My name is Delia prior . My parent are the leaders of abnegation: Andrew and Natalia prior . I also have two sisters and a brother whose names are : beatrice , Maria and Caleb prior . We are not big in the age difference but we look very separate .

Today is my 16 years old birthday but abnegation don't celebrate birthday because it will be considered self indulgent and that can be considered as selfishness which is the value against abnegation.

Also today is the day that I will have to make a decision. I can either stay in abnegation or go to other factions: erudite , dauntless, Candor or amity.

However leaving abnegation means that I forsake my family permanently. I don't want to do that . I don't want to be the traitor of my family but I don't think that I can do anything better in abnegation so I don't know what to be expected

"Sister , it is time to eat breakfast." Maria is calling me

"I am coming." I sneak out the room and walk downstair

I am wearing a watch because that is the only decoration allowed for abnegation because that is deemed as practical. I get into kitchen and I can't see where mom is

"Where is mom?" I look around

"She is in living room and she wants to see you." Father looks at me seriously. "Today is your big day."

I walk to the living room. Mom is sitting there alone . I sit down beside her carefully.

"Good morning Delia ." Mom grabs my hand ."how are you doing?"

"I am good . Why do you want to talk to me ?" I narrow my eyes

"I have a request. I suppose to let you to stay in abnegation because that is what I must do but for your own sake , I will have to tell you. If you want to be safe and get your memories before 16 years old back, you will have to go to dauntless." Mom brushes my hair to the side

I am stunned . Why mom wants me to leave and choose dauntless . She knows that dad hates them but why she wants me to choose them.

"Why mom? Why are you telling me to leave ?" I am shocked

"I love you Delia . However you weren't even from here ." Mom says . "You were from somewhere else and the people who sent you on asked me to push you into dauntless . Please don't ask me why. One day you will know ."

Mom is begging so I have to do it. However I wander does dad knows about it too?

"Does dad knows ?" I frown

"Yes he knows as well. So don't worry, we understand you" mom kisses my forehead

I and mom walk into kitchen to eat . I don't want beatrice and Maria to know that I am going to leave especially to dauntless . Caleb and Maria dislike dauntless but Maria doesn't like Caleb who always bragging about his hatred in public

We eat in silence . Maybe it is because that dad and mom know that I must leave so it is our last meal so they want to eat it as slow as possible

After the breakfast , we start walking toward the bus station.

"Sister are you nervous ?" Maria grabs my hand . "Are you coming back?"

"Of course I am coming back." I kiss her cheek

I know that I can't be Candor because I lied to easily even though my aptitude test told me that I can . I got all five factions as my result and tori told me that is a sign of divergent

Is because I am divergent so that my mom wants me to leave ?

"That's great." Beatrice claps her hand

Caleb looks at me with eyebrows arched . I know that he knows that I am lying about it or he already knows what I am going to do .

We get on the bus . Today bus is full of people . Only dauntless and erudite are using train and cars , other factions are all using the bus .

"Where are we going?" Maria asks

"The hub, the tallest building in abnegation building." I brush her hair away . Maria is like a kids although she is just a year younger than beatrice and Caleb .

When we get to the hub ,I walk beside mom and dad . The elevator is full packed so dad less us to climb the stairs. Every abnegation follows but very soon we are engulf with group of people .

"You will be fine " Alan tries to comfort me

"Your mom is right. We love you." Dad hugs me . let's fine ."

When we get into the room, my heart jumps so fast. I see that dauntless are piling together and erudite are chatting over book and knowledge , Candor are debating about something and amity are exchanging greeting and smiles with each other

I stand at the last row . Mom and dad come to hug me

"We all love you. Remember that okay?" Dad kisses my forehead . "Good luck."

"Thanks dad ." I nod at him

I am going to cry so I remain silent . I am the only one who was forced to leave my old faction because something is different with me .

Then I see someone is standing with dauntless , my body guard ted . He is a dauntless leader now as I heard from my dad . He is tall and big already.

"Delia?" He comes toward me . "How are you doing?"

"I am doing great. Congratulation on getting that position." I smile at him

"Your father helped a lot. Thank you." He hugs me . "Good luck. I wish that you can make the right choice ."

Ted is always this gentle with me . This year the ceremony rotates to dauntless . The mafia boss of max will speak on the dauntless's behalf . Max walks on the stage

The speech will be short because eloquent is for erudite .

"So I will make the speech short. So welcome to the choosing ceremony and today every 16 years old have their chance to choose the way they want to live in the future . We believe in the faction before blood and we respect every of your choice ." Max stops a for a while . "Now let the ceremony begin."

He takes a piece of name tag from the box . He narrows his eyes

"Delia prior ."

This year the name is randomly draw from the box . I am first . I walk on the stage . I have to choose dauntless , I am doing this for my mom and dad . I take the knife offered by max

"Don't be nervous . Just choose ." Max smiles at me

He is so kind . Is that why Ted is so kind because his boss is so kind . I cut my palm opens . Maybe dauntless isn't a too bad idea for me to choose .

I put my and above dauntless bowl until blood sizzles on the coal

"Dauntless." Max exclaims

He says it so proud . He pats me on my back . Beckoning me to sit down with other dauntless kids .

"Welcome to dauntless ." A boy welcomes me .

He let me sits down on his seat and walks to the last row . I look at him. He is so tall and strong. Can I do a good job in dauntless when I am so small?

"Hey stiff , welcome . The first transfer from abnegation. You broke the record ." A dauntless girl smirks at me

I know that stiff is the nick name for abnegation and everyone know it. Most people are calling us stiff and some people just ignored us

"Be quiet." Max yells .

Abnegation and erudite quiet down immediately. Erudite are smirking at abnegation .

"So next one James tucker ." Max says

James tucker , a dauntless born walks toward the stage . He stumbles in the middle of the way. Every dauntless starts to laugh.

His face is pure red now and I know that he is embarrassed .

"Are you okay." I extend out my hand . "I can help you."

"I don't need a stiff's help." James tucker pushes my hand away

He walks on the stage . He takes the knife from max . He cuts his hand opens and stretch out.

"Dauntless." He remains in dauntless

He comes down the stage and sits beside me . He looks at me so directly.

"Anyway but thanks for your help." James tucker says in a low voice

"You are welcome ." I smile at him

"You look sort of pretty compare to other stiff." James tucker shrugs

I am blushing now . No one ever complimented me before .

"Don't be too excited for this . Dauntless initiation is the hardest within the five and the cruelest ." James tucker sighs . "You may not stay until the end ."

"Really?" I raise my eyebrows .

"Yeah , we have a score system. If you can't get to certain score ,then no use ." James tucker explains

After everyone finish choosing, it is time to leave . I want to see how dauntless is going to get my memories back . I look back at my parent. Both of them are nodding at me but beatrice and Maria are crying.

It makes my heart jumps so fast. They didn't know that I have to leave .

"Your sisters and brother?" A girl looks at me . "My name is Elizabeth."

She is from Candor . Very surprise for me that it must require great bravery to speak truth all the time

"Let's go." People start to push us out of the door .

Then we start running. That's crazy, we are using the stairs . After a long time , I figure out that dauntless are using stairs not because selfless but wildness .

"Let's go." People are screaming and shouting.

I join them without controlling myself . Can that be because I was from dauntless but how is that possible when my mom is from abnegation. Unless she isn't my mom.

I have to figure out.

We are running toward the train track. I watch dauntless everyday when they arrive at school . So I know what to expect next: jump on and off a moving train.

We climb the railing toward the train track . I don't have much difficult compared to amity girls . We only have one amity girl with us. I don't know who she is but she isn't too weak .
