There was always something off about her, it's just that no one knew what it was. something strange, something amiss. almost as if she was giving off bad vibes, no, not vibes, the right word would be aura. it was almost as if being next to her or in her presence made you feel a weird ill.
It didn't help that her eyes shot daggers through your heart if she made direct eye contact with you. her touch was as cold as steel. And she wasn't opposed to breaking rules here and there from time to time. And not just, oh, sure why not, you can stay a few extra minutes to get one of the animatronics autographs, no. common-sense safety rules like, don't serve mouldy food. she had done this quite often during changeover periods.
Cooper was aware of this. he had been told it by the man, the myth, the legend, Freddy Fazbear himself whilst he was in orientation and training. That something wasn't right with the current security guard, named Vanessa. Freddy could see it. Glamrock Chica could see it. Roxanne Wolf could see it. Montgomery gator could see it. But no one dared speak a word about it. Despite betting the night guard, she was almost taboo.
Vanessa was not being let go, rather being demoted to day shift, because of her extreme negligence. Night shift was a sought after position Vanessa was pissed about losing.
It was sought after because almost nothing happed during that time, and the animatronics were allowed to free roam for a couple of hours before returning to their green rooms in Rockstar Row, meaning you could have talks and relax with your favourite robotic entertainers without the noise or buzz of the guests. The night guards were also allowed free roam of the place. Meaning if they felt like fazerblast, they'd go to fazerblast etc. Not to mention the better pay.
Vanessa was a good guard. Good at her job. But not too friendly. the animatronics were excited to get a new guard, especially Roxy. Roxy was tormented and almost bullied by Vanessa.
Roxy's narcissistic personality began to frustrate Vanessa to the point of constantly shouting at Roxy, and telling her to shut up, keep it to yourself etc. She also avoided Roxy as often as possible, which made the slick, silver wolf have an even worse ego than she already did.
Only Freddy had known of Vanessa's demotion and Cooper's promotion but he promised to tell nothing but the fact it was happening to the others.
Cooper was a quiet man, but capable of speaking up and being a leader if it was needed. Freddy liked that about him. Cooper was also humble, kind and just overall a fun person to be around, not to mention quite charming.
Cooper walked down into the main atrium from an office he was sitting in and doing paperwork in. He had plans to meet up with Freddy and the gang and get to know them.
During dayshifts Cooper was quiet. often times just finishing some paperwork and checking on the cameras to make sure the pizza Plex was running smoothly. on that particular Thursday afternoon, it wasn't.
Freddy had collapsed onto the ground during their second and last performance of the day. Cooper had seen it on the cams and had immediately rushed down to the main atrium, through the crowds of people standing, watching, gasping, crying, and had made it to the stage when he pushed the Freddy shaped head button to send the band down to parts and service.
He then got off the falling platform and told the large, angry crowd that Freddy had had an unfortunate malfunction and that the show would have to cancel early. he took full responsibility for all the angry parents' refunds and the free Freddy plushies the kids received that day.
After all was said and done, he had told Vanessa about the accident during the changeover period and had gone to parts and service to make sure Freddy was OK.
Cooper and Freddy ended up talking for a while and somewhere along their conversation the topic that the current night guard was getting replaced came up.
"Well, who is going to replace her?"
Cooper replied with a hesitant, "Me."
Freddy was shocked. he had known Vanessa and some of the other night crew quite well since the place was quiet, and his band members often became boring to talk to, he had expected one of them to be the new officer.
Freddy was a little embarrassed because he had always made an effort to talk to everyone and everyone he could, but during the day there were so many kids around all wanting his signatures and to take photos that he almost forgot the day guard even existed. It didn't help Cooper was almost always in his office.
Freddy was excited because this was a new beginning, with a new guard. during their conversation, Freddy had figured out that the man seemed to be nice enough and cared about him. That could not be said for Vanessa.
Cooper had almost reached Rockstar row when Freddy greeted him.
"Hello there new night guard!" he exclaimed happily.
"Hi Freddy, how are you doing? that crash looked like it hurt." Cooper replied.
"Oh. I am feeling much better, thank you for asking." Freddy kindly stated back.
"Good. what was wrong with you?" Cooper said.
"The technicians found slight amounts of malware in my programming. they were concerned at first but realised it was just a simple few lines if vicious code, that could easily be removed. their only concerns now are who did it, and how." Freddy said.
"Huh. OK, well I'm glad you're feeling better, mate."
"Thank you for your concern. Now, where was I? Oh yes, The new night guard!" he exclaimed cheerfully.
"Hehe." Cooper chuckled.
"What would you like to do? Freddy asked. "I could give you a tour of the pizza Plex if you wish."
"Did you forget I worked dayshifts here?" Cooper jokingly said.
"Oh, I apologise. I did forget." Freddy replied guiltily.
"You're all right mate. I never was the loud type." Cooper replied. "And, I'd like to hang out with you and your mates and get to know you guys a little better. I feel like I'm talking to a stranger right now. I don't want that."
Freddy, being slightly insulted Cooper had just called him a stranger replied with, "OK. If I were in your shoes I would want to talk with us as well."
With that, Freddy and Cooper had found a bench to sit on and began discussing various topics such as Vannessa, the others and what he can expect from them and several other important things such as favourite pizza toppings and ice cream flavours.
"Monty can be quite aggressive at times and has a short fuse. I recommend not angering him, but if you do, just relax, and let him have his way. if I were you I'd rather lose a game of golf against him rather than be missing parts of my limbs or face." Freddy warned.
"Uh huh. really helping my nerves here Freddy." Cooper said.
"But that is only when he is angry. when he is not he is a pleasure to talk to. trust me." Freddy stated.
"Next we have Roxanne wolf. she is the 2nd favourite here at the pizza plex for various reasons. however, that has not seemed to boost her ego. She unfortunately is the least confident out of all of us, and deep down inside is a mess. Her personality can be narcissistic at times but please, try and see the good in her words. She will likely be very nervous with a new security guard around, as the last one did not treat her very well. So I recommend being blunt and gentle with her. She will be grateful if she can trust you on just your first impressions alone. It is also worth noting that she may be overconfident when meeting you, that is her narcissism talking, not her. if she is, please tolerate it. She will likely look back on your interactions and become embarrassed. if you tolerate it she will like you more."
"Wow, that's unfortunate. But she is my favourite so it will always be a pleasure to talk to her." Cooper replied, "And being gentle is natural to me."
"That is good that she is your favourite. make sure to tell her that if it comes up in conversation between you two." Freddy said. "she will appreciate it, I can assure you."
"Lastly we have Chica. She is very kind-hearted and very well respected but has a strange habit of eating garbage from the nearby bins. if you catch her, I recommend ignoring it for the first time. She will likely not feel comfortable around you if you directly call her out on it as your first impression. come see me in my green room if this happens. I will stop her and from there you can introduce yourself." Freddy explained.
"Well, I hope she doesn't. it would be awkward for both of us." Freddy nodded in approval.
"Oh, by the way, which activity is your favourite Cooper? I think mine is fairly obvious." Freddy asked.
"Not sure," replied Cooper. "Day shift employees aren't allowed in the attractions. even on break. something about 'unprofessionalism', which was rich coming from Fazbear entertainment. but if I had to guess it would be... Ummm... probably gator golf. Sorry Freddy, I just enjoy the theme and the laid back atmosphere it gives off. not to mention mini golf is fun." Cooper replied.
"I see. I respect your choice. Fazerblast isn't for everyone and I am aware of that."
Freddy was beginning to enjoy Cooper's company and was becoming quite fond of him.
