Subaru squared his shoulders and shouted out to Stormfront, "Would that please you stormfront!?" He said the words again, even louder this time.
Despite what happened and what stormfront did to him, Subaru did not feel betrayed by her. Instead he felt respected and trusted, as if Stormfront believed in him to overcome any challenge or test she presented him with. He would never complain about the situation - regardless of what happened - because this trust meant more to him than anything else ... but.
——Does she fancy seeing me in pain?
Subaru surveyed his own mind with a heavy heart. He knew it was selfish, but he couldn't help but wonder if Stormfront found pleasure in the pain she inflicted on him. Insecurity crept up like a tidal wave, threatening to drown him beneath the waves of uncertainty —he wanted an answer to one question - did his name exist on her list of people who deserved pain? It felt as though this thought alone would haunt him indefinitely unless he put it aside or found out for himself, but he choose the later he hates to live with this question for long he needs to know he needs to find out.
"Stormfront Please... just answer no or yes, I want to kn-".
"Enough," Stormfront replied, turning back her face to him. Her expression was livid with anger. "Are you a fool or what? Don't you know how many years I wasted caring for you? Don't you know how much I suffered in protecting your existence and hiding you from the world?" She stared at him incredulously before continuing, her voice rising with every word. "Don't you also know how many of who knows who I had to kill along the way !?- it was fucking lot!"
Suddenly She started walking towards him, her eyes intense and searching his face. Subaru felt a strange combination of shame and fear rise within him as she stepped closer, her hands coming to rest against his bare chest. He wanted desperately for the words he'd heard in reply to be true— it would mean that she still cared for him despite what had happened - why else would she be so angry otherwise? But at the same time he was scared of himself - why did he even doubt someone who had never given him a reason before now?.
——what a big fool I am.
She looked away from his eyes, resting her forehead against his shoulder instead, a move that totally caught subaru of guard feeling like wanting to say something Subaru's mouth quivered.
but then stormfront held up a hand to quiet him. "Be silent you idiot. You already said enough. Just ... please let me rest on you like this for a second, then maybe I could forgive you".
that was it. He wouldn't say a word as she asked, but instead Subaru held her tight with both arms, his embrace almost possessive. And the best this is that she didn't complain as He felt her warmth against him and the weight of her body in his arms.
The scent from the flowers filled their nostrils while the sounds of birds chirping and trilling echoed through the woods as a reminder that life near this mountain was at peace, happy even - just like they were or at least just him. He could not believe how lucky he was to have been given this chance to be alone with someone he loved so much even after everything happened, now surrounded by nature's beauty and such peacefulness - what more did one ever need in life?.
...
But like all beautiful moments between two people, this one ended as abruptly as it began; with a deafening explosion sounding deep from within the earth below them. The sudden shock of earthquake that followed jolted both from their blissful repose. Instinctively they gasped for air, separating immediately in surprise and treitivity at what had just occurred beneath them.
Subaru furrowed his brow as he looked to the mountain then to the ground beneath them, a faint orange light glinting off the lenses of his eyes. "I can't see anything using my x-ray vision," he said wryly to Stormfront, using a small but confident tilt of his head to indicate the mountain and lands surrounding them.
"Whatever material you used here to build this facility – it works just perfectly great." He allowed himself an affable chuckle before looking up at Stormfront again in search of guidance on how best to proceed next.
Subaru, as always he quickly regained his composure and began to search for solutions or stormfront guidance. And the later watched him with admiration--this was one of his most important qualities that's for sure.
Even she had been surprised by what had happened; something like this should not have been possible, and while she wasn't sure exactly how it transpired or why it happened, there were certain things that could be concluded without much thought: John who she trusted the most only second to subaru and every other member of her most valuable workers who worked on a really important super secret project underground that even she dosen't know much about, were all in danger now and she urgently need to do something about it.
She reached out to Subaru with a reassuring hand on his shoulder before saying.
"Subaru listen, There are fifty-one people inside, and that number includes John as well. Please for me, you have to save them all without exception." Her eyes were hard like ice chips reflecting the intensity of her resolve. There was an air of urgency about her - this request was too important for mistakes or failures to be considered acceptable options.
Her hands released their grip on Subaru's shoulder gently but firmly before she took a few steps backward from him in preparation for whatever action he might take next as if to support it with determination from afar.
After a brief pause, Subaru pressed his lips together in determination and rose to his feet. His eyes glowed orange brighter than ever before as he declared: "Okay Stormfront! Don't worry; it's all going to be alright. I'm confident in myself; with my strength, nothing can stop me."
He then seemed almost supernatural as he took off from the ground at lightning speed – rocketing into the sky and shattering through the sound barriers. It was like watching an orange war-head on it's way into space- determined, unafraid and and unstoppable.
...
Subaru's lips curled into a smile as he felt the chill of the exosphere. He drifted weightless, completely exposed to the elements; with nothing shielding him from their wrath but his own skin. Yet despite it all, he remained unaffected by its hostile environment – an anomaly in its untouched domain. His eyes sparkled mischievously and he chuckled softly at his feat of bravery – "It's kinda cold up here," Subaru said amusedly as he floated on the borderline between Earth and outer space.
"Thought I can't deny the beauty of what my eyes are seeing"
Then he looked down to the blue planet Earth, its forests and mountains a blanket of green from his stellar height. He felt reverence for the beauty before him, and he was reminded of why he loved space so much: the peace it offered seemed unparalleled by anything down below.
But now was not a time for leisure - Subaru steeled himself mentally with an internal command. His eyes blazing orange in response to his inner strength, Subaru opened up his super-sight vision to hone in on one particular area; looking intently at the forest and mountain range where he had just moments ago taken off from.
"Found It !"
Subaru let out a triumphant smile as he finally found his target. He had been searching for a weak empty spot of the facility underground structure in order to gain entry without causing any unnecessary destruction.
And With careful determination, he searched diligently until he located the smallest and frailest weak point which would be weak enough to not easily collapse under his own physical strength and cause a domino effect, therefore a real risk to anyone inside when he crash into it. His mission was almost completed; all that remained now was entering through this fragile aperture with absolute precision power and speed facing whatever problem that caused the explosion.
Subaru told himself firmly, "Alright, Subaru—let's not let them wait for long. Stormfront is counting on you."
His eyes narrowed and he shifted his body in a striking stance as he visualized the exact point on Earth beneath him that was his destination.
Then with a mighty roar like an immense firework display, Subaru launched from space into an incredible descent towards Earth. All around him whizzed strange objects as his power and force of gravity pulled him closer and closer to the ground without respite. He burned through the atmosphere like a blazing comet; and in mere moments there was no denying it—he had collided with the ground.
...
Subaru looked up from his position in the room underground, pride swelling within him as he took in the burning hole now visible at the roof.
—— Well that was clean, he thought confidently to himself, a satisfied feeling of accomplishment washing over him. He had done it - performed an accurate calculation for once and successfully broken into this place beneath ground level and cleanly so.
Pleased with himself, Subaru allowed a smile to spread across his face as he shook off any remnants of dirt or grime still clinging to his clothes when he suddenly realized that all his remaining clothes are burned and now left naked, and immediately he found a few clothes scattered around the room wishe happened to be a lame black and orange tracksuit that he just hate for some reason but seeing no alternative, despite of himself he wore them before beginning his rescue mission.
Subaru raced through the facility, his superhuman speed creating a gust of wind that could be felt in nearby rooms. His feet barely touching the ground like a terrifying ghost as he rocketed through, and with each new room he entered his eyes widened further in amazement at its sheer size.
"This facility is huge! For real I just did days of work in few a minutes and still found nothing or anyone! " He muttered to himself as he continued on, making sure not to miss any nooks or crannies along the way where someone may have been trapped or needing help.
He used all of his enhanced senses and reflexes to make sure no one was left behind – anyone who needed rescue would not remain unobserved by him.
"Someone finally!"
Suddenly the sound of a loud voice pierced through his concentration. Up ahead he could make out silhouettes of men talking in one room and as he slowly crept closer he began to make out the conversation.
"We need to move out of here fast or else where getting caught," one man said urgently, his face contorted with worry.
The other man nodded, his brow furrowed in agreement. "You're right, we can't stay here much longer," he said.
Then the first man spoke again, this time with a hint of fear in his voice, "If that ghost lady gets to us we are dead"
"Ghost lady?"
Subaru stopped short as the two men scrambled away from him, their eyes wide with fear and confusion. "Whoa there," he said, his voice booming in the quiet of the dark room. He lifted his hands slowly to show that he meant no harm.
"Sorry guys," he continued apologetically, as they both stumbled back into each other in alarm at his sudden appearance. "You need not fear anything--I am here to save you." As Subaru realized what had happened - how loudly he'd spoken and scared an already frightened pair - a new kind of chill ran through him; ——what could cause this grown up men to be this jumpy?.
While the first man still shiting himself the second man, had already regained his composure, as he asked in surprise: "Save us? Wait aren't you the Maverick!?"
Subaru smiled widely in response. His cheeks were glowing with a triumphant light and he spoke proudly: "Yes, it is I! Of blood and flesh have I come to save thee! And Stormfront - ah yes! 'Twas she who sent me here to deliver ye all from danger's grasp. An angel hath she been—so worried for thy welfare!"
"Why are you suddenly talking like that?" The second man asked, dumbfounded. Even the first man stopped shaking and stared at Subaru strangely.
"No Idea," Subaru answered with denial while triumphantly thinking in his head, —— 'Rule 98 of the Heroes' Instruction Manual: To save civilians, always find a way; to entertain frightened people, no matter how embarrassing it may be.' DONE!
Then He cleared his throat before continuing on normally as if nothing happened earlier moments ago.
"So, as I was saying," Subaru began. "I am the hero known as the maverick and I think you two would recognize me since you apparently works for stormfront, and I'm on a mission to save all the people trapped here inside this facility, but first would you two be kind and tell me –what is exactly happening here?"
He glanced at them expectantly, waiting for a response.
The two men exchanged bewildered looks before finally one of them spoke up. "Uh, well since it's miss stormfront who sent you ... then I guess it's okay to tell you" said the second man.
Subaru nodded eagerly. "Yes! And please hurry up we don't have time to waste " He paused for a moment before continuing, his voice low. " as you know there's others need to be saved".
"...May god help us" said the first man
It seems like the two men are experiencing a feeling of unease and fear after Subaru's last words or the way he said them. The second man, in particular, recognizes Subaru from a previous encounter and it's just happened to be one of Subaru's assassination missions and of course the man is still afraid thought subaru don't remember him anyway but he could if he tried.
The man's thought about escaping from a ghost only to meet a demon reflects his perception of Subaru as a dangerous and possibly malevolent being. However, it's mentioned previously that this time Subaru al least is not harboring any evil intent.
And Given these circumstances, it's understandable that the two men may feel anxious. If they believe they need help, they may seek comfort and guidance from a higher power, as mentioned with the phrase "May God help us." It's important for them to assess the situation and make decisions accordingly to ensure their safety and well-being... but this time there is only subaru to relay on to survive and so.
Both men looked at each other for a short while, and after it ended, they both suddenly nodded to each other, and when they turned towards Subaru, the second man said, "When we were working on a secret project in this place, suddenly we started experiencing some bizarre events - distant, feminine whispers, flickering lights, shadowy figures darting in the corridors of the facility. And just a few minutes ago, the shadow of a lady covered in darkness she seemed like a ghost as she emerged, the–
"Then she started to swallow everyone in her darkness... !!" The first man jumped up and said, terrified as if living the experience once again, seeing the fear overwhelming his companion. The second man put his arm gently around him to calm him down.
Subaru can sense their fear, anxiety, and terror through one of his many abilities, and because he senses that, Subaru decides to drop the topic, even though it could be the difference between life and death. Knowing what he is up against, "Don't worry, guys. As long as I'm here, that so-called ghost will not come to you with any significant harm I guarantee you that," Subaru said proudly, hitting his chest with his fist as if to emphasize his magnificence and solidity.
Indeed Subaru, as usual, will take his chances to face danger blindly, and this is a great statement of his confidence in himself and his overwhelming strength...but now.
"Now with the pep talk out of the way, I think it's time for you both to see the sun again."
"Whahaaaaaaaa!?"
Not allowing them to say anything back, Subaru surprised the two men by carrying them with great ease, each in a tightly held arm, and then stood upright with a serious face as he looked at the way he had come from.
One of the two men, looking at Subaru's face, said tremblingly, "I don't like where this is going".
"What do you mean by th–
"Please close your mouths and close your eyes, and hold your breath but do not worry about falling, for I am holding you well." The second man tried to ask his frightened friend, but Subaru interrupted him with several sudden instructions.
Then what looked like orange radiant energy began to emanate from Subaru, like a smoke, surrounding both of the men hanging from his arms, who began to writhe, alarmed seeing that phenomenal.
"Calm down, guys." Subaru couldn't help but laugh a little at their surprised faces as he continued by saying, "That energy is just to ensure that nothing bad happens to you when I start accelerating... just think of it as a protective barrier or something."
"Oh I see," the second man replied, sighing in relief while the second man did not look at all at ease as it was evident from his trembling. ——that person really needs to chill out a little. Subaru thought a little annoyed but not at all concerned.
"well buckle up guys because its time to roll!" With that said, Subaru took one step forward and then another step followed by another step, and then around him everything suddenly went blurry even the faces of the two men as if they were frozen in time with an expression of either fear or anticipation, then after a few moments As Subaru took several steps and turns around the facility.
" we finally arrived guy's".
