Chapter 122:New Plan
Right now elsewhere in the academy at that moment was meg who was wandering the halls of the academy right now looking for someone in patricualr. Mainly because of what she saw in the training hall her cusiroty was peeked.
Though as she kept wandering the halls she was just very worried for her daughter safety on who she associates herself with. She knows that winchester boy has made up for what hes done to her daughter. But she just worried. As she kept walking around someone called to her
"So mrs bunny ears senior over here seems lost in her workplace. Need a hand"dravan said startling her slightly
"Oh uh dravan…you startled me for a second. No just walking around"meg replied
But he raised an eyebrow"really? Because you seemed in a rush early something on your mind"he replied as she stared at him seeing this as a losing battle.
"Look i'm just….wondering if the person my daughter is dating is alright. Early he seemed rather troubled"she replied honestly as he huffed
"Listen i don't like the kid because i'm still a little weary about him. But i just reunited with my niece and i've never seen them smile like that. And…that kid despite being on death doors searched for my niece"dravan replied as the women and him walked around for a bit.
"Well it was interesting seeing that but….well it seems a few of the teens in that group are troubled."she replied as he nodded in agreement
"You wanna check up on that kid i take it"dravan asked as she nodded. The two began to search around the place for a bit for any sign of him and maybe after a half hour they finally did. Because outside the forge right now was beidou standing guard as she noticed them.
"Oh hey you two? Need something we having a battle plan or something"beidou asked
"No just well…have you seen my daughter uh boyfriend"meg replied as the women nodded gesturing inside the forge confusing them as they peered inside.
Because inside the forge right now hard at work was zne who seemed in the midst of finishing up heating some metals and ores. As he was in the middle of pouring them into a press, though meg noticed something. That his hands were shaking a little as he managed to pour it into themold.
Though he seemed rather skilled in the forge because from what dravan could tell he knew how to operate and handle the equipment. Making him wonder if he was working on that gift he planned to make for his nieces. Which would make sense since he really can't leave the school or he would get attacked by a greedy bounty hunter then the whole palace would be in chaos.
"So you here keeping an eye on the kid incase anyone trys anything i guess"he said
"Umm well sort of i guess though what are you doing here?"beidou asked again
Meg messed with her ears for a moment"well just….i thought you were calming him down right now. From that panic attack of his"she asked as the soilder sighed
"I calmed him down with some exercises the doc taught him. Though he was insistent on coming here right now. Kept saying he needs to do something important"beidou said making dravan chuckle
"I think i know what hes doing….took a peek at a notebook. Heard he made a sword for someone, seems he making something for my two nieces"dravan said surprising them slightly
"Makes sense from what i heard from my daughter he sang to her"meg added
Beidou snickered at that"aww thats cute. Guess hes putting in one of the many hobbies he picked up to use."she mentioned peeking their interest because she seems rather close with him despite being a soldier.
"You seem close to him….what he save your life or something"dravan asked as the women stared at him for a moment sighing crossing her amrs looking down
"Saved some of my buddies. Though look i can't say much since its classified intel, if the general found out. He'll silence all of you then shoot the kid sqaure in the head"beidou said suprirsing them by that revelation as meg sighed
"My daughter and her friends seems smart. And remember my husband is a head scientist in your RND department"meg stated meaning her husband as beidou looked down deep in thought.
"Well lets just say i got stuck on babysitter duty for two years straight. I was so confused how we had….like twenty guards watching someone move. Then when i finally see who i'm guarding its just some little kid. With a big old shock collar on em"she started as they listned
"Assigned as a onsight psychitarcist though i normally just use it for integrating people. But…the doc really was worried about him. Didn't eat for a month straight thinking we'd drug him…which we didn't do. Though worried if he's going back to old habits…i've seen people with PTSD. some of those other kids have it i'm sure but…his mom asked me to keep an eye on him."she finished
Meg glanced inside for a moment seeing him carrying a box of parts toward a table. But he stumbled a little before sitting it down sitting down holding his head as he seemed rather exhausted. She decided to check on him.
"Ummm hello dear are you arlgiht?"meg called out startling him as he jumped shaking slightly before realziing it was her as he began to try and hide the items he had.
"I um..h-hello uh miss scarlitina…i'm uh fine just trying to do maintenance on my gear."he said placing some things back in a box as he looked down
"If you want me to stay away from your daughter i um…i will…until where done here. "He added surprising her as she looked away
"Um i wasn't going to say that. I've seen how my daughter cares for you and those other two it seems. I just wanted to see if your doing alright after what my coworker showed everyone"meg said as he flinched at that looking down into the several parts in the box.
"I'm fine…just trying to keep myself occupied right now. Sorry but i need to get back to work on something"he nervously said grabbing some parts but was slow with it as he kept trying to adjust his vision. As he just stared at the parts in hand as soon enough a noise could be heard sounding like a stomach growl. Which was from him as he looked down groaning holding his head.
"Seems like you might be hunger. Look i think you should go take a break and eat something. Working on an empty stomach won't do you any good"she said as he kept organzing the parts placing them into separate cases right now as they clanked together. But he just looked down.
"I'm fine….not really hunger right now….i just wanna get some work done. Please go leave me alone"he softly said which concerned her as meg sighed placing a hand on his shoulder but he visible flinch which caught her offguard
"I…i wasn't going to hit you. Look why don't you grab something to eat i'm sure if my daughter was here she say the same thing to you. You can work on these later"meg said as he wanted to keep arguing but noticed beidou near the door narrowing her one eye walking over
"Kid you need to eat. Work on this stuff later alright okay"she firmly ordered as he relented following them to get something to eat.
Although elsewhere in the academy right now was oscar who was busy doing one thing. Mainly going over battle strategies with ozpin along with doing some much needed training. That being his training with raven as she was armed with wooden katana as a training weapon. The two of them where in a different part of the academy that being a private training hall.
The room is meant for people to train by themselves to keep to themselves incase they needed to let some aggression out. Though the two of them were talking somewhere with ozpin talking to him with raven unable to hear him.
"Are you sure i should train right now? I'm a little well versed with a weapon"oscar replied
"You should because in my opinion along with oz. your still just a kid and you need to be ready. Because the responsibility you'll be overseeing is a huge role"raven replied
'She is right oscar. I may just be a passenger in your the body the same applies to you. But you still need to train to be ready for anything."ozpin said in his head
"Alright…but couldn't you i mean…ozpin just give me the memroie of his fighting styles. Then i would have them down in an instant?"oscar questioned recalling the memories he was shown back in the anima. Because he got bits and pieces of those lifes skills actually. Early he got curious while they set up the defense for havan.
Mainly being how back in argus in that clinic he knew how to pick a lock like an expert. But in his entire life he never knew how to pick a lock only how to tend to the field. Along with taming some animals from his father.
"You could but it would take time for that to happen. It would be easier for you to pratice and hone your skills. Nothing is every easy even if you take the easiest path"ozpin wisely said
"Let me guess ozpin saying one his wise methods or idioms isn;t he?"raven asked as the boy froze up slightly before nodding
"He is….does he always do something like that?"he replied as she nodded
Then she began to head toward the middle of the small arena they had as she drew the pratice katana. Oscar then drew the cane pressing a button extending it as the two stared each other down. As he waited for her to strike it felt like it was forever
The two just stared each other down right now waiting for one of them to begin the fight. Until suddenly raven shifted her feet before striking at him first which he expected but wasn't ready for. Immediately she raisd the sword but he raised his as the two wooden weapons whakced together.
This made oscar be moved back a few feet though luckily he caught himself on his feet. But he didn't have enough time to resteady him as raven came right back for another attack. Before he knew it he was whacked in the side hard as he winced.
Luckily it wasn't the real thing but he could already feel a bruise their, was she even holding back? Not trying to dwell on it oscar decided to try and move in on the offensive right now. Raven shifted her stance as the two of them began to go in a circle with one another.
The women stared him down as he did the same as the two of them just kept waiting. Until after some time soon enough he decided to be the first to strike this time. Oscar raised his cane as he had one hand on it but he tighten his grip. Then he began to swing several times at her to try and knock her down to the ground.
But instead of her being knocked to the ground she kept blocking his advances with the pratice sword easily. The two kept colliding with each other as the sword occasionally thacked him inbetween each swing. It was starting to become tiring for him right now though soon enough he saw something
As raven lifted her arm up for another attack he decided to strike as she swung the sword toward him. Immediately he ducked using his size to his advantage then he whacked her in the side making her stumble back slihglty.
Though he went wide eyed slightly smiling that he actually got a hit on her.
"I…i actually got a hit"he said
"Thats good but you might want to pay attention oscar"ozpin said in his head
This made him puzzled before he knew what happened to him. As raven dashed forward bending down sweeping his legs out from underneath him. This resulted in him falling onto his back as he groaned on the ground at that moment. As he slowly opened his eyes he was met by something.
That being raven standing over him with her blade drawn as it was pointed directly at his eyes. Then the former bandit smirked slightly waiting for him to say something. Which would be him admiititng defeat as he relented
"I…guess you won this "oscar said
"Was it that obvious?"raven asked placing the sword on a nearby bench. Then she walked back over offering him a hand. He took it as she hoisted him up to his feet.
"So let me guess i need to start working on my footwork or stance. Because if i don't i end up dead which will ruin evertyhing"oscar asked because all of this was quite nerve racking at times though instead of getting beat down the second voice in his head offered some positives to his lose.
"You may have lost right now. But in the near future you can still succeed when obstacles block you. It took me several attempts to beat certain obstacles over the years. You think i just know everything that easily"ozpin asked as the two talked to each other
"No..i…i don't think so. It would take pratice for that"he replied
"Of course it does. No matter what you may think your doing terrible right now. But at some point in the future. You will master these skills i can help you master them to help you in our new journey. Along with that at times i may show a few of my past lives…but some of them are for when the time is right"ozpin wisley explained to him
The farm hand took those words in finding it strange why he empahzied him saying how he needed to hide some when the time is right. But he thought about it for a moment nodding to him agreeing then turned to raven.
'Could we maybe pratice more before we go help qrow and the others finish setting things up?"oscar asked
"You don't need to ask me twice"Raven said grabbing the pratice sword for another round.
Before the two of them began another round the sound of clapping could be heard. This drew their attention to the source of it belonging to mars. As the man was clapping leaning against the door frame.
"I was wondering where you two where. "Mars said
"Oh well hello their mars i take it your here to tell us something important?"raven said but eyed her sword that was close by just incase because he looks like right she doesn't trust him
That being because he had a smile on his face but kept occasionally glancing toward oscar for some reason which made her weary of this possible allie of their now. Oscar even felt like he needed to keep his guard up right now suddenly.
"Not really just wanted to come and check up on you two. Everyone else is getting done training but man those black ops guys. Whooped everyone butts their…lucky we got them on our side"mars replied
"Well they are trained soldiers. Surrpsied that james would even have people from that regiment here. Though with well the schnee heiress being kidnapped technically. He must have been worried for any other atlas elites children being used as leverage to get into the city."raven replied
The man nodded in agreement."yeah i know what you mean. Because well when that hine chick was getting kidnapped. I was actually in the area and tried to help. Those thugs here are a big problem at times"he replied
Though they stayed in silent for a moment before his gaze shifted toward oscar as he walked over toward him
"I don't believe we've met yet names mars graves"he said offering a hand
Oscar was about to offer him a hand but the headmaster in his voice warned him of something
"Oscar….be careful around him right now. Because he might have alternative motives right now"he warned cofnusing him as he oepend his mouth to talk. But slowly took the hand.
"I don't think we have my name is oscar pines"oscar introduced himself though he felt mars squeeze on his hands a little too tight. Like he was trying to emphaize something
"Well thats nice to hear. Though where you from i'm technically originally from vale till we moved from vacuo."mars greeted
Oscar rubbed his hand that felt sore as he glanced at him"i lived here actually in mistral. I lived with my aunt"he replied
"Really? Why her because i'm sure shes worried sick for you but what about your parents?"mars asked making oscar look down at the mention of those two.
"I…i lost them about five years ago. They both got jumped by bandits when they were gathering supplies in the city. I was at my aunt house at the time waiting for them to come back. But all that happened next was the local huntsman coming by"he siad pausing rubbing his forearm for a moment
"They were both dead….we buried them that week. And i spent the last five years with my aunt since she decided to take me in. but she should be fine"he added
"Well thats nice its great to get to know people more. I mean…"he paused before staring at the cane on his hip. Then he stared close by seeing raven sword far away from them then he stared at raven who stared back.
"I mean its weird how your lugging around the old headmaster of beacon cane"he added
Immediately raven jumped forward grabbing him by the throat then gripped his right forearm pushing it up. Because he activated his semblance with a blade sticking out of his forearm with the organic material slightly covering it.
"Give me one good reason that i don't kill you right now? Because how your acting it seems like you want to kill him right now. "Raven groweld sqeezing on his throat as he winced before staring at the farm boy who looked shocked as he asked something
"So…your the man with two souls. You knew my family back then along with my great…great…great…great…great grandfather lucifer. Mind telling me why i shouldn't well break your legs"he threatened
"That won't be happening. I don't care if your family is here if you lay a hand on him your dead."raven warned as the three were on a stand still until soon enough ozpin spoke.
"Oscar give me control i would like to speak with him"ozpin said
"Are…are you sure?"he asked hesitantly
"I am. Don't worry i'm sure he isn't here to harm us more like he has questions"ozpin answered
This made him a little nervous right now but he wanted to trust his judgement. Giving control to the headmaster he changed his posture before walking over.
"Raven please let him go. I'm sure he just wants answer right now"ozpin ordered as she wanted to get another word in. but closed her eyes before removing her grip on his throat as he immediately mottled his armor off. Then he rubbed his throat with a red mark their.
"You got a grip their i mean seriously…i thhoguth you'd squeeze my larynx in or something"he said rubbing the spot.
"I will. Because if you try anything your family may find your corpse"raven warned grabbing omen holding it close in her hands right now ready for anything. As he stared at them he walked over closing the door before locking it. Then he brought a chair up facing it backwards toward them.
""Well if your in a talk mood right now…well your also probably wondering how i figured it out?"mars asked
"I assume you figured it out when i was talking with the others. Along with my cane it seems you did your research and went through lucifers old journals back home in your family library"ozpin said
"Well i mean me and a few people like to learn about out history. Granted a bunch of us have stupid little rules in place telling us not show our semblance out in public. Though you can already tell i don't play by that rule"he said
"That doens't really explain why your here? Because if your here for revenge against ozpin or one of his lives. You won't"raven said firmly as the man shook his head
"I'm not seriously i just have a question for him"he said again making her not buy it but kept close to ozpin just incase he trys anything else right now. The man with two souls stared at the other who sat in the chair. They stayed silent for a bit before he asked
"From what i've gathered…you apparently cared for my nephew even when they found him. I've pierced together already atlas had him since those soldier knew him….but the questions is. Why?"he said
This was a very simply answer that ozpin could answer but it was also something that he hated. Because hes made many mistakes in his past lifes not being able to save his old friends kin from that witch still hurts at times. Even though he learned to live with losing people at times.
"I wanted to try and make up for my sins against your family. As you may know i contracted your ancestor to help me with this shadow war of ours. Your entire family knows of salem existence i'm sure. But at times i regret even making my old allies and friends own kin became apart of it"he admitted making the man stare at him
"I didn't even want to involve mrs benkei and her team but their ancestor where trusted allies of mine. Mrs sage family was to yours as well…along with a few other i'm sure you know. But…"he paused before placing his two hands on the top of the cane looking down then up into his dark blue eyes.
"But i also want to heal old wounds. Your family hates me i'm sure after what happened five hundred years ago. Thats why i've staved myself from contacting any of you…but when james tells me a strange grimm hybrid. Yet when he showed me the picture i knew he was one of yours. I did my best to try and help your family to fix that one sin."he said before walking over looking directly at him.
"So will you kill me….thinking it will fix your family problems"he said
The two of them stared at each other as none of them made a move at that moment. Soon enough mars stood up making raven ready to fight him if need be. But instead he returned the chair to the previous spot placing his hands in his pockets sighing.
"Nope…i can tell your telling the truth their. Though i'll keep this from my sister when she arrives with her family. Lord knows we don't want everyone to try and kill each other before we fight off an army"he said
As he began to walk away but momentarily he stopped before turning to him reaching into his pocket. Then he threw in a shift motion something at him as ozpin deflected it with his cane as it hit the wall. In the wall was a throwing knife as he stared at him.
"That is a warning because if you do anything to hurt my nephew your dead. Only reason i'm treating him with kindess is because he deserves it…i always watch out for my sister. Might as well do it again for her kid"he added
Then he left the two as they stayed silent for a moment as raven walked over digging the knife out of the wall studying it then stared at him
"Well seems you have some bad blood with people. Should i be worried?"she asked
"No its my own problem. But…lets keep training because i'll take control this time. Lets see if you can beat me."ozpin said shifting his stance placing one foot in the other then he held his cane like a sword with a smirk
"Like old times when i whooped you and qrow at the same time. While drinking my morning brew"he taunted as she shook her head drawing her sword as the two of them continue to spare to hone oscars skills.
After everyone one got some training done they got cleaned up as they were now relaxing in the lounge. Most of them where as some of them went off to see if the spiders needed any help setting up the defenses around the academy for whenever the white fang and their allies come. Though right now some of them just talked
"Man i am so tired….seriously who knew sitting around on edge while training can get you working up a sweat"yang commented
"I know right because seriously i feel like we've went overboard"cardin added taking a swig of a sports drink to refresh and hydrate himself at that moment. While eria was sitting their too thinking about what she saw. Mainly being what her own leader did
The cold dancer thought about all the times they got into stupid arguments over his shengains thinking he wasn't even fit for being their leader. But seeing that he went out into a city full of grimm in that codniton to make sure she got home. It made her feel terrible that she didn't try to convince him to try and head with the others to get treat. Though she coudln't change that now.
"So anyone wanna talk about anything to pass the time. Because in about a few hours we should get to bed early. "Nora asked to strike up some conversation
"Ummm uh oh i know what about you guys? Anything interesting happen in vacuo we might as well catch up"jaune asked as some of them looked away at that because for some it wasn't the best.
"Right…that uh…sure we could talk to pass some time. Fun"rogue said with some cheer but mercury could tell she was troubled but decided to see about it later.
"Well um…uhhh i mainly don't know you guys. Though i spent most of the time either training to go against that psycho mutt conri and rematch uh…"may paused staring at the girl who beat her in the festival who now is her girfleind.
"My girlfriend now who beat me again for our rematch. Seriously that dumb sword you got packs a punch"she added
The wolf slightly laughed"well i've been getting good with a sword now. Not my fault its chambered in high caliber dust shells like a sniper"she replied as her tail swayed
Cardin looked away for a moment because he could tell yang was staring at him because she looking at him about that panda faunus hes dating
"Though i wonder what winchester did with that panda faunus he is dating right now"she cooed teasingly making him blush with a frown as some snickered
"Come on where dating. I mean she dating a faunus princess and her other friend is dating a terrorist. No offense"he said as adam didn't mind the comment but lazuli and neo both felt a little annoyed hearing that joke again.
"Okay anything else interesting i mean. It must have sucked to continue your studies at shade bet a bunch of jersk were harassing the other students"mercury said as this made velvet look down as her ears flopped over as she rubbed her wrist for a moment. Which eria noticed concerned
"Hey did…something happen back in shade?"she asked concerned as the rabbit just stayed silent as soon enough may spoke up for her
"If you count gwen darcy spreading a bunch of rumors their with some others. Then throwing bricks and bottles at her harassing her everyday. For well being romantiacally involved with someone"she stated making some just find that annoying
"Wait that chick we beat the snot out of in the vytal festival?"rogue asked because she and her group didn't really hear much from the others that where in vacuo.
"Ughhhh her and dew probably made it worse since i beat them up. Though aka sure did teach them a lesson too"onxyia said but looked down which made adam looked concerned himself recalling blake being close to that falcon faunus
"Oh her…how is akasha? If your brother is alive i assume she would be"adam asked as the wolf stared him down. Because she didn't like him at all right now being involved with their group because she didn't trust him at all right now. Then she decided to say it
"If you count ilia and her being back together again"She answered partially.
"Ilia?"weiss asked confused
"Oh a chameleon faunus that blake knows shes really nice though heard from kitty that well. She might have a bone to pick with lazuli new boyfriend"yang replied making the thief be worried about running into her now.
Adam didn't seem bothered by it"Well if she wants to hit me in the face i'll allow it. I'll probbaly have a worse intereaction with ghira and…kali"he said worried at meeting her again because she may seem like a sweet cat faunus. But actually a whole different breed of cat when shes anger
"Well…i just hope aka is handling everything alright right now"onxyia said with worried
"What do you mean by that? Did something happen?"mercury asked as someone answered what happened to her.
"She recently got crippled from the waist down. A merc shot her in the back in her spinel cord crippiling her. Though she doing the same thing nolan is doing right now….before he got his new legs after that mutt tore them off"may said with a hint of anger
"Then its great that he;s dead…though uh…weird how i have to bury a jar of eyes. "Bombay said creeped out by it but she still hans't done it yet
"Right that…uhhh if you want we could help find uh spot for you to bury. Your um…eyes"zephyra offered but found it just downright disgsuting actually that someone gouged out someone eyes from their skull.
"Creepy still in my opinion though i wonder where everyone else is. Because don't we still need to take down a couple more cells?"jaune asked as before they could answer soon enough neptune and bahsira came into the room with something to say
"Guys we got a major problem right now…we all need to talk right now"bashira said making them wonder what happen
"Did something happen? Are we under attack is the white fang here early?'perun questioned
"No dude we gotta tell everyone something. Because we got some major intel on our esteemed lion headmaster here"neptune said as they all eyed each other before they all decided to gather the others immediately for a meeting
After maybe a couple hours of searching the academy for everyone they all soon got back into a lounge area of the school again. Then making sure all the doors and windows where shut tight they all wondered why this meeting was called.
"Okay why did you guys call this meeting right now i mean i need to supervise my boys"barney asked
"Hes right and i'm working on making sure mine have vehicles set up to get anyone out of the city. We can't exactly issue an evac with little time since it would take forever to get this many people out of the city"junior added
The two stared at each other before they decided to tell them why they brought them here
"Look we found something out about lionheart. We were coming back from town and saw him go into some alleyway in town."bashira said raising some of their attention now
"Let me guess he was acting very shady like he was hiding something from all of us"perun asked as she nodded then decided to turn toward two people in particular.
"Along with that they know that raven is the spring maiden along with that he wants to try and kidnap yang"neptune said surprisng them as all eyes where on the two as yang looked stunned that she was involved in some grand scheme of theirs now. This made raven clenched her swords handle tight but kept her calm composure.
"So your telling me that he wants to what? Use my own daughter to try and force me to open the vault for them. "Raven asked before her brother decided to step in at that moment
"Its not a bad idea. Because i know you don't show it sis but i mean you'd kill anyone would hurt her. She gets your temper from you pretty much"Qrow reminded as she stared at him hitting him in the side with the handle part of her sword as he rubbed the spot she hit.
"Well it would be obvious for them to use her as leverage. Though that means we all just need to stick close together and not let them take her. Boom problem solved"cardin said
"Its not that easy because if they can't get yang. Then they'll go for someone else which is obvious. We might need a new plan for us getting into the vault."raven stated but their was a problem
"But we don't even have the key to the vault. It won't open without the key"thisite remind though they actually know where the key is.
"Actually we know where the key is. Its in his office actually something called the sakura flower'neptune said making them all pause for a moment because they could just go and open the vault right now if they wanted too.
"Well thats great! Lets just go rough him up then take the key for ourselves. Boom we win!"nora cheered bringing her hammer out sauntering over to the door to smash any doors in that stood in their way. But qrow grabbed her by the back of her shirt
"Hold it their ginger we can't just go busting into his office"qrow warned which confused them
"Why the heck not i mean mrs. shen mei has keys to the entire academy she could just unlock it"ame questioned as the combat insutrctor wasn't here because she was busy doing something else right now. But meg who was now involved cleared her throat
"Actually lionheart a week ago confiscated me and her keys. Along with that any other staff on site but…well this is gonna sound strange"she started
"What sound strange?"paddy questioned
"Well…a couple of the teachers did return their keys. But over the last month i've noticed something that being huntsman and huntress going missing all over the capital. Their are only a few left but the thing is…their terrible injury making them bed ridden for at least a few weeks"meg explained as junior nodded
"The same thing happened to amrboise"he commented
"Amrboises is here?"qrow asked surprised that old owl faunus he knew is here in the city.
