Chapter 3
He. Is. A. Fucking. Omega.
Those five words screeched themselves in Katsuki's brain as he sat there, as stunned as the rest of the class, as Aizawa droned on, an abashed-looking Izuku standing next to him at the front of the class. It appeared as if Izuku wanted to be literally anywhere else but where he stood, hands clenched at his sides with an expression on his face that made him look constipated.
Katsuki heard and took in what Aizawa was saying. Blah blah nesting in his dorm room; blah blah those on Izuku's floor temporarily moving; blah blah scent-blockers. He heard it all. Understood it. But, he couldn't stop those five words bouncing around his head.
He. Is. A. Fucking . Omega.
How? How was it even possible? Omegas didn't have super charged quirks like Izuku had. Katsuki wasn't arrogant enough not to recognize awesome quirks when he saw them. Icy Hot? Man, that guy was amazing. Even that round cheeked girl and her gravity thing. Impressive. So Katsuki could acknowledge that Izuku's quirk was – if not completely controlled – awesome. Imagine what it will be when Izuku gets his shit together and uses it full force.
He would be unstoppable.
But.
He . Is. A. Fucking. Omega.
"In short," Aizawa said in his monotone voice (which was a fucking joke – he'd been talking for ten minutes as Izuku looked increasingly more and more uncomfortable), "Midoriya will need help from an alpha during his heat. Not," he added as Izuku's face bloomed into redness, "sexually. He needs an alpha to provide for him, comfort him, and scent him. He's agreed to see if any of you, the people he feels most comfortable with, would like to do him the honor. His heat should start within a few days, so please speak to him if you're interested and he will choose."
Silence met this last statement. The class was stunned all over again.
"Midoriya?" Aizawa said in a voice that was so kind Katsuki couldn't believe it came from their abrasive teacher, "you may take your seat now. Thank you."
After a jerky bow to their teacher, Izuku slunk over to his seat, passing Katsuki with his head down. Katsuki didn't have to turn around to guess that Izuku was probably bent over in his chair, staring down at the desk. When Aizawa asked them to take out their books, Katsuki didn't hear the usual shuffle of papers behind him as the nerd got ready to take notes.
He. Is. A. Fucking . Omega.
The alpha in Katsuki both sang and cried. Sang at the thought that maybe, just maybe, that dream he had buried deep in the earth of his conscience could resurface. Cried at the pain the omega must be going through. Katsuki wasn't stupid. He knew exactly what all this meant and exactly what Izuku's overthinking brain must be churning through right now.
He. Is. A. Fucking. Omega.
How the hell could Katsuki have even one chance of being Izuku's choice? He wanted to turn around immediately and beg the omega to choose him. Wanted to offer to provide everything the omega could desire. Comfort him. Scent him. Fucking hell, he wanted to rub his wrists over Izuku's neck right now – the need almost drove him feral.
But, he could picture the expression Izuku would give him. One of those 'not on your fucking life, you asshole' looks that Katsuki one hundred percent deserved, because all he'd done since they were four years old was torment the poor kid. Why, in any scenario, would Izuku smile and say, "Yes, Kacchan, I would love for you to spend my heat with me!"?
Maybe, just maybe, none of the losers in this class would recognize what a golden opportunity this presented. Maybe no one would see what a perfect omega Izuku was. Maybe no one would offer up their alpha self and Izuku would have to choose Katsuki because he had no one else to choose from!
Dream on, Katsuki, because while his classmates were losers, not all of them were completely dumb. Some were even close friends with Izuku, and might offer their alpha self out of friendship. They might not even want to mate Izuku and build a perfect life with him, just help him through his first heat as any friend would do.
Katsuki wanted to do it to open the door to Izuku trusting him once again, because now that He. Is. A. Fucking. Omega , the vista of their future expanded to mating/family/pups/future/eternity together. The fantasy, shooting scenes and images through his head, seemed so fucking real.
The first step, though, was a doozy. Because these fucking extras were in his way, and they had the biggest advantage of all. They'd always been nice and friendly to Izuku. How the fuck could he offer himself to Izuku right now?
As Aizawa droned on over whatever it was he was droning on about, Katsuki sent a surreptitious glare around the room, sizing up his competition. Round Cheeks and Four Eyes would offer, he thought, because they were Izuku's closest friends. While they probably wouldn't have romantic intentions, they were the closest to Izuku. Half-and-Half might offer, too, and the Frog girl. That Momo might, she was incredibly kind and felt a sense of responsibility to their class.
Katsuki dismissed a few of the extras – Izuku would definitely say no if the dumb Grape kid offered (though with his obsessions with girls, Katsuki doubted Grape Boy would try). He'd also say no to that conceited laser beam guy.
Everyone else, though, if they offered, had a chance. Some more than others, but they'd all have a better chance than Katsuki. A Katsuki who hated to lose, but it was so much more than that. This wasn't just about coming in second (or last) to a string of extras. This was losing his best chance of winning Izuku's heart. Of showing Izuku he was truly sorry for everything. Of proving to Izuku he was the perfect alpha for him.
His mind shift in the past thirty minutes gave him a headache. Thirty minutes ago, he believed that Izuku was an alpha and forever out of his reach. Thirty minutes ago, he believed that his whole life had been a series of fucked up events that meant Izuku would never be his. Thirty minutes ago, he believed that none of his dreams could ever come true.
Now, everything seemed a possibility and an impossibility all at once. Which, to be fair, was always the case with Izuku. He snorted at the thought. Nothing involving Izuku, or his feelings for Izuku, was ever simple. Izuku came with a whole complex Pandora's Box of shit. It had always been that way and probably always would be.
But, it was time to put their complicated past and present behind them. If Katsuki wanted the future he'd dreamed about, he had to pull his shit together, put his balls and backbone to use, and win the opportunity to make everything up to Izuku. Because everything in their life had shifted with one simple little fact.
He. Is. A. Fucking. Omega.
And Katsuki would be damned if Izuku chose anyone else but him.
