Summary: Growing up, Luz was told a story about a Phoenix. She never knew why her mom would always tell her this, but one thing would stick in her mind. A Phoenix rises from the ashes, born again. From the ashes, Luz rises, born again... like a Phoenix.

Eda looked on in horror as her magic wasn't strong enough to fight Lilith's. The spell keeping Luz from complete death... was gone. Luz had a massive spike going through her chest. Eda started crying, even Lilith looked shocked, but shook it off.

"Well, now that your little pet is out of the picture, let's get you inside before your curse takes you over."

Eda looked at Lilith, with both tears and anger in her eyes.

"You don't even care that you just killed a child!?"

"Please, she didn't belong here to begin with." Lilith pointed her staff at Eda, "Now, either you give up and swear allegiance to the Emperor, or I can't guarantee your safety."

Eda's breathing went from soft to heavy and she grabbed her staff.

"You... fucking... monster!"

Lilith sighed.

"I guess you'll be seeing her again soon." Lilith said.

"If I die, then I'm taking you with me!"

The two charge at each other. While that was happening, Luz was taking her final breaths.

"Goodbye... Mami." She said.

Her final thoughts were of when she was a child, no more than five. Her mom read her the story of the ancient myth, known as a Phoenix. Luz has always found the supernatural and fantasy to be amazing, but the one thing she always liked the most, even more than witches, was the Phoenix. Reborn from the ashes, she could really use that right now.

"Reborn... from the... ashes." Luz said.

She let out her final breath... and then breathed it back in. On the bridge, Eda and Lilith were breathing heavily. Eda looked at her gem, seeing that the black color was taking over, fast. If she didn't stop now, she'll have about a minute before her curse takes her over.

"Just give up, Edalyn! It's over! Your Human is dead! Your curse is going to take over! You don't have anything left!"

"You're wrong. I have one thing left." Eda said, "I have to kill you!"

They charged at each other again, only this time, something broke though the bottom of the bridge. Lilith and Eda were knocked back, in opposite directions on the bridge. Lilith started to pick herself up while coughing. She looked at the dust and smoke and saw to eyes... two red and orange eyes. Lilith felt panic rise in her chest and quickly got up. She grabbed her staff and pointed it at the creature in dust cloud. Lilith started to back up when the creature started talking.

"Through the ashes of yesterday, I am reborn. Stronger. Faster. More Powerful."

The creature stepped out of the cloud. Lilith was horrified, Eda was surprised, and Luz... was on fire. Well, more like her hair was... made of fire. Luz held out her arms, which were red from below the elbows, and they caught fire. The orange flames that were getting close to Lilith, made her afraid. Luz succeeded in making her afraid, which is what she wanted... even though she was completely on auto-pilot and won't remember this. She extinguished her arms and then punched Lilith, sending her into the wall of the castle. Lilith landed on the ground, hard, almost knocking all the air out of her. Luz ran at her with speed never before seen, and held her against the wall by her throat.

"Death means nothing to me. Every day I die, and I am reborn. Like a sun rising and setting, I am endless."

Luz dropped Lilith and ran over to Eda. She picked her up, grabbed Eda's staff, and jumped into the air. She flew away and Lilith collapsed. Inside the castle, Belos watched from a window.

"So, the Phoenix has risen." He said, "This will certainly change things."
