Author's note: Best laid plans often bite me in the ass. It has been busy and weird. We moved and I just found my laptop charger Monday. I had a second, last minute, surgery Sunday and am now in full gear to get my school year started. I will NOT abandon the story. I may be slow at times, but I will be back. Also, TW or trigger warnings will still be added before those scenes but not if it is just a swat or two or joking around. I'm sorry if that bothers anyone
Kate heard the familiar growl of the Impala's engine. She ran outside but stayed on the porch. She was ecstatic that Dean was back but still owed him a little hell for what he did to her. She'd give him hell even if he didn't do anything.
Dean parked and got out. He leaned against the hood of the impala with his arms crossed and waited for Kate to break.
Kate stomped her foot after a few minutes. She stomped down the stairs and hugged him. "You are supposed to come inside and ask why I'm down."
Dean ruffled her hair. "You aren't down. You are being a brat."
Kate shoved his hand away. "I'm being a brat? I have a right to be a brat. You know how my memory is. I have tried to scrub everything from my head, but it won't happen. I'll remain damaged."
Dean snorted. "You aren't damaged. It was a safety measure."
"Safety my ass. You should have skipped me. You used my abilities for your own gain." Kate said. She screeched and giggled when Dean grabbed her.
Dean tucked her against his hip and landed a few light swats. "Didn't I tell you I didn't want to deal with your sass?"
Kate tried to escape his grip. "No! I survived this whole time alone with dad. You can't do this."
Dean shook his head. "Stop laughing."
Kate dug her fingers into the back of his leg and laughed when he let go of her. "You are mean."
Dean cracked a smile. "You are annoying."
Kate reached out and touched Dean's arm. "I'm going to turn you back into a kid, so you learn some empathy."
Dean moved away from her. "Don't even joke about that."
Kate put her hands on her hips. "You whine and complain that you didn't have a good childhood and I'm just trying to give you a chance to redo it."
Dean grabbed her in a headlock. "I'd kick your butt then and again when I got changed back."
Kate licked his arm so that he would let her go. "You wouldn't get changed back and kid you couldn't beat up kid me because I could just compel you to go away."
"Sam was a good fighter. I know ways of getting the upper hand. It doesn't matter if you have abilities, I'll still do it." Dean sat back on the hood of the impala.
Kate crossed her arms. "If I changed you back into a kid, and you were mean to me, dad would get mad at you. You can't beat up girls."
"So, what." Dean said with a raised eyebrow.
"He'd do the butt kicking and I'd laugh." Kate said.
"No. I'd still be 23 mentally. I'd just be shorter." Dean countered.
Kate raised both eyebrows. "Are you sure? You aren't even 23 mentally now. You're a big baby."
Dean stood up suddenly. "Oh, that does it." He approached a tree and broke off a switch. He peeled it as he approached Kate.
Kate took off running and found safety behind John, who had walked out onto the porch.
"You can't skin her." John said.
Dean acted taken aback. "Did you hear her?"
John smirked. He had heard their entire conversation and it was clear that they missed each other. "I'd say you two are even."
Dean stepped onto the porch. "You are spoiling her. He can't protect you forever." He lightly whacked her with the switch and reached for the door. He immediately stepped back with a sharp intake of breath. "Mother fu-" He didn't have time to register that the peeled stick had been taken out of his hand.
Kate covered her mouth and tried to step away from the oldest two Winchesters, but John got her across the side of her leg with the switch that he pulled from Dean's hand.
Dean was completely and utterly confused. He looked between John and Kate and started to understand. He snorted and held back a laugh. "You transferred that to him when I hit you?"
Kate grinned. "Yeah."
John shook his head with a chuckle. "Welcome home."
Dean grabbed Kate and shoved her through the door. He let out half of a laugh when they were behind the door. "You are insane."
Kate shrugged. "He told you not to hit me."
"I didn't even hit you hard." Dean said.
Kate smiled. "I know, and you still got hit with it. Remember this moment because you need some empathy. If you don't learn from this, you'll wake up as a kid again." "
Dean wrapped his arm around her head and messed up her hair. "I brought you something, but I may give it to someone less annoying."
Kate wriggled away. "What is it?!"
Dean blew air through his nose. "It is in the car and I'm not going back out there."
John leaned against the railing on the porch. "Taylor, do you have anything to say?"
Taylor had thought he was far enough away to stay out of John's sites. "Five or six things but I'm not going to say any of them." He joined John and stood beside him. "Remind you of being young?"
John's lip turned slightly at the edge, betraying a smile he was accustomed to hiding. "Couldn't help yourself?"
"Had that happened years ago, would you have gotten angry?" Taylor asked.
John thought about it. "Probably. They play fight and argue but he's just as excited to be back as she is to have him back. I wouldn't want to rain on that parade."
Taylor sighed. "Things have changed a lot, haven't they?"
"They have." John said. "Everything was just about the same until Kate. Then, things got complicated. She seems to hold the markers we use for the passage of time but I'm glad you're here too."
Taylor looked out over the salvage yard. "Unless I break another door."
John put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Still glad you're here."
(Marie's house)
Charlie was fully immersed in research. She had been all day, but she had sort of skipped dinner. Marie brought food up to her room, but she forgot it was there. She felt like she was about to make a major breakthrough. Cameron was helpful. His parents were helpful. They didn't know enough though. Maybe John had mentioned something about not looking into freak or doctor related things until things cooled off. She was totally listening but reading one link would produce another link and another search. She was so deep that she couldn't remember what she was initially working for. The sun had set hours before and she was starting to feel the first strands of fatigue, clouding her eyes. She startled and spun around in her chair with wide eyes. The door creaked open slowly and the soft light of the computer and lamp gave her a hazy view of a small figure, wrapped in a blanket. "Krissy, you scared me."
Krissy sniffled. "I'm sorry, Charlie."
Charlie moved her chair back and motioned for Krissy to walk over to her. "What is wrong?"
Krissy wiped her eyes. "I had a bad dream."
Charlie picked her up. "Are you okay?"
Krissy shook her head. "I want nana." She had gotten comfortable with referring to Marie and Rod as grandparents and it made her feel a bit better.
Charlie offered to go get Marie but Krissy's hands, although tiny, were strong and she couldn't get her to let go of her. She resituated Krissy and tried to stand up. She could carry her, but the stairs were kind of iffy in the dark. No, she could handle it. She stepped into the hallway and slowly found the top step. She felt her arms start to burn and made a mental note to do some type of exercise because she was certain her arms were just about as strong as wet spaghetti noodles. She let out a quick breath as her feet hit the bottom of the stairs. They survived and she didn't accidentally throw a scared five year old down the stairs. She had to put Krissy down and hold her hand. She so needed that exercise. She gently knocked on Marie and Rod's bedroom door and waited for one of them to open it.
Marie opened the door and rubbed one of her eyes.
"Krissy had a bad dream and wanted you." Charlie said.
Krissy let go of Charlie's hand and let Marie pick her up.
Marie rubbed Krissy's back. "Let's get some water and talk."
Krissy grabbed Charlie's shirt before she could walk away.
Charlie stumbled awkwardly. Apparently, she would be joining them in the kitchen. She wanted to go back to her computer but a few minutes away wouldn't hurt. It could clear her head. What was she looking for? Anything helpful. If she was going to be an evil doctor and test on kids, she wouldn't leave an electronic trail. The kids that Kate saw in her vision were not all from that one set of files. There were more. How could she find a link between them and the others so that they could find the others. Would additional files make things easier? If the others were treated the same, would it matter? What if they were split into specific groups?
Marie sat a cup of hot chocolate in front of Charlie. "You look like you have a lot on your mind."
Charlie blinked. "Oh, yeah. I just want to figure stuff out."
Krissy sat in Marie's lap and sipped her hot chocolate. "About the freaky boys?"
Charlie blushed. "Huh?"
"You said you found some freaky, freaky boys." Krissy said.
Charlie cringed. "I've got to stop talking to myself."
Marie asked what they were talking about.
"I'm not looking at freak stuff. Well, I am but not really. Kind of really. I was reading case studies. A few could be freak related. They are freaky for sure. I may have made that comment while I was reading." Charlie said.
Krissy yawned. "I don't want any of them to get me."
Marie rocked slightly to lull Krissy back to sleep. "Don't worry about that. You are very safe."
Krissy finished off her hot chocolate and melted in Marie's arms. She gave good hugs and made her feel safe.
Marie felt Krissy go limp and smiled. "I'll get her back to her bed. You should go to bed too."
Charlie froze.
"You've done enough on the computer for tonight." Marie said. "It is late, and you need some sleep."
Charlie wasn't sure how to respond. "I can sleep in a little while."
Marie stood up with Krissy in her arms. "Part of being adopted is gaining adoptive parents that care about you. You are mostly free to do as you please but for tonight, you'll go to bed."
Charlie sighed. She was kind of tired. "Okay. I'll shut it down."
Marie carried Krissy up the stairs and placed her in her bed. She covered her and tucked the blankets around her so that she felt snug and safe. She checked on Charlie to make sure that the computer was being turned off. "You are brilliant, and I know you want to figure this out. We want you healthy though. Have a good night and get some sleep."
Charlie stretched. She got into her own bed and rubbed her eyes. "Goodnight."
Marie gave her a small smile and turned the light off. Charlie was still a kid. She just missed out on part of her childhood. She had to survive by herself. They wanted her to relax and soak in the next few years at a different pace. Even after 18, they'd still support her. As long as she wanted to stick around, she'd be more than welcome.
(Mid-day the next day, Marie's house)
Charlie had been given tasks that she thought were designed to keep her away from her computer. Marie was worried and Charlie understood. She still wanted to dive back into research though. Her big task was to mark bunnies. She was totally okay with that. They were soft and fuzzy. She got to see firsthand what people meant by multiplying like bunnies. One of the male rabbits escaped his enclosure and that resulted in two surprise litters. Sitting on the ground in the bunny enclosure meant having hoppy, baby bunnies all over her legs. She would be sad when they went to their new homes.
Rod handed Charlie a white and gray bunny. "Boy."
Charlie gently used a marker to color the tip of his ear blue. She did the same several more times as Rod handed her the rabbits.
Krissy, of course, was helping Rod. She sat down to hold a particularly small bunny that had patches of white and black.
Rod watched Krissy. He already knew they would be keeping that one. She always wanted to hold that one. It was the runt and loved to be held. He didn't know when Krissy would leave and when she would be back, but they'd figure out the bunny situation when they got to that point.
Marie got a call from Lee and walked out to the barn. She told Krissy to follow her and walked her back to the house.
Rod followed too and encouraged Charlie to walk with him. "Her dad is about to be here."
Charlie smiled. She was happy for Krissy.
Krissy didn't recognize the car driving down the road, but she nearly bolted off the steps when she saw her dad's face. She fought against Rod's grip and took off as the car door opened. "Daddy!"
Lee caught her as she jumped. He squeezed her in a tight hug. "I've missed you."
Krissy was so happy that she started to cry.
Lee abandoned his bag in the car and carried Krissy back to the house. He thanked Marie and Rod and was grateful that he was offered a nice lunch. He was starving. He ate lunch with the family although Krissy was still attached to him. She was bright eyed and healthy. He didn't expect anything less but leaving her was hard for him.
Krissy asked Lee about his hunts, but he didn't say much. Grown-ups normally didn't say much about that stuff. She wasn't just a scared little kid. She knew bad stuff was out there.
Charlie went back to her research as the welcome party dissipated. She needed a social break anyway. Questionable medical practices in the name of science were not a new thing. A lot of research was good. A lot was probably not ethical. The freak doctor didn't have a moral compass it seemed. Why would he test on kids if most of his fame came from helping kids? Was he initially trying to do something good? The doctor's trail was hard to follow. He used different names, so she wasn't sure which one was his birth name. She stumbled upon the name of a wealthy family. They looked like pompous jerks. The Stein family was big and old. They were weird enough that a tiny article was written about them. There were big articles about their charitable works but the little one claimed they killed people. That got Charlie's attention. She looked at photos and knew something was off. She recognized something but didn't know what it was. Kate, she needed to call Kate.
Kate answered. "Hey, Charlie. What's up?"
Charlie explained her findings. "Maybe I'm crazy. I have been looking at this for a few hours."
Kate asked to borrow Bobby's computer and looked up the article. "Spooky. Sounds witchy to me."
Charlie chewed her cheek. "They could be normal, and this person just doesn't like them."
"That is an odd claim if they just didn't like them. It seems kind of specific." Kate said.
John joined Kate to look at the computer. "What is this from?"
Krissy found Charlie and looked at her version of the article. She couldn't really read so she didn't know what it said but her dad had to shower or something, so she wanted to be with Charlie.
"I was looking at one thing and fell down this rabbit hole." Charlie said.
"What were you looking for?" John asked.
"Oh, you know... stuff. Things and stuff. I'm big on reading random things." Charlie said, sheepishly.
John sighed. "Did I not tell you to hold off on this?" His tone was firm but not harsh.
Charlie froze. She did not do well with conflict.
Krissy was worried about Charlie and took her phone. "You can't yell at her. You can't be mean to Charlie."
John rubbed the back of his neck. "Give her the phone back."
Krissy stepped away from Charlie. "No. Kids don't like being yelled at all the time and you can't just go doing that to everyone."
John listened to a few more moments of Krissy's rant before Lee heard her and took the phone away.
"I am so sorry." Lee said.
John chuckled. His eyes twinkled and he shook his head. "I wish you the best of luck with her."
Lee glared at Krissy. "She knows better."
"She thought I yelled at Charlie." John said. "Don't be too hard on her."
Kate snapped her head up and gave John a confused look. Who was he?
John flicked her head. "If you don't mind, we still need to talk to Charlie."
Lee gave Charlie the phone and escorted Krissy out of the room. He'd need luck because she was a handful.
Charlie took a deep breath. "I wasn't looking for anything specific."
"I didn't say you were." John said. "I am going to tell you to stop though. If you become obsessive about this stuff, it can harm you."
"I found so much, though." Charlie said with a dejected tone.
"Send it to Kate and I'll take a look at it. We don't know how this doctor does the tech side of it all. You'd know more about that." John admitted.
Charlie relented and sent Kate an email with links. He was at least a little bit right. She just couldn't handle the tone he used.
(Bobby's house)
Kate raised an eyebrow when the phone call ended.
John took in a slow breath. "What?"
"Krissy gives you a lecture and you laugh?" Kate asked.
"She isn't my kid." John said, opening the email.
"Andy isn't either." Kate countered.
"I've only dealt with him once or twice. Krissy is two hours away. What would you have preferred that I do?" John asked.
Kate smirked. "Oh, nothing. I'm all for this new gentle side you've been showing. I just want to know if it is because she is an adorable little girl."
"No." John said, simply.
Kate scoffed but didn't say anything else about it. He did have a soft spot. He just wanted to think that he didn't. She hoped that she'd get nieces and nephews one day. She wanted at least one more girl in the family. She didn't think John would be able to cope. He'd totally flip the script and be the relaxed one.
(Sam and Jess)
Sam had been having dreams for about a week. They were about his mom. They were peaceful. The night before, however, he had a strangely vivid dream and got to talk to her. He woke up to his pendant glowing and truly felt like he was being wrapped in her arms. He made it through his classes but couldn't shake the conversation or the glowing pendant. He also kept seeing what he thought were signs. A butterfly landed on his knee when he was sitting in the courtyard. A paper blew across the street to land at his feet. None of it scared him.
Jess finished classes as well. She did notice Sam seemed to be somewhere else. He looked pensive or like he was deep in thought. He kind of always looked that way. "Is everything okay?"
Sam smiled. "Yes. Everything is okay. I just need to do something."
Jess watched him pack a backpack and bumble around the apartment. She was amused because he just seemed more silly than normal.
Sam tossed the backpack over his shoulder and returned to the living room. "Oh, you'll need hiking shoes."
Jess made the quick change and followed Sam outside. "Where are we going?"
Sam bent down to grab Milo and tucked him into his shirt. The bus system wasn't pet friendly, but Milo could be hidden easily.
Jess followed along. She was confused but would follow him anywhere.
As they reached their destination, Sam signaled the bus driver to stop. He waited for Jess to make it off the bus and handed her the cat. He dug around in the pack and produced a small harness. Milo had been taught to walk with a leash and it was a big hit with other college kids and old ladies that lived in their neighborhood. He tried to be casual as they hiked up the trail. They finally reached the spot that they found Milo at. Sam put him down on the ground after carrying him most of the way. He wasn't sure if Milo's legs were just too small or if he was just too spoiled.
Jess poured water in a small bowl and gave it to Milo. He had been the perfect addition to the house. She just wasn't sure why Sam had rushed them out on a hike.
Sam paced for a moment. Winchesters were fearless. No, that was a lie. They acted fearless. He spun around on his heel and chewed his lip for a moment. "I have something to talk to you about."
Jess's eyes widened. "We aren't leaving him here."
Sam cracked a smile. "No. You'd leave me here and take him back home." He sat down on a large rock and took a deep breath. "I've had dreams. Maybe they are visions."
Jess slowly sat beside him. "Do you think your abilities are coming back?"
Sam shook his head. "I think a small bit stayed behind. This may just be my own head making things up."
Jess put a gentle hand on his leg. "What kind of visions?"
"They are mostly about my mom. I think the necklace that Kate gave me has something to do with it since it holds some of her warmth or whatever." Sam said.
"Are they bad?" Jess asked.
"No." He ran his fingers through his hair. "I've been having dreams that I can talk to her. Then, I woke up to my pendant glowing. I think I've been seeing signs too."
At this point, Jess was concerned. Was Mary coming back? Was he seeing demon signs?
"My dad told me a story about using a magic 8 ball to make a decision. I found that funny because I couldn't see him doing something like that. I saw a butterfly. How weird is that? So, maybe my way isn't so different than shaking a magic 8 ball." Sam said. He was rambling. The glowing pendant was a true sign but that one was obvious.
Jess slowly nodded. "I think I am following."
Sam shoved his hand into his pocket. He winced as Milo climbed his pants leg. That was a shock back to reality. Once Milo was settled, he took another deep breath. "At Taylor's birthday party, my dad gave me something. We had a talk. That is when he told me about the magic 8 ball. Most of our story revolves around my mom. He was devastated when she died. It changed his entire life. Everyone in the family likes you." He moved his hand from his pocket. "I've been waiting for the right moment, and I think I got my mom's blessing."
Jess caught on and squeaked excitedly.
Sam opened his palm and showed her the ring. "Will you marry me?"
Jess forgot Milo was between them and quickly hugged Sam. "Yes!"
Sam winced again. He felt Milo's teeth on the underside of his arm and pulled him back. "I'm not hurting her."
Jess sat back. She moved Milo to the ground and scooted closer to Sam.
"This is my mom's ring." Sam said. She quickly added. "That night, she had taken it off to give one of us a bath."
Jess carefully picked it up. "Your dad gave you this?"
"I was surprised. I thought it would go to Dean or just stay in a box." He took it from her and slid it onto her finger. "It fits."
Jess held her hand to her chest. "Oh Sam."
Sam pulled her to him. "The tears are a good thing, right?"
Jess fanned her face. "Yes. I'd say yes if you gave me a straw ring, but this is so special. I feel like I don't deserve this."
"My dad isn't known for saying or doing things that he doesn't think are accurate. I think you deserve it but so did dad and Dean. You stayed after all that has happened. You adapt. I think I was told that I'd be an idiot not to marry you." Sam said.
Jess picked Milo up so that he would stop trying to climb them. "Let's elope."
Sam smiled brightly. "I don't think Marie, Karen or Kate would let us do that." He paused. "I know we are young. It just seemed right. We don't have to get married right away."
Jess kissed him. "Shh, let me enjoy the moment." She studied the ring on her finger. She felt a little more connected to Mary. She had flashes of what the next few months or years would look like. She frowned for a moment. "I don't have anyone to call."
Sam pulled his phone out. "You have a lot of people. Do you want to be the one to tell Kate?"
Jess grinned. "We will tell them and then wait until we get home for the rest. I don't want to share the good news all at once and ruin my fun."
"Plus, it is going to kill Kate to have to keep it a secret." Sam said.
Jess playfully shoved him. "She will just have to keep it a secret from Marie and April."
"And Jody." Sam said.
Jess dialed Kate's number. Sam could have called John, but Kate would have the best reaction. Dean would be a smartass. She almost fainted waiting for her to pick up the phone.
Kate answered. She was always happy when Jess called.
Dean was in the same room that Kate was and cringed as her voice reached a higher pitch. Was she dying? Was she happy? What the hell? Why did girls do that?
Kate bounced up and down on her toes. "Dean! They are getting married!"
Dean furrowed his brows for a second. "Sam?"
Kate rolled her eyes. "Yes."
Dean smirked. "It's about damn time you asked her."
Jess smiled. Yep, she knew he'd be smartass.
Sam took over part of the conversation. Kate was still amped up and talking so fast that he wasn't sure what she was saying. Jess did. He said a few things to Dean, but the rest was a blur. "Kate...Kate!"
Kate took a breath. "Huh?"
"Where is dad?" Sam asked.
Kate froze. She looked around and started to run outside. Dean stopped her.
"No. Don't go running out there acting like that. Let them tell him." Dean said.
Kate let Dean carry the phone but couldn't control the happy dance she was doing. She'd have to call Jess back when the guys weren't around. Then, they could talk about details.
John looked up from the engine of his truck as Kate and Dean approached him. Kate was excited about something.
Dean handed the phone over and stepped back.
John smiled a genuine smile after Sam told him the news. "Congratulations."
Kate tiptoed to be closer to the phone. "He is smiling. Don't let the tone fool you."
John moved back. "Jess, I was waiting around for him to ask you. I hope the ring was okay."
Jess said it was more than okay and incredibly special to her.
"You gave him the ring?" Kate asked. "I didn't know!"
Dean covered her mouth. "Because you don't know how to hush."
John was bad at small talk. He truly was happy for both of them. Jess was a good addition.
Kate whined. "I need my phone to talk to Jess."
John stepped back again. "No. You need to give her a chance to process before you bombard her with all of this."
Kate frowned. "I'll wait an hour."
John ended the conversation with Sam and Jess. They did need time to enjoy the moment. "I'm going to use your phone to call mine because I don't know where I put it."
Kate pulled a face. It wasn't like John to lose things. She wanted to tell Hannah. She knew Jess wouldn't mind if she told her. "Can't you use Dean's?" She saw Taylor and took off to share the news. She had been given the go ahead to tell him but not Bobby and Karen. She jumped on his back. "Guess what?"
Taylor grunted. "What?"
"Sam asked Jess to marry him!" Kate said.
Taylor smiled. "Finally."
Kate started to comment but John's raised voice froze her.
"Katelyn Amelia, get over here, now." John said.
Kate spun around and tentatively walked back to him.
John turned the phone around. "Why is my name in your phone saved to this?"
Kate looked at the phone in horror. "What? I didn't set it to 'controlling asshole.' Dad, I wouldn't do that."
"Was it after I grounded you?" John asked in a low tone.
Kate tried to take the phone to get another look at it, but John pulled it away. "Someone had to do that. I didn't. I promise. It was just saved as dad."
John eyed her. "Have you left your phone unattended?"
Kate's eyes darted around. No, she hadn't. "Taylor?"
Taylor held his hands up. "I didn't do that."
John looked through her other contacts and found an interesting name for Dean too. "Is this how you really feel?"
Kate's mouth was dry. "I didn't... dad... come on."
"Is this why you wanted me to use Dean's phone?" John asked.
Kate swallowed hard. "No... I... I wanted to call Hannah." She started to step back when he put the phone in his pocket. "Dad... daddy, I promise I didn't do that."
Dean rolled his eyes. "Funny that she only calls you that when she has done something."
John let Kate panic for a moment before leaning back against his truck. He got her phone back out and punched buttons.
Kate was equal parts confused and horrified.
John fixed his contact but left Dean's the way it was. He held the phone out to Kate and nodded so that she would take it. He lightly cuffed Dean on the back of the head. "You said you were going to change the name. I didn't say you could call me that."
Dean grinned. "I was thinking like Kate."
Kate's mouth fell open. She stomped her foot and glared at Dean. "You?!"
Dean held her back as she tried to smack him. "The look on your face."
Kate growled and tried hitting him again. "You are insane! You almost got me killed. How did you do it?"
Dean scoffed. "He knew it was a prank. I've been planning it for a while. I enlisted Cas's help in getting the phone out of your room and back without you knowing."
Kate couldn't believe that he had gotten one over on her. She was usually pranking him. "I'm so mad at you."
Dean laughed. "This is just payback."
"You have started a war you won't win." Kate said, giving into her laughter.
Dean held both of her arms and looked her in the eye. "You can't retaliate for this one."
Kate looked to John. "Seriously? You are banning me from this?"
John nodded. "Just this one."
Kate whined and bounced on her toes. "Dad. Come on. This wasn't fair."
John just smiled slightly and left them to work it out. The oldest and youngest were trying to kill each other, but both were laughing. Taylor was in good spirits. Sam and Jess were experiencing a wonderful time in their lives and things were quiet on the supernatural front. He was content and he wasn't used to feeling like that. Typical Winchester paranoia told him not to let his guard down, but that day, that day was good.
