Taylor's game was close but his team won by a field goal. Taylor was happy. He had to rely on his teammates to do their part and it made him feel like everything was fair. No matter how well he threw, someone had to be able to catch. His senses were heightened so he was able to dodge tackles more easily. He did get hit pretty hard once and had to shoot a thought to Kate to keep her from running down to rough the guy up. Okay, maybe she had more control than that but the crystal clear 'that son of a bitch' that filled his head before he hit the ground made him think to tell her to cool it.

The tackle that about caused Kate to lose it was a blindsided tackle. The guy was huge. Had Taylor not been who he was, he probably would have been pretty rattled. Kate grabbed Dean when it happened and because he didn't heal, he had indents from Kate's nails down his arm.

After the game, Hailey congratulated Taylor but told him she wasn't allowed to stick around. She had gotten grounded but was still allowed to take part in her activities that were related to school.

John got his crew rounded up and was about to go back to the car when the coach asked for his opinion. "Dean, take them home. I'll be home in a bit."

Dean clapped Taylor on the back a little harder than he needed to.

Taylor hissed and shook his hand off. "Jerk."

Dean grinned and shook his head. "Now don't go being a baby about that. You jumped up after that tackle."

Kate crossed her arms. "You mean the cheap shot that could have killed him."

"That is what the pads and helmet are for." Taylor said. "It wasn't that bad."

"You could hear it." Kate said.

Taylor shrugged. "Good thing I heal."

John followed the coach to his office and asked what he needed.

"You may not know what I'll be asking you about." The coach said. "Have a seat." He offered John some water. "I don't know the proper way to phrase this but I'd say Taylor is not your average human."

John tensed.

The coach saw the set of his jaw. "I'm not sharing that with anyone else. My brother had something weird happen and we all thought he had lost his mind. Maybe you'd listen and give your two cents."

John cracked open the cold water bottle and drank from it. "What happened and why do you think I'd have something to say?"

The coach took his cap off and placed it on his desk. "I'm grasping at straws but I just have a feeling you might. See, my brother is a good man. He has a wife and three kids. They are getting to be teenagers by now. A few years back, he started acting strange. He was accused of some stuff that just didn't seem like something that he'd do. Some time went by and he was having these nightmares. He swore he was possessed by something evil for a bit. Then he said the nightmares were him remembering what this evil thing made him do. The doctors say he is schizophrenic."

John listened intently. "And you think I'm a doctor?"

The coach rocked in his chair. "I think you know a little bit about a lot."

"If I have a theory, am I going to wind up in the psych hospital too?" John asked.

The coach stopped rocking. "No."

John leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. "I think he was telling the truth."

"You think he was possessed?"

"It happens." John said. "I've seen it happen to a few people. Not all of them remember but I'd say, if they did, it would make them feel crazy."

The coach started rocking again. "So if this did happen to him, how do I go about fixing it?"

John didn't want to give him too much information. "I could visit him."

The coach gave him a name and floor number. "Could you get him back home to his family?"

"I can't make a promise like that." John said. He stood up. "I can ask some questions."

Taylor was a little nervous waiting for John to get home. Was the coach upset about him confronting Josh? Did he mess something up?

John returned and told them what the coach asked right away. He figured that Taylor assumed that he was the topic of conversation. He did let Taylor think the conversation was about Josh, just long enough to make him fret.

Dean approved of this form of torture.

Taylor's face returned to its natural color when John explained that they had talked about the coach's brother. "So he didn't say anything about me?"

John studied him. "Are you worried about something?"

Taylor stammered. "N-no sir."

John could see the wheels turning in Dean's head and snorted. "I'll make a trip up there to visit his brother. If he was possessed, I don't know what I'd do to help him."

"You could show him the stamps or encourage him to get a tattoo. He is likely scared that the demon will come back." Kate said.

John didn't know why he didn't consider that. Kate was better at knowing how to comfort people. One side of her was impulsive but she was mostly a gentle, caring person. She was empathetic. "I'll take some."

Kate smiled slightly. He was actually taking her advice.

(Saturday)

While John was gone to the hospital, Kate ran errands with Dean. She had a pit growing and needed a good distraction. When did she not?

Dean stopped before going into the post office. "What are you not saying?"

Kate sighed. "Well, what are you not saying?"

"Nope, I asked you first." Dean said, turning the car off.

"I don't know. I am stuck in limbo, just waiting." Kate said. "It sucks. I need progress. I need something to do."

"Art." Dean reminded her.

Kate groaned. "I guess."

"You've got to make that time thing." Dean said. "It sounds cool."

Kate smiled. "It will be cool. I need string."

Dean grabbed a few packages from the post office and brought them back to the car. He asked Kate what store to go to and drove her to the hobby store to get supplies for her projects. He furrowed his eyebrows when he looked into the small basket to view what she had picked out. He didn't know how she was going to turn it into art but he'd just let her do her thing.

Back at the house, Taylor helped Bobby clean up the shop again. Maybe he was in limbo too. Hailey didn't have her phone outside of practice. He couldn't spend the time talking to her. What did he do to pass the time before? He played video games with Nate. They were friends again but John didn't want Taylor going over to Nate's house. That was understandable. Could he get a part time job? Probably not legally.

Bobby gave Taylor a list of things to do and returned to the house to help Karen. Somehow, he had forgotten the years that she had been gone. It felt so right having her back. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder. "That smells good."

Karen leaned her head to the side. "Peach cobbler."

Bobby's stomach growled. "What is the occasion?"

"Do I need an occasion?" Karen asked with a chuckle.

"No." Bobby said. He let go of her and stepped back. "You wanted to travel, didn't you?"

Karen wiped her hands on a kitchen towel. "I did but that is okay."

"No, if I remember, you wanted to go to the coast." Bobby said.

Karen had a whole list of places she had wanted to see. They all seemed silly now. "I've never been to a warm beach."

Bobby wasn't much for travel but he had, admittedly, become a hermit after Karen died. He could hardly remember who he was before. "Let's go. The boys can keep the scrap yard running while we are gone."

Karen's eyes twinkled. "Are you sure?"

"You just tell me where and I'll get us there." Bobby said.

Kate and Dean got back to the house and started to unload the car.

Dean shut his door and leaned back against it to answer his phone.

Kate pulled the stack of packages from the backseat and looked at the labels. One was from Sam. She sat the others down on the ground and started to open the small box. She broke the seal and noted that there was a string to break another seal. She tilted the box to get a better grip on the string and pulled. Something in the box clicked and something blew out of the box like a cloud of smoke. She dropped the box and started slowly backing away, unable to breathe from sheer shock.

Dean looked down at the ground and followed the length of his body to his chest and out to his arm. "What the hell?" He growled.

Kate covered her mouth and stared at him.

Dean spun around and looked at the car. "Katelyn!"

Kate jumped. "I didn't know!"

"Why did you open that?" Dean demanded.

"It said open outside!" Kate defended herself.

Dean growled again and tried to dust himself off. He spun back around to look at her. "It said open outside? Why would you open something that says to open outside!"

Kate was still in shock. "It was from Sam."

John whistled to get Dean's attention. "What is going on?"

Dean looked back down at his body and then to the car. "She opened a box of glitter and it is everywhere. It is on me. It is on… Dammit Katelyn. That could have been anthrax!"

Kate bounced on her toes. "Dean, if it was anthrax it wouldn't say to open outside."

Dean narrowed his eyes. "Excuse me, dad. I'm going to call Sam and ask why the hell he sent a damn glitter bomb."

Kate stayed out of Dean's reach. She wanted to laugh but he was prickly.

Taylor, having heard the exchange, ran outside. He saw Dean and grinned. "Did you give up on women and decide to switch to men?"

Dean pointed to the car. "Get this off of baby. If there is so much as a scratch, I'm beating both of you."

Kate whined. "but Dean, it isn't our fault."

Dean shook his hair out.

Kate let herself crack up but forgot to dodge Dean. She caught a swat to her leg and nearly hit the ground because the handprint was glittery.

Dean rolled his eyes and dialed Sam's number. "I'm going to murder you."

Sam blinked slowly. "Why?"

"You know why." Dean said.

Sam didn't know why. He furrowed his eyebrows. "I really don't know." He heard an odd noise and turned to Jess. She had her face hidden in her hands and her face was red. He realized she was trying not to laugh and failing miserably.

"A glitter bomb?" Dean asked, incredulously.

Sam's eyes grew wide and he started laughing. "Oh man. Uh, I didn't know about that one."

Dean pulled his shirt off and tried to shake it out. "You mean this was Jess?"

Sam didn't answer.

Dean cleared his throat and spoke loud enough for Kate to hear him. "You just tell Jess she can explain to Kate why she's about to get her butt kicked."

Kate gasped. "It wasn't my fault!"

"You opened it!" Dean said.

Sam was almost in tears. "You can't be mad at her. She is innocent."

Dean scoffed. "You just wait until Bobby sees his yard."

Kate whipped her head to the house and took off running. She opened the door and called for Bobby. "Dean got glitter all over the yard."

Bobby looked at Karen for a moment and snorted. He and Karen walked outside and Kate was right, it was all over the yard.

Dean would have found it far more funny if it had been anyone else as the target. Glitter was the worst. It got everywhere and never really went away. He hung up with Sam to tend to his car and Kate.

Kate ran around to the other side of the car. "No. You stay over there."

Dean tossed his shirt on top of Taylor's head, causing a cascade of glitter to lightly coat Taylor.

Taylor swatted the shirt away and lamented at the state of his own clothes.

"Did I give up on women? I clearly have been too easy on you." Dean said, lightly popping the side of Taylor's head.

Bobby stopped Dean before he went inside. "Oh no you don't. I don't want that in the house."

Dean looked at him. "What am I supposed to do?"

"Wash off out here." Bobby said.

Karen chuckled.

"It is October. It is cold. I am not going to wash off out here." Dean said.

"Well you aren't going inside." Bobby said, firmly.

Dean couldn't beat Jess up so he'd settle for pummeling Sam the first chance he got. He spun on his heel to go back out to the car. He couldn't move the car out of the puddle of glitter without getting glitter in the car. It was fine glitter so the wind could pick it up and scatter it.

Kate had given up on trying not to laugh and struggled to remove the glitter from the car because her eyes were blurry.

Dean ran his hands through his hair and cringed. He probably had streaks of glitter where his fingers were. "How do we contain this?"

"Maybe Hailey knows. She has glitter for cheerleading." Kate said.

"She's grounded and doesn't have her phone." Taylor said with a sigh.

"Can you cover it with dirt?" Dean asked. He locked eyes with Taylor. "If you toss dirt on Baby I'm going to hurt you."

Taylor held his hands up. "Ladies like a rugged man over one riding around in a glittery car."

Dean flicked his ear. "Just fix this."

"The box had your name on it. Considering your tendency to not read, you probably would have opened it in the car." Kate said.

Dean raised both eyebrows. "Do you want to try me right now?"

Kate grinned. "I'm just saying of all the places for that to go off, out here was maybe not the worst. It could have been in Bobby's kitchen."

Dean suddenly remembered the powdered sugar incident and looked toward the porch.

Bobby leaned against the railing. "Had that gone off in my kitchen, you all would have been in a world of hurt." He narrowed his eyes at Dean. "Ask Dean about that."

Dean shook his head. "That was Sam's fault."

Bobby just looked at him.

"We didn't know those bags would break like that and Butterfingers dropped the thing." Dean defended himself.

"You threw it at him." Bobby said. He looked at Karen. "As much as I don't want a new oven, I'm interested to see if there is still powdered sugar under there."

Karen laughed. "That sounds like a fun story."

Bobby was not amused at the time. He didn't even know why they had powdered sugar. Maybe it was around the holidays and the boys had talked him into making cookies. Back then, they could talk him into a lot of things. He rubbed his face. "Idjit, over there, threw a big back of powdered sugar at Sam. Sam didn't catch it and it hit the ground." He mimicked a small explosion. "That is what they say happened. I walked in before the smoke settled. Sam was covered head to toe so I have a feeling it may have hit his head before the ground."

"That is hilarious." Karen said.

Bobby shook his head again.

"Can we have warm water, at least?" Dean asked.

"No." Bobby said.

Karen playfully smacked his arm. "Yes, you can have warm water."

Taylor approached the porch. "We could hook a hose to the kitchen sink instead of warming the water."

Bobby nodded. "I'll help with that."

Taylor was able to cover the glitter on the ground. He saw Kate approaching Dean and tilted his head.

Kate's palms were coated in hot pink glitter so she turned them slightly and placed a palm on either shoulder blade of Dean's back.

Dean jerked away from her. "What did you do?"

Kate jumped away from him. "You have wings now."

Dean tried to look at his back but he couldn't see the handprints. He tried to brush the glitter away but she had placed it just out of his reach. He heard Taylor's laugh and spun around. "Both of you are on thin ice."

Taylor ran around the side of the house, to the kitchen and asked Bobby for a camera. He returned and snapped a photo before Dean knew he had made it back around.

Dean threw his hands up. He still owed them an insurmountable amount of payback but this wasn't even their prank. It was Jess. While he was annoyed, he was a little impressed. Sam had not popped the question yet but she was pretty much a Winchester already. He heard John's truck and groaned. "Katelyn Amelia, you get this off of my back right now or I'm cutting a switch."

Kate gasped. "You can't switch me just for giving you wings."

Dean motioned to his back. "Watch me."

Kate giggled and smudged the wings. "They suited you." She screeched when Dean grabbed her and tossed her over his shoulder.

John sidestepped far away from the glitter zone and surveyed the damage. "Sam?"

Dean scoffed. "Jess."

John cracked a smile. "Damn."

Taylor grinned. "I have photos."

Dean spun around, causing Kate to giggle again. "You know what? Dad, they both have sucky attitudes."

Kate tried to wiggle free from Dean's grasp. "No! We have been laughing. Dean got grumpy!"

John rubbed the back of his neck. "When this is all cleaned up, meet me inside to discuss what I learned at the hospital."

Dean carried Kate around the side of the house and sat her down. "Just use cold water for her."

Taylor contained the ground glitter and rinsed the side of the car. They'd probably never contain all of the glitter but it wasn't in a thick sheet anymore.

Kate rinsed well and went inside to shower off and get dry clothes. Somehow, she was the least covered. She took the camera from Taylor and showed John the wings on Dean's back.

John snorted. "If he decides to follow through on those threats, you're on your own."

Kate frowned. "It wasn't even my fault."

Karen brushed through Kate's hair to make sure there were no more than a few specks of glitter left. She thought Bobby would be far more irritated but he just seemed amused. At least glitter didn't bring ants into the house.

(At dinner)

John explained his conversation with Mike, the coach's brother. "He started to miss periods of time. He would wake up and have blood on his hands. His wife said that he was violent a few times. This was so out of character that she had him seek help instead of pressing charges. During a three month period, he started to have less gaps in time but he was remembering what he had done. He claimed to have no control of his body and felt as though something evil was inside of him.

Taylor slowly chewed his food before speaking. "That sounds like a cut and dry demon case, doesn't it?"

"There are no signs that he is possessed now or has been recently. He was clear headed although guarded. He acted depressed and unsure of himself." John continued.

"I'd be depressed too." Dean added. "His family just left him there?"

Bobby sat his cup down. "If you don't know what demons are, any fraction of that stuff would make you think he was off his rocker. What are you planning to do?"

John forked a piece of chicken. "I'll talk to Mark, Taylor's coach. If all goes right, he could be released and we would educate them about possession and how to ward against it."

Kate had already mentally left the chat. How long ago did the demon possess him? He was from Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls was such a strange place for demons to flock. Still, they did flock there. Did Hellen bring them? Was Mike chosen? Was he just caught in the crossfire? Who did the demon hurt while controlling Mike's body? How would the coach connect Taylor having super strength to his brother being crazy? Did he think Taylor was a demon? No. He said that he knew Taylor was good. If he thought he had been possessed, he would have said something. Who knocked down that domino? What did Mike look like?

(Monday)

Kate spent Saturday night and all of Sunday, spiraling into her own head. Something was pulling her attention but she couldn't pinpoint it.

Taylor let Dean know that Kate wasn't sleeping the best. Dean said he'd talk to her. Taylor was far from a rat but he didn't want Kate to suffer. He was glad to see Hailey and be able to talk to her. Her being grounded was an equal punishment for him because he had to wait around for lunch time or a quick conversation in the hallway. Josh didn't act like he was still angry. To Taylor's knowledge, his compulsion had held and he was able to stop something from happening. He even asked Josh about it and Josh smiled and told him that he had spoken to the coach.

Hailey jumped on Taylor's back and wrapped her arms around him. "Are you going to help me Wednesday?"

Taylor remembered his promise to help her with the food pantry. "Of course."

Hailey grinned. "I wasn't sure if you were just trying to butter up my dad."

Taylor laughed. "No. If I promise something, I'll follow through. I was a little concerned about saving you but I do like to be helpful."

Hailey kissed his cheek but hopped off his back when they got a disapproving look from a teacher. As far as public displays of affection went, the kiss on the cheek was tame. Still, their school balked at slow dancing any closer than an arm's length apart. "His eyes would roll right out of his head if he saw what the seniors do."

Taylor pulled a face. "I didn't need to be reminded."

Hailey walked beside him, dramatically determined not to touch elbows or bump into him.

Taylor was amused. He put an arm over her shoulder and told her that he wasn't sure how he felt about her new attitude toward authority figures.

Hailey waved to one of her friends. "Oh I'm still a model citizen. He 'dress coded' me last week and I may be annoyed."

Taylor furrowed his eyebrows. "When?"

"I was wearing the purple dress that has white flowers. I had on my jean jacket but took it off for five minutes so I could wash the beakers." Hailey explained.

"How did he even see you?" Taylor asked, trying to piece together how an English teacher had witnessed such a disgrace if she was in the science area.

"I'm pretty sure he went out of his way. He is a sad old man." Hailey said.

Taylor shrugged and joked. "Sorry, your shoulders are too much of a distraction to be out and about."

Hailey grabbed a tray and picked her food. "He's probably a creep."

Taylor hoped not. He shuddered. "If I am ever here alone, I'll remember to keep myself covered."

Hailey sat down and scooted over so Taylor could sit beside her. "My dad still has my phone. I barely made it through the weekend. Talk about boring."

"Don't do drugs." Taylor said with a smirk.

Hailey gasped and pinched his arm. "That is mean."

Nate joined them. "There is going to be a SpookTober party. I'm just going to assume that you aren't going."

Taylor shot him a look. "You'd assume right."

Hailey smiled. "Oh yeah, because of what happened last time?"

Nate's eyes grew wide. "You told her?"

Taylor's face turned red. "Kate did."

"I want to go but I think I pushed my luck." Nate said.

"No parties. My dad would kill me." Taylor said.

Hailey tilted her head.

"He wasn't happy about the last one." Taylor said.

"This one could be lame. They don't have to bring alcohol." Nate said.

Taylor shook his head. "No thanks. If it isn't a birthday party, I'm not going."

"He means a birthday party for a six year old." Nate said.

Hailey smiled. "Save the wild parties for Junior year when we are too old to be grounded."

Taylor snorted. "I could be 30 and still catch it."

"I don't believe you. Your dad is adorable." Hailey said.

Taylor and Nate both looked at her like she had three heads.

"What? He just looks like a teddy bear. He's always cheering you on and walks around with Ian on his shoulders at games." Hailey said.

Taylor narrowed his eyes. "You've not seen him mad."

Hailey admitted that she had not.

Taylor thought about it. "I guess he does hang out with Ian at games." John had a soft side but Hailey was probably viewing only his soft side. "If you were in the woods and saw a cougar, are you the type to try to pet it?"

Hailey tapped her fingers on the table. "Maybe."

Taylor called that a mile away. "Don't. They have sharp claws."

"A cat is a cat." Hailey said. "If they are cute and fuzzy, I will try to be friends."

"Remind me not to go camping with you." Taylor joked.

Hailey patted his upper arm. "You're big and strong. If I misjudge how friendly a wild animal is, you will protect me."

"She's going to get you mauled." Nate said.

Taylor nodded quickly. "My tombstone will read, 'Hailey got him killed by a bear'."

Nate guarded the side of his face from Hailey's eyes and mouthed 'John's the bear'

Taylor cringed. Was that foreshadowing?

(Kate)

Monday was turning out to be the most Monday-est Monday of all the Mondays. She read ahead in her textbooks and felt like she was listening to paint crackle as it dried. She kept daydreaming and got through two classes without hearing a thing that was said. During the third class, she decided to walk through her thoughts to find something to research. She knew that not all demons were working for the same boss. Crowley and Abbadon were enemies. Hellen was working with Abbadon. Was the demon in Mike working for Crowley or Abbadon?

*Sioux Falls was a hot spot. Kate would need to compare the haze to other cities but she had managed to sink into a vision and view the city as though it was in a dome. She viewed Hellen's house, or what used to be Hellen's house. She felt herself being pulled down to the ground and could almost see the ghost of the house. Unsurprisingly, the air around the house was heavy with gray particles. She left the house, knowing that she had been injured there in a vision already. How did demons get topside? Was there a gate? Did they just bubble up from hell like methane gas? Was there something in Sioux Falls that caused them to linger? For the number of demons around, she found it odd that they didn't have more issues. Her family had been attacked enough but she thought that it would have gone down the demon grape vine that they were hunters. Why were demons just chilling? Hellen was gone. David was gone.*

Kate returned to her classroom to her teacher crouching by her desk. She noticed everyone was looking at her and blushed. "Ma'am?"

The teacher was concerned. "Do you feel alright?"

"Yes." Kate said.

The teacher didn't want to embarrass Kate so she continued with the lesson. She did stop her after class again. "You have a tendency to zone out."

"I'm sorry. I get lost daydreaming." Kate said.

"I'm worried that it is something more than that. I'd like for you to talk to the nurse." The teacher said.

Kate chewed her thumbnail. "Oh. Uh. I feel fine."

"I'll send her a note. You may get called down to the office. I am just concerned. You are not in any kind of trouble." The teacher said in a kind voice.

Kate gave her a small smile. "Okay. Um. Thanks."

She ate lunch and tried to keep her mind busy. She couldn't get away from the vision. It was more interesting than sitting in class and her next teacher was far less observant. She'd just do more research and snap back before class ended.

*Kate traveled back to her vision. She looked for other dark spots and checked them out. Was it really random? There was no way. Her vision was pulled to a playground. It was dark but there was a full moon. A little girl, younger than Kate, was sitting on a swing, gently swaying back and forth. She had on a white dress with a black bow. Her hair was blonde and hung around her shoulders. She didn't have shoes on but her white ruffle socks were not soiled from the mulch that she ran her feet across.

The little girl looked up at Kate and held her hand out. "Come play with me."

Kate felt a chill run up her spine and took a step back, finding that the gate had been closed behind her.*

Hannah stared into Kate's eyes and sighed in relief when Kate's eyes stopped moving and settled on hers.

Kate blinked. "What?"

Hannah held up a tissue for Kate and motioned to her nose.

Kate groaned. She hated nose bleeds. She looked behind Hannah and froze. The normally non observant teacher had called the nurse into the room. Great.

The nurse let Hannah walk to her office with Kate. Usually, she wouldn't allow another student into the room but she thought Hannah may know about Kate's condition.

Kate wanted to be anywhere but the nurse's office. She had not planned to have attention drawn to her.

The nurse checked her out and asked a ton of questions, hinting that she and the first teacher thought that Kate may be having neurological issues.

Hannah was trying to help and said that Kate just zones out sometimes and snaps back to it with no issues.

The nurse was even more concerned. "How long has this been going on?"

"A few years." Hannah said.

Kate bit her cheek. "It is nothing. I just get bored and daydream."

"Sweetie, daydreaming doesn't make your nose bleed." The nurse said.

"I have allergies." Kate tried.

The nurse gave her some water. "You just sit tight. I'm going to call your dad. I'd like for you to be seen by a doctor."

Kate's stomach dropped. "What?"

Hannah squeaked. "Call Dean. Her dad is out of town."

Kate was thankful that Hannah had thought of that. John would know straight away that she wasn't just daydreaming. Dean would know too but Dean was less likely to start the lecture in the office. It wasn't a big deal. She'd just get to go home early and return with a fake note saying that she was just fine.

Dean drove down to the school and asked the nurse what was going on. He sighed and collected Kate. Once they were in the car he looked at her. "What was that?"

Kate fidgeted. "I had a vision. They just think I had a seizure or something."

Dean held up a piece of paper. "We have to get you checked out before you can go back."

Kate grimaced. "I'm okay though. We can just fake the note."

"Not when the doctor is her husband." Dean said. "She made sure he had an open appointment this afternoon."

Kate sunk down in the seat. "How nice of her."

Dean drove over to the doctor's office and walked Kate in. Thankfully, the appointment went quickly. He did want her referred to a neurologist but they'd worry about that later. He picked Taylor up since school had just been let out and drove back to the house.

Kate wasn't sure if they were angry at her. She didn't know what she looked like during a vision and she couldn't always control them. The school just thought she needed a neurologist. It was an easy fix with a note from a made up neurologist. Taylor supermanned a weight, on camera, and it was swept under the rug. Surely, her shaking her eyes wasn't that big of a deal.

John returned around dinner time. He was given a synopsis of Kate's ordeal and it didn't sit right with him. He asked her about it during dinner. "What was this vision?"

Kate groaned inwardly. "There was a girl on a swing. She just said to come play with her and I snapped out of it."

"The note from the school said that you've had these episodes a few times." John said.

Kate swallowed a bite. "I zone out sometimes."

John placed his empty plate in the sink and sat back down. "You zone out?"

"I guess I day dream." Kate said.

Taylor cleared the rest of the dishes and helped Karen put the extra food away. He wanted to vacate the kitchen before Kate and John butted heads.

"How many visions have you had?" John asked.

Kate sat back in her seat. "I don't know. Sometimes I don't know if it is a vision or just my mind entertaining me."

"You should be at school when you are at school." John said.

Kate gritted her teeth. "My grades are perfect. I do what I am supposed to do. I can't help that I retain information like this. I get bored and let my mind wander. It is normal."

John studied her. "Your teacher says that you have zoned out to the point that you do not respond to your name or touch. Then, you snap back and know the answer to the question."

Kate shrugged. "Hannah has helped me like twice."

John bristled.

"She isn't helping me." Kate said with a huff. "She knows I can hear thoughts if I'm trying to and just told me the answer was C to a question that the teacher had asked me. It wasn't during a test. It was just class work that I had already completed and all of my answers were right."

John didn't like that Hannah was aware that Kate was having visions during class and seemed to be assisting her. "Why didn't you say something?"

Kate was silent for a minute. "I have visions and daydreams all the time. You know that."

"Today, did you purposefully go into a vision because of what we discussed the other night?" John asked.

Kate shifted. "What?"

"You have not slept well since then. Have you been having visions about that?" John asked.

Kate's mouth fell open but she snapped it back shut. She chewed her cheek and spoke. "I was thinking about it. It just seems weird that the coach put all of that together. What if someone is helping him? Then I started wondering about the demons in Sioux Falls and why they are here if Hellen is gone. Do you realize how many demons are here? Why aren't they causing more trouble? Why are they just hanging around?"

"Do you know how many demons are here?" John asked, sitting forward in his chair.

Kate narrowed her eyes. Damn him and his ability to pick out little details. "I mean, we keep running into demons."

"Did you search for them?" John asked.

Kate slumped. "All I did was look at Sioux Falls like it was cut off from the rest of the world. I can see darker areas where demons tend to hang around. Hellen's house is dark."

Dean pinched the bridge of his nose. He was really hoping she had just been hit with a vision. "Hellen's house?"

Kate looked between Dean and John. "I didn't do anything wrong. I thought it was weird that demons gathered here. I just wanted to see if there was one area they still gathered. Hellen is gone. David is gone. What is holding them here?"

"That is not something you need to look at during school." John said.

Kate was angry that she seemed to be back in hot water. "It is harmless."

"If you are searching for demons, it is not harmless. You know that they can target you in a vision. Again, you were at school. Had you gotten into something dangerous, who would be able to help you?" John asked. "Hannah? She was given clear instructions NOT to help you because she is also a child."

Kate stood up quickly. "You told her not to help with freak stuff. She wasn't helping me. I haven't touched any of that. She covered for me so that I didn't draw attention to myself. She gave me the answer to a stupid question."

John warned her to sit down.

Kate sat down, although she was done talking.

"I did not accuse you of messing with freak stuff. Hannah covered for you but you cannot rely on her for this stuff. You have had faulty visions that had physical consequences. You can't play around with that stuff." John said.

"I'm not hunting. I'm not researching anything you said not to. I can't just sit and exist. You took everything from me. I can't do research. I can't go to the lab. I can't solve freak issues so people just keep dying. I can't hunt. So, yeah, I stepped out of class to answer my own questions." Kate said.

John took a deep breath. "You took everything from yourself by being irresponsible."

Kate's eyes flashed blue and Dean cringed. "Katie, your nose was bleeding. We are going to be worried since you've almost died before."

Kate stood back up. "No. You, Dean, were worried. You were concerned." She flicked her eyes to John. "He isn't worried. He is pissed that I was curious about something he didn't pre-approve of. Are you going to control my thoughts too?"

John slowly stood up. "Go to your room."

Kate glared at him. "Do you even want to know about the demons?"

John placed his palms on the table. "Go to your room, now."

Kate stepped back and roughly slid her chair under the table. "Of course. Taylor was caught on camera and got a pat on the back. I have one nose bleed and you act like I'm back to working with Hellen." She spun on her heel and muttered under her breath as she stomped up the stairs. 'Just let other hunters fucking die.'

Dean's shoulders shot up to his ears when her door slammed. He gritted his teeth and slowly lowered them. He saw the look on John's face and waited for him to move. He needed to go for a run or something. "Dad."

John held his hand up to silence Dean. "You will not make an excuse for her. You will not go up there and coddle her to calm her down."

"I don't-"

"Dean, do not argue with me right now." John ground out.

The lights flickered. Dean looked up at the ceiling. Was he going to have to spend another night in the panic room with her? He was grateful when John stepped out of the house. He wanted to talk to Kate. He wanted to get her head on straight so she didn't make things worse for herself. Had he handled it earlier, he could have saved her skin. Sure, she was using abilities at school but he could give her a reminder and set her straight. Things took a turn when she got mad. If that didn't remind him of Sam…

Taylor approached Dean. "I've got to talk to her."

Dean turned him away from the stairs. "You heard dad."

"No, dude. The veil." Taylor said.

Dean noted that John's truck was gone and met eyes with Bobby. He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. "Run."

Taylor sprinted up the stairs and saw Kate holding a ball of light in her hands.

Kate didn't look at him.

Taylor gently cupped his hand around hers. "Don't open the veil."

Kate looked away from him.

"Now is so not the time." Taylor said.

Kate looked at him with tired eyes and absorbed the light back into her hands. He was right. Why let them know she could open a rift at will?

Taylor saw flashes of her visions and jumped out of his skin when someone grabbed the back of his shirt.

Dean yanked Taylor out of the room. "He's back and you were in a vision." He shoved Taylor to the stairs and slid back into the room. He grabbed the sides of Kate's face and looked into her eyes. "You're aging me."

Kate gave him a sad smile and rolled her eyes when she heard their feet hit the bottom floor. She got up and quietly shut her door. She had slammed it. If it was open, he'd know they talked to her. Maybe she had over reacted. She pulled the light back into her hands and gazed into it like a crystal ball. She heard Taylor in her head and got rid of it. Pinochio had Jiminy Cricket. Kate had Taylor.
