In Encanto, it has been a few months after the latest video vlog from Mirabel. Young Antonio finally got his gift, which is talking to animals, and Dolores and Mariano are finally married. The two lovebirds were out for their honeymoon at the outside of Encanto. A month ago, the Madrigals and Guzmáns have discovered a secret tunnel in the mountains that leads to the outside of their home. They were surprised by this, but Alma... she was afraid of going out there. Fearing the raiders might be out there or not.
One day, while the family were waiting for Dolores and Mariano to return, Rosa was in her room looking at the dreamcatcher of Mirabel. She still has been holding onto to it ever since and has been staring at it for a while.
"It's been a while since your last video log, Mirabel. A lot has change. Good change. Sometimes I wondered if Abuela hadn't kicked you out and you stayed. I think... we've all would've become who we are still to this day." she spoke softly.
As she continued to stare at the dreamcatcher, she heard a few knocks on the door and then saw Antonio coming in with excitement as he has Pico the Toucan on his shoulder.
"Rosa! Dolores and Mariano are back! Come on!"
"Alright primo, I'm coming." she answered as she quickly got out of the bed and held Antonio's hand.
As the two reached to the stairs, they saw the family welcoming Dolores and Mariano as they entered Casita. Pepa was hugging her daughter tightly and smothered her with kisses while Felix greeted Mariano as he patted his shoulder.
"Welcome home." he spoke.
"You have no idea how much I missed you." said Pepa as she continues to smother her daughter with kisses.
During so everyone looked to see the weather around them was extremely bright with a hint of small rain showers.
"Sorry mama." Pepa spoke as she realized her gift.
"Now Pepa, we're all glad the two have come home. Come, we have prepared a welcome home feast, you must tell us all about your honeymoon." said Alma.
"Of course." said Mariano until she notices Rosa and Antonio coming down. "But first things first."
Rosa spotted him coming towards her and saw a bag in his hand. Curious to know what was in it until Mariano stood in front of her.
"Hola, Mariano. Welcome back." she spoke to him, and the new member of the Madrigal family smiled.
"Rosa, Dolores and I found something we think you like to know." he said to her as reach something in the bag.
Rosa watched as he was searching something until he brought out a couple of books and handed them to her. The dreamer looked at them until her eyes grew wide as she saw the cover of the book showing a woman with a familiar name.
"'Grace Augustine'!" she read. "That... that's the woman that took care of Mirabel!"
All the Madrigals in present, heard what Rosa just said, and quickly gathered around to look at the books. They were all talking, murmuring about that it was the same person that took Mirabel under her wing. Isabela gently took the books from her cousin's hands and looked at them.
"Where did you two find these?" Rosa asked.
"While we were enjoying our day, we thought of looking around the town until Dolores heard some people at the book shop." Mariano answered.
"What got my attention was hearing people about Pandora and Na'vi. I had to drag my husband to come along to have a look at them." said Dolores.
Isabela looked at the books, seeing Grace's biography book, the guide of pandora that was written by some of the scientists, but as she looked at the third book, she looked through some pages and a smile appeared on her face.
"Hey guys, this book here, this is like a translation book on how to speak Na'vi."
"Wait really?" Camilo questioned as he gathered to Isabela to have a peek at the book.
Luisa and Rosa gathered around; Antonio was then picked up by Rosa as she held him up to look inside the book.
"This will be hard to speak but I do want to learn that." said Luisa.
"Me too!" said Antonio.
Rosa smiled at the books and then turned to face Dolores and Mariano.
"Gracias you two." she said and gave them a hug.
"We'd figured you'd like it." Dolores smiled.
"It's a wonderful gift you two. Come, you two must be hungry from a long trip." said Julieta.
As the family was led to the family table for the feast, Rosa stood in her place looking at the books. She couldn't stop smiling to see books all about Pandora and speaking the language. When she looked at the guidebook, it was showing pictures of plants and animals that look so different than the ones on Earth, especially the Na'vi.
"Incredible..." she spoke softly to herself as she wanted to read until she heard a voice.
"Rosa."
The dreamer turned to see Antonio as he was getting her attention.
"Are you coming?"
"Yeah. I'm coming." she answered, "But let me put these in my room first."
"Okay." he said and then ran off to join the others.
Rosa giggled as she watched her young cousin running towards his animals that were waiting for him. She began to walk up the stairs and up to her room. As she entered, she wandered to her study table to place some of the books on them to read later. As she smiled for a moment, she started to leave her room until a bright light appeared behind her. Her eyes grew wide and gasped as she turned to see the mirror glowing again.
"It's happening! It's happening!" she spoke and quickly left the room to the stairs.
Meanwhile at the dinner table, everyone was listening in on the newlywed's time on their honeymoon. Suddenly, Dolores' ear perked up as she heard running footsteps and already knew who that was.
"Here comes Rosa, but she sounds in a hurry." she said.
The family looked at the direction and then saw Rosa enter the dining room, out of breath, as she came to the table.
"I really need to start running more!"
"Rosa, Mija what's wrong?" Bruno asked.
"The mirror! It's acting up again!"
"Now?!" Camilo spoke.
"You guys got to come quick!"
The family looked at each other for a moment and got out of their seats as they exit the room and follow Rosa.
Rosa ran back up to her room, and one by one, all the family gathered around. They were staring at the mirror as it was still glowing.
"We're all here?" Rosa asked as she looked at them.
"Wait for me!" Antonio spoke as he got through the grownups, his older siblings and cousins.
He stood beside Rosa with a smile of excitement on his face as he stared at the mirror. Rosa smiled at him and then turned back to the mirror, held her hand out to touch it. The mirror glowed brightly until it faded as the family now saw Mirabel.
"This is another video blog of yours truly. As you can see, it has been a couple of months since my latest video. Sorry about that, I was so busy training with my avatar body." said Mirabel as talked to camera and smiled until she cleared her throat. "Anyway, to tell you this, the new recruits have finally arrived yesterday."
The family heard what she said as they seem to remember that Mirabel did say that new recruits were joining the program.
"Anyone remember the names of the new recruits?" Camilo asked as he looked at his family.
"I believe their names were Norm and Tom." said Isabela.
"First, there was Norma Spellman. He is actually cool. His Na'vi tongue speaks well even though it is formal, but he is learning. He is smart and learned about Pandora ever since he read my mom's book. And then... there was the other recruit. Jake Sully."
"Jake Sully…?" Rosa questioned in confusion.
"I thought it was supposed to be someone named Tom?" said Luisa.
"So did I.," said Isabela.
"He's actually Tom's twin brother. We just heard word that he's actually dead. He got by a thief who attempted to steal his wallet and now the brother decided to volunteer to take his place for the program. Jake, however, is a retired Marine in a wheelchair. Also... he doesn't know about science or the lab training. His answered was that he dissects a frog once. Mom and I were so happy about it."
"She's happy about that?" Antiono asked.
"Sarcasm Primo. Still can't help but feel bad for him to say the least." said Rosa.
"Also, what does dissect mean?"
The family heard the young one's question and there was awkward silence in the room. They knew what it means but with the boy who loves animals, they don't know how to say it or not at least.
"Tonito dear...it means..." Pepa tries to explain.
"What your Mama means is that it's something to do with animals and well..." Felix tried as well.
"Should really tell him about this?" Camilo asked as he whispered to Dolores.
"I don't have the heart to say it." she whispered back.
"Look, why don't we talk about that when you're older, okay? Look Mirabel has more to say." said Rosa.
All turned back to the mirror and gave a big relief sigh, thanks to Rosa to save that awkward moment.
"So, as my mom decided to talk to Selfridge, which wasn't a good idea, I thought of getting acquainted with them. I have told them about my old home in Encanto about the miracles and how I got to Pandora. Norm seems to fascinate the story, but Jake is more a disbeliever. Thinking that magic is bull as he said. I told him that once he stepped outside of the Pandorian forest, even at night, he'll see just how magic it really is."
"Wait did she just say that?" Camilo asked.
"Yeah, we heard." said Luisa.
"'Magic is bull'? I'm not happy with that." said Pepa as a small cloud appeared above her.
"What a Skxawng!" said Isabela as her gift taking effect with her anger.
"Now, now calm down everyone. Remember, Mirabel is with some people that don't understand the magic and the Encanto." said Alma.
The rest of the family looked at each other and nod as they chatted with agreement and then continued to watch the mirror.
"So, as the morning came, the scientists got the avatars ready in the lab. I thought of watching with Max and want to see them getting up and testing their body movements. Once Jake and Norm were now awake, Norm seems to be patient and worked on moving his hands and legs. Jake, however, wasn't listening to the scientists and though that he got this. That skxawng does not until he left the lab. I quickly got to my link bed and woke up in my avatar body. I was still mad."
"And once again I would feel sorry for him." said Rosa.
"Why?" Camilo questioned.
"Well try to be in his situation, not having the ability to walk anymore."
"True. But Mira did say that he wasn't listening to the scientists." said Dolores.
"As Rosa said, he hasn't been able to walk in a long time, so he had to have a little fun, despite some consequences." said Bruno.
"I did shout at him, but mom told me to calm down. And I did. After the training, dinner, and stuff, I thought of telling this vlog about this. Also, for tomorrow, mom is taking me to the forest with Jake and Norm. It's been a while, but we won't there for long. This is Mirabel signing off."
The Madrigals watch to see Mirabel turning the camera off but the mirror didn't become blank as Mirabel sighed and covered her eyes with her hand. There was confusion in Rosa's room.
"…This is new, the mirror never did this before." said Rosa.
"Maybe she forgot to turn the camera off." said Luisa.
"It doesn't look like she did…."
"Okay what's going on with this mirror now?" Camilo questioned.
Suddenly, they heard the sound of a door opening that was coming from the mirror and saw Mirabel looking at a different direction.
"You alright, butterfly?" a female voice asked.
"That voice. Isn't that...?" Rosa was about to ask until Mirabel started to speak.
"I'm really not sure about Jake, mom. I mean... he didn't listen to us, don't know about science, and he'll join the RDA. I mean... they'll never listen."
"We just have to face it, kid." Grace spoke as she placed her hands on Mirabel's shoulders and her face was close to her adopted daughter's cheek. "Maybe... he won't go against us. Since I am in charge of the program."
"What are they talking...?"
Rosa's hand covered Camilo's mouth to silence him to hear more of Mirabel and Grace.
"I hope your right mom. But I don't want some Avatar to be joining Quaritch. If Jake does, he'll end up enjoying destroying Pandora and killed the Na'vi. I just don't want that. I don't want that to happen." said Mirabel.
"Destroy Pandora? Kill the Na'vi? What is she talking about?" Mariano questioned in concern and confusion.
The Madrigals turned to him, forgetting about what happened to Mirabel in the past.
"We'll tell you later." Dolores spoke to her husband.
"And that will never happen. Don't worry, I'll give Selfridge a piece of my mind if he plans to do something." said Grace.
Mirabel smiled at her mother for a moment and then felt her arms around her in a hug. Suddenly, Grace looked up as she was facing the camera and smirked.
"Get some rest." she spoke to her as she let go of the hug and started to leave. "By the way, your camera is still on."
"Wait, what?!" Mirabel turned around and look at the camera with her eyes wide. "Oh! This is Mirabel signing off!" she and quickly turned the camera off.
"I told you she left it on." said Luisa as the mirror's magic died down.
"It's too bad we don't get to see more of her and not just the video blogs." said Camilo.
"We might, though I'm still interested in this Jake Sully." said Rosa.
"You're kidding right?" Camilo questioned as he looked at his cousin.
Rosa turns to see her family giving her questionable looks.
"I just think there's something interesting about him."
"Why?" Isabela asked.
"Okay from the way we're hearing he may be a moron, but I think he's different from those soldiers we've been hearing about. Besides, I get the feeling that this program will help him see through the eyes to what Mirabel and the others have seen."
"Rosa..." Bruno spoke as he looked at his daughter. "Did you see something like that in your dream?"
"I think I did. …It was a little fuzzy." she answered.
The family looked at each other for a moment and then looked back at Rosa and the mirror.
"I guess we'll just have to keep watch for the next time the mirror starts acting up."
"I hope so too, Mija. I hope so too." said Bruno as he stood close to his daughter and the rest of the family stared at the mirror, wondering how Mirabel is doing.
