Part 37
Three months later
Barry kissed Caitlin in the garden. She smiled at him when they broke apart.
"Barry, I really should head to my room. Tomorrow is going to be a long day, and a big one for both of us."
"I know. Your Aunt Vickie stayed home to keep an eye on your father's kingdom?"
"Yes much like Jay and Joan did for Charlie's wedding. Crystal and Sarah are part of the wedding party."
"Well a kingdom Can't run itself."
"Very true."
They kissed again then Caitlin headed for her room. Barry watched her go with a smile.
"You really do love her don't you?"
Barry turned to see his mother standing behind him.
"I do. Everyone is wrong about her. Cait is not an ice witch. She is a warm and caring woman."
"You know her mother wanted to find a way to get rid of her gifts. That it was Carla that told her that her powers were a curse."
"Her powers are no more a curse than mine are. They are gifts. We were chosen to have theses gifts."
"Carla didn't believe that. But I think that you have convinced Caitlin that her powers are not the curse her mother believed them to be."
"Well it will be interesting when we have kids. I mean from what Cait told me only girls can inherit her powers. But both could inherit mine."
"Honey, it doesn't matter which of you if either your future kids inherit powers from. They will be loved that is the most important thing."
"Thanks mom. Now I am going to try and get some sleep."
"Goodnight my beautiful boy."
Barry headed off to bed with Nora watching him. She felt strong arms wrap around her. She turned to find her husband.
"So is our son ready for tomorrow?" asked Henry
"I believe so. Though he is already thinking about having a family with Caitlin."
"Some how I think that Caitlin will be happier about being a mother then her mother was."
"She will also be as hands on as she can be. Unlike Carla who never wanted anything to do with her children."
"Caitlin is nothing like her mother. She has already warmed up in the time she has been here."
"Very true. We should get to bed tomorrow is going to be a very long day."
Caitlin woke early the day of her wedding. She couldn't hide the smile that spread across her face. Today she was going to marry the only man she had ever opened her heart to. The only man that could break through the ice wall she had built around herself.
"Good morning Princess."
Caitlin smiled at her childhood maid.
"Morning."
"It is nice to see you smile. You didn't do that much as a child."
"Well I am going to marry the man that I love. While this started as a possible arrangement for help with Zoom. It is not now the reason I am marrying him."
"You don't know how happy it makes me to see you in love."
"Sarah, you know there were times when I was a child I wished you were my mom. I know that it was not possible. But you were the one that taught me about growing up."
"Well someone had too. The gods know that your mother was not going to."
"Did your daughter come with you?"
"No she stayed home. But she wishes you well."
"Is there anyone she has shown interest in?"
"One of the palace guards has spent some time with her."
"My father only has good men protecting the palace."
"I know. You should know that it was officially announced last week that Princess Erin is expecting. Though I think you already knew that."
"I did. I knew at her and Charlie's wedding."
"That does not surprise me. Your brother and Erin have loved each other since they were children."
"I know. But I think we should get to work. We have a lot to do in order for me to be ready on time for my wedding."
"You do know that they can not start without you."
"I know but you know I hate to be late."
"Yes I do."
Caitlin got out of bed and headed into the bathroom to start getting ready for her wedding.
Barry sighed as he looked at his military uniform. A uniform he only had because he was the crowned prince of the Central Kingdom he was given one with a bunch of medals he had not earned. He looked up when the door to his suite opened and Charlie walked in.
"Hey Charlie."
"Hi Barry. I wanted to talk to you for a few minutes if that is ok."
"Yeah of course."
"I just want to make sure that you know that my sister has never been close to a guy before you."
"Cait told me. Charlie, I know you are just trying to be a good brother. But I will never intentionally hurt your sister."
"I already knew that. I was the one that suggested that you would be a good match for Caitlin. Barry just keep making my sister happy."
"That is my plan."
"Good."
Caitlin paced in her room. It was less then an hour until she would be getting married. She never thought this day would come and she would be happy about it. She almost believed that she would end up in the same loveless marriage her parents had been in. She looked over at the door when it opened and smiled at Nora as she walked in.
"Caitlin you look beautiful. My son is not going to be speechless when he sees you."
"You really think so?"
"I know so. He is much like his father. The main reason I came to see you is that I know you have never been with a man. I want to know if you have any questions."
"I know how it happens."
"You know Barry is not going to force you until you are ready."
"I know. Nora, I also know that I can't wait forever. That Barry will need to have an heir."
"There is no rush. Henry isn't planning on going anywhere any time soon."
"I know. But I also think it is important for the people to know that the line of succession is secure."
"No one is going to worry about that. When you are ready then you and my son can work on giving this kingdom a little princess or prince. Unlike you mother's belief here the first born child that you have will be the next to rule after Barry."
"Barry told me."
"You are going to be a good mother Caitlin when the time comes."
"Maybe not as good as you. But better than my mother was."
There was a knock just then and Sarah stuck her head in.
"It's time." Said Sarah
Caitlin nodded and took a deep breath before heading out.
