Warning: Do not read if you haven't seen Watching and Dreaming. Contains Spoilers.
Summary (Work in Progress): Luz is only a week away from turning 19, and she's excited... or she would be if she didn't wake up unable to move or talk with a burning pain in her chest.
Luz laid in bed, she had been awake for hours, unable to move, unable to scream, and oh Titan, she wanted to scream. Her chest felt like it was on fire, like someone was sticking a branding iron on it. She couldn't look at what was going on, she only could lay there, motionless while it happened. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, which didn't surprise Luz, it was almost noon, and she hadn't shown up to any of her classes, which was very abnormal, even by Luz standards.
"Kid? You okay?" Eda asked, "I got calls from your teachers, they say you never showed up to class, which is out of the normal for you... finally trying to get the quitter badge? I still have it if you are."
Eda, the Headmaster/Founder of the University of Wild Magic, and Luz's mentor/the person that illegally adopted her/her legal Godparent, was extremely worried after not hearing a response. Sure, Luz may not live with her anymore, and lives in a dorm room at the university, but Eda was still her Godparent, so she did what any caring Godparent would do... she kicked the door down. She was Luz on the bed, motionless.
"Kid, are you alright?" Eda asked, moving over to Luz.
When Luz didn't respond, that's when Eda got really worried. She had to put two fingers on Luz's neck, which did calm her a little as Luz was still breathing, but this was weird, and not the cool, fun weird that she had come to know and love from Luz, this was scary weird, and Eda didn't like scary weird.
"Okay, Kid, this isn't funny anymore." Eda said, "Are you okay?"
Eda looked at Luz's eyes and saw tears beginning to fall. That's when she knew something was wrong.
"Don't worry, Kid, I'll... I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do, but... uh... maybe a potion could help!" Eda said.
Eda thought about it, a blabber serum was typically used to get someone to talk, not like this exactly, but she can't really be choosy right now. Thankfully, being Headmaster meant she had access to the potion easily. She quickly grabbed one and ran back to Luz's room. She forced the potion down Luz's throat. It seemed to work... as Luz immediately let out a blood curling scream.
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHH! IT HURTS! STOP IT!"
Luz's screaming died down after a few minutes as her eyes began to roll into the back of her head and she started seizing. Eda pulled the closest person over and told them to get the school healer immediately. Eda looked horrified as Luz's seizure was getting worse, but she knows that trying to hold Luz down would only hurt her worse.
"Please be okay, Luz, please be okay." Eda said.
The Healer came in, the former Healing Coven Head, Hettie Cutburn. Yeah, kind of crazy for Eda to hire her, but she was actually pretty cool when you get to know her, turns out she's incapable of talking and is married to the former Potion Coven Head. She shoved Eda out of the room and got to work. Eda was lost in thought, she was scared about what was going to happen, Luz has never had something like this before, sure she has gotten sick, she even died once, that still haunted Eda's nightmares, but something this extreme is new. She made sure to have a record of all students medical history, and Luz was no exception, so she knows this is new. She doesn't know how long she was waiting, but she does know she was knocked out of her thoughts by Hettie. She motioned to Luz's room, and Eda ran in, seeing Luz looking out the window.
"Kid?" Eda asked.
Luz stood up straight.
"E-E-Eda?" Luz asked.
Luz turned around, and Eda gasped... Luz's eyes... were black and gold.
"What's going on?" Luz asked, rubbing the orange symbol burning through her shirt.
