Chapter One: A Truth to a Lost Son

All I ever wanted since becoming human was a quiet life with my family. Turns out, one can never truly walk away from some responsibilities. My wife is gone, but I still have my kids.

I've tried to be welcoming to all my kids' friends. There was one who always stood out. Orihime Inoue. I can tell that for the longest time, she thought Ichigo would one day marry her.

Which is fine.

Because most people accept that sometimes their affection is one way.

That sometimes that person does not like you back.

Except Orihime.

Ichigo was her world. And nobody was going to get in her way.

Thousands of shouts of "My Waifu!" apparently excuse how obsessive she is. Apparently, because she is big chested, it is okay to look at her in an adult manner. Hell no! I've seen these Internet forums flooded with things which cannot be mentioned. It disgusts me. As a man, it disgusts me. As a doctor, it disgusts me. I've helped underage rape victims. I've seen how it is for them. Orihime is a child, and no adult should feel in such a manner for her.

That is my only sympathy for her. Considering all that she has done, I am beginning to doubt I have that sympathy left.

It seems like not too long ago, Ichigo and the shinigami, Rukia Kuchiki, were an item. Of course, I'm not supposed to know about that, right?

Then the American, Sam Hawthorne, now Shirahime Thorne, got dragged into Soul Society by Ichigo's hollow side and went through hell.

I'm not actually supposed to know that either. I'm not supposed to know she's The Imperial Princess, that she was the last incarnation of Ichigo's first incarnation's wife.

No wonder Ichigo can't let her go.

So, I told him I would allow him to marry Shirahime when he turned 18.

Yeah, I didn't ask Shirahime's opinion.

She'd most likely remove certain "parts" of mine.

Normally, it shouldn't matter.

She would have an opinion.

Except this time.

As the Shinnouhi, she is bound to wed either the king's son, or to become the queen as the wife of the current king. She has no choice.

Now things have gotten interesting. Shirahime is human again and pretending to be the reincarnation of her sister, and her former incarnation, Yukihime "Hime" Suzunami, is pretending to be her.

But that's not what's got me so angry.

No Means No.

Curse that Orihime Inoue!

She would have succeeded in forcing herself on my only son had his previous incarnation not come back. Oh yes, another thing I'm not supposed to know. I know about Prince Ichigo.

Orihime wanted to have a child with Ichigo, to force him to wed her.

She hates that I call Yachiru and Daichi Ichigo's kids and my grandchildren.

Well, if relating them to an incarnation of Ichigo, I'm right.

Orihime thought we'd all look aside once she was pregnant. That we'd all feel so sorry for her - as usual - that she could do whatever the hell she wanted.

Now, surely, Shirahime and Yukihime are ready to kill her. I sure am. So are Ichigo's sisters.

But Shirahime gave her a slight grace. Reminded all of us that Orihime is a child. So that she may be spared the full punishment that the Emperor of Heaven would have given. This is one of the times I wish the emperor was back. He was long before my time, but I know well enough what would be if he were here.

SOUL SOCIETY - NEAR THE THIRD DIVISION

Prince Ichigo stood protectively in front of Yukihime. He glared down at the pathetic mortal still trying to remove her clothing.

"Stay away from my family, you pathetic Fake Princess."

"KUROSAKI-KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!" Orihime screamed. "You don't mean it!"

Unnoticed by many, the Soul King in the body of Jushiro Ukitake brought Ichigo's sisters to Soul Society. After hearing enough to understand what happened, Karin marched over and decked Orihime in her face. She threw punched the girl repeatedly then stomped on her.

"That's my girl!" Isshin declared proudly.

"Hey! Stop that!" Uryu screamed as he pushed Karin off her.

Shirahime grabbed Uryu, pulled him off Karin, and struck him so hard across his face that he flew backwards.

Chad, having watched the scene from the show, arrived just in time to catch him.

"You disappoint me, Uryu," Shirahime hissed in Mandarin, "you are no son of mine. Not now, possibly not ever again."

Uryu felt his face swelling from his broken nose and jaw.

Shirahime turned to the Soul King. "How long before Ichibe and the others get here?"

"They are almost here," he answered.

Her blood ran cold. She looked at Yukihime, the woman not hiding the rage from her face.

"If you don't mind, Shinnouhi," Shirahime said to Yukihime, "I'll get the children out of here."

"Let's go!" Ikkaku agreed.

"Let's run, in fact," Yumi added. He took Daichi's hand. "Come on, son."

Hidetomo took Shirahime's hand. "I'll go with you."

"You'd better," she said quickly. Aside from Yachiru, Ichibe may know of Daichi, but he didn't know of Raiko and Hidetomo.

The man looked at Yukihime and wondered if she would be all right.

"She's the Shinnouhi," Shirahime said quickly. "And with the Soul King here -."

"I know," he said.

They ran.

"Oh, prince," the Soul King said to Ichigo. "You'd better go behind them. Ichibe shouldn't know you're here either. And don't worry, I'll send your father and sisters back home."

SOUL SOCIETY - EIGHTH DIVISION

"Quickly, quickly," Nanao urged the group inside her room.

Shunsui stood there, looking skeptically at Hidetomo.

"So, I'm supposed to believe it's true then? You're the princess' other son?"

"Taicho!" Nanao admonished. "Surely not now! There are more important -."

"Ichibe is coming here to deal with Fake Princess," Shirahime cut in. "But I cannot let him find the children."

"Ichibe? Are you serious?" Shunsui asked.

"Well, Fake Princess is about to literally die and go to hell," Shirahime explained. "But Ichibe will postpone that in favor of punishment."

"Full punishment?" Shunsui asked.

"No, she's a child after all."

"With an adult level assault!" he objected.

"Noted," she agreed.

"You sure know a lot about the Royal Realm," Nanao observed.

Shirahime nearly forgot she was now known as Benihime Urahara and that her previous incarnation, Yukihime, was not filling in for her position.

"Well, when I was revived -," she began.

"Makes sense," Nanao agreed. "No need to elaborate in front of the children." It wasn't a secret what Ichibe and the others did to Shirahime, but it was a secret that Benihime was Shirahime.

"Hey, let me divide you all up, and you take different rooms," Shunsui said. He looked at Hidetomo. "You should be able to do a good job looking after them. No one will know that -."

"Taicho," Nanao interrupted, "Rangiku Matsumoto's been spreading the rumor that he's the son of Sosuke Aizen and Momo Hinamori. Haven't you been watching the show?"

"Yeah," Daichi agreed. "She's so desperate to - what is that you've said, mo - auntie?"

"How do you mean, nephew?" Shirahime asked.

"Well, you know, Dr. Kurosaki tried to explain it to me. Well, whatever all that is, that's what she wants with Papa Kenny. She actually hates mom for it. So, I think that's why."

"But why Momo Hinamori?" Shunsui asked. "Wouldn't it be better to say your mom's his mother?"

"Yamamoto Sou Taicho believes the only person Aizen would have a child with is Hinamori," Nanao explained.

"You know," Hidetomo said, "I'm right here and all. Can't you vouch for me, princess?" he asked Shirahime.

"Ikkaku," Shirahime began, "can you take Yachiru, Daichi, and Raiko outside a moment?"

"Sure, okay," he said.

"But -."

"You should do like your aunt wants," Ikkaku interrupted, preventing him from calling her "mom."

Ikkaku led them outside, Yachiru looking back and frowning at them.

When they shut the door, Shirahime spoke up, "In whatever time that Shinnouhi would have known Aizen - from any life - she has no memory of a reason why -." She hesitated. She looked to Hidetomo. "You're an adult. Daichi and Raiko - they are sheltered and not ready for what I would say. You're an adult, but I think you can handle it." She took a deep breath. Yumichika squeezed her hand. "Shirahime Thorne has no recollection of any events that would logically lead up to Sosuke Aizen being biologically the father of you, Daichi, or Raiko. Can you understand what I'm saying?"

Hidetomo took a breath. "So, he used his zanpakuto?"

"No. She's immune to it. So are Daichi and Raiko. You should be, too."

"But then?" he asked.

She turned on him. "You really weren't surprised when the Soul King pointed you out as her son, were you? People just then realized you were Aizen's son. You look just like him. Daichi, on the other hand, resembles his zanpakuto, kind of."

"You've seen his zanpakuto?" Nanao asked.

"It's what Shirahime told me," Shirahime answered. She turned back to Hidetomo. "What are you not telling me?"

"You knew, didn't you?" Shunsui guessed.

"Father left me a note," he admitted. "He said mother wouldn't know about me because she was too ill when she was pregnant with me. He left me in the care of a family who believed I had always been theirs. He said he wanted to save mother. Said he'd have to do that first, and that one day, we'd all be back together. He never once told me I had a brother or sister. Of course, who would know about Raiko? As for Daichi, well? Let me guess, he didn't know, did he? Not at first. Let me guess, she died when she was pregnant, didn't she?"

"What do you mean, she died?" Nanao asked.

Shirahime slumped to the floor.

"Fine, you deserve to know. You may not be as powerful as Daichi, definitely not as powerful as Raiko, but you are still very intelligent. Don't forget that.

"Shirahime's previous incarnation was known as Yukihime Suzunami. She was an abused woman. She had the worst husband anyone could imagine." She looked up to Shunsui. "Do you remember the Suzunami noble family?"

"I - I -," he stammered.

"I bet Aizen erased them," she guessed. "I suppose you could find a record of them in general, but I bet you won't find a record of Seigen or his sister.

"Seigen Suzunami preceded that annoying piece of shit known as Shinji as the Fifth Division Taicho. He found Shirayukihime in that lifetime. She must have somehow escaped the palace. He found her. He named her Yukihime. He manipulated her into being his wife. And what he did to her afterwards and every day of her life, I really don't want to say it. Please, it hurts too much."

"But wasn't Aizen just as bad?" Nanao asked. "He somehow forced himself on her in a way she wouldn't remember."

"As bad as he was," Shirahime said, "he was her only friend. So, you see, do you see why Aizen will do anything for Shirahime?"

"But Shirahime and Yukihime, are they not different people?" Nanao asked.

"Thank you," Shirahime said. "You understand. You can see them as different. Aizen cannot."

Shunsui lifted Shirahime up. "Let's get you to bed." He looked to Hidetomo. "Hidetomo, you can believe Aizen is your father. But don't tell Daichi or Raiko he is theirs. They'll never believe the "Bad Man" is their father. They have fathers of their own they picked out for themselves. And -," he paused, "if you do ever see Aizen, remember he doesn't know about Raiko. It's best it stays that way."

"That's what Ichimaru and Fake Princess have in common," Hidetomo said. "I can see it now what Ichimaru would do to Raiko if he ever found out about her."

"If you can see it, then you are Shirahime's son after all," Shirahime said. "She saw what Fake Princess planned to do months in advance. Yes, you are right. Ichimaru would do just that."

THE INCARNATIONS OF SHIRAYUKIHIME SHINNOUHI

Shirayukihime no Tenjou ("Snow White Princess of the Heavens"*): Elder god and the first incarnation of many, she was the wife of Crown Prince Ichigo, later incarnated as Ichigo Kurosaki, and the mother of their child, Hikari, later reincarnated as Yachiru Kusajishi. Unwanted daughter of the previous incarnation of Kisuke Urahara. Her father sold her to the Emperor of Heaven without knowledge or consent of her mother who was the previous incarnation of Yoruichi Shihoin.

Thousand Year Princess: The name Shunsui Kyoraku gave to Shirayukihime Shinnouhi's incarnation he encountered over 1,000 years ago. She was the mother of the first incarnations of twins Matsuri and Fujimaru Kudo. Yamamoto, Unohana, Ukitake, and Kyoraku murdered the twins at the direction of the corrupt priest Ichibe. Of the four, only Yamamoto does not regret his actions.

Suzunami, Yukihime "Hime" (As "Shirahime Shihoin"): The incarnation of Shirayukihime prior to Shirahime. She lived in Soul Society over 100 years ago when Kisuke Urahara and Yoruichi Shihoin were still taichos in their divisions. At the time, she did not know they were the reincarnations of Shirayukihime's parents. In that lifetime, she was married to Seigen Suzunami, Fifth Division Taicho and was the lowest ranking member of the Fifth Division. They had two adopted children, Matsuri and Fujimaru Kudo, though they were often thought of as just Seigen's children. In the present, Yukihime is pretending to be Shirahime Thorne Shihoin. She has dropped "Thorne" from her name, claiming it was a desire to be closer to her mother. Zanpakuto: Kosetsu Ryu.

Thorne (Shihoin), Shirahime (As "Benihime Urahara"): The final incarnation of Shirayukihime. She is an elder god. After a desperate plan to save her children Daichi and Raiko, she summoned Yukihime Suzunami at the cost of her own life. Only those witnessing this and a few others know that Yukihime is now pretending to be Shirahime. Later on, Retsu Unohana, Mayuri Kurotsuchi, Kisuke Urahara, and Yoruichi Shihoin were able to bring Shirahime back to life. When she incarnated again, they called her Benihime Urahara, pretending she was Shirahime's sister. Since Shirahime has children from previous incarnations and was not pregnant with them (in her current incarnation), her children don't think she needs to be pregnant to have more kids. Thus, several people are very confused on certain facts of life. Rightful zanpakutos: Kosetsu Ryu and Yukihime (no Tenjou).

THE CHILDREN OF SHIRAYUKIHIME SHINNOUHI:

Princess Hikari / Kusajishi, Yachiru: Hikari was the daughter of Shirayukihime no Tenjou and Crown Prince Ichigo. She died shortly after birth. Her current incarnation is Yachiru Kusajishi, who considers Shirahime Thorne and Kenpachi Zaraki her parents. She calls Crown Prince Shiroyuki her dad and is his heir.

Princess Matsuri / Kudo, Matsuri: The older twin sister of Fujimaru. Matsuri was the daughter of an incarnation of Crown Prince Shiroyuki and The Thousand Year Princess. Both twins were murdered by Yamamoto, Unohana, Ukitake, and Kyoraku. She was later reincarnated as Matsuri Kudo and was the daughter of Seigen and Yukihime "Hime" Suzunami.

Prince Fujimaru / Kudo, Fujimaru: The younger twin brother of Matsuri. Fujimaru was the son of an incarnation of Crown Prince Shiroyuki and The Thousand Year Princess. Both twins were murdered by Yamamoto, Unohana, Ukitake, and Kyoraku. He was later reincarnated as Fujimaru Kudo and was the son of Seigen and Yukihime "Hime" Suzunami.

Kajomaru, Hidetomo: The eldest child of Yukihime "Hime" Suzunami and Sosuke Aizen. Sosuke used his zanpakuto's power to hide him in another family and promised to come back for him when he would be able to save his mother. Unlike his full brother and sister, he acknowledges Sosuke Aizen as his father. Currently Sixth Seat of The Thirteenth Division.

Takeya, Daichi Thorne: Shirahime's son and Third Seat of The Fifth Division. Considers Yumichika "Yumi" Ayasegawa to be his father. Biological son of Yukihime "Hime" Suzunami and Sosuke Aizen. Zanpakuto: Aoi Raiko.

Takeya, Raiko Thorne: Daichi's younger twin sister whom Shirahime sealed inside of him to hide her existence from her biological father. Biological daughter of Yukihime "Hime" Suzunami and Sosuke Aizen. Some assume her to be merely the physical incarnation of Daichi's zanpakuto, Aoi Raiko. Considers Shinjiro Kita her father.

THE ROYAL REALM

Crown Prince Ichigo: Son of the Emperor of Heaven, husband of Shirayukihime no Tenjou, and father of Princess Hikari. He is the first incarnation of Ichigo Kurosaki. He has taken his current incarnation's place in life and is determined to save both incarnations of his wife, Yukihime and Shirahime.

Prince Kail / Crown Prince Shiroyuki: Prince Kail was Crown Prince Ichigo's younger brother who always loved Shirayukihime. His most recent incarnation, Crown Prince Shiroyuki, was murdered while saving Shirahime Thorne from his enemies in the royal realm.

The (Current) Soul King: An abomination on the throne. He is the descendant of the Emperor of Heaven and the father of Prince Kail's current (and recently murdered) incarnation. He has taken over the body of Jushiro Ukitake in order to take part in the contest, Marriage of Princesses.

Hyosube, Ichibe: A corrupt Buddhist priest with wicked plans for any incarnation of Shirayukihime Shinnouhi.

Shinnouhi Royal Guard: Shirahime's guard while in the Royal Realm. In order of highest to lowest rank: Senna, Sierra, Mitsuhiro, Lin (Lín) (林), Miyako, Jiang (Jiāng), and Zan. Mitsuhiro and Zan are the only men in the guard. Lín and Jiāng are sisters.

Jiang (Jiāng) (江): Sixth Seat of the Shinnouhi Royal Guard. Given the name Jiāng "River" (江) by an incarnation of Shirayukihime Shinnouhi.

Lin (Lín) (林): Fourth Seat of the Shinnouhi Royal Guard. Given the name Lín "Forest" (林) by an incarnation of Shirayukihime Shinnouhi.

THE FIFTH DIVISION

After Shirahime Thorne's death in Key of Gods Arc: Bend or Break, Crown Prince Shiroyuki declared that his wife should succeed the traitor Sosuke Aizen as Fifth Division Taicho and further declared that besides her, only her children could lead the division.

After Shirahime is resurrected and returns to Soul Society, she divides the division into three subdivisions: Alpha, Delta, and Theta. Alpha Subdivision is in charge of the barrier between Soul Society and the Royal Realm.

Abe, Yukiko: Sixth Seat and Vice Alpha. Second leader of the Alpha Subdivision after Shinjiro.

Hinamori, Momo: Fifth Division Fukutaicho who is loyal to (and in love with) Shirahime Thorne. She is currently hiding Shirahime's second zanpakuto, Yukihime no Tenjou.

Kita, Shinjiro: Fifth Seat and head of all Subdivisions. Former Seventh Seat of the Eleventh Division. He has been interested in Shirahime since they were both members of The Eleventh Division. He is loyal to Shirahime and is her closest friend in The Fifth Division. Raiko considers him her father.

ZANPAKUTO

Aoi Raiko ("Blue Lightning"): Daichi's zanpakuto. To some, Raiko is considered Aoi Raiko's incarnation, but she is actually Daichi's twin sister.

Kosetsu Ryu ("Snowfall dragon"): A snow zanpkauto which can appear as an ice or snow dragon. Currently Yukihime Suzunami's zanpakuto. As Shirahime Thorne's zanpkauto, can appear as a little boy with dragon wings. Considered the eldest son of Shirahime.

Yukihime (no Tenjou) ("Snow Princess of the Heavens"*): Shirahime's second zanpakuto currently in the care of Momo Hinamori. Can appear in a form resembling Shirahime.

THE HUMAN WORLD

Inoue, Orihime: A lonely fifteen-year-old girl who decided many years ago that Ichigo Kurosaki is the only one for her. "NO MEANS NO" has zero meaning for her. She does not care that Ichigo is not interested in her. She is insanely jealous that Ichigo calls Yachiru and Daichi his children with Shirahime (not that Shirahime agreed). He is correct for Yachiru in the sense that Yachiru is the reincarnation of his daughter from a prior life with Shirahime's past self.

Kurosaki, Ichigo: A fifteen-year-old boy and substitute shinigami who is in love with Shirahime Thorne, even though she told him that she is not interested. He is the reincarnation of her first incarnation's husband who treated her badly. He is the object of Orhime Inoue's obsession. He is not interested in her.

Kurosaki, Isshin / Shiba, Isshin: A former shinigami taicho who is now human. He knows the true identites of Yukhime Suzunami and Shirahime Thorne. He, like any other obedient shinigami, is loyal to Shirayukihime Shinnouhi and is willing to fight and die for her. Unfortunately for Shirahime, he has told Ichigo that he has his permission to marry Shirahime once he is 18. (Note: At this time in Japan (not current writing year), people can get married at age 20, but with parental permission, can get married at age 18.)

Kurosaki, Karin: Ichigo's tomboy younger sister that will not put up with Orihime's bullshit.

Kurosaki, Yuzu: Karin's twin sister who no one would think would ever fight back. She has been training under Shirahime Shīfù. She refers to Shirahime as Shīfù as (师父), not (师傅).

* Japanese Translation Note: No, this is not what Shirayukihime no Tenjou nor Yukihime no Tenjou would accurately translate to, but it is the translation for purposes of the Across the Dimensions Universe.

As a reminder, I write Across the Dimensions in story arcs. This arc is The Fifth Division in the Red. You will find the stories listed in order. Some are missing as they have not been posted yet. On AO3, the order is easy to find in the Bleach: Across the Dimensions series, which includes MA content stories, or in the Bleach: Cross series, which are for stories Rated M and Under Only. On FFN, the stories should appear in order when sorting by category, but not all stories may show up if a filter for T and Under is on.

AO3 has additional stories and the MA versions of some stories not available on FFN. These can be easily located in the collection SHIRAYUKIHIME. On FFN, stories that have an alternative Rated MA Version will be labeled as "Rated M Version" (or shortened if I am running out of title room). Unlike CERTAIN FFN AUTHORS, these are NOT ACTUALLY RATED MA VERSIONS WITH EXPLICIT SEX SCENES. Yeah, I'm sure some of you are disappointed. FFN went out of its way to SUPPOSEDLY ban MA stories, but they don't remove them in my experience. I complained about a certain story that was STORY TITLE (Rated M) and STORY TITLE: RATED M VERSION where "STORY TITLE: RATED M VERSION" was apparently just sex scenes. Which I skipped since I'm not interested. That content should be on AO3 or other websites. It is not the first time I have seen a Rated MA story listed as Rated M.

Historical Note: This story takes place in the early 2000s, where, unlike today, in Japan, people can get married at age 20, but with parental permission, can get married at age 18.

Concerning characters, Toshiro Hitsugaya of Across the Dimensions is actually an adult, and all the gods know it. This is hinted at and sometimes directly said several times. Crown Prince Ichigo turned him into his true self, so he is in his "adult form" as of Fifth Division in the Red II: Princess Division.

Orihime Inoue is obsessive. It is okay to have an obsessive character. Real life people can be obsessive. It is not okay to say, "Well, she's a girl" or "Well, she's my waifu material" so it is okay. By the way, it is CREEPY the way actual adults have INAPPROPRIATE thoughts over the fifteen-year-old Orihime. She is a character, but she is underage. No adult thoughts on underage people. It's just wrong. Even if she is a character. It is not a pass. GROSSNESS!

No Means No.

No does not mean playing hard to get.

Underage people and underage characters cannot consent to adult activity.

Cannot consent.

Instead of adding at the end of each chapter with new words, I will be updating this as the story goes along. Note that there could be spoilers.

Note that the written Chinese is in Simplified Chinese, though in some cases, it may be the same as its Traditional Chinese counterpart.

Gē (哥), from Gēge (哥哥): Older brother.

Jiāng (江): River. Given name of the Sixth Seat of the Shinnouhi Royal Guard.

Jiě (姐), from Jiějiě (姐姐): Older sister.

Lín (林): Forest. Given name of the Fourth Seat of the Shinnouhi Royal Guard.

Mǔqīn (母亲): Mother (not the only word for it).

Shīfù (师傅) or (师父): This word actually has a lot to explain to it. In Across the Dimensions context, it refers to Shirahime as a martial arts master, specifically of Tai Chi. It is generally written as (师傅), but Uryu and Yuzu address Shirahime as (师父). Yes, I do mean that, even though (父) character is in it. (Note that Sifu, as in the game of the same name, refers to the Cantonese word.)

Tàizǐfēi (太子妃) : Wife of the Crown Prince.
