook her. "Do your thing so Kate's sacrifice isn't wasted."
Charlie blinked a few times and jumped into action. She gave Dean instructions and found a computer to acquire records from.
Dean was on high alert but left Charlie to get the paper files. His heart was in his throat. What if John didn't realize it was a distraction? What if it wasn't a distraction? He adored Kate but she was bat shit crazy. He got what he needed and shoved the files under his shirt.
Charlie shook as the files downloaded onto the thumb drive. She was almost in tears when Dean's hand found her shoulder. She turned to him and hugged him without thinking, letting a few tears fall.
"Almost done. The hard part is over." Dean said. He gently cupped the back of Charlie's head and took a deep breath.
The computer beeped, signaling the end of the download. Charlie ejected the thumb drive and erased all proof that they were there. They still needed to get out without being seen.
Dean spoke quietly to a receiver attached to his shirt. "Get us out of here, sparky."
Taylor rolled his eyes. It was a shame that he swore he was done shocking Dean. He could have zapped him for that lovely nickname.
Kate got a message from Taylor and swallowed hard. She and John had taken the time to have a heart to heart. It was heavy. "We have to leave. I don't suppose you'd have an idea as to how to set off the alarm again."
John stood up. He took her arm, although not as firmly as before.
The guard jumped when the door opened. HIs eyes were wide. He felt awkward.
"We are leaving." John said.
The guard pointed the way to the door.
John shook his head. "Respectfully, I'd prefer not to go back through there."
The guard understood. He let them out one of the emergency doors, setting off an alarm briefly but let the other guards know what was going on.
Dean got Charlie out through another door before she could comprehend what was going on.
Charlie saw the stars of the night sky and welcomed the sight. Freedom.
Taylor waited a few minutes and casually walked out.
Back at the motel, Charlie fell onto one of the beds, relieved that she no longer needed to be calm.
Dean shut the door behind them. He got a good look at Kate. "Are you okay?"
Kate blinked. "Yeah, why?"
John reopened the door a moment later with Taylor behind him. "Let me see those files."
Dean looked from Kate to John and back again.
"Files, Dean." John said.
Dean got the files for John and handed them over. He still wasn't sure what happened between John and Kate.
John flipped through the files before sitting down at the table. "It would be best if we cleared out and looked at these once we get back to Bobby's house."
Dean needed to know. "So, uh, what the hell, Kate?"
"Huh?"
"The entire building heard that." Dean said.
Kate blushed. "Oh. Yeah, it was a distraction."
Dean scoffed. "That was one hell of a distraction."
John agreed with that.
"You knew it was a distraction, right?" Dean asked.
"Not at first." John admitted.
Dean eyed Kate. "You know what, you should still whip her. That was taking unnecessary risks."
Kate shoved him. "No, it wasn't."
"That was the same level of danger as sticking your hand in the cage." Dean teased.
John smirked. "We had a nice talk. She did mention that it was you that told her to do it."
Dean's eyes widened. "I did not."
"You bet me." Kate said. "So, yeah you did."
Dean held his hands up in defense. "That is out of context."
Taylor sat down beside Charlie. "Dad, maybe you're off your game. That was an obvious distraction, and you should have known from the get-go."
John raised both eyebrows.
Taylor grabbed Charlie to put her between himself and John. "Charlie can testify that Dean told me to use myself as a diversion if things went south and the heat needed to be taken off of him."
Dean threw his hands up. "Narcs."
John reached around Charlie to smack Taylor's head and did the same to Dean's head. "Does anyone else want to add anything?" He got a lot of head shaking and snorted. "Let it be known, as soon as we set foot out that door, your free passes expire, and my patience will run out."
Kate raised her hand. "If Dean carries me, I will not be setting foot out the door. Would that mean my pass would not expire?"
John pinched the bridge of his nose. "Katelyn."
Kate gave him a sheepish grin.
Dean shook his head. "You are riding back with him."
"No! He will throw me in a river." Kate said.
Charlie yawned.
John looked at her. "You did well, Charlie."
Charlie smiled. "Thanks."
That was all that John said, eliciting responses from the other three.
"I did well. I didn't even cause a scene." Taylor said.
"I literally made it possible for her to get into the file room." Kate said.
"You don't get praise because you are being a pain in the ass." John said.
Dean grabbed his stuff. "Maybe we can stop at burger king on the way home and get you a crown."
Charlie grinned. "I'd wear it."
Taylor still rode with John. The girls rode with Dean. Dean waited until Kate got into the car. "Are you insane?"
Kate chewed her thumb nail. "We needed a distraction."
"You yelled at him, told him to go fuck himself, in front of a crowd. Distraction or not, you are lucky he didn't kick your ass." Dean said.
Kate groaned. "We had a heart to heart."
"What does that mean?"
"I got him to understand that it was a distraction and then we talked. I mean, I'm on thin ice." Kate said.
"You live on thin ice." Dean said.
"You're just mad you can't show any form of disrespect without catching a smack to the head." Kate said with a smirk.
"Charlie, if I wind up strangling her, just look away."
Charlie pulled her blanket up to her chin. "I'm just going to nap."
Kate took some time to explain things to Dean. John had been angry. She really was lucky to have escaped that in one piece. She opened up and talked to him and he seemed receptive. Had it been any other situation or any other sequence of events, her ass would have been grass.
Dean was glad that John had approached it in a calm manner. They needed the opportunity to talk and get back on the same page. He stopped at a redlight and studied Kate's face for a moment. "I don't know how you do it."
"I wing it and hope for the best." Kate said. She shifted. "What if you guys did sell your souls and this is hell and I'm a little demon flitting around making your lives difficult?"
Dean let out a slow breath. "Boy would that explain things."
Kate frowned. "You were supposed to disagree with me."
Dean rolled his eyes. "This isn't hell. You aren't a demon. You are just Kate. You make life interesting."
"I won our bet. What is my prize?" Kate asked.
Dean looked back to the rode. "Your prize was him not ending you on the spot."
Kate scrunched her nose. "The bet was between us. "
"How about you pick the restaurant and I pay for the food?"
"Can I get a drink?" Kate asked with a smirk.
"A soda with a bendy straw." Dean said, reaching over to flick her ear. He looked into the backseat. Poor Charlie was out cold. The ordeal probably wore her out.
Kate looked back too. "She really did do a good job."
Dean's heart sunk. "Let's hope it was worth it."
(John and Taylor)
"Did you actually let Kate off with a warning?" Taylor asked.
John furrowed his eyebrows. "Yes. There is more to it than that. I don't feel the need to discuss details with you."
Taylor shrunk slightly.
John sighed. "I suppose I'm more reasonable now than I was a few years ago." He motioned for Taylor to sit up straight.
"That is all that I meant." Taylor said.
"What do you have going on this week?"
"Uh, a game. Practice too." Taylor said. "You know, my usual."
"I need you to keep an eye on Kate. Just so we know if she is about to snap." John said.
"I'll let you know. She is trying really hard right now." Taylor said.
"That is why I just talked to her about the distraction that she chose. I'm not cruel." John said. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. "Take a look at those files."
Taylor slowly grabbed the top file and opened it. "What am I looking for?"
"Anything that could set her off." John said.
Taylor sighed. "It's a good thing we have a long drive."
(Back at the hospital)
The gala was nearing its end and the two security guards in charge of looking at the cameras were a little suspicious. There were odd glitches at just the right times, and they couldn't figure out why. One pointed to the screen. "Right here, they are there and then they aren't."
The monitor panned to Taylor looking down at the crowd. His posture was odd. Could he have been signaling someone? One guard zoomed in on Taylor's face to take a photo, but all of the screens went black, glitched and a fuzzy title came into view. Music, that could only be described as being from a 70s style porn video filled the security room.
The guards try to fix the monitors, but they couldn't. The screens glitched again and they could see a bed with two women on it. A man was sitting between the women. He had a mustache, and his hair was slicked back.
The man spoke. "Now what do we have here? Two gentlemen like yourself, watching something like this during work hours."
The guards traded looks of horror and confusion.
The man walked toward the camera and tapped on the screen. "Yes, you. Dumb and dumber. You've been looking at something you shouldn't. We can't have that." He snapped his fingers and the music faded out as the screens returned to their normal feed, free of the saved videos proving that any of John's team had been there.
Gabriel liked to add in a bit of flare and fun when he took the time to step in. That was his signature. He stood at the edge of the office with a sucker in his mouth. He was invisible to the terrified guards. He considered burning the guards' eyes out but that was too obvious. He removed the sucker from his mouth and snapped his fingers again, ridding them of everything but their underwear. He smirked, that was more like it. A light breeze filled the office, chilling the disrobed guards, and then Gabriel was gone.
