Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 6 of Exiled Princess. Thank you to those who have left reviews for this story. It does mean a lot to me. I hope that you guys enjoy this next chapter. I know that it's been a bit choppy as of late, but I am trying my best to write this out. I also changed the name of the main character. Faelwen is only mentioned when around elves... But her name instead of Elbereth is now Aramyre. I thought that it work out better. Hopefully I fixed all of the chapters out to make sure that they were fixed. If I miss a name please let me know. I'll fix it. I hope that I ended up getting them all. Without further ado Chapter 6. ENJOY!
Chapter 6
Aramyre slowly traveled with the company crossing the Misty Mountains. The trail was narrow and dangerous, with a cliff on one side and a sheer drop on the other side. There was a fierce storm in the air with lightning and rain.
"Hold on!" Thorin yelled over the raging wind.
Bilbo tried his best to walk, but the stone beneath his feet gave away and started to send the poor hobbit towards the chasm.
Dwalin managed to pull him back up in time.
Aramyre let out a soft breath. "We have to get off of here!" She yelled, her heart pounded in her chest.
"We must find shelter!" Thorin yelled.
"Watch out!" Dwalin yelled out.
They looked up and saw a massive boulder hurtling through the air. It hit the mountainside above them, causing rocks to fall all around them as they pressed themselves against the mountain.
"This is no thunderstorm; it's a thunder battle! Look!" Balin yelled, his eyes went wide.
A stone giant reared up from a nearby mountain. It ripped off a massive boulder from the top of the mountain.
"We need to get off of here now!"Aramyre yelled as the rain kept coming down drenching them even more.
"Well bless me, the legends are true. Giants; Stone Giants!" Bofur said, looking out from under his floppy hat that was sticking to his head.
"Take cover: you'll fall!" Thorin shouted.
Aramyre grabbed Bofur and slammed him against the mountainside to keep him from falling down the side of the mountain.
"What's happening?" Kili asked as his eyes went wide.
The giant threw the boulder far in the air. Another stone giant appeared from behind the company and it was hit on the head.
They all yelled at each other to brace and hold on, and the rocks beneath their feet began to give way from all the vibrations and the impact of the falling rocks. The ground between some of the company members split. Part of the group was on one side and the other part was on the other side.
"Kili! Grab my hand! Ki..." Fili tried his best to grab his brother's hand but they were separated.
Aramyre grabbed Fili and pushed him up against the mountain.
The two stone giants fought with their fists, the company held on tight as they were flung around. One of the groups managed to jump to a different spot. A third stone giant appeared, and it threw a boulder at the head of one of the first two. That one fell over, and as the first group watched, it appeared to them that the other group of the company had been smashed to bits. The hurt stone giant lost its footing and fell into the chasm.
"No! No! Kili!" Thorin yelled.
The group rushed over to the spot where the others were supposedly crushed, but they were safe.
Aramyre slowly got up to her feet holding her head in pain.
"We're all right! We're alive!" Balin said asAramyre got him up to his feet.
"Where's Bilbo? Where's the Hobbit?" Bofur asked as he looked around rather concerned.
"There!" Ori pointed to Bilbo hanging on for dear life.
"Get him!" Dwalin shouted.
Bilbo was hanging onto the edge of the cliff with just his fingertips.
Ori dived into the ground trying to grab Bilbo's arm, but Bilbo slipped and fell another few feet before he caught another handhold.
The dwarves tried to pull him up unsuccessfully.
Thorin swung down on the cliff next to Bilbo and boosted him up where the others pulled him up to safety.
Dwalin tried to lift Thorin back up too, but Thorin lost his grip and began to fall too, but Dwalin with much effort was able to pull Thorin back up. "I thought we'd lost our burglar."
"He's been lost ever since he left home. He should never have come. He has no place amongst us. Dwalin!" Thorin snapped.
Aramyre let out a breath and shook her head lightly.
Soon enough they were able to find a cave where they could dry off and rest for the evening.
"It looks safe enough," Dwalin said as he looked around.
"Search to the back; caves in mountains are seldom unoccupied," Thorin said, looking over at Dwalin.
Dwalin searched the cave with a lantern. "There's nothing here."
Gloin dropped a bundle of wood on the floor and rubbed his hands together. "Right then! Let's get a fire started."
"No, No fires, not in this place. Get some sleep. We start at first light." Thorin said letting out a huff.
"Thorin is right… we cannot risk a fire."Aramyre said, pointing out the truth behind Thorin's words.
"We were to wait in the mountains until Gandalf joined us. That was the plan." Balin said, looking over at Thorin.
"Plans change. Bofur, take the first watch." Thorin ordered the hat-wearing member of the group.
Aramyre let out a soft breath as she pushed her hood back before running her hand through her hair to get the water out of it.
